Solid donairs and decent falafels. When you get beed donair meat, you are typically bound to get one of two kinds. One is sliced thin, and is dry, tight and browned. The other is chunky, moist and uniform in colour. What you get at Best Donair is the latter. The meat may be soft and lacking the flavour you get with the thin browned kind, but the rest of the donair fillings make up for it. So much flavour in the sauces. And the toppings are diverse, and pack a lot of punch as well! I ordered a couple falafel on the side just to try, since they are "Best Falafel". They are good, but maybe not the bestest of the best. Seasoned well with salt but should have more flavour in general. Fired nicely but I like them a little crisper. Overall one of the better donair joints in the area. read more

This is hands down the best place for authentic Arabic shawarma. The food is always fresh and full of flavour. They recently added the beef Saj, and it is so tasty. The hummus is perfectly creamy, and all the sauces, especially the tahini, are spot on. I also love that they grill the Saj wraps, and the chicken is always juicy and delicious. The store itself is clean, welcoming, and has such a nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and kind, and you can tell they really care about the quality of their food and their customers. Every time I go, I have a great experience. Whenever I am craving shawarma, this is my favourite spot, and I always look forward to coming back. Definitely recommended! read more

I have had better shawarma but overall it was tasty. B and I bought a $25 gift card at the beginning of the year. We finally got the chance to use it. I got the lamb shawarma. It was tasty but I found it very cold and that is probably because of the lettuce/veggies. I asked for lots of garlic sauce and lots of hummus. They were very generous on that. The meat was fresh. B got the chicken shawarma platter. He said it was delicious. He got lots of garlic sauce to go with it. Portion size was ok. For the price and size, I felt like there are other shawarma places that are tastier and better deal. There are a few tables in the restaurant but the restaurant itself is very small. Def not the best! Tried their falafel & shawarma wraps, along with beef samosas. Samosa had this outer crust which felt like it was not fully cooked, tasted like raw dough. Its filling was ok though. Falafel & shawarma wraps were so dry, took a lot of biting & chewing to finish them. The taste wasn't consistent through the whole wrap, it tasted bland in one bite, and tangy in another. We ended up at this place by accident and were glad we did. The three of us each had the Sunday special -- $10 for a combo plate with meat, hummus, pita, rice, and a side (I had the tabouleh). In brief, everything was delicious and plentiful. That's my kind of place. We added a piece of baklava, which was tasty. The inside of the restaurant was casual and unremarkable. The service was friendly and helpful -- and that certainly made our experience here an enjoyable one. My daughters said this was their favourite meal in Vancouver -- a pretty big statement given how much we've eaten out of late. Parking is at meters on the street, or you can hunt for a free spot in the neighbourhood and walk a bit. I was looking for a place close to my new job and walked by Best Falafel. SO glad I decided to go in. I chose a falafel wrap and was thrilled to see the falafel 'balls' (they're heart shaped, actually) cooked as my wrap was being assembled. The person in charge of preparing my meal was very friendly and easy to talk to. The combination of Bessa's (sp?) cheery demeanour and the layers of delicious ingredients rolled into a whole wheat pita instantly let me know where my lunch would be from the next day. Absolutely delicious food! Ordered this dinnertime (during COVID-19 stay-at-home) on Skip the Dishes. Have had loads of middle-eastern food in the past but not from Best Falafel, but the great Yelp reviews convinced me to have a go. And am I glad I did! We ordered the lamb donair platter with rice, tabouli, hummus, tzatziki, pita, pickles, plentiful strips of meat and sauces ($14.95) plus a spinach pie ($5.95) and an extra pita for only 25 cents. Everything was fresh, pleasing to the eye and so tasty! Plus, it took less than 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Every item was possibly the best of its type I ever had, and that's saying a lot as I have travelled extensively and experienced many, many ethnic cuisines, plus this type of food is one of my favourites and I've had it often in many different restaurants. Each item was bursting with flavour and so plentiful that there is enough left for someone's lunch tomorrow. Wow! A wonderful discovery and I HIGHLY recommend Best Falafel. Best Falafel This is one the worst food we had in ages. Shawarma being our favourite food for weekends we try a lot of different places to find the best that can be compared to the authentic ones I grew up with in the Middle East (UAE to be precise). Nothing ever come close, but then people differ vastly in there choice of taste and food. Today October 17th we tried a new place close to my spouses work place, it's called BEST FALAFEL after googling up nearby places for our favourite food this came up in the top search results. I decided on it and planned to buy it on our way home. We bought 4 chicken shawarma wraps, 2 shawarma platter, 2 plates of falafel and 3 backlavas. The 40 minutes drive back home we would be drooling over the aroma of the food inside the car but nothing of that sort happened this time. I was even trying to wave in the aroma of the food that was held by my spouse on the passenger side. Reached home and we started to have the food and something didn't feel right. There was some kinda stale sourness in the wraps we first tried out but couldn't figure it precisely. After the wrap was done we started on the falafel with a base of hummus and pickled turnips and cucumber on the side. The falafel was really tasty and that's when we found out the stale sourness came from the hummus. Hummus is not supposed to be sour, this happens only when it get spoiled, by not refrigerating it properly. We also felt it could be a preparation difference. We decided to start with our platter and that's when the disaster unfolded completely. One platter was with regular salad with cheese topping and the other with Tabouli. Tabouli also seemed out of proportion and felt like it was spoiled too and they did not use the Really firm parsley leaves, it was all soggy and dead there was no zest to it in anyway. The chicken on top of the rice was flavourful but when we digged deep the biggest issue popped up. The rice was all soggy and stale. Just one spoonful of rice was good to determine where it is supposed to be (the green bin). I immediately called the restaurant at 9:20pm to talk to the person responsible. The youngsters helping the customers were the only one available and to be frank they did a pretty good job in servicing us and the few door dash guys who came along and this was around 7:30pm. They were polite and courteous and one person I felt was fairly new to the job but did it with patience and care. On the phone I told the person on the other end not to serve the rice and hummus to any other customer as both of them seemed to be spoiled. I also asked him for the owners phone number and he said to call back Monday and he will be available during day time. The final rating for this would be as follows: Service - 4/5 Location -5/5 Parking - 4/5 (paid) Shawarma wrap - 1/5 (hummus spoiled it) Platter - 1/5 (hummus and tabouli was spoiled) Falafel - 2/5 (falafel and pickle was good but the hummus being spoiled ruined everything) Portions size Shawarma wrap - 4/5 (moderate sizing) Shawarma platter - 1/5 (comparatively the smallest platter we ever had, good that we didn't have to waste a lot) Falafel - 3/5 (average size and tasty falafel even though small comparatively) ALL IN ALL I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE, I WISH TO FORGET ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE read more

It may be the best falafels, but the chicken shawarma was AWFUL. The chicken in it tastes like it came from a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken from Safeway. ZERO flavour. A TRUE shawarma is cooked with stacked, spice-marinated meat, or a mix of meats - on a vertical spit. The shawarma turns and cooks on the spit for hours and hours, basted in fat and its own juices, and is delicious...however this clearly does NOT take place at this establishment. How they can even call them shawarmas is beyond me. We will not be back. read more

My wife and I have ordered from Best Falafel a couple times a month all year long. The chicken shawarma plate is fantastic. The portions are generous, the hummus is creamy and smooth, the chicken is tender and flavorful, and we love the salad and pickles. You can chose a number of sauces, and the side dishes are great and generous portions as well. Best part is that it always arrives incredibly fast, and it's super consistent and fresh. For the price, this is easily one of our favorite weeknight takeout spots that doesn't leave us feeling unhealthy or bloated. read more

I was hoping that a place with the pickled turnips (so hard to find in this city) would've been a bit.....tastier. I just was left missing a lil something. My pita wasnt grilled or warmed at all. But that said, the garlic sauce on the wrap was legit, and I still am loving the hummus (on it's own) w extra pita. Ordered on DD and it came within 20 min so big plus there. Would I do it again? Hell yes! But only when I can be in store to see what's fresh and what I should opt to leave alone until another day. My usual falafel joint was closed so decided to try Best bc it got good reviews. Falafel made fresh to order, not microwaved. All the usual toppings and none of that ridiculous grilling. (Warm iceberg lettuce and cucumbers? ) The end result was delish and all 3 of us agreed. The only thing I will say is if you like spicy ask for extra. I had spicy peppers and hot sauce and still not hot. The lady behind the counter was lovely- funny and friendly in the best way. ordered 2 falafel wrap from Doordash. when it finally arrived an hour later (and a total of $36 without anything else added to order) it was disgusting. the wraps were soggy and dripping. the falafel was dry and I'm pissed for wasting my money. on doordash u can't chose what goes on it, so I was stuck with a bunch of toppings on it that I dont like.it came to us as a nasty wet mess.
