Def not the best! Tried their falafel & shawarma wraps, along with beef samosas. Samosa had this outer crust which felt like it was not fully cooked, tasted like raw dough. Its filling was ok though. Falafel & shawarma wraps were so dry, took a lot of biting & chewing to finish them. The taste wasn't consistent through the whole wrap, it tasted bland in one bite, and tangy in another. Didn't like it tbh!

    Combo lunch special

We ended up at this place by accident and were glad we did. The three of us each had the Sunday special -- $10 for a combo plate with meat, hummus, pita, rice, and a side (I had the tabouleh). In brief, everything was delicious and plentiful. That's my kind of place. We added a piece of baklava, which was tasty. The inside of the restaurant was casual and unremarkable. The service was friendly and helpful -- and that certainly made our experience here an enjoyable one. My daughters said this was their favourite meal in Vancouver -- a pretty big statement given how much we've eaten out of late. Parking is at meters on the street, or you can hunt for a free spot in the neighbourhood and walk a bit. That's what we did. :-) Bottom line: We'll undoubtedly be back, hopefully on a Sunday!

    Lamb donair

One of the best falafel I ever had. Everything tasted fresh. The pickle veggies in the donair was on point. I don't know if I was hungry that made it taste better but I been to this place on west 4th multiple times and everytime I go the food taste better. Not a big fan of the drinkable yogurt. Not saying the drinkable yogurt was bad it was just not for me.

A very tiny yet highly acclaimed restaurant in Vancouver near Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station…read more We stumbled upon this place while walking right at opening, so we got first pick at one of the 3 tables for dine-in. Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

We were greeted by what I assume was the owner (as I also saw him featured prominently in the YouTube video) and took a seat at a table in this relatively small seating area. I kinda had an idea of what I wanted so I started to order.. that is, until the owner told me that he recommended something else on the menu instead. I'd be lying if I said this didn't catch me off guard a bit and even rubbed me the wrong a little, mostly because I had my mind set on what I wanted but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and accepted his recommendation. Again, I'll admit that I was a little pessimistic during the wait. I told my girlfriend that I hoped the Philly was as good as he thought it was because if not, I was going to be severely disappointed and my review would highlight that. I gotta say, great call from the gentleman. The Philly wasn't the most traditional I've ever had but it was a very yummy variation with nice textural differences that made it an abundantly enjoyable experience. The meat was cooked very well, the cheese was gooey, the fried onions gave it a great crunchy bite and that sauce was a scene stealer. All in all, what started off as a bit of an uncomfortable experience ended in one of our favorite dinner outings of our trip. The only extra detail that I'd like to share to the owner is to update his menu highlighting his personal recommendations so people lean towards those more. I like to take recommendations and ask for them consistently but maybe others wouldn't have appreciated it and could've taken it a bit out of context.

First (and only) Yemeni restaurant in town!…read more Came in for brunch for the first time and was immediately drawn in by the waffle photos I ended up ordering the savoury waffle made with potato instead of flour. The texture was great, just a little on the oily side. The charred beef had a nice Chinese wok-style flavour, paired with a giant tandoor bread--really interesting combo! Both hot drinks were solid, but I especially loved the cinnamon latte. It really warmed me up.

The interior of the restaurant was also very nicely decorated. I do think Saba Foods is fancier than other places I've been to while exploring new cuisines and I personally prefer a more casual dining experience. As for the food, the portion sizes were very generous (though I did see other diners ordering individually). I shared the haneeth and saltah with a friend as well as got the kunafa and bint al sahen for dessert. The lamb was very tender and fell off the bone and the saltah came in a bubbling pot. I think the presentation of each dish was beautiful and was representative of its quality. My favourite dish was definitely the haneeth; it had a good combination of meat, rice, and vegetables. My reason for the missing star would be price point (total came around to $55 per person) as well as flavour as I'm used to having very flavorful dishes from other cuisines. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't tried Yemeni food before though!
