We recently bought a 75" TV from this Best Buy. When we unboxed it, (we live less than a mile away) the screen was cracked. The manager exchanged it immediately upon return. I have returned some tablets but that was because I didn't like the operating system, so that doesn't count. BEWARE. My laptop was sent out for a screen hinge repair. Upon receiving it back after repair, it was apparent that something was botched as my screen flickered and went in and out. Sent it out again to have the issue corrected. I was sent a repair estimate, spoke with many reps who agreed that the repair shouldn't cost me anything and should be corrected. Now I'm being told that there's mysterious liquid damage and the "repair" estimate was for just about what I paid for the laptop new. The laptop is less than a year old and conveniently, this is not covered under my warranty. SCAM. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to buy their devices at ANY Best Buy, and most certainly don't trust them with repairs, you'll probably get your device back in worse condition. After I left a Google review I was asked to reach out to corporate, just for them to tell me the exact same thing the store did. What a joke. read more

Very racist, unsafe environment. As a Muslim man who lives in Okemos and has been coming to this location for 15 years. I have bought TVs, macbook, game systems here. I must say the last 8 times ive come to the store have been very different and uncomfortable for me. There is a bald white man with glasses in his mid 30s who was very rude and offensive to me. He approaches me each time he sees me in the store. He asks me why I took the bus from Lansing to come here and if i can afford to shop in this store. When I ignore his ignorance he yelled at me something Spanish words. I tell him i need no assistance and for him to leave me alone. He continues to follow me around hovering behind me asking if he can help and what I want. After that the other employees in start to treat me like a criminal at checkout. refusing to put my items in a bag or allow me to get water bottle near the door. After I pay the checkout person talking to the man in ear piece acts very surprised that my card went through and then 2 men move from blocking the door. I use my Outlook client to manage 10 various email accounts. My main account stopped sending emails. I contacted the Geek Squad. The first rep couldn't help so she/he transferred me to Agent Kannamala. The agent worked on the problem for about 20 minutes calling me twice during that time. I watched him delete my gmail account and then try to reinstall it manually. It was obvious he was having trouble. Then, all of a sudden, he terminates the session. No call. No email. Nothing. Then, I get an email from Best Buy saying "Today I ensured your Outlook fully functional and up-to-date". Now, NONE of the email accounts in my Outlook client work. I tried to get a manager but anther rep said that would take hours........I'm going to look for another support service. read more

We purchased a double oven in stock on January 16th. FOUR installation dates ( all confirmed) were cancelled. The last cancellation was due to icy weather, but rescheduling was offered yet another whole week later on March 1st. There's never an explanation. You can only talk to call center employees who do nothing to help. There is utterly no personal service or anyone who cares how inconvenient this has been for us. I wanted to give a shout out to Maurice at the Best Buy in Okemos. He was extremely helpful assisting my wife and me with a purchase I made when looking to buy a wireless headset with microphone. He approached us soon after entering the store and asked us if we needed any help. He was very patient and answered all our questions and even took the time to check with someone else to make sure he was accurate with his answer/advice with one of our questions. We did not feel rushed or experienced any pressure to buy. As we walked away to pay for the headphones, he even wished us a nice weekend. The way Maurice interacted and treated us with his outstanding customer service reminded us why it's still worth taking the time to drive to Best Buy to make certain purchases when we are unsure of what we are looking for than just buying on Amazon out of convenience. Nice, work Maurice! You outstanding customer service should make your managers at Best Buy proud to have you working for them!! Appears BESTBUY continues it's Down-Hill Trend for very Poor Customer Service Experience and product Knowledgeable people, over the Last few years and most notably since Covid-19. Perhaps you're Hiring the Wrong People, maybe it's a Managerial related Issue(s) and/or Not paying enough for good Quality People (or All of the Above?)? I am a FAA Certified UAS Published Commercial Pilot and very Tech. Savvy. I went to your West Lansing, MI store a few days ago (about 2:45pm local time), to ask/talk about 3-axis Camera/Phone Gimbals (since I was in the neighborhood). I went to the appropriate Dept. (cameras), the store was Not very Busy (employees standing around, talking, etc.). Seeing, You people have Only 2 Phone Gimbals (both DJI, 1 small cheap 1 and the OM 4 (not the newest, OM 5)) on display (although your Website has several types and different brands) - Can't expect to sell many if you Don't have much of a Display, Inventory, Competitive Pricing and knowledgeable (trained) people on them! I Waited 17 Minutes and no one came over to me (frustrating). I went up to another Dept and had to ask to send someone over to me about Gimbals (I specifically asked for some that is familiar with them and/or uses them). I Waited about another 12 Minutes (about to walk Out) and then came over a young man. I asked some specific Questions (some basic, some detailed/harder questions). He said He has some Experience and Knowledge with them, He Didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so I could see, he just went Online to try to Answer my questions about Gimbals, Compatibility, and APPs to use, etc. I have gone Online my self and I didn't want to stand there while your Employee(s) just go online to find answers while I wait for him to do that and hopefully find the answer(s)! I thanked him and moved on. Also, the young man said, this store doesn't have the inventory or the people experienced on the Gimbals as the East Lansing (Okemos), MI store does (No Excuse!). Today (Saturday), I was over buy your East Lansing, MI Okemos store, so I went in, hoping to get a more Knowledgeable person about Gimbals. Went to the Dept/Section (again, store Not very busy (what does that tell you?), about 3:10pm local time) and again waited about 15 Minutes and No one came over to help me. I went up to the Front desk (entrance security booth) and asked for someone that Knows Gimbals, etc (young man said OK). Went back to the Dept. and Waited another 10 Minutes, finally someone across the aisle (from the TV section) came over. Asked specific questions again about Gimbals, Compatibility, and about best Gimbal capture/feature APPs to use with. Again only 2 Gimbals on display. This man didn't know what I was talking about and didn't have answers. Another young man came over (I had seen, they had been working together in the TV section). I asked him how Knowledgeable he is about these things and said he had briefly used them, etc. So, I asked away and started a conversation, he Could NOT really answer my questions either (I didn't think they were Difficult, especially if you have used phone Gimbals and had some experience with them, etc). He again got on the Internet, to find some answers as well! Also, he tried to pass me some False/Inaccurate Info. I already researched the correct answer(s) about Gimbals to try to convince me that he HAS Some Knowledge/Experience, He Did NOT. I asked if I could talk to someone else please (with perhaps more experience), he said there is Not - what a "WASTE OF MY TIME"! I did ask him about his knowledge about other brand names (different brands/models Not on your floor but on your Website), he said to me, We only have knowledge of what we sell. Well, you sell a few different Brands/Models Online - I Didn't "Buy That" (Not convincing, explanation and moved on (FYI: I was Only asking Questions about the Gimbals you do sell Instore/Online). Why do you put people on your Product Floor (Departments) that are Not Knowledgeable about the Product you Sell/Display and/or can't answer questions about the products? Most (not all) your people in your Depts. are Not salespeople (associates) they seem to be just "Clerks". If I wanted to just talk to Clerks, I would go to Walmart - you are suppose to be a Tech. store; that said, don't you have some sort of Training (consistently) to your employees about product (s) you sell, etc and maybe encourage/motivate your people to gather specific Industry Info., etc beyond what BestBuy offers? Your Customer Service in YOUR Stores is Terrible, what's happened to you people, what's happened to BESTBUY, been going Down Hill in your stores now for the las few years. Toasters were priced at $79. We went to the checkout to pay for it and it came up as $99. They went back as said it was a mistake and wouldn't sell it for $79. We asked to speak to the manager, a young assistant manager came over and said they couldn't sell it for that price. We said it was priced at $79, they said that was a mistake, changed the price and said they wouldn't honor the price. This was our store and we had been shopping there for over a decade until now. The staff in this location are top notch! Maurice and Jared in the appliance dept. are WONDERFUL! Maurice really went out of his way assisting us on our fridge, washer and dryer and dishwasher we purchased. Very very knowledgeable and honest about the pros and cons of our needs. I learned so much just from him. Jared was knowledgeable assisting us with financing and setting us up with the great programs Best Buy offers. Explaining the warranties and delivery options. So excited to get our new appliances! And these guys made it a great experience. These young men are customer service pros! read more

This Best Buy is located right along Grand River so it's around a lot of other businesses and is a short drive from MSU's campus. It has a good size parking lot and I didn't have a problem finding a spot here. I liked the layout of this BB and the staff was typical of all Best Buys and was helpful. I always could find what I needed here and I was able to get checked out in a good time. The parking lot does need to be repaved but so do most roads in Michigan so I'll give them a break on that. It can be hard to get in and out of the parking lot since it's right along Grand River and it can be insanely busy. read more

We purchased a chest freezer from Best Buy on 2/12 which we did not unpack until today (2/29). The freezer is damaged and Best Buy will not accept a return because their return policy is only 15 days. Highly disappointed that they sold us a damaged product and will not accept its return. I dropped my computer off to be fixed by the Geek Squad. They sent me a message saying I needed t call the service center and I did. The automated phone system is awful. I could not get where I needed and was disconnected. I was put on hold three different times to speak to an agent and the I would be disconnected after waiting longer than anticipated. How do you call the service center when you are repeatedly given the run around. I asked for a call back and it never happened. The online site is no better waiting for a reply from them! I am angry. My time is valuable and it has now been 3 hours and I still have not gotten an answer. I was foolish and signed up for a service contract. Maybe because I am a bird in the hand they feel they can put me off time and time agian. The GEEK SQUAD is not customer service friendly with their automated systems, and I am considering asking for my money back. This is not service. read more

Beware of LG products and Best Buy in Okemos, MI. On May 30th our 3-year-old, still-under-warranty LG fridge broke. We started dealing with LG but they said because it was an "open box" purchase the warranty was invalidated (not true). On June 12th I went into Best Buy and spoke with Maurice and Jeremiah. Both said they'd help, but subsequently never returned emails or phone calls. On June 19th a third-party repair place was scheduled to come fix it, but they called the day of to cancel the appt, saying they didn't even have a person on staff who repairs fridges. Again, no response from Best Buy when we complained. On June 23rd I went into Best Buy a second time and complained. The store manager, Brandon Birchmeier, sent one email to an "escalation group" dept of customer service but failed to do anything meaningful to compensate us for the utter incompetence of his staff and their failure to return emails or phone calls. He refused to give me his business card or give me access to a complaint department. He had no problem with a system where emails go unanswered because a person is not at work for a full week or more; or, where repair jobs are outsourced to repair places who don't even do that type of repair. We've had to spend an unbudgeted $30-$50 a day to feed our family for 24 days since the fridge broke. We were on vacation and had to arrange for someone to be at our house on the 19th to let the repair person in--and then they cancelled on the day of. We've lived in the area for 15 years and bought all our appliances and computers at Best Buy in Okemos to support the local economy. I pointed this out to Brandon but keeping loyal customers clearly meant nothing to him. I was treated as nothing but a nuisance he wished would go away. read more

This is not necessarily specific to this particular best buy, but I'm frustrated enough to just vent on any outlet. I am having an extremely frustrating serious of events with purchasing a Smart TV from Best Buy. I first purchased a Samsung TV and it immediately had all sorts of issues. I returned it and it was sent out to have its complete mother board repaired among other things. Once back, it was still slow, but functional until a couple months later when it began randomly turning itself off. I brought it back to the store again, and after a long discussion, and getting conflicting information between the geek squad in-store vs. call center, the the store took it back for credit rather than making me go through another repair send off (since they won't do in house service for TVs of 32"). I do appreciate that adjustment to store policy the geek squad manager took. So then I bought another TV online since I had store credit and therefor couldn't reasonably switch vendors. Before I ordered, I specifically called to be sure that it had the ability to run amazon prime and mlb.tv. Of course when it arrives, it can't run mlb.tv. This is frustrating enough I don't particularly want to go through another round of returns, research and calls that may or may not give me the right information or product. Now, a couple weeks later, his new TV also will not consistently recognize my wireless network. No other the device (laptop, iphone, ipad) is having any difficulty, but some days this TV will recognize the network, and some days it will not. It doesn't make a difference if I move it next to the router... this is ridiculous. The response so far from Best Buy corporate has been "First and foremost, we want you to know we understand how critical customer service is to the success of every business. It reflects what we are as a company and what we can offer to our customers that others can't. What you've experience with one of our stores and over the phone with one of our agents are not typical of Best Buy's customer service. . That being said, we assure you that this is just a one-off incident that will not happen again in the future. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and thank you for your endearing patience and continued patronage." Whether or not this is "not typical of Best Buy's customer service", the experience I am having is beyond frustrating. Needless to say, this experience has soured me towards Best Buy for future large electronics purchases. read more

This place is a continuous disappointment. Over the years we have had nothing but crap service here, and today was the highlight. I called to see if the store got any NES systems in. Jayla/Kayla answers the phone and says "yes we did." I tell her I will be driving in and ask if they can hold one, to which she says "No" (which is completely understandable). So I drive all the way out there to the store, they bring one out, and when they go to ring it in the system will not ring. A Manager comes out and says "sorry this is only for Elite Plus members." Really? REALLY???? I drive all the way out there because you tell me you got them in, and then you turn me down because your employees have not been trained correctly? I have always had very good service at this location, especially at the Samsung experience counter. I had to return a tablet last Christmas that had a defect, and they were very accommodating. That being said.... I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND the Geek Squad. I was sold the protection for my phone through them, stating that they could troubleshoot my phone to possibly avoid replacing a phone that only needed an easy fix. NOT TRUE. They refused to troubleshoot and only would replace (at a cost of $150), but Rob at the Samsung desk was able to fix my issue in less than a minute! read more

I used to work at this store but have since moved out to Auburn Hills, MI upon graduating from MSU (whoo!) My feeling for this store are much the same as the one that I wrote for my new store in Auburn Hills with a few exceptions. The employee base here is much more diverse due to its immediate proximity to MSU. The customer traffic is much higher at all times of the day, but staffing usually does well to absorb the impact. And since this is a high traffic store, the managers are more under the gun about 'making numbers.' The good thing about this last point is that since there are so many college-workers, they know that Best Buy is not going to be a carreer for them...and are morelikely to cut loose and have a good time right along with you and not have upper level threats playing in the back of their minds while explaining a product. Always hard to rate someplace that you have worked at...but I give it 4 out of 5 stars based on my experiences, and perceived customer experience. read more

Three weeks ago I ordered a Maytag washer and dryer set. Two weeks ago they delivered a damaged washer and I turned it away and requested a new appliance. Today they delivered the identically damaged washer and a damaged dryer. It is clear they did nothing to get a new replacement non damaged washer. They have my money and I have nothing to show for it. Go elsewhere for your appliances. read more
