Delivery and installation almost never goes right. It usually involves delays, multiple tries, wasted time and energy. Bought an LG dryer. Delivery happened on time. Installation was screwed io six ways to Sunday. The machine wobbles, air flow is messed up, and so it shits itself off. It is about the most standard installation possible. Now I have to lose time for this a-holes to come pick up their crap. I am out a functioning dryer. And otherwise back at square one. Home Depot can suck it. read more

We needed wire for an at home job and the price for the item we needed was $25 cheaper on the home depot website and available for in-store pickup at this location same day. The worker in the aisle told is price matching was possible and so does the "Price Guarantee" policy on the website. The woman manning the self checkout refused to price match. We bought the exact thing cheaper at Menards afterwards. Home depot, you lost $65. Also, when buying paint please ask for a persons phone number. We bought paint and now I will never remember the color because I was never asked for a phone number when asking for the paint to be mixed. Overall terrible service 9/10 times. :/ read more

We recently had carpet installed in our home by Home Depot and the work was terrible. It started when the installers were out in my driveway smoking and left their cigarette butts there. We had carpet installed on the stairs and in the basement which butted up to a wood floor. On the stairs the paint was chipped off the wall on every single step, even 5 feet up on the wall was all scuffed up. Never once was I told this would be a possibility. We had just recently had the walls professionally painted which makes this that much more irritating. When we called the install company that Home Depot uses they told us there was nothing they could do. We offered to show them the painters receipt to prove the walls were just painted and the lady said it wouldn't make a difference. Not once did she apologize for the damage that was done. At the top of the stairs where it meets the wood floors they just left the plywood showing instead of properly installing the carpet. Lastly, in the basement where the carpet meets the wood they put a tack strip down and laid the carpet so every time we step on that area the tack strip nails go into our feet. They were provided with the needed piece to do it properly but chose not to use it. There was a big language barrier also so explaining my concern did no good. I am very disappointed about the lack of respect we were shown and Home Depot really needs to take a look at the company they are working with. I have had carpet installed by Lowe's and the job was perfectly done, even on the stairs. If you are considering carpet I would not go through Home Depot. On a separate note the employees that work in the flooring department seem to have no knowledge of the products. We felt with an older woman that was so rude we had to ask for a different employee to help us. So buyer beware. read more

This Home Depot charges a MASSIVE markup for any subcontractors you hire through them. Once Home Depot contacts them about your job, the subcontractors have no option but to go through Home Depot or lose their contract with them. They've also recently hidden fees from estimates leading to surprise billings once the subcontractors show up. A terrible company and we'll never do business with them again. $2100(!) to install a $550 water heater after a $1400 quote (which was already high). Are you joking? read more

My papa is a carpenter and my mum is a seamstress (and these are hobbies for them!) so I kind of inherited their gift and love of making things, making me a regular at Home Depot Well face it, all Home Depot stores are pricey, but it sure beats rollin' out to 84 lumber when I need some MDF or a couple of 2x4s to do a project. Home Depot has it all - from wallpaper to houseplants to nail guns. I like to think of it as one stop shopping...well with the exception of the frilly decorating things that I have to roll over to Target to grab. Overall, it's good stuff. read more

Not sure the bad reviews on here -- those reviews do not seem like the store I was in today. Everywhere I turned there was at least 1 if not 2 or 3 employees who were very friendly and eager to assist me. (One even quickly researched on his cellphone to make sure one of my items would work for the tool I have) From the time I walked in until the time they helped me load up my van and leave, I was shown nothing but exceptional service by all the members that I interacted with. I've been debating on Lowe's or Home Depot for my needs but based on this trip it will be HD from now on. read more

I am a frequent customer at Home Depot but their service is getting to be ridiculous. They are severely understaffed with employees who do not know what they are talking about, one cashier in particular could not find the SKUs on some plywood I was trying to buy and could not phone anybody for help. I ended up going and getting The SKUs for her but she are you did with me that I got the wrong SKU. She sent me to another cashier on the other side of the store because she did not want to deal with the problem at hand. I left my wood there and went to MPC CashWay instead. The managers give you the run around and don't follow up with install issues, and then when you finally get a hold of one; they talk down to you and are very condescending when doing so. I went to the store to order custom wood blinds. 1) After giving my number, the worker in the blinds section did not verify the name that the number brought up and because my number was apparently an alternative number for a roommate, my package went under her name. 2) Two weeks later the delivery day came and went and when called and given both my number, name and my roommates number and name, they could not located any order for blinds even though I had been charged in my bank account. I come to the store and he is reviewing my roommates order history and can still not find it until the worker that originally ordered the blinds with me comes to the computer and points to it right on the screen in front of him. So the first complete waste of my time. 3) The package arrives and there are no instructions, brackets, or screws. 4) I call and show up at the store 5 minutes later and they give me random on hand brackets and screws. Two brackets for a 2inch blind and two for a 2.5 inch blind since I guess he couldn't look it up. I get home, all four brackets are the same size and none of them work for holding the type of blinds I ordered. Another trip wasted. 5) The next morning I show up with the box and everything that came inside and give back the useless brackets and screws they had given me the night before and they finally agree to contact the vendor to ship me the parts I was already supposed to have and promise to call me Monday morning to let me know that the order was placed and to expect in 3-5 business days and that it should be there the coming Friday (this is now the third trip I should not have had to make over these blinds). 6) Monday passes and so does Friday without a call or a package. I finally call the store manager to find out that the package wont be in till the next week and so I continue to wait. 7) The brackets and screws finally arrive (still no instructions) and I finally install the blinds only to see that they screwed up my order and gave me cordless blinds when I specifically ordered blinds with cords. So now we have one window in the entire house with cordless blinds and its staying that way because I am never dealing with Home Depot and their blinds ever again. Neither will my family or friends after hearing about this and quite a few have. Thank you for wasting at least two and half extra hours of my time and a decent amount of gas coming to and from your store to deal with these blinds when I shouldn't have had to. read more

Carpet installation HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!store service to purchase carpet from Mary was great after that it all went downhill. Rescheduled first appointment, second appointment to install 3 guys showed up stoned. We were first told they were coming at 3 then 6pm showed up at 7 said they would not be hauling away carpet (which we paid for) because there was no room in the truck. Sent them away. Talked to store manager and installation manager. No apology. Seemed annoyed to have to help. They were suppose to be here first thing this morning (2 weeks later). When I called to check on a time I was told by the manager he forgot to put it on the schedule. He would find someone and send them out if he could. It is now 4pm and still waiting!!!! HORRIBLE customer service. I just bought an air compressor and they had a small heater on a 5gal bucket and was very rude to my child for looking at it. Then came up to my wife and accused our boys of stealing a gift card. So we checked all of their pockets and found nothing so she said they must have put it back. Then not one word to us on our way out like "have a nice day" or something along that line at least would be nice. She would NOT have a job if it was up to me. read more

When the Home Depot advertises that they have a line of carpet that can be installed in 5 days, dont believe them. Here is how HD does install -- they contract with a third party, United Home Services, who then turn around and subcontract with an actual installer. They call you to set up an appointment, perhaps two or three days into the 5 day window that was promised. They may or may not have a slot in their schedule for you in the 5 day window. This happened to us, and they had slots only 10 days out. The installer service then offers an apology and says to you "this will not be installed in the 5 days as advertised, so you should contact HD and I think they can give you something". What ever that means! Then they expect you to be home ALL day on the scheduled date. You get an 8AM call from the subcontractor saying they will be there between 1 and 3PM. At that point I could not be there after 2PM, so the subcontractor suggested I reschedule. Calling United Home Services to set up a re-schedule requires waiting on hold for 15 minutes. If you are lucky they can get a reschedule soon. You cannot really cancel your purchase since HD requires up front payment, so you continue to get strung along. read more

My biggest problem is with the appliance delivery. Before Thanksgiving I ordered a new stove. They were supposed to deliver it today (12/17/13). My current stove had broken so I was looking forward to receiving it especially since I have family coming for Christmas to stay with me. I'm told that there are no stoves available (sold more than what they have in stock) and can't deliver it until 12/30/13. They couldn't provide me with a decent alternative that could be delivered before Christmas. And since they waited until the week before Christmas options at other stores are limited and not deliverable before Christmas either. I've waited 3 weeks already and they couldn't tell me before now so I can find alternatives? Customer service was a nightmare trying to talk to people and jumping through their hoops. I was on hold for nearly an hour twice with Home Depot and Maytag. Home Depot doesn't care. I barely received a sorry and they screwed up my Christmas dinner that I'm supposed to cook. I'll never give another dime to Home Depot. I've shopped with Lowes before and their delivery was flawless. read more
