    Elderly experience

OK, I went here because my boyfriend is a guitar maniac. That being said there was a lot to see and it was worthy of exploring. It is a virtual museum of acoustical instrumentation through the ages. Downstairs is a worthy repair shop with knowledgeable experts that were evaluating and reselling instruments. Folks were coming for more than a hours drive to have their artifacts evaluated and resold. Upstairs were lots of other little cubbyholes featuring old and new instruments. And one room where my boyfriend was lost in a dark hole of guitargasms (his word) for over an hour and a half. That room featured the most elaborate and beautiful and exclusive guitars. Elderly is known as being an A+ place to purchase respected and well evaluated instruments. They arrive safely even if shipped across the country. Worthy of your investigation.

This guitar shop deserves the reputation it has. Great selection of instruments and their service department is very professional.

Every other place that showed them in stock actually didn't have it when I called. The Music Manor checked and they did in fact have one, the only one in the lower 48. I called, I asked a lot of questions and they never got annoyed. Before purchasing it I expressed my hesitation regarding shipping delays and possible damage during shipping since this was the only one and it is a gift for Christmas. I made the purchase and these guys exceeded my expectations on every level. I paid online, they shipped it UPS the following day with signature required. It arrived on my door step the day after that. It was faster than I expected and packaged with so much protection that it would have survived a war zone! Thank you Music Manor for patience, professionalism and all around excellent customer service. People you can shop online with these guys without hesitation! Thanks again for helping making Christmas 2023 a memorable one!

I had visited Reeder many years ago, and was completely amazed at the quality of his used and rebuilt pianos, but that was before all that shopping, and 10 or 15 years ago. Was his work really that good? I returned, and there on the shop floor was a gorgeous rebuilt 100-year-old Mason-Hamlin BB! I couldn't stop playing it, even though I loved several other pianos he had there. I might have bought it, but it was black and the one I own is mahogany and matches my other furniture, so I sent my mahogany monster off to him for rebuilding, trusting him to do as beautiful a job on mine as the one in the shop. My trust was well-placed. I have had the piano back for a year now; plenty of time for defects to become apparent. There have been none. I am completely delighted with the work, from the finish to the tone to the action. The regulation is where most rebuilt pianos disappoint, and this has been absolutely spectacular. After hundreds of hours of playing, it remains wonderfully responsive, even and easy to play. Mr. Reeder has a small crew of long-time employees, but insists on transporting the pianos himself and observing the local moving crew. My 1100-lb piano made it from Lansing, Michigan to Chicago and up to my 3rd floor apartment without a hitch. I'm sure Mr. Reeder's presence had something to do with that.

I purchased a guitar on March 27, 2025 at the Lansing, Michigan Guitar Center…read more Guitar: Cordoba C12 CD Today's date: April 23, 2025 The sales associate who entered the sale was apparently a trainee, since she had a trainer/manager talking her through the POS procedure. The guitar was in need of setup. Action was too high and the body was covered with greasy handprints. I never even took the guitar home. It hadn't left the store, yet. The trainer told me that they only had two part-time repair techs and it would probably be two weeks before my guitar was ready. I called Wednesday, April 9 around 5:00 PM to find out the status. It seems that, when I called, they were down to only one part-time tech. Also, after two weeks there were still 8 guitars in the queue ahead of mine, and the part-time tech had no sure idea when he would get to mine. "Monday or Wednesday of next week?" I gathered those are the two days he works. On Wednesday, April 16, the tech called me to tell me that the setup was done, but... Oh, no. Apparently, a new employee, now ex-employee, carelessly placed something heavy on the shelf above the workbench where my guitar was being set up. It fell on the guitar and damaged the top. He said he would fix it for free. I said that I wasn't happy with that, since my NEW guitar had never left the store and it was now a "damaged" new guitar that I paid full price for. To Fish's credit, when he realized that, he spoke to the manager about getting me a new guitar. She agreed, but it had to be ordered because they didn't have another one in the store. Fish said three to five days for it to come in, and he would set it up as soon as it did. Buying a guitar should not be this hard. I paid over $2000 for a guitar I haven't been able to take home and play, yet. I am not happy. I can't be upset with the tech, since he can only do so much in the time he has available. The fact that this store is working with only one part-time tech IS upsetting, given that they continue to sell guitars that they can't service. As of April 23, nearly four weeks since I first purchased the new guitar that was later damaged at the store, the replacement still hasn't been ordered. I have had enough and will travel to the two hours to the store to get a refund. No stars for Lansing Guitar Store 324.
