It has been just a week since I updated my review of Best Buy based upon my misadventures buying a refrigerator from them followed by purchasing haul away and installation services. While I had no plans to update my review, as the experience has finally wound down I decided it was appropriate to write a review based upon the entire process now that my old refrigerator is, in fact, hauled away and my new refrigerator is kinda sorta installed. As I'd noted, I'd had a poor experience eight years ago and since then have sworn off Best Buy despite an affection for the company from an experience interviewing with them many years ago. My refrigerator died not long before Labor Day. I'd never had to deal with replacing an appliance. However, I needed to get done fairly quickly since food was going bad and so were some medicines. I looked around. My space in my home isn't the greatest and dimensions had to really be just right. That wasn't an easy task. I checked quite a few places. Best Buy was having Labor Day specials and I found a fairly simple fridge at a great price. I ordered it as it had nearly perfect dimensions for my space. I scheduled delivery and opted for the install and haul away package. So far, so good. The first attempt at haul away/install occurred over Labor Day weekend on Saturday. I received advance texts with clear directions on what to do prior to their arrival. They gave me a window of time a couple days from when I placed the order. They arrived on time. The unfortunate part begins with the discovery that the dead fridge was hooked into my waterline underneath my kitchen sink. Apparently, Best Buy drivers are not allowed to disconnect what takes about five minutes. We discussed options and it was agreed that I would call them to set up a revisit. Within the hour, I had the disconnect done and called to schedule a new time. They said I couldn't do it. Despite being told to do exactly this, I was told I had to wait until the end of their shift so that the lack of installation/haul away was in the system. I was literally still within my delivery time. Never mind that one rep had already called me about it. So, I was stuck with spoiled foods and spoiling medications. So frustrating. So simple to fix. I had the fridge ready to for hook-up, I had the old fridge ready to be hauled away. Instead, I had to wait and buy the time I was able to actually put the revisit in motion only the 3rd was available (I was even off an extra day on the 2nd, however, by that point it was clear they didn't care about me, my meds, my fridge, or anything but their bottom line. After an afternoon spent trying to get things arranged, my frustrations boiled over. I came close to simply canceling haul away/install and arranging for another person to do it. I came close to returning it. I finally rescheduled for today, my next day off. I received the same reminder call. I asked them to make sure to send the manual (they actually did. Yay.). The delivery team was here on time in my window of 1-5pm (they actually arrived around 1:20pm and called 10 minutes away). Another fun catch: In addition to being unable to disconnect a refrigerator from water, they also cannot reverse the hinge on a reversible hinge (which I needed for my wheelchair). So, if you're keeping score. Install and haul away is a waste of time and money. Don't use it. They have all kinds of limits that are not in writing and I've yet to experience anyone interested in actually helping. If you've read my reviews, you know I lean positive. Out of 1800+ reviews, I have about 16 1-star reviews. This is easily one of the worst retail experiences I've had and undoubtedly the end of my relationship with Best Buy. There's not a chance I will use them again. As I told their social media, even after the initial issues there was a great chance of fixing the problem and helping me feel good about it. Best Buy failed at every point and, worse to me, never seemed to care. Best Buy? Bye-bye. read more

First delivery folks did not know how to do it, so they scheduled an experienced crew - who also did not know how to do it. Third attempt for a Saturday - I explained it had to be morning or early afternoon. When no one called to confirm, as I had been promised, I called and found it was scheduled for between 3-7:30. Wow, Best Buy has really gone downhill - all the way to the bottom! I went in knowing what I wanted and bought a top ranked TV, sales person was inexperienced but that was OK - at least that is what I thought. She told me it would take over a week to have it delivered even though the website said only 2 days, my Samsung is completely dead but I went ahead and said OK. On the day it was to be delivered I was sent a message that the delivery was not going to happen. The number they gave me to call was just to a computer so no person to talk to. I called the store, the person in customer service would not let me talk to the store manager and was extremely rude - he eventually said "have a nice day" and hung up on me. I called back asking for sales this time trying to talk to the person who sold me the TV, $2449.97 is not cheap for a 65". This person was eventually able to transfer me a person who could help me (no direct dial for some reason) - she said it was going to be another week! No Pacer playoff games, no Fever games and no Indy 500! What a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. On the plus side, I purchased a TV from AMAZON later that day and they delivered and installed it the very next morning while saving me $1062.19! Amazon to the rescue! I'm not that far removed from my teens years where I hated being at work and just didn't want to do my job. I decided to treat myself this holiday to a big screen Smart TV and I knew Best Buy would have the best deals. I went online for the Best buy Indy store, and sure enough, the prices were terrific for Black Friday. I even compared the prices to Target and Wal-Mart, and by far, Best Buy Indy had the best deals for Smart TV on Black Friday. I decided to go with a 65" Roku TV that was on sale for $339. I found this to be an incredible deal! The Best Buy Indianapolis store itself is nice and the staff are wonderful and do a good job answering questions you have on products. The store is easy to move around in and they have a great selection of products in the store as well as online. The customer service is great when it comes to inquiries about purchases. I have not had an issue with Best Buy on a purchase. GEEK squad is an excellent purchase for protection and support on your computer as well as any products. I have had Geek Squad support on my laptop for many years, and they have been very helpful and professional on fixing issues with my laptop. Best Buy is a wonderful store with excellent quality staff and products. I would request anyone to shop at Best Buy. You will find a great deal! read more

We were picking up a new computer that was set up by the Geek Squad yesterday. (We were 5 minutes late for our appointment.) We tried to call ahead to let you know, but was unable to get through. We were greeted by a multi-colored hair male employee. His appearance was very disturbing. From the start, he was offensive. We are 80 years old. I guess he thought we were completely senile and talked down to us. Really! You can't be a little patient with older people? His attitude was unacceptable and his tone was abrasive. He also acted very rushed and pressured to get rid of us. The day before, we dealt with Cody. He was wonderful. It was a totally different experience. Kudos to Cody!!!! After a meeting on the north side, my wife mentioned she wanted to look for a computer (one that I wasn't tying up writing Yelp reviews on). She was looking for a laptop that was average sized and would do the basics. She suggested Best Buy which was just a short drive to the out buildings at Castleton Square. We were greeted as we entered and when we headed over towards the computer, one of the staff named Sarah saw us and asked if we needed any help. Boy, did we ever! So, after a few questions about what we thought we wanted and what we needed the machine to do, she showed us four types including the one my wife ended up purchasing. It was an upgrade from one of the early ones she was shown and this one was on sale for the same price! While there, she also picked out some software and accessories that would make getting the machine more ready to go. Since the store is nearly an hour from our home, we were able to take the computer with us to the Avon store to have the Geek Squad set up everything for us. We simply dropped it off there and asked for a one day turn around to have the machine ready to go. Overall, I was very pleased that Sarah offered help and walked us through the process from start to finish. I had an appointment to have my phone repaired. Someone from Best Buy, probably the technician, called to tell me they were not authorized to work on my Samsung phone. An hour before my appointment! The Best Buy website said they were authorized. I asked the tech why he waited until 1 hour before to call. He had several excuses. I went here for help with an issue I've had with IMovie for a while now. They were impossible to reach on their website and I finally set up an appointment with them over the phone which took 30 minutes. I get there early and there's one guy working who is talking with a customer. He realizes I have an appointment and just helps both of us at the same time during MY appointment. I asked him multiple times of what he's doing will delete my project that I've been working on for days. He says no repeatedly. He ended up fucking up my project even more and didn't resolve the issue I had. This shit is terrible. read more

Best Buy is where I go to get a deal on electronics mainly by shopping their "open box" items or if I need to have my computer repaired since I purchased it at Best Buy. This particular location has some awesome employees that I have the pleasure of working with when I go to make a purchase. If I need help with a particular issue at the store level that they can help me with, they are willing and ready to help. I appreciate that especially because working in the retail industry can be challenging and dealing with customers all day, day after day, who may not be on their best behaviour can be maddening. My experience with the Geek Squad team at this location has been good too. I had to take my computer in for repair. The Geek Squad "agent" made sure that the vendor knew exactly what the issue was and because they explained it with precise detail, it helped the vendor authorize a replacement. Overall, my experience at this Best Buy location has always been positive which is why I keep returning. read more

I had a hard time getting help also and the service persons were being distracted by people walking up and not following the line order, leaving a couple of us to stand there for a period of time. They do have a wide selection and timely delivery if needed, but I am annoyed by Total Tech false advertising. You pay $180 for this service which is supposed to give you extended warranties on the things you buy- but if you don't continue to give them an additional $180 each year thereafter, the "extended warrantee" goes away. Since appliances generally have a warrantee when you buy them, claiming this extends it if you have Total Tech when you buy something is false. read more

Was planning on buying a 65 inch TCL tv. Went into the store to see if I'd be able to transport it in my car. The salesperson told me I could get it delivered for free so decided to take that route. Ordered online and scheduled a delivery date. They called a few days before to confirm the date. The day of, I got a text message confirming their delivery within a 2 hour window. And I got a call when they were 15 minutes away. Pretty great delivery scheduling. And the guys who made the delivery were very friendly and set up the tv for me. Walked in today looking to purchase 2 smart TVs for my kids. Approximately 6 to 8 employees were standing and conversing 20 feet from the entrance. Did not sound like a meeting. I continued to the Theatre department. While there for approximately 20 minutes with no assistance. I was irritated. I walked over to the cell phone department and asked for assistance. The older gentlemen used his walkie talkie to ask for me to be assisted for it was not his department. As I walked back toward the Theatre dept., it seemed as if 1 or 2 of the associates were about to head my way. After another 5 minutes of me standing by the 2 smart TVs I wanted to purchase, the older gentlemen walked pass me again and said, no one came over to help you yet? I said, "no and by the way don't bother, I'm leaving. I know when my business is not valued." I walked out, drove to Walmart and purchased the 2 Smart TV's with the extended warranties. They had a great young man who used to work there and he was a manager. I believe his name was Nami or something like that. He was awesome! I guess he left to work for a better company. Waste of time. We purchased a refurbished laptop online through Best Buy and was sent the same brand of laptop but one that did not have as much memory storage. Went back to the store to return and purchase another one. Once again we were shipped a lesser version. This is a laptop for an employee at work and now we are already behind two weeks. I go into the store to purchase a laptop for the third time. The manager assists and finds me a new laptop within the same price range and RAM to purchase and install so that we will have the memory capabilities that we need for our IT department. It was going to take over a week to ship the laptop so he paid for three day delivery and waved the fee for us due to the issues we had faced thus far. He also comped our genius appt to install the RAM. Yesterday I dropped off the laptop and ram and the geek guru asked if I was sure it was compatible, I responded saying yes because an employee from your store purchased it for me. I get a voicemail two hours later that it is not compatible and there is nothing we can purchase for this laptop to have enough memory storage that we need. So we wasted a month trying to get a new laptop and time I have spent going back and forth to the store. I called today to have them return in and refund everything. Took about 20 minutes and although they are returning everything I didn't even get a "sorry about that, or what can we do for you next time". That will be the last time I shop at Best Buy. In store experience okay, they didn't have the iPad in stock with 10.9 screen to use Magic Keyboard with! I went online in store and purchased a new iPad, it was schedule for delivery 1-4-24, it never arrived! They then lied to me in a email and in several chats, and on the phone! They told me it would be refunded to credit card, after many, many contacts story was the same, you are getting a refund. I then receive email saying that I sent it to my address that I lived at over a year ago, and error was mine so no refund! I then informed them since the charge went thru I could/would not have used wrong address as the card would decline! They reviewed everything again and then say no refund or replacement! Keep in mind I have purchased a refrigerator, washer/dryer, cell phone, induction cooktop, and several tv' in the past 2 years... SHAME ON YOU! Best Buy seems to be making a comeback. Gone are the days of the store being full of racks upon racks of DVDs and CD. Now the store is more of a mix of a variety of electronics, small and major appliances, tvs, audio equipment, cameras, video games, etc. They even still carry a few cds and dvds; however, it now covers less floor space. One of the advantages to still shopping at Best Buy is if you need to find something and have it ASAP, you can search their inventory prior to stepping in the store. I love their online feature in which you can shop for the item that your looking for and have it waiting for you at the customer service desk when you arrive. One of the major drawbacks to this is that you could find yourself waiting in said customer service line to pickup you items, so it might actually be quicker to just walk in and pickup the items yourself. Overall, the staff is usually friendly and helpful. I can't comment on their Geek Squad offerings, as I never use their service, but if I am looking to replace a camera, cords, or headphones ASAP and I'm in the area, it isn't a bad place to shop. read more

Worst Beat Buy by far. Not a huge Best Buy fan to start with. Went to browse a few items we were considering purchasing for our home and the sales associate was incredibly rude. I was looking at a Viking stove on display and the sales guy told me not to touch any of the appliances as they had just wiped them down. I find that to be incredibly rude and discourteous. Very poor customer service by Geek Squad installers at this location. I needed help just pairing my Viper remote start I just bought inside the store, but was refused any sort of help. Best Buy originally installed the Viper remote start, which is why I went back. they said there's absolutely no time to help me, and I should just "google it, because it's simple". Yet, wouldn't help me for 5min. I love Best Buy for years. This is definitely an outlier, but still poor customer service. I ended up returning my purchase and now may look elsewhere. read more

Best Buy is the worst. I had Covid for 6 weeks during Christmas and holidays, which included a short stay in the hospital. I opened my gifts in Mid January that were purchased day after Thanksgiving from Best Buy by family members and air fryer had a dent in it and bread maker did not work. Customer service stated I had only 15 days to return from date of purchase which would have expired by Christmas day Covid or not. I went in to specifically look at an in-dash replacement for a large truck (motorhome) stereo, blue tooth, backup camera. I finally got great help from Patrick who researched other stores for all the parts that were needed. That was after dealing with a horrible salesperson who tried to sell me a stereo that wasn't even in stock, plus he walked away from me in the middle of our conversation. Patrick knows who I'm talking about as I pointed him out. I wish I could have talked to the manager. read more
