After examining and diagnosing my PowerBeats Pro ("device") MacExperience breached a written promise to repair my device. On August 15, 2024, I brought my device into a MacExperience shop with a pairing issue. The clerk observed the pairing issue and advised that my item was under warranty and would be repaired. The "system" was down, so I hand wrote my name, email address, mailing address, and phone number on a sheet of paper that contained no disclaimer or "fine print." More importantly, the clerk, after examining my device, wrote "won't pair" as my device's issue. As detailed below an shown in the exhibits, MacExperience (1) confirmed the diagnosis and (2) provided written assurance to repair or arrange for the repair of my device. On August 16, 2024, I received the following update from MacExperience: "Our technicians have diagnosed your repair and ordered part(s). Once the part(s) have arrived, the technician will begin the repair and you will be notified when the repair has been completed." (See Exhibit B). On August 19, 2024, I received the update that, "Our technicians have shipped your device to one of Apple's repair centers for repair. Most mail-in repairs take 5-10 days from the time they are shipped to be completed and returned to our store." However, MacExperience, notified me that would not honor their written promise because an Apple technician detected "liquid damage" with no further explanation. Neither the MacExperience clerk nor I observed any liquid damage when the MacExperience clerk examined my device; again, after examining, he wrote "won't pair" on the intake form. When pressed on honoring its written promise, MacExperience blamed "automated notifications." Keep this lack of integrity in mind when determining where to go for a Mac repair. read more

These guys really saved my cheese when my trusty 9-year-old MacBook suddenly bit the dust last week. As a freelance writer, my laptop IS my livelihood. I couldn't start it up at all (nor could the Apple Store), and desperately needed to access a bunch of work in progress, invoices and other valuable info from my desktop. (Full disclosure, I went to another provider first, but they wanted to send my whole laptop off somewhere remote for evaluation and I wasn't comfortable with that.) I dropped it off here and they called within 24 hours to let me know they were able to recover pretty much everything I needed. I picked up the old laptop and an external HD with the data saved onto it later that day. These services aren't cheap, but the quick and successful recovery was totally worth it to me. read more

I have had my Macbook Pro 14" taken in 2 times within the past 2 years and they have not only been extremely quick to fix it, but they are also very thorough in fixing your Macbook when you take it in. 2 years ago I broke the screen, and a few weeks ago, I started to notice something defective and not right with the spacebar, and it almost popped off 2 times. It was very bent to the point in that eventually, the left and right part of it no longer worked and I had to move my hand in a weird direction in order to use it, and I had to put excessive pressure. Very frustrating for sure! I got to be honest-I'm a very fast typer so my hand would just get sore after some time. So we made an appointment and we took it in on Friday, and they said there was something wrong with the spacebar and that they would fix it and order the part. It took only TWO business days for them to fix it. (They were closed for the Saturday and Sunday.) Another minor issue I've been dealing with for a little while, maybe a year or so, was that the battery wouldn't charge unless if the cord was in it EXACTLY, and I had to close my computer before it could work, and sometimes it wouldn't even charge at all. It just had to be in the right position. But we got it today, and much to our surprise, not only did they fix the spacebar, they ALSO fixed other stuff that needed fixing too, and they replaced the entire keyboard and speaker and battery! I had to make sure it wasn't a new computer when I first used it. Lol! The people here are SUPER smart and friendly, and I HIGHLY recommend them over any other tech service in the Indy area. 10/10! This is an extremely good alternative to the Apple Store when it comes to repairs and service. I walked in on a Friday and there was no waiting. I was told it would be one to three days before they could get to my laptop. It turned out to be only one day. They looked at it and called me with a price estimate for repair and fixed it that day, a Saturday, and it was ready to go. I had spilled an entire 12 ounce soft drink into the keyboard and the laptop would no longer stay powered on. It would come on for about 10 seconds and then shut it self off. I really was not expecting my 10 year old Air laptop to be salvageable, but MacExperience was able to repair my laptop's mother board with a treatment and everything works fine now including the keyboard and the trackpad. Previously my trackpad was only sporadic operational. Given its age, I had assumed it was worn out. But since I got it back, it now works 100%. Was it just dust and/or dirt? I visited MacExperience before the holidays to see if they could diagnose why my Macbook Pro was acting like a POS and taking forever to do anything. This is one of the only places in Indy, besides the Apple Store, that is authorized to work on Macs and Apple products. I couldn't get an appointment with the Apple Store for months, but MacExperience could see me the next day, so off I went with my laptop in tow. Making an appointment online was super easy. Checking in once you get to the store is easy. They did a basic diagnostic while I was in the store, but I needed to leave my laptop with them so that their people could take a closer look. It's around $70 to diagnose the problem, and then they contact you and let you know what you need done. You can either accept the work or decline it. Because I was getting my laptop checked out during the holidays, and because it was during a pandemic when a lot more people were working from home and thus needed more help with personal computers and technology, they told me it was going to take 6-8 weeks before they could look at it. Ay dios mio! I could have paid an extra fee to get it expedited, but I didn't want to and preferred to take my chances with the wait. It ended up taking about 7 weeks to hear back about my computer, but they kept me updated along the way. Long story short: My laptop was indeed a POS and I could have paid to get things replaced, but I decided to just put it out of its misery and get a new laptop. So although MacExperience didn't actually do anything to my laptop except tell me what was wrong with it, that was fine with me because I had been wondering for a while whether it was time to get a new laptop, and it turned out that it was. MacExperience occasionally has sales on Macbooks and other Apple gear. They sell refurbished computers but also new computers, too. I didn't buy my new laptop from them, but it's good to know that they're an option. The customer service here is very good. It's easy for the people behind the counter to act frustrated with all of the dumb questions that get throw at them every day, but they treated me well, as well as all of the people I saw them interact with. In the end, my MacBook was fixed and all is well! But it took a bit to get it done, I'll explain: I made an appointment for a Friday afternoon and arrived at 5 minutes prior to my time. I was shocked when I came in to the entire place packed with people and they said it would be "a while" before I could be seen by the tech. Not only is that not a great experience, but they were not social distancing inside at all. Ideally, folks could wait in their cars until their appt time and then come inside when the tech is ready. That was not the case, and people were very close together inside of the store with no where else to go. They were not sanitizing the counters in between people either. It was a bit shocking. When the check-in desk finally cleared up after 10 minutes, I asked if I could come back at a less busy time because I did not feel comfortable with the crowd. They said to come in first thing in the morning! So I did just that, the very next day I was there at 8:59 (they open at 9 am) so that I could be first in line to get in and out safely. This second attempt was much more safe and I could see them sanitizing this time before opening. If you need a repair done, they do great work. I paid for the middle tier of service ($99) and my MacBook was done in just a few business days. But I'm disappointed to see that they aren't limiting the capacity of the store or taking any precautions to reduce the waiting room. Long story short: go in the mornings! Buyer beware. I have a 12" Macbook from 2016. The battery failed and I made an appointment at MacExperience because they had an appointment available sooner than I could get at the Apple store. I went in, they ran diagnostics and confirmed everything was great except for the failed battery. They started to submit for repair and I asked for a quote, knowing that Apple says the recommended price for battery repair on my Macbook is $199. They really didn't want to quote me and when they did, they said $600. Needless to say I packed it up and went home, wasting a 2 hour round trip (from Muncie). Two days later I took it to Apple and had the repair completed for $199 plus tax. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THEIR PRICING STRUCTURE IS NOT CAPPED BY APPLE!!! THEY CHARGE WHATEVER THEY WANT. read more

Scam scam scam! Went there today after scheduling a repair slot through Apple. They are falsely reporting available slots. I brought in a MacBook with a known butterfly keyboard recall and they quoted 8days. Then they tried to sell me a priority repair slot! To top it off they said I need to pay for the repair when it was free. I took it to Apple store and they fixed it for free same day. Manager: I state your business is a scam because it is. You provided a schedule of available repair slots to the Apple Independent Repair Provider Program that do not exist. If you cannot service equipment for eight days you are officially slower than mail in service. Small business happens, people call in, jobs take longer than expected. That would excuse a three day wait. Eight days is a scam. Especially when it becomes ten days because you encourage and sell fast passes. I had a positive experience here this last year when Apple stopped taking repairs due to covid. My mom, not knowing any better about her iMac, had not turned it on for a VERY extended amount of time which caused some major issues. They were able to do a full recovery. Yes, it did take a few weeks. However, it was made very clear to me that due to the influx of repairs due to apple not taking any at that time that it would take longer. With that information I still chose to proceed, which is fine. They are working with a much more limited staff compared to Apple so the time frame made a ton of sense. Also, yes, there were diagnostic fees. I have seen complaints about these fees in other reviews and I think it is really important to remember that this is a small local business. I had an appointment time of 10:20am. I arrived just a few minutes before 10:20 and wasn't helped until 10:40. My thinking is if I make an appointment that I will be helped at that time because that is the whole point of taking the time to schedule one. So honesty I was already frustrated before being helped and was very close to just walking out. Once being helped he tried walking me through everything I had already done while on the phone with Apple. It took him awhile to comprehend that I didn't need to go through the same steps. Once we got past that hurdle he wasn't able to tell me exactly what was wrong just that it was a hardware issue that was causing my bottom mic to not work properly. Which was an assumption I already made due to the mic not working. He said all that to say it would cost me about $480 to have my mic fixed on my iPhone7, which is more than what the phone is actually worth. I tried to get my Macbook repaired under warranty here during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the Apple store was closed. They said the queue was 7 days before they would even diagnosis it and they needed to hold my laptop the entire time. When asked if there was any way to add my name to the queue so I could drop off the laptop the day before they would be able to work on it (it still works, just has battery issues and I needed it for work) I was told that they could prioritize it for $50. And that would take 5 days. Or I could pay $100 and they would hold it for 4 days before working on it or $200 would take 2 days. Or if I paid $249 per hour, they would diagnose it within 1 day. Pure price gouging and taking advantage of the crisis thinking that their local customers have no other options. I spoke with Apple and they said I can send it to them and with shipping that I would have it back in a week... less time than this store would have had it sitting on a shelf while they refused to look at it. As I told the rep, I would rather send it to Apple directly and wait a week for it to come back than deal with unethical practices like this. I understand they are busier with Apple stores being closed. But telling your customers "You have to wait in line during this crisis unless you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars" is taking advantage of the current bad situation. read more

Don't waste your time here. Had an appt for apple care+. Needed a new phone because of damage but they had zero phones in stock. I could have left my damaged (but working) phone with them for several days or I was offered to pay a $500 deposit and to take my own damaged phone home. They would keep the deposit if I lost the damaged phone or it became more damaged (I have apple care + what?!) finally I agreed. Then I was informed I would still need to leave my phone with them for diagnostics for the entire day. NO THANK YOU. If I could give this place 0 stars- I would, trust me. After making an appointment through Apple Care for 3:20 pm I wait almost 40 minutes after check-in for my phone to be serviced. Upon check in my phone completely shuts off and my phone is WIPED. After finally getting up to the counter they tried to haggle me to pay the $29 repair fee before my phone was even touched. I told them I would pay them when I came to pick the phone up (good thing too). When I drove back over there I was told by two rude employees that they were unable to fix it because of my Face ID being broken and that they tried to contact me??? Ummmm you have my phone in your possession? Another employee came up and again haggled me for the $29 repair fee WHEN NOTHING WAS FIXED!!! At this point I'm visibly upset, yet all the employees could not give a shit saying there was nothing they could do but send my phone off and that the price was now $100 to fix it. I asked if I could schedule it to be sent off (because of work obligations) and the employee told me no, that it would need to be made online. I immediately called apple care and they told me that they ran 2 diagnostics one in person with me and one after I had left. The Face ID failed on the 2nd time so the failure was in fact on their part and not mine. Went to Best Buy and they fixed it in 20 minutes- no complaints. I went in with a minor problem. I wasn't sure if I was backing up to an external drive correctly. Even though it was near the end of their day, they got my drive back to one of the techs and he reappeared about 10 minutes later to tell me all was well. They didn't charge me anything. Stores like this are rare indeed, especially for Macs. I've spent hours, in fact entire DAYS, in Apple stores. If I need them for a repair (and please God I hope I won't need them) I will be sure to bring my computer back here. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I will never go here again, but I especially don't recommend going there if your product is covered by Apple Care. I could not get into the Fashion Mall store, so I decided to try this authorized partner. I had to drive 90 minutes from home to the location. They checked me in promptly and I thought ... this is going to be great. A few minutes later, they called me over and took my MacBook for diagnostics. So far, so good. Then the technician tells me that my device has a known issue with the keyboard and it likely needs to be replaced. Ok, fine. I have apple care, so ... go for it. He proceeds to tell me they have 450 computers in front of me, so it's going to be about ... 5 weeks. However, if I'm willing to pay for "expedited service" they can get me in. Wow. They wouldn't even take my computer and snd it to Apple on my behalf, because "it's an issue that we're qualified to fix." Now, I'm willing to accept there might be a back-up of repairs as a downstream result of the pandemic, though I'm suspicious of 450 computers in front of me. The fact that they are willing to move me to the front of the line for a fee strikes me as wildly unethical. They could have easily told me they are working with a 5-week backlog before I came into my appointment. (which took me 3 hours round trip) I eventually got into the store at the Fashion Mall. They immediately took my machine into the back and blew the gunk out of my keyboard. The technician told me it might or might not solve the problem, but probably not long-term. For that, she'd need to send it back to the depot for repair. I could do that now, or at a time that works for me. Here's my take ... the people at MacExperience wanted to upsell me and they were unwilling to put forth even the slightest effort. I could be wrong. Things might be exactly as they say. I was greatly relieved because I thought I might have to replace it. Instead I paid $29.95 and now it works like it is brand new. I love this place! With my wife working from home because of the pending snow storm a week ago, she needed to use our 2016 MacBook the next day. Somehow I'd zapped this machine with an external power battery recharge & couldn't get it to power back on. I thought I killed the battery or fried the HD, one hour before MacExperience closed. I called them right away to see if they had a replacement battery for my older rig & they did. I rushed in right away to have them take a look. John & his techs were great, so cool under pressure, as the freezing rain was about to hit anytime. They could've said, sorry we can help today, as we are closing early, like everyone was that evening. I would've totally understood. BUT instead, they tried a few quick counter key command moves, when those didn't work, they took 10 minutes in their lab & problem solved my situation. Fortunately was a relatively simple fix. They saved the day, as my wife would've lost a day of work due not having a computer to do her job remotely. My daughter's relatively new iPad wasn't charging. I called the store and they told me they could check the battery if I brought it in, so I drove down from Fishers. The person at the counter may not have been the same person I talked to on the phone, but he didn't check the battery. He basically typed in the device's serial number into a computer and told me that Apple would most likely just replace the iPad, so I should head to the Apple store. I wish they would have told me that on the phone and saved me the trip. read more

There are a few companies that help you with every detail of your device and give full insight and control of what is being done. I was struggling with my Mac, it was already more than five years of age, because of this the Apple company was not able to help me by either fixing it or checking it out to see what was wrong with it. Many people I spoke with highly recommended this (Mac Experience) company, and after I walked into the building I realized how wonderful their services were, they were very polite and straight to the point. They offered their services and made sure I was informed on any findings that were causing failure in my laptop. After finding out that my internal hard drive was damaged, it was essential for me to retrieve that data and They went on to properly retrieve such data, but right after they got in contact allowing me to make decisions in relation in to saving my laptop as well, I ultimately made every decision in the process of saving both my devise and my data. I had full insight of all details of the work they were doing as they were working on it and I was presented with the details of the cost as well along the way. This way I could make adequate decisions and ultimately I had full control as to how much I was williing to invest in fixing my devise. I am so relieved that we have such great technicians, today my 10 year old Macbook Pro laptop is working just like New, and I have pictures and documents that I could never ever afford to loose. I am very relieved to see that we have this resource here in Indiana. I am very pleased with Don and Adam and the techs that fixed my computer. I had a corrupted operating system that had to be wiped from my mac. They were able to save the data on the computer and install a new operating system. Don and Adam were at the front desk and were very helpful explaining everything. If you have the option to have your apple device repaired elsewhere, do it - especially if it is a battery or display issue. Key issues with MacExperience 1. Obscene/unclear fees 2. Diagnostics fees & expedited fees don't apply to the repair of your device 3. Staff don't appear to be well versed with Apple products 4. Poor communication 5. Lack of ownership I encountered an issue with my iMac & needed to get it repaired urgently, as I worked remotely 100% & attended college FT. I scheduled an appt with MacExperience as they were the only "certified apple repair" company in the state that could work on older iMac models. During my appointment, as well as throughout the diagnostics process it became clear that the staff were not as knowledgeable as I anticipated. They rely solely on their diagnostics but even after testing they still didn't have an idea. I was given some subpar options for iMac issues, the first was a recommendation to Not Repair due to the year of the iMac, second option: purchase a used refurbished iMac from them. I inquired about what the options would be to repair they said the issue could be this or it could be that- therefore I would have to pay for the repairs/parts for the first idea of what might be wrong & if that didn't work then I would have to pay restocking fees for the parts to go back to the warehouse + pay for the second part of the repair. The other option was data retrieval - amounting to over $400 to "try" to migrate data onto an external hard drive. The story is much to long for my to put on here but the irony in their business operations is heavy, I spoke with a gentleman named John? (The person who handles telephone communications & his voice can be heard on the MacExperience recording) prior to picking up my iMac & was able to express my concerns & frustrations & would like a refund for the diagnostics fee at the very least- he informed me that he would speak to the manager Joel & it shouldn't be a problem & there will be note of this on my account. I picked up my iMac & mentioned this convo/refund for the fee & the person working the counter (he's the MGR at another location) & he stated that there is no record or notes of this. I explained to him the problems & my conversation with John & he was dismissive, rude & I felt incredibly belittled while all of his staff (at least 5 young guys) sat there to listen in on our conversation. I never put down a company & trust me I am always one who offers praise but this experience really has upset me & I feel that they took something from me personally & financially. Note: I paid the $99 expedited fee plus a diagnostics fee of $69.95, 7 days went by after dropping off my iMac & I didn't receive an email or call so I called the store to cancel the expedited diagnostics & ironically John states "the tech has just started the diagnostics process so you won't be able to cancel"! The computer was never fixed nor was any alternative solution amended & I never received any refund whatsoever. read more

I really like this store. the staff are friendly and knowledgable. Ive taken a Mac in once or twice and they have always got it all straightened out! The store will not price a battery replacement for service over the phone. Must come to store and pay for diagnostics before providing a quote. the Macbook has error message for battery service. Purchased in 2013 makes sense it should be replace. No need for diagnostics. The doctors office is the only place I don't get a price first before doing business. That said, they've set up their biz in a way that they are certified to do Warrenty work, but much more often than not charge excessive fees to complete warrenty work on phones or computers that would otherwise be free or a much lower price at the Apple store. Although everywhere quoted me at $130 for the battery and installation the rude guy at Castletown said it would be 300 dollars and take several weeks! It seemed he was just trying not to work on that Friday afternoon. I purchased the battery myself (which this place does not sell!) on Amazon for 40 bucks and installed it myself.
