I had a rather nightmare drop with my car's key fob. With the help of a friend, we were able to get…read moreit functional again. However, there was no doubt I needed to get a new one made. After contacting a handful of places, it was apparent I would need to actually order it. I had a couple friends recommend Batteries Plus. The friend I was with contacted them, determined they did key fobs (including the programming), and got a price estimate. It took me a couple days to get there. This location is on Pendleton Pike in a free-standing building that is simple but does the job. They have a couple non-ADA parking spots. There's also a ramp back by a side door where they typically come out to actually do the batteries that require installation. It's definitely not an ADA ramp, however, it worked. I did a first visit on Saturday. I spoke to the manager. He was friendly, but very firm that the price I was quoted was definitely incorrect. He thought maybe the company's AI voice mail may have quoted it, but my inclination is to think maybe someone quoted a price for the non-push start version of my fob. Regardless, I was given a significantly higher price once I arrived. I considered going elsewhere, however, I was there and it was convenient. So, I paid and was told it would be in on Wednesday or Thursday of the following week. They called me on Tuesday just after lunch to let me know it was in. They were pretty steady with business, and I did have to wait about 20-30 minutes for the programming and install. The manager was present again, and he was very friendly. Both employees I met were friendly and helpful. The programming went well, and I was out of there fairly quickly. This was a solid experience. While I can't go 5 stars due to the price mix-up and accessibility issues, it was a solid 4-star for me. I looked around a bit - they carry quite a few different batteries along with other similar products. Batteries Plus is a national chain that started in Wisconsin 37 years ago. They have over 700 locations nationwide. It's 24 hours after getting my fob. All is well. I've had no complications or issues. Overall, I'm a satisfied customer.

That loyalty ended on January 19th. Some time ago, my retired father purchased and had a key fob programmed at Batteries Plus so I could safely warm up my car while waiting inside at work overnight. I work nights and must be out in all weather, including winter storms. When he tested the key fob for the very first time, the remote start did not work. When my father returned to the store to ask for help troubleshooting, he was immediately met with hostility from the store manager, Ryan Nicks. Instead of offering assistance or basic customer service, Ryan was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. He brushed my father off and tried to blame our vehicle rather than even consider that the key fob Batteries Plus sold and programmed might be the issue. After confirming, with proof, that the problem was in fact the key fob and not our vehicle, my father returned again. He had paid $200 for this key fob and was simply asking for help. Once again, Ryan Nicks responded with the same hostile attitude, refusing to be helpful and escalating the situation unnecessarily. My father is not someone who causes scenes or looks for confrontation. For him to come home upset says everything about how poorly he was treated. It is incredibly upsetting to know he spent his hard-earned money trying to keep his daughter safe during winter nights, only to be met with disrespect and outright hostility from a store manager. Advice to ownership: A manager who treats loyal customers this way is a liability. If this is how Ryan Nicks behaves with us, it's almost guaranteed other customers are being treated the same. Most people had no clue and some suggested Best Buy and/or HHGregg. Ummmm...those places want you to BUY new electronics and would most likely give you an estimate too outrageous to even consider repairing. I was determined to find out if my TV could be fixed since it was less than 5 years old. I went onto Yelp with little success (sorry!) and then to Angie's List. THAT is how I found ITR. I spent some time talking to the owner on Saturday when I was dropping off my 37" Polaroid TV for repair. He has been at this location for over 30 years. BTW...if you are a member of Angie's List, there is a $10 coupon to use towards repairs. Unfortunately, we live in an era of everything being disposable. TV broken? Just throw it out and buy a new one. Yes, I admit, sometimes that is more cost effective, but look what that is doing to our environment! Landfills are full of non-biodegradable junk. Yes, there are electronic recyclers, but again, some people don't want to go to the trouble of finding them and just dump dump dump! It turns out that ITR Electronics has been seeing a great number of flat screen TVs lately for repair. They overheat and the power source burns out. That is what was wrong with my TV. It cost $189.95 (minus the $10 Angie's List coupon) to repair and now my TV is working like new. A similar TV would cost between $500-$1000 to replace...believe me, I looked. The owner suggested running a small oscillating fan behind the TV to keep it cool so I don't experience the same issues down the road. I will take his advice and hopefully the TV will be with me for years to come. I highly recommend this electronic repair shop in Indianapolis! It is located on the east side of downtown. Not the best area in town, so they close early (4:30 p.m. week nights; 9:00-2:00 on Saturdays).
