We had to remodel our entire house, and ordered cabinets (kitchen, bar, laundry room and master bath) and closets (two bedrooms) from Best Buy Cabinets. David the owner did a terrific job from start to finish. He advised us throughout wrt design details, which was especially critical with our very limited kitchen space. He stopped by twice to make sure that the design is precise, and will accommodate our appliances while not wasting the precious space. All components David ordered arrived before the promised date and in perfect order - there was not a single wrong piece, which is far from guaranteed if my prior experience is any indication. He also communicated very closely with the contractor who was doing the installation, to ensure that everything is done right. I was looking into replacing two Merillat brand cabinet doors that had some water damage. I went directly to Merillat online and unfortunately it wasn't sold in a Home Depot or Lowe's. Instead, the website listed about 6 stores nearby that sold Merillat brands. All stores said something along the lines of "sorry we can't help you replace pieces because we only do full kitchen remodels". I was beyond frustrated thinking, "why would I replace entire kitchen cabinetry when I just need to replace 2 pieces? And why can't you order few pieces since your store is a certified seller of the product I am looking for?" I knew that these stores were in it for the huge HGTV kitchen remodel profits. I called Merillat directly and they said that ALL certified sellers from their website CAN order individual pieces. I then called Best Buy Cabinets in Belmont and spoke to Katerina. She advised I schedule an appointment to come in within same week so she can better assist me. I brought in one cabinet piece and she was able to order it through Merillat. ( side note due to COVID, delivery from Merillat was extremely slow but was out of Katerina's hands). I got my brand new cabinet doors and Katerina's shared advice on how to care for my kitchen cabinets. I can't thank Katerina enough for her superb customer service. What was interesting is on my way out of our appointment another lady walked in trying to replace one cabinet door just like I was. She drove over an hour away because she couldn't find a store to help her....also she said she got exact responses from other stores she called saying "we don't change one piece but replace whole entire kitchen cabinets". Great showroom with little appreciation for the customer or the outcome. I had to replace a vanity cabinet as a pilot project before the bigger one and I was hoping for a smooth straight forward experience based on good reviews this place has. My husband and I came twice to the showroom, chose the style and David made a design. Then he came out, measured the space and ordered a cabinet. Meanwhile we've ordered counter top, based on David's measurements. Since we had an opened permit, cabinet deadline arrival was crucial for me. So, I called to find out about the dates and both times I had a strange feeling like they're brushing me off. When the cabinet finally arrived, was assembled, attached to the wall, we saw that the electrical outlets on the walls were not taken into consideration when David was measuring the space. Moreover, when I called him to discuss possible solutions, I found out a lot of interesting things about how he felt working with me, the customer. It was very unpleasant to say the least. After unproductive back and forth over the phone he decided to come out and check the vanity. Then, he tried to convince me that the vanity I bought from him IS NOT his problem and electrical outlets should be moved (as a matter of fact we just redid that space before he measured it) however he wouldn't participate in this fix financially/physically or make a discount since it is not his problem. I found a cabinet I liked and on their website it allows you to select the cabinet and then it says " Email us a rough measurements of your kitchen to receive a ball park quote" David Melamed basically told me that this was a lie. Even though I provided the model number and the finish type of the cabinet I was looking for and provided a detailed drawing of my kitchen he stated he could not do as their website advertised. Poor service if you ask me. The price may have been perfect, but I will never know because if this is how poor the service is up front, who knows how it will be if I purchased from them. read more

This place has a sign on Industrial road advertising it products and location. They sell Merrliat cabibets. Dropped by there 8/13/2008 late afternoon to look at cabinet styles and colors. A man and two women were at their desks having a conversation unrelated to cabinetry. I was there for about 15 minutes and they pretty much saw through me like I was not even there. Two of the desks are separated by display cabinets and when I walked in between the two desks to access the cabinets I assumed the role of cabinet salesperson: "Hello there, how are the two of you today, these are fine cabinets aren't they???" Only then did they acknowledge my presence. Oh please, do not get up, I shall assume dual roles so do you need to left a finger!!!! What a waste of money on these three individuals!!! read more

I can't say enough great things about David and Katrina who were extremely helpful and experienced in helping us with cabinet orders, recommendations and honest opinions about cabinet quality vs price. Katrina designed our cabinet configuration and with no small feat, having to make measurement adjustments for a not so perfect room. The final project with sensible cabinet and appliance placement is exactly what I had envisioned. I am so happy I found Best Buy Cabinets and David for my recently completed remodel. My remodel would have been impossible without him! Go to him, you won't be disappointed. I had a big project I was tackling. 3 kitchens and 5 bathrooms all being remodeled simultaneously (all in one building). I have never done a remodel before so you can imagine how unprepared I felt for all of this. But working with David made all the difference. I arrived without a good vision for what should go in the kitchens and bathrooms. But each visit to his office helped me narrow down design I could be confident in. He listens very attentively and I always felt he was complimenting and adding to my vision. And by the end of it I had incredibly high esteem for his design skills and sensibilities. The project was large and extensive so I had to rely on David to help control costs. He had a lot of helpful thoughts about this. He explained very patiently where he thought I could cut back and where he thought splurging would be worth it. He walked me through so many different sketches and brands, and was just incredibly patient and knowledgeable through that whole process. Once we got the design down, the execution was flawless. He came by and took all the measurements and got all the details perfectly right. I don't think we needed to reorder anything. All the materials arrived on the job site on time. Quality was impeccable. My contractor was delighted. Finally, when David came by for an inspection he found a few defects with how the cabinetry was installed, and immediately reordered the necessary parts without a hassle. The guy follows through. This was my first time designing a kitchen from scratch and the information and advice I received from Katerina was extremely helpful. Who knew a kitchen cabinet layout could get so detailed, and there were many things I did not know to consider so she really kept me on track. I spent two days visiting cabinet stores on the peninsula, I knew exactly what I wanted, I just needed to find it. Best Buy Cabinets not only had exactly what I was looking for, I was also impressed with their interest in my project, some other shops just pointed "look over there". I had a couple shops do renderings and neither layout was an efficient use of space and both had me making compromises. Katerina's layout was exceptional, no compromises, better than I even dreamed of. Katerina's talent in design and space and efficiency is exceptional. Her attention to detail and all those "little things" you usually don't think about until it's over and you regret, she covered and made great suggestions. My cabinets were delivered April 15, 2020 during "Shelter in Place" with no start date in sight. One cabinet had some visible damage, but it was hard to tell if it would be visible once installed. Katerina ordered a replacement that day and told me that she would replace any other cabinet if damaged once we got started, and that wasn't until mid November. All the other cabinets were fine but I appreciated that she was willing to stand by us for the warranty because of the circumstances. Katerina also recommended a fabricator for my counters that was a pleasure to work with and also did a beautiful job. I found some higher quality 5-foot tub sliding shower doors at Best Buy Cabinets. They are 5/16" thick glass, and are just all-around better quality than most other I looked at. Katerina showed me all the shower doors on display in her showroom, demonstrated them, and showed me all their features. We're in the process of remodeling about 3/4s of our house and have had the opportunity to work with a lot of companies along the way. For our bathroom vanities, we chose Best Buy Cabinets. For my mom's bathroom, we went with Merillat Classic Deluxe cabinets because of the low price and quick lead-time (10 days). Unfortunately, the cabinets that arrived had drawers that didn't close properly, the wrong color of stain, and one drawer that was the wrong size. After sending a picture to David at Best Buy, he arranged to pick up the cabinets and had new ones delivered to us free of charge. It doubled the lead-time, but the cabinets were perfect when they arrived the second time. The cabinetry feels very solid and looks good, but it's definitely a more budget brand, with 1/2" particle board boxes. For our other bathroom, we went with Merillat Masterpiece cabinets because I wanted wall-hung cabinets. We ordered flat doors with the cinnamon colored cherry wood. The lead-time was longer for Masterpiece, but the cabinets that arrived were perfect the first time. The price was higher, but the difference in quality was very obvious. We had the 1/2" all-plywood upgrade (from 1/2" particle board) and our contractor was very impressed with the quality. The cabinets are very solid and all of the hardware feels well-made. We did not go with the 3/4" plywood upgrade. The color was very uniform, but that was what my husband preferred. After our good experience working with Katerina (who did the designing and has a good eye) and David (who is the owner and helped us with returns and some designing as well), we decided to have them price our kitchen as well. They gave us a very fair price to start with, and were even willing to beat an even better price we got later. We ended up going with someone else but only because we were working with two companies for appliances and cabinets that were working together and did a lot of research for us to make sure everything would work together. They did the difficult legwork and we thought it was worth the extra couple hundred dollars we paid them. If you are on a budget but don't want to skimp on the quality of the cabinetry you get, high quality stock cabinetry is a good choice, and Best Buy is a good place to get it. If you do your research, you can get an exceptional deal here. I would give 4.5 stars if I could, but the initial problems with my mother's order, though corrected, and the fact that they were occasionally slow in contacting us when we were waiting for updates, which meant we had to be proactive, mean I would rather round down. Still, I would definitely recommend Best Buy to a friend looking for stock or semi-custom cabinetry. I cannot speak to their custom lines. read more

They sell cheap cabinets at high prices. I made the mistake of purchasing a vanity and it was pure junk- 2K worth of junk - particle board garbage. They lacked the knowledge to properly support me post-purchase so we were stuck trying to figure out how to wall mount. It turned out to not wall mountable. We were basically ripped off. The whole time the owner acts as if everything is good and normal. You can both save money and find much, much higher quality products by looking elsewhere. read more

The sales staff including the owner give you just enough information to sell you product and when the cabinets that arrive are sub-standard, they just shake their shoulders and turn their back. Hands down my husband and I found the perfect place and worth the 7 hour drive each way. David and his staff are a rare commodity in this profession. David was kind, warm, patient, professional and extremely knowledgeable and talented in his profession. It appears that quite a few of the folks who rated this store were having a bad day before they came to the store, others aren't educated in what's involved in remodeling and dealing with a designer and profession in the field who is more interested in serving your needs and making sure you leave exceptionally satisfied with his service and product. Like any professional store you may have to wait till you can be helped, especially, if it not a quick question you have. The questions are very legit, and appropriate if you want Best Buy to direct and give you the best advice and suggestion. We are so very please that we chose Best Buy Cabinets. David, the owner, had fabulous designing ideas/layouts for our kitchen, he made the journey for my husband and I so pleasant. David treated our project with such care and patients as if he was doing the kitchen for himself. We were looking to buy a very high end product that Davis had and therefore end up spending more than we wanted, but David brought us back to earth and showed us something that looked very similar with the same quality and 10% or so less, that was so honest and ethical (earned extra points). We were so pleased that we are having him do the cabinets in our bathrooms, wine room, et cetera. Anyone who chose not to go with these folks, it's your loss and I truly believe whomever else you went with you paid more and got less. He tells me that there are going to be a lot of people here so I needed to go. WTF?! I'm the only car parked here!!!! NOBODY IS HERE!! Being a nice gal, after being barked at I moved my car. Come out an hour later and still there is NOBODY in the parking lot. Drove by again 2 hours later after shopping and surprise NOBODY is there yet again. News flash, NOBODY wants to shop at your place. I got news for you buddy, you're not the only person here selling cabinets or whatever it is your selling. There was some misalignment of drawer-fronts, but my husband was able to line them up himself. As far as doing business, be aware that they insist on being paid EVERY PENNY of their money before they will even set up delivery of your cabinets. We struggled to communicate with them. In case of Home Depot or Lowes, designer didn't come to my home. Service : I almost spent 12~15 hrs with David & Alex for best drawing. Best Buy Cabinet was the only place that designer spend so long time for one customer. One Bad Thing: After I received ordered cabinets, I could start cabinet installation 1.5 month later due to contractor work schedule. At ordered list, kitchen sink was included. I thought that it should be in one of delivered cabinet boxes. But I found during installation that kitchen sink was not delivered. I called Best Buy Cabinet again and found that kitchen sink was delivered to store separately long time ago. So customer should pick up separately from the showroom. But designer didn't mention that to me. I have to spend another 5 hrs to resolve that issue. I was quite upset with that situation. Generally my wife is quite satisfied with those cabinets. I have almost never had such "above and beyond" service in dealing with any store or contractor. Alex was so patient and helpful while we picked out our cabinets, asked the vendor and negotiated prices on specific special extra trim items and sizes we wanted, found and referred us to a great place, Sun Marble, where we got our countertop slab....then contacted 3 fabricators and got bids for us for the work. When our cabinets were shipped later than we had hoped, he and his manager rented a truck to bring the cabinets up to our house the day they arrived at his shop so we would not lose more time. Over and over during this remodel Alex and his Manager went above and beyond, making phone calls to the fabricator and pressuring him to measure and install quicker than the timeline he had given me, hand delivering hinges that had not been included with the cabinets, etc etc. Dealing with Alex and Best Buy was by far the easiest and best part of this entire bathroom remodel! I ordered a large, expensive, two tiered, floor to ceiling custom-sized Ultracraft cabinet. After waiting over 6 weeks, imagine my disappointment to find all THREE large bottom doors defective: dent in wood, paint bubbles, badly painted doors, warped, crack in wood, front and back. So under warranty, Katerina and David order three new replacement doors. After waiting over a month, the doors arrive to the shop and, guess what? Katerina and David deemed them unacceptable; doors also defective. New doors are ordered again. Waiting more than a month, a third set of doors arrive to the shop and David checked only one of the three, saying it was fine. I arranged to have my contractor install and discovered problems on ALL three doors: two hinge holes were not drilled and the two that were drilled were incorrectly spaced. Another door had a split and uneven surface at the join. Other door was warped, one door's width is narrower and does not evenly align with door above, one door shaker decor piece is narrower in width. David finally came over to have a look. He agrees the workmanship on the doors are bad. To have spent nearly $6500 and continually have workmanship problems -- on a total of 9 doors now -- is ridiculous! I want good quality replacement doors. I also feel I should be compensated for my hassle, inconvenience and additional costs for contractor to install. I have not been able to put away my belongings after my remodel -- nearly six months later! I questioned the 100 year warranty (from the supplier)! I see now, it will take 100 years to eventually receive the quality doors I paid for and expected?! While David has made an effort to make sure the doors are correct, which is appreciated, it is his supplier who he has a responsibility for is totally incapable of supplying a quality product. As such, I have incurred additional cost from the contractor for installation multiple times and should be compensated. I will never order from Best Buy Cabinets again! read more

My wife and I have Kitchen Craft cabinets installed at our home, purchased about a dozen years ago. Unfortunately, several of the cabinet door hinges failed recently -- a warranty item. I checked with the local distributor for the manufacturer, which turned out to be Best Buy Cabinets in San Carlos. The owner, David Melamed, was exceedingly helpful in 3 regards: 1) he was exceptionally willing to assist, providing liaison immediately with the manufacturer -- in Canada. 2) the parts for the hinges which the manufacturer provided were different than those originally installed (no longer in inventory) and were incomplete (only 1 of 2 components delivered). David provided liaison with the mfg to remedy the situation. Accomplished timely. 3) the new hinges needed to be installed on the cabinets ... and adjusted. He recommended a talented installer (Alberto Cosentino), who came to our home to accomplish the job ASAP and for a very affordable price. Perfect!
