We remodeled our home and used Keane Kitchens for all of our drawers - kitchen and four bathrooms - back in 2007. Nearly two decades later, the level of service we receive is exactly the same as it was on day one. That alone is extraordinary and something people should not overlook when selecting vendors for a remodel. Over time, as you'd expect, hinges loosen and drawers or cabinets fall slightly out of alignment. Every time this has happened, Keane has sent someone out for a "tune-up." We just had another visit today, and the experience was once again exceptional. The technician not only fixed the obvious issues, but proactively checked every drawer and cabinet in the house. We had an 8:00 a.m. appointment; he arrived early and waited in his vehicle until precisely 8:00. (No 4-hour arrival window with Keane.) I even assumed one pantry door was permanently warped--it is now perfectly aligned. Having worked with many contractors and vendors over the years, I continue to be blown away, and grateful, for the professionalism, craftsmanship, kindness, and consistency Keane Kitchens provides. This kind of long-term commitment is incredibly rare. Choosing Keane Kitchens was one of the best decisions we made among the hundreds involved in our remodel, and their longevity proves our experience is not an anomaly. This review is long overdue but despite the delay, hopefully it will be helpful to others considering kitchen contractors. Our mini remodel was completed in October 2023 and a year and half later, every part of the project is as good as the day it was completed. Workmanship was top rate and has stood the test of time. If there were issues, they likely would have surfaced quickly and we have had absolutely no problems since the installation. Thinking back to the time of the project, it was a pleasure working with the entire team, starting with Grace and Kamila in the initial design phase and then with all of the installers throughout the length of the project. We were very pleasantly surprised on how the project was managed, without any surprises. When a potential challenge was identified concerning the location of plumbing lines relative to our dishwasher, Mario was able to implement an efficient fix without issue or undue delay. Toward the end of the project, we met with Patrick onsite to discuss if there were any questions or concerns with the project and to ensure that we were fully satisfied with their work. We hired Keane Kitchens to do a mini remodel of our kitchen which included refacing the cabinets, new countertops and backsplash. The quality of the work completed was nearly perfect. The one minor issue was addressed within a day and rectified. Overall we are very satisfied with the work completed. Why the three stars...? Eddie, the project manager was utterly useless from the customer perspective. We had a variety of workers show up who when asked when the next workers would show up, didn't know and said we'd get a call which never came. We had days when no one works show up and then annoyingly, randomly show up. We were lucky we were home to let them in. We called Eddie TWICE to ask what the schedule looked like and when to expect people and never got a call back. I finally had to call their office to complain and ask, to get an answer. Still need got a call from Eddie with any sort of explanation. In short, if you're p I planning to be home for the duration of your project, then you shouldn't have any issues. However, if you plan on taking time off work, you may want to consider someone else or at least have your timeline explained WAY in advance. read more

I want to support local company. Had a great initial consultation but went the work started, it went down hills. Someone tried to do a bait and switch on our counter. We order A grade but when they came out to do the measurements, we had an uneasy feeling when they asked us to sign a contract waiving default on the counter. We decide to drive to the East Bay to look at it before signing. We saw the counter with many flaws on it and it was definitely B grade. My husband had a talk with MJ and was not pleased. He had to ask Patrick to call him back. Now we got pricing for B grade counter. This morning I woke up with someone in my house, that my son let in. I was still in my PJ in bed! I yelled down at my son, he said the worker are here!!! My son left for school and I rush down in my robe to see what's going on. This is so unprofessional, not to schedule with a client and have the worker show up unexpectedly!!! What if something happens? Will someone be responsible??? Two incidents within a week!!! My sister and I decided early this year we wanted to renovate our kitchen and we started looking at contractors for the job. We have never done a renovation before and were completely unprepared for what we would find. Our kitchen is a galley kitchen only 180 square feet. We were shocked when the two companies we asked for estimates came in between $140,000 and $160,000. We did not want to spend that much and got very discouraged. My sister then came across Keane Kitchens. They do mini remodels. We didn't want to change the footprint of the kitchen we just wanted to redo the cabinets, add new cabinets and change the countertops and backsplash. We met with Grace at Keane and went to their showroom and she showed us what was possible with simply refacing the existing cabinets instead of building new custom cabinets. We talked in detail about what we wanted from the style of doors, handles and even a choice in colors for the cabinets. We got a quote from her which thankfully came in at a cost more in line with our budget so we signed with them to do our kitchen. Their price was more than 40% cheaper than the other quotes. They came to our house to take measurements and discuss in more detail what we wanted done. We managed the project ourselves to save money so we had to coordinate multiple jobs like changing windows, putting in a new gas line and upgrading electrical as well as scheduling the kitchen renovation in between the other jobs. Keane worked with us to come in early to do part of the demo in order for the gas line to be installed. Then they worked with us to schedule Their start date to fit the schedule of everything else we were doing. When they started work we were introduced to Eddie, the project manager at the time and to Santiago and Alex. There were several people that worked on our kitchen throughout the 5 1/2 weeks it took to finish and they were all really great but the star was Santiago. Santiago was at my door every morning without fail around 8:00am. He went to work immediately and worked so hard and he was very particular about his work. He really knew his job and was great at it. I checked on the progress maybe a little more than I should have but he always stopped to let me know how things were going and answered my pesky questions. After a while I felt less of a need to checkup on things and just came to trust him. Santiago always came to me if he needed input on what I would like and he really listened to me. His goal was to do the best job and for me and my sister to be happy with the work. He was also a great problem solver. There was an issue with getting the pantry into the house and up the stairs because it was too big to make it up the stairs. They talked about taking the pantry back to the shop to dismantle it and return with pieces that would be able make it up the stairs. Santiago would not let that happen. He found that removing a few banisters from the railing would give them the space they needed to get it upstairs and it worked. It wasn't easy at all but they persisted until it was done. I could go on forever about Santiago but suffice it to say he was the glue that made our renovation a success. Of course there were more wonderful people that made a difference in our renovation. Kamila was the scheduler who kept the job moving, addressed any problems and sent the right people out to do the various jobs. She did a great job in coordinating the project and putting up with my calls and questions and always with a pleasant attitude and willingness to make us happy. I also want to mention the other workers I got to know well and want to acknowledge their hard work as well. They are Alex (2 of them), Mario, Oscar, Abel and Brian (who drove the truck to pickup garbage and deliver supplies). They were all very respectful and nice to work with. The entire staff at Keane Kitchens's was absolutely great and we are grateful to them all for an outstanding job. In the end we are extremely happy with our new kitchen. It came out better than either of us imagined. It is a stunning renovation that we are very proud of. Thanks to Keane Kitchens for Making our dream come true. Absolutely outstanding experience with Keane in the best of ways: from the initial quote to them following-up post-project, every step of the way was professional, dependable, high-quality and helpful. Ours was probably a modest project: cabinet door refacing, new cabinet shelves, leveling a dual-height countertop, new countertops + backsplash, reconfiguring cabinet boxes to accommodate a freestanding instead of slide-in range, expanded sink with new faucet, moving around some electrical outlets, customized built-in garbage bins, heavy-duty drawers for our cast iron pans, LED under-cabinet lighting, and installing a beverage-fridge -all in a very small kitchen area. Each member of the team was timely, respectful, knowledgeable, friendly, and tidy. Keane's quote seemed reasonable and was honored even though we ended up delaying our project a bit when our other contractor ran much longer than expected. They know what they are doing plus very punctual and clean. My project was completed in 4 weeks including a week break in the middle to paint and install floors. We reached out to them, and they came to evaluate things a few days later and agreed things needed to be fixed. We recently had our kitchen remodeled by Keane Kitchens. Half of our cabinets were refaced (Keane's "signature" area of expertise) and half of our cabinets were replaced by new cabinets. The project also included new countertops, backsplash, appliances, sink and faucets. They were a great crew from start to finish! Everyone was respectful of our home (some contractors treat your home like a 'project'...ahem), the work area was tidied up every night when they finished for the day and it was obvious that they had in-depth knowledge of modernizing old bay-area houses. Overall, a very positive and....dare I say....pleasant....experience. Details....on the plus side..... They worked with our budget and also with our rather (particular) design tastes without hesitation. There were several iterations of the quote/plan before we started but the details, followthrough and number-crunching were done promptly and accurately. Their project style is both structured and flexible. Structured, in that the workmen arrived like clockwork every day and there were hardly any gaps from the day they started until the day they finished. Flexible, in that they have a nice showroom full of materials and products you can select from but they also welcome the materials and/or products you select and/or purchase elsewhere. Zero hassles. Patrick and Grace (project coordinator) were involved from start to finish. They were not on the project site every day but the workmen that were here were on the phone with them every single day. Seamless and timely communication! That said, when we had questions or concerns we also got prompt replies by email, text or phone. The crew had all of the equipment needed to get the job done and they set it up away from the main thoroughfare to the house to minimize disruption to our family. There was very little inconvenience to us because of their workspace. None of the usual surprises that old houses present during a project (uneven walls, ceilings, electrical, etc.) phased them as they worked. You could tell that they'd pretty much seen 'it' all and knew how to replace, modernize and/or repair anything that got in our way of a new kitchen. ;-) And as for the downside.... Yes, there were small glitches like any other major project but nothing that we hadn't experienced before and that wasn't corrected in a timely manner. The only exception was the work of a subcontractor i.e., the stone fabricator Keane used botched the fabrication and installation of the stone for the countertops. When we realized what had happened we contacted Patrick -on the weekend- and he responded to us within minutes. He was completely calm about it, he stood by us as a first priority, and he focused on getting the job done correctly for us. Another fabricator was engaged to redo the installation and our countertops are incredible! Looking back on our experience, like most homeowners we usually ended a project with mixed feelings about the particular contractor that we used. Afterall, remodeling is messy, it's disruptive, it's invasive, it's expensive and it always ends up taking way longer than you expected. It seemed that this team was trying to get this project done as quickly as possible. In doing this, major mistakes were made and the overall workmanship was not very good. To sum up the issues: A major blunder was made in fabricating the backsplash when they drilled a hole for a socket in the wrong place though I warned them a number of times. The work they did on the oven hood was messy, leaving burn marks on the hood and scratches on the ceiling. The new countertop looks nice though nobody seemed to know anything about the quartzite I chose nor how to care for it (Keane Kitchens bought the stone for me from IRG). It turns out that the stone should have been sealed prior to the faucet, etc being installed. The project was to change the countertop and backsplash as well as make a few other changes which the project manager readily agreed to doing. On the day work was to begin, a binder was set on the kitchen table which was to contain, or so I thought, all the plans and notes for the project. On the last day of the project, this binder was still empty. Nothing was ever written down. The workers seemed to only have a vague idea of what the plan was. They almost threw out my faucet, assuming I was not reusing it (I was). I wanted a socket moved and I showed the manager where I wanted it placed. On day 2, his worker had this vague idea of where it was to go and penciled it in (this was a plug in the backsplash). The guys who do the template for the countertop showed up late on day 2 when I was not there. They took measurements assuming a number of things like where I wanted seams, plug positions, etc. On day 3, I saw that the worker's guess on where the plug was to be positioned was incorrect and I corrected him. I kind of figured that the fabricators would never get word that the plug position had changed so I even went down to their place and told them about the change (and informed the manager as well). I was told it was no problem. And where did they drilled the hole? IN THE WRONG SPOT! As I pointed out these issues, all I got in return were excuses and apologies. "The metal of the hood was tough to cut. The fabricator should have known better." But very few remedies were offered. Keane Kitchens did agree to get the countertop and backsplash sealed with the faucet removed. The guy who showed up, from another company, sealed about half the counter and then left. Keane Kitchens said that was an oversight and he would be back to finish the job. That was at least 2 months ago. I have heard nothing since. I've tried to work with Keane Kitchens on some of these issues. The last contact was when Grace came by to see the finished product. When she heard the whole story of the project she agreed to a slight discount in price. And that was the last I heard from her. Everyone at Keane Kitchens had bee very pleasant to work with and I had really hoped it was going to go smoothly. But it didn't. Too many assumptions and too little oversight. read more

We just recently hired Keane Kitchens to install new granite countertops for us. I wasn't expecting it, but they were able to undercut all the competitors' quotes - my initial impressions led me to believe that they were gonna be way too expensive. I got the impression that they usually focus on more all-inclusive kitchen remodels, and that we were just a small job for them - they have a helluva lot of cabinet displays in their showroom They also have flooring and fixtures and more. The actual work was done by Plamar USA. (Part of me wonders that I might have a better deal going directly through Plamar. but I don't regret the route I took. I'll review Plamar soon...) Ross from Keane Kitchens was very easy to work with. When we had some issues with the installers, they said they take it very seriously. My situation is pretty unusual, but...* We moved into our house six years ago and were told the kitchen cabinets had ben refaced by Keane Kitchens. They looked pretty, but within a year there was a film on a few of the cabinet and draw edges. I tried to scrub the film off one drawer, but it took the finish off, so I figured I'd have to live with the sticky film. And I decided that Keane Kitchens didn't seem like quality stuff: If I ever redid my kitchen I wouldn't use Keane. So I recycled the receipt the old owner had left for us. But then the economy went south, a kitchen redo was out of the question, and at the same time ALL the doors and drawers started being sticky. By late 2011, 5 years after the refacing, they were so sticky that I just popped in at Keane to ask if there was anything they knew about how to stop this. I was surprised and gratified to hear that they offered a 10 year warranty on the finish and they would send a guy out to look at the doors: Although I didn't have the receipt, I assumed if they were offering a 10 year guarantee, they had our house's information on file, since they were willing to send a guy out. And when the guy came out he took a look at the doors and said, "The polyurethane is reacting to the oils in your hands. We've changed the finish we use since your kitchen was done. Let me get back to you." But weeks passed and no one got back to me. So I went back in and talked to someone who again took my name and number and told me the owner would get back to me. I did this another time, with a few weeks in between each time, waiting for someone who never called. By summer of 2012 with three "get back to you's" and one home visit no one ever followed up. I haven't pushed further because (a) I've gotten the message that they don't want to help me (b) It's a lot of work to get someone to do what they don't want to do (c) I am not sure I want the help of people who don't want to help me. * It just doesn't feel right seeing Keane market themselves as a quality contractor without sharing my vastly different experience of them, so that others will not wind up with a bad experience too. read more

We had refacing and a bank of new cabinets installed by Keane. Based on recommendations from the Belmont/San Carlos moms group, I had such high hopes for them but the failed to impress me even the slightest bit. Here's the rundown of our experience with them: 1) The first day no one showed up. No one bothered to let us know they weren't coming. 2) On the day the work was supposed to be done, they left the project unfinished with no communication as to when they might be back to finish the job. We were supposed to be getting our countertops installed the following monday so I had to call the owner of Keane on his cell phone on a saturday night to find out what was going on. (Thankfully, he came out early monday morning and called other contractors off the other jobs to finish the countertops) 3) They didn't build the new cabinets according to the drawing & measurements that we agreed to so we had to reorder all the doors & drawer fronts which took an additional 3 weeks. Fortunately, the countertops were able to fit on the larger base cabinets so it turned out okay but could have been a disaster. 4) 3 days after the project completed, we started noticing cracks all along the countertops and backsplash. We called our contractor (not keane) out to find out what was going on. Turns out Keane didn't bolt the base cabinets into the wall so the weight of the granite was causing movement on the cabinets. Only way to fix that is to rip everything out so...we've got to live with that now. After all that, we have a nice new kitchen (which is why they get 3 stars). But I would not recommend using them. There's so many other companies that do this type of work that someone has to be better than this. Pros: The cabinets looked very nice in the end, gave good design suggestions Cons: delays; had to stay on top of things myself and point out obvious issues and lacks attention to details. We had our kitchen refaced; added recessed lighting and new appliances installed. I would say that it was basically a (B-) experience. First, the job got delayed due to an injury. Later, I asked how the guy was and no one knew what I was talking about. MMMMMM Secondly, the job was suppose to take two weeks and almost took three. It was a one man crew. However, he was nice and respectful. Third, there was a huge disconnect when it came the details of the job and who was responsible for what, such as handles and onsite problems. The one guy that was working on the kitchen didn't really know the order of events so I would talk to the project manager, Luis Moreno, who was very nice but only handled problems with the onsite job and not details like the handles etc.. That seemed to be Christopher Larose's job, the sales rep. So are you confused yet? Me too! End the end I felt like I was co-site manager. I had to send the specs for the handles several times, I caught several mistakes on the job such as slanted handles, unstained areas and also had to go to Lowes myself for a cap that was not capped off after they took my dishwasher out. It was literally pouring water under my sink when I turned the water on. However, I did not catch it for two days. Lastly, I loved how my cabinets look but the ceiling was discolored where our old lights where taken out and they just textured it but it needed to be painted also. I have high expectations and that's why I gave the job three stars. Furthermore, my husband referred a friend from work to Keane Kitchen against what I would have done. The friend at work is high in the company and Keane Kitchen never showed up for the first appointment due to a computer crash (loss of appointments). I was so embarrassed! The friend was really upset but did agree to let them come out again. I just pray they do a good job for my husband's reputation. read more

A representative from Keane came out to supposedly give an estimate, but that never happened. Instead, she showed us samples of different cabinet faces and color swatches. That's all well and good, but we wanted specifics on pricing. She seemed too new on the job, and new to the area, to know what to say so she erred on the side of saying less. I respected that; I'd rather get less information than the wrong information, but why wouldn't they send someone more knowledgeable? One thing that really bothered us was that the rep was not a homeowner. Renters and homeowners speak different languages -- they just do. People who call to have their kitchens renovated are homeowners. The rep should be, too -- or at least try to be empathetic to what an expenditure a new kitchen can be. The rep answered so many questions with "I don't know, I just rent" that it got frustrating. She didn't seem to take the job seriously. She also commented on my brown eyes. My eyes are green. (Can't stand people who assume that dark-haired people always have brown eyes!) If she couldn't even tell what color my eyes were, how could I trust her to advise me on what color cabinet or countertop to select? Bad impression. Measurements were taken of our existing cabinets and countertops, and characteristics of each type of cabinet and counter material were discussed. Fine -- what's the bottom line? She dropped it on us eventually: I can't tell you that; you have to physically come to the showroom and talk to the designers to get an estimate. The in-home estimate didn't include the estimate. WTF?!! We wasted over an hour for nothing! I demanded a general ball-park, and after much hemming and hawing, as specific as she was willing to get was that granite would be many thousand dollars and that laminate would be several thousand dollars. Huh?! That really cleared things up...OUT! We never called them to set up the "rest" of the estimate -- what a joke -- and they never called us to follow up our interest. It was like they didn't exist. From reading the other negative Yelp reviews, I'm very glad we decided against pursuing Keane for our kitchen. Instead, we touched up the white paint on the cabinets, bought shiny new hardware, and a new faucet. That was under $150! We passed a refinance appraisal with flying colors without having to spend thousands. read more
