I took my iPhone to Best Buy's Geek Squad for replacement of the battery. It took 5 days, due to they have poor inventory control and were unaware they had no battery in stock. Three days in, I went up there and demanded my phone (to take somewhere competent) and they suddenly realized the battery had come in. After promising to have it for me at 10 AM the next day, they called and said they discovered it needed another part and would take 3-5 days to get it. The part was a back glass that they had broken. They offered a loaner phone, but that requires taking the phone to my carrier to activate and then again to deactivate - not at all convenient. Two hour job = five days. I had gone there as they are an Apple authorized service provider, but they are nowhere near the quality or service of Apple. read more

My husband went off to Best Buy this morning with an android phone that had been misbehaving for a few weeks. Neither he nor I are the most tech-savvy of people, and he was prepared to buy a new phone. Fortunately he fell into the hands of a young staff member who - instead of just selling him a phone - took the time to diagnose the problem, correct it, and then send him on his way with a working phone and a new screen protector. This is why we do our tech shopping at the Normal Best Buy. I don't know who is in charge of training and managing your floor crew, but they do one helluva job. After a MANAGER made eye contact with me, but refused to help, as she stood around and gossiped with fellow employees, I politely asked if I could get some help. Don't waste your money. They are useless. I've been in multiple times with different devices and they have not been able to help me with any of them. I tried to get them to come out to my house and the first time I requested this while I was in the Bloomington/Normal store I got someone from the Chicago area call me and said he wasn't sure why they routed me to him but he could only give me advice over the phone. The second time I tried to schedule this, a man from Missouri called to set up an appointment. I have yet to get someone to my house. They have been a complete waste of my time and money. read more

Best Buy is my favorite electronics store. They are tops on customer service and price matching. My husband and I just bought our iPhone 8 Plus cell phones at Best Buy and it was a great experience as always. The employees are experienced and knowledgeable about getting the phones setup and finding you discounts. We were able to buy one and get on free on a special deal. Accessories were 25% off of three and with my husbands case, my case, and glass shield, we had three. The employee put these on for us at our request too. Love it! We felt great about the whole process and left the store very happy and understanding all the charges we would be receiving on our Verizon bill. read more

Key points: - I have been grossly neglected as a customer. - I've received awful customer service from geek support on the phone and in store. - I've been hung up on about 6 times - My protection plan did not protect my device so I was lied to and misled as a consumer - I do not recommend doing business with this enterprise. - Representatives are either poorly trained or they simply do not have interest in servicing customers. June of 2020 i purchased an all in one touch screen PC for my at home office. August of 2020 the PC's screen was cracked in a move. Thank God I purchased a 3 year geek squad protection plan right? No. Geek squad's customer service takes terrible to the next level. I took my broken unit to Best Buy for a repair January 2021 ( due to work and dealing with the pandemic I was unable to attend to this matter immediately.) Upon dropping off my device I was told a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks. After waiting 6 weeks I checked the online portal to trance my repair, i was advised to call in to speak with geek support. EVERY TIME I CALLED GEEK SUPPORT I WAS PLACED ON HOLD FOR AT LEEAST 30 MINUTES, SOMETIMES 45 AND EVEN ONE TIME AN HOUR. After finally speaking to a representative, I was advised that my device was not repairable and I had to go the my local store to get an exchange. I asked if a new unit could be shipped to me due to my busy work schedule, I was told no because there was a document that I had to sign. Fast forward a week later, i arrived at my local Best Buy and was told that I was getting a refund not an exchange and the funds would be loaded on a gift card. I was surprised as i was advised something else over the phone but I was not a huge deal, I'd just pick out a new or similar item. The representative loaded $779.99 onto my giftcard. I paid about $1,050.00 for the device, sales tax and warranty ( protection plan) so how is this an even exchange? it most certainly is not. Due to a lack of time and patience I decided to leave the store and handle matters with geek support as geek support were the ones who advised I'd be getting a replacement computer. Fast forward another week later I had been on the phone with countless reps, on hold for countless hours and transferred countless times until I was told by a geek squad rep that she'd sen me a voucher so I would not have to pay for another warranty or sales tax. Before this rep explained the next steps and how I could redeem the amount towards my next purchase the phone disconnected again! No call back, no follow up. I proceeded to call back two more times without being assisted ( i had to explain this entire story probably 20 times and each time i was transferred again and placed on hold.) I decided to switch to online assistance and was transferred via chat, I'm not kidding ( how am I transferred via chat) and after everything was offered a 10% discount.) read more

Been to this store several times bought a printer ,etc. My experience is not the store, but the service giving by the Geek squad. twice I've had service done and the same guy has helped me !! he deserves 5 stars. Worst consumer experience of my life (and I'm not exaggerating when I say that)... I drove from Peoria IL to the Bloomington IL store as the website listed they had an item on display that I have been trying to get for my husband for months... I made the foolish assumption since it was "on display" that it might also be available for purchase. Turns out the item was neither on display AND was definitely not available for purchase! Total waste and disrespect of my time - especially since I traveled with my 2 month old daughter to the store (about a 1 hour drive). The supervisor on duty Julie I found to be very rude and condescending - I didn't think I was being unreasonable when I spoke with her that I was upset that the information I relied on from the website needed to be updated... especially since its the holiday season and most individuals rely on that information to make decisions on where to shop. She 'apologized' for the inaccurate information - but never for the inconvenience or waste of my time... I pointed out that every store online within a 60 mile radius of Peoria IL lists the item as "not on display" - their store is the only exception. She more or less told me that the particular gaming system my husband wanted has been out of stock for months and I should have realized that was an error... Julie's solution was for me to call 1-800-Best-Buy to file a complaint as they have no control over their website and she had no idea why the information on their website was incorrect. I called first and spoke with someone named 'Arjay' who seemed to be an outsourced customer service operator in India - who told me to call the store and ask to speak directly with the manager "Jerry Jones". I pointed out to Arjay that didn't seem to be a real name. I went back into the store and apparently no one in the store has that name...I was told the general manager's name is Dan who wasn't expected to be back till later that afternoon. Julie saw me speaking with one of the customer service desk reps she came over and informed me "I have already made Dan aware of the situation... ". She was once again very rude and unsympathetic when she spoke with me. She told me she had no idea why the 1-800 # had told me to come back into the store and ask for the general manager as "There is nothing he can do" as he has no control over the website. She also stated that just because an item is on display it does not mean it's available for purchase - I really didn't understand her argument as I didn't think it was an uneducated assumption to think that since it's on display it might also be available for purchase. Keep in mind in my situation the item was NOT ON DISPLAY as their website stated and was definitely not available for purchase as it's considered a 'special event item'. I asked her when the item would be available for purchase she stated maybe Saturday or Sunday but she was not sure- (keep in mind this is a manager on duty who has no idea regarding stock of a product and didn't bother looking it up either). Julie would not give me the extension number for the GM (which when you call the store is asked for during the call) - but told me to call later that day and he *might* be able to speak with me. (I didn't understand why should couldn't give Dan my number to call me back or his extension number). I left the store and called the 1-800 Best Buy number again and spoke with one of their customer advocates - I pointed out my sole purpose at this point was to try to inform them of the error on their website as it seemed that Bloomington IL store was incapable of correcting it. But a telephone representative has no control over the website either... However this representative Kelly tried to be as helpful as she could she tried to look up the SKU to see when the item would be available - she did notice shipments going out that day so she said that the item could possibly be available on Saturday since it was a special event item- she even offered me a $20 gift card which is more than anyone in the store offered... She also apologized for the hassle (my daughter was crying though at this point - so I think she understood my frustration with the whole ordeal better). She also made a note that the information on the website regarding the Bloomington store was incorrect and said she would send the message to corporate... Kelly gave me Dan's last name (DAN WALLER) and suggested that I call back and ask to speak with him... she stated that in my situation since the error was with Best Buy - she thinks he would be able to give me a courtsey call when the item is expected to be in stock. I never called Bloomington IL back as I was really put off by the whole customer experience there. Kelly was super helpful and very friendly - I really do believe she did everything she could... and it's sad that the Kelly's of the world get paid a lot less and can do a better job than a manager on duty! read more

I made an appointment with the store's geek squad in the hopes of getting my beats headphones repaired. The man was really rude. At first, I thought maybe I was judging him too soon or perhaps he was having a bad day, but he was entirely uninterested in looking at my headphones. They weren't busy. There wasn't a line. Like I said, I had an appointment, but he didn't want to look at my beats for more than two seconds. He just swatted his hand and told me to buy new ones. Obviously, I didn't want to, nor did I have the money to buy new ones-- that's why I was there hoping to get mine repaired. He seemed to come to life suddenly and asked me for a phone number to see if I had insurance on the headphones but when I started talking, he looked at me angrily. Another customer had come up and he was happily helping him but he stared daggers into me like I was ruining his life by requesting his paid service. He didn't care at all. He was very unhelpful, rude, and dismissive. I left quite flustered, and I honestly don't want to go back to this particular Best Buy becuase I don't want to run into this guy again. Went in to the store to purchase an item that was listed online. When I arrived I found the item on display with no box or tag. I checked the item to ensure it was functioning properly, I was approached by a manager (MICAH) who asked if he could help me, his tone didn't seem to be very friendly. I asked him the price of the item and he told me that it wasn't for sale. I asked for a manager and he told me I was looking at one. I asked for another he told me that they would say the same thing. When the manager came micah said he didn't want to open a box to replace the display. Then I was told it's a deleted sku by the other manager. When I asked the sku so I could check it against the website they told me that they didn't know it. When they decided to actually do their job and assist me the potential customer they found that they were wrong about every they told me and nearly an hour later(thanks to MICAH) found a new boxed one two isles over. I decided that this experience was enough to make me take my business elsewhere. Rosie was the only associate of the store interested in giving a customer an acceptable experience. Reading the Yelp reviews made me VERY apprehensive about visiting this Best Buy so when I started looking for a new computer, I did not even head to this location. However, while browsing the open box deals, I found the exact computer I was looking for and for about $250 off. I was wary but called to see if they would hold it for me until I got off of work. I did wait when I called but I was number 2 in line and it was for no more than a couple minutes. The man who answered the phone was polite and helpful. He checked the sku and when the computer was available, immediately had someone go grab it for me. He then gave me the name of someone to ask for specifically when I came in who would be expecting me. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately and they called Ryan to come help me. He showed me the computer, explained what the condition description meant and answered the questions I had about the protection plan and explained it in detail. He didn't not seemed bothered when I asked and immediately helped me find a case I liked that fit my computer. Overall, it was a great experience! read more

8/4/2018 Stopped in to buy a laptop for our son heading to ISU, the clerk was great and steered up away from the economical but useless version and picked a mid-level computer that should last him for his 4 years of school!! Thank you thank you thank you to the Geek Squad on duty today. I'm a student at Illinois State and had a minor issue with Microsoft on my laptop. I called ISU's tech support twice (the first person I spoke with for 45 minutes didn't have an answer and the second person transferred me to their supervisor who again didn't have an answer). I walked into Best Buy feeling hopeless and they luckily had a guy who was able to help at me right away. This man was more than helpful. Thankfully he didn't laugh at me or judge me for crying when I felt so frustrated. He patiently helped me with my issue and I was out the door with a working computer in less than 15 minutes. We were attempting to purchase an iPad Pro - a product that is obviously at a premium this time of year. We shopped on line until we were able to find an in stock item available for pick up as we had to catch an international flight at 7:30 on Sat evening. This store website listed 3 in stock. We made our purchase and paid. The website informed us that our product would be available for pick up in 1 hr. With Holiday delays considered, the web page did advise waiting for an email prior to coming to the store for pick up. Wait we did...and wait...and wait. It got to the point that we were not going to make our flight if we waited much longer ( we were at 4 hrs and counting). I called the store and after a "brief" 40 minute hold I was able to speak to an associate. She looked up my order and informed me that it was not in stock - thus the reason I had not received an email stating that it was ready for pick up. I asked why I would not have been informed once they learned that they had no way to meet the purchase commitment they had made to me. She stated that they were "probably" going to try to get it from a different store this week and email me at that time. Obviously, this would not work for us. The lack of consideration in not informing me that the product was not available took valuable time away from us that could have been used shopping other stores in our area. I have stuck with Best Buy over the years making all of our electronic/television and computer purchases through them for our business and home. My Best Buy shopping days are over. Although Best Buy has always been a great company where you can get almost anything you need electronics wise, the way they work and handle customer service has gone so far down the drain over the past years. Recently, I had an issue where I had to return an item and then repurchase it in order for it to go through. I didn't realize how shady they would actually be when I went through with this transaction. When I returned the item and repurchased it, I essentially paid twice for it. They then explained to me that I would get a refund for the second purchase of the same item. They owe me over $800 and are now saying they have already refunded me. It has been over a month and I have been in contact with corporate as well as my bank to dispute this. According to my bank after they got in contact with Best Buy, they are refusing to send me back my money. When I got in contact with Best Buy they said they had already refunded me my money. I'm continuing on with the dispute and I have paperwork that shows that Best Buy didn't actually take note of the fact that I paid for the product twice which has now made it almost impossible for me to get my $800 back. I cannot urge you enough to stay away from this company if you want to be treated right and not get scammed out of your money. I would give zero stars if I but this app won't let me do less than one. I will for sure never be going back to this company and nobody else should either. read more

Last night I bought a laptop at this store. Today I had an issue with the Enter key not working on the numeric keypad. The numbers work fine, just not the Enter key. I tried calling the store several times and tried different departments, even tried entering in a random extension number. NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. The computer greeting kept telling me the store opened at 10am and the first time I tried calling was 10:15am. Every time I called and tried to reach sales, geek squad, etc. it would make noises like I was being transferred then go silent. I stayed on the line for several more minutes (in silence) but no one ever answered. Hang up and try again. I went to the Best Buy website and tried their 800 number. The computer asked what my issue was and I said that I was trying to reach someone at one of their locations but no one was answering. The computer kept saying "I'm sorry but I need a better description of what your issue is before you can speak to someone." So I said my enter key is not working on my keypad "I'm sorry but I need a better description..." "Customer service" "Enter key not working" "Support" I was finally directed to someone in customer service. I explained that my Enter key is not working on the numeric keypad and he then transferred me to technical support. They said there was a hold time of about 10 minutes but I could try to chat with someone on the website. So while I was still on hold on my phone, I went back to the website and got someone on the chat faster than on the phone (so I hung up the phone). The person I was chatting with immediately said Hello and they would remotely scan my computer and diagnose any issues and give me a quote to fix any problems. SLOW DOWN THERE BUCKAROO! I sent a message back saying I shouldn't have any issues since I bought this laptop last night. I do however have a problem with the enter key not working. If this is something that requires a remote diagnosis and me paying for it to be fixed then I'll just return it. He asked for the name/number on the account. Then asked me for a plan number, which should be on the receipt. I had my receipt but even said I wasn't sure what he was talking about. I assumed this entire time that this was an easy fix but seems more of a hassle with all these questions. He couldn't help me with out the number. I'm assuming it was a protection plan # which I did not buy. I tried tricking an answer out of him "I go to settings and keyboard but see nothing for numeric keypad, what would it be under?" "I tried search, Google, num lock, restarting...do I have any other options?" By this time I was more than a little irritated. I tried looking around my computer again to hopefully fix this problem myself. I don't know how I did it but my enter key is now working. This was extremely frustrating because I assumed this was an easy fix, and it was, I think, not sure what I did but it works now. The fact that I cannot reach anyone is unnerving. The person I did reach on the website was trying to sell me on a free diagnostic and quote for any issues. All I wanted was someone to answer the phone. I was tempted to take it back to the store but I would've returned everything I purchased. That seemed a little severe for a simple key temporarily not working and no one answering the phone. Good customer service goes a long way and this experience changed my mindset about Best Buy. read more

My family bought a $1,000+ TV here with a one-year warranty that busted within one month of purchase. They refused to carry over the warranty to the new TV replacement, even though the terms should have been equivalent for the same product replaced at their own fault. This Best Buy has the WORST services in the B/N area. I have two very bad experiences with them. 1. , The store manager lies to the customer! I was trying to buy inks from them and I saw Target.com has better price, so, I asked for price match. The cashier first told me that they can't price match Target.com because the register won't allow it. So, I asked the manager to verify, and she says they can price match Target.com but they have to do it in the backroom. So, I wait for the manager to check the website, then the manager come out and says: "the price is online only, Target don't carry it in store! Therefore, we can't price match." (What a shocking news that Target doesn't sell printer ink!!!) With disbelieve, I used my phone to check Target's website, nowhere I see the price is online only; and when I drive to the Target store, I found the ink that I was looking for. 2. Product won't deliver on the promised date. I purchased a set of washer/dryer on November for my new house, and I scheduled to deliver on Jan 7. On Jan 3, I got a call from BB saying the product is back-ordered, so I have to wait until Jan 27! The rep won't apologize for the back-ordered and keep saying it's manufacturer's fault, BB has nothing to do with it. And when I ask if they will give any compensation for the inconvenience they cause, they refused and keep saying it's not their fault. My point is, they have 2 months to order the washer/dryer, and why do they wait until last minute to tell me that it's not deliverable. And I have to suffer 3 weeks without washer/dryer, because of their mistake. This is simply not acceptable. Overall, I am very unhappy about Best Buy's service and I won't come to this store again! read more

I walked in and asked where the cordless phones were and a girl walked down an isle then pointed and immediately walked away without saying a word. I was trying to find a certain one on the shelf and was digging around and looking at different models of phones. The worker adding prices on the shelf directly behind me never asked if i needed help or even acknowledged me. Finally i asked for help and he said let me find someone. When the other guy came over he went to the wrong person and when he checked the guy out at the register he never returned and the guy behind me never turned back around to volunteer his help. I ordered a razor there for my husband. I was told it would be in today. I have not received an email telling me to pick it up, my account has not been charged for it, and NOBODY will answer the phone when I call. Expert service and ubeatable price my ass. Experts at not answering their damned phones is more like it. Update : went to find out what was going on with my order. Found out that it had been cancelled for NO DAMNED REASON. I did not get a notification of this cancellation. I didn't get an email (I even checked my junk mail), I got no text, I got nothing at all from them. I had to waste gas to drive all the way over there since nobody could be bothered to answer the damned phone just to find out some idiot had cancelled my order. What I think happened is that they had to price match the razor to one I found online for $50 cheaper and in order t not have to honor that they cancelled my order. Well, guess what, assholes, you just lost the entire sale AND my business. I am cutting my best but membership card in half and I am done with your company. I will just get my electronic needs from Newegg or Amazon. This is the reason Best But is losing so much money. Bought my son speakers for his car for a Christmas present. Just called Geek Squad to make an appointment to have them installed. Was informed they're booked up through the end of Feb. and aren't taking any additional appointments. They said to call back some other time and maybe they'd be taking new appointments. This is why a lot of people are shopping online and not at Best Buy. They just do not care about their customers. I returned a wii game that I received for a Christmas present. Yes I had my receipt. The guy was like oh sorry you are about a week too late. We only cover games for 30 days...but sir I didn't even upwrap the game? Can't I just pick out a different one or you can give me my money back since it was a cash purchase. Nope! Geez okay well I am not just marching out of here with the same game I came in here with!!! Do not come here for a midnight release. They are extremely slow and don't understand how to run them efficiently. They said they would open at 11 so everything could get taken care of and that did not happen. read more

This store is awful. No stock, poor customer service. Not the first time this was a disappointing experience at this location.

Bought a Samsung TV at the Bloomington store yesterday. I specifically asked the sales rep if the tv would download the Acorn Tv app. Was assured that it would. But, of course, after getting tv home and trying several times to download it, I called Samsung. They were extremely helpful and worked with me to resolve problem. Was finally told that Samsung did not support this app and that I will have to continue to use my Roku device in order to receive Acorn. I was told by the sales rep that I would no longer need Roku as I could access through the Smart Hub. After repeatedly trying to call the Bloomington store, I was told the store was closed (although I knew it was open), I would need to make an appointment with tech support, etc., etc. Never did get to talk to a REAL person. Will think long and hard about ever buying from Best Buy again. First of all, sales rep didn't know what he was talking about, and secondly, there was no way to access a real person to talk to.
