There are good Best Buys and not-good Best Buys. Most are not-good. This is one of the majority. Best Buy has this slogan "We make technology work for you." Apparently, the agency that came up with that slogan has never set foot in a Best Buy. First of all, remember when audio products were in a listening room and you could listen to them? Not anymore. You can listen to 3 pair of speakers and that's it. Other than that, you're buying based on how that component looks on the shelf. The ability to actually listen to a product used to be an advantage Best Buy had over, say, amazon.com. Nope. Not anymore. TVs. They're all lined up on the wall, 20 feet high, with everything cranked as bright and saturated as they can get them. Folks, that's not how to evaluate a TV. I once took a DVD of material I produced into Best Buy so I could view it on a few different model televisions so I could decide which one I wanted to purchase. I mean, I shot it, I edited it, I know how it is supposed to look - now I want to find a TV that can make it look that way. No, sorry, we can't take one of those DVD players off the open box table and let you hook it up to our floor model TVs to test them. We're not allowed. And no, we can't take the time to find a remote that will allow you to adjust the settings - we just got them cranked all the way up. Best Buy does not get how to make a customer happy. Unless you've done your research, do not go in the store. Nobody there knows dick about any of the products. They will steer you wrong. Oh, and I decided to purchase the worst of the TVs and return it. Three times. I opened three TVs and took them back, on purpose because they were dicks and wouldn't let me decide with the floor models. I dropped my laptop off on Friday and was told to pick it up at 12:20 pm on Sunday (today). When I went to pick it up, I was informed that it was not ready, and the person working on it was out to lunch. When I asked if the hard drive was the only problem, the geek squad representative told me they haven't checked yet. Since the computer doesn't work without a hard drive and I hadn't paid for one yet, I deduced that they have done nothing to fix my computer in the 48 bourse since I dropped it off. I needed to get a camera before I flew out for a trip to Europe the next day. My local Best Buy had one left and it sold literally to the customer in line in front of me. Games with my neck best option but they were not running the same promotion and I wouldn't make it in time for the 9 p_m door closing. I went in looking to get a stand for my TV that had a mount on it so I didn't have to drill into the walls of my apartment. I asked an employee for help and asked him which stands fit what I wanted. He didn't really know what he was talking about and told me some had mounts but didn't know which ones. He then went to find someone that knew more and told me they would be right with me. I waiting 25 minutes in the area and didn't have one person come over and help me. As I was leaving there were about 3 or 4 employees just standing at the front talking with each other not doing anything. Whatever negative impression I had of them in years past, for whatever reason (media, reality, people's opinions....don't really remember) have been dispelled by my several recent excellent experiences with the PEOPLE and products and prices. Lauren in the Ames, Iowa store rocks! :) While calling about the availability of an item, I asked her to double check if it was on the shelf (after she said that her computer said it was in stock) as it was very important to me to know FOR SURE that it was there before I came. I sensed the tiniest hint of exasperation in her voice but she went and checked, and got back on the phone with a GENUINE smile in her voice telling me my product was available. It was a busy time when I called and she went ABOVE AND BEYOND and most of all POWERED THROUGH WITH PROFESSIONALISM when I queried her with my OCD-interrogatory. :) I never met her face to face, but people like her will keep me coming back! read more

They promised "No Interest" but then charged 14%, plus they added an insurance policy for $18 per month on the HDTV we bought. They took advantage of us. I recently went in to reposition the screen protector on my iPhone X, it was originally not placed well after I had paid for them to put it on. A certain associate named Dan put on my screen protector again and the moment I told him that I still could see bubbles on the top corners and that it bothered me, I asked him if there is anything he could do about it, he told me to just go home and that it would go away. I knew that it would not because that had happened 3 weeks before it was the whole reason I was back. So I told him that it was not going to go away and he immediately raised his voice and said "well there is nothing I can do to help you in that case you just have to live with it.
