We purchased the new washer on March 16th, in the afternoon. They delivered it at 9:00 am on March 18th. They removed the old washer, then installed the new unit. They did a test run, and it worked great! They were done and gone by 9:45 am. We paid a modest fee for delivery, install of the new unit, and removal of the old. Some places charge almost as much for that as for the washer itself! Ken's has always treated us well (we bought our previous washer from them, and they fixed our dryer) and we appreciate that. 2/17/2021 ADDENDUM: Two years after Ken finally fixed our 'fridge, it stopped working once again. It turned out that the problem Ken supposedly fixed had broken once again. The repairman ordered the parts and was back at our house in 48 hours. He had the 'fridge repaired in 2 hours. Compare this to Ken, who took 8 MONTHS to fix our 'fridge the first time. Old-fashioned store, just like it used to be back in the day. Great service and prices seem to be better than the big box stores even though they probably pay more for their stock. They do what they say they are going to do and when they say they are going to do it. We purchased an over the range microwave from them. It was a special order. It arrived when they said it would, they called and set up installation. They arrived when they were supposed to, did a clean and tidy job and the total turned out to be about $40 less than the original estimate. It is nice to support small businesses and I will always give them the first opportunity before buying from a national chain. read more

Have used Kens in the past without problems, but this last service will be the last. They were short technicians, but were able to send out 2 men to address our dryer issue. One said he had not worked on appliances for 25 years and one was training. They were both kind gentlemen. I was just in the next room as they worked and could hear them struggling just to get the cover off to work on it. This confusion continued the entire time they worked. It took 2 hours to replace a heating element that should have taken 1 hour. I got charged for 2 hours of labor as well as a $35 travel charge for living in Ames where their business is also. I called to dispute the bill, but they would not relent. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THEM GET A FIRM PRICE PRIOR TO USING. read more

Friendly, helpful, informative- to say the least. They have gone out of their way more than once or twice to help me. Their style is far from slick and glossy, and if you just want to pay for slick and glossy go ahead. If you want someone to tell you nothing and charge you $80 for just showing up, before they even take a look at your appliance, maybe they're not for you. If you want somebody to help you understand that maybe all you need is a $15 dollar part and 20 minutes to change it out, and then take the time to help you diagnose the problem, and teach you some pointers about the install as well as track down the part, this could be just the place for you. read more

These guys are just ridiculous. Their service is terrible. We are a sorority that used them in the past, and they should know our washer models etc since we have given them all the info before. They take forever to get out, then do not repair the machines when they get here, lengthening the time it takes that the washers are unavailable for service for 69 people. They seem to have no understanding that it is imperative to have things up and working. The receptionist who answers the phone is unconcerned about your issues, and unhelpful to say the least. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would! They came to fix my dryer, the service tech looked at it and said he had to order a part for it. Got a phone call two days (on a Wednesday) later from one of the secretaries asking when I would be available to let the tech in my house. I told her it wouldn't be until after 2 or 3 as I work. She abruptly told me that that would not work because her tech didn't work past 1, I asked if they could come out Friday afternoon as I get off earlier. She informed me he didn't work on Fridays either, and said the only time he could come was the following Monday. I reminder her that I didn't get off work until 2 or 3. She then told me to leave the door unlocked so he could get in. I told her that would be fine as long as he locked it on his way out. (I was leery of doing so but I am a pretty trusting guy) Monday comes along I get home from work and to my surprise my dryer still wasn't fixed!!! I tried to call no one answered nor have I received a phone call apologizing for the no call no show. It has now been almost two weeks that they said they would come out and fix it and nothing. Do not waste your time on these fools! Poor customer service lack of following through with appointments and just an all around bad experience dealing with them. read more

Purchased a refurbished dryer here. After a couple days it stopped working. Called to complain and after quite a bit of effort convinced them to come fix it. They couldnt, so was able to convince them to at least exchange it. This new one didn't work at all. Called to complain again but they refused to help because "they weren't making any money on this". These people know appliances. They helped me lengthen the life of my old dryer by a few years. Knew the parts I needed and told me how to fix the dryer myself. They also helped me fix a refrigerator I purchased on Craig's list. Right parts and what to do to trouble shoot the refrigerator. If you have patience and a willingness to do your homework these people can help you. And all the while they did not push a sale. read more

If there was a zero I would use that rating! I am a property manager of a co-op. We have GE appliances. They have been out to repair a dryer. The first appt they never showed and blamed it on GE not calling them. Ge said the repair ticket shows up in their system. When the guy did show up, the last thing that he said was he would order the heating element. He never did and didn't tell his office about it. When I called and inquired, they said they had another idea of what could be causing the burning smell and would schedule a tech. I asked when I could expect one to come out. The lady on the phone gave it to the tech and started yelling in the background; " WE"RE NOT COMING OUT TODAY" repeatedly. I told the tech that I didn't ask them to come out today. She was still sounding very rude in the background. I would call this companies staff the most unprofessional that I have ever come across. If you have a choice don't choose them. read more

My dishwasher wasn't draining, so my wife called this place to come look at it. The service guy found the problem and fixed it. 10 minutes after he left, my wife called me and told me that there was water all over the kitchen floor. I rushed home and found that the p-trap had been loosened and not re-tightened. We called the service tech, who denied touching the trap. He was the only one under the sink that day! Liar! Don't trust these people! Call someone else. read more
