It is a very fun experience to run next to jets and with helicopters flying over you. The airport features a small but excellent museum dedicated to Manassas residents who served the US Military. It is completely free and made up of local donations. I was surprised by how many artifacts they had. Anyways it's a great way to spend an hour or so. 5 stars

The airport has two runways, 3700' & 5700' long with a newly renovated Air Traffic Control Tower. Since 2009, MRA receives international (private) flights, slated as a customs landing rights airport. MRA also houses Aviation Adventures, a flight school. On site, is the Freedom Museum showcasing & honoring those who served in the military with sharing their history & heritage. Free admissions, donations appreciated. MRA is the largest regional airport in VA (other airports - Leesburg, Warrenton-Fauquier & Stafford) & is roughly 30 miles out from DC.

Called Reston Taxicabs on 7/5/17 and arranged for a pick up the…read morefollowing morning at our house in Reston, Virginia at 3:45 am to take my wife and I to the airport for a 6 am flight to the west coast for a cruise to Alaska. Expected cost of a one-way fare to the airport from our house with tip is about $30. I added their phone number (703) 745-2823 to my phone so that I could call them when we returned from vacation to take us home. The next morning no taxi arrived at the house. So, I called at 3:55 to see what happened. Spoke with the owner who apologized and offered to pick us up if we could wait. We didn't have time to wait and take another chance on a no show; so, we drove to the airport and parked in long-term parking. It was pouring rain that morning; so, this wasn't the way that we wanted to start our vacation. I called again when we arrived at the airport to let the owner know my frustration and promised to call him again when we returned. We returned on 7/21/17 and paid for long term parking ($160). On 7/24/17, I called and spoke with Joseph (owner) to discuss whether and what he might consider for compensation. I told him that the cost of long-term parking was about $100 more than the cost of two one-way fares. Joseph said that he was sorry that there was no pick up; but, claimed he didn't remember and had no record of our two previous conversations. He suggested that we might have called a different cab company; but, I told him that their phone number was in my phone; so, unless the phone rolled over to someone else--that didn't seem likely. After reviewing the facts again, it was clear that the conversation wasn't going anywhere. I gave him my name and phone number and suggested he call me if he wished to discuss further. No call was returned; so, I decided to post this note. This outcome is unfortunate because our preference is to support local business But, lesson learned--like anything no all companies are the same. My one (and last) experience with Reston Taxicabs is that they are not reliable and not accountable.

If you are somewhat knowledgeable in riding buses & trolleys, you will get acclimated pretty quickly. The H/Benning Line has eight stops traveling east & west. The H Street platforms are located on both sides of the street & the Benning Road platform on the center median. I started at the 1st stop - H/Union Station, once the streetcar arrived, I pressed the round 'open' button & hopped on. There are about 30 seats or so, a few standing areas & stop request cords readily accessible. The 411: *Streetcars are scheduled within a 10-15 minute range with the expectation to be at each stop no more than 15 minutes apart. *There's a Streetcar Tracker where you can view information in real-time, which is available via the website & smart phone apps. *For the cyclists you can bring your bikes aboard during non-peak hours & if space is available. There are no racks & you are responsible for holding your bike upright while riding. *As of now, its free to ride the DCS. Eventually (no timetable) that will change & & ticket stations will be present at each stop. *Future lines are in the works - Anacostia, North-South Corridor & Union Station to G-Town to name a few. *All Streetcars & stops are equipped to accommodate individuals with disabilities. *Streetcars operates Monday-Thursday 6A-12A, Friday 6A-2A, Saturday 8A-2A & Sunday/Holidays 8A-10P. Due to the nice weather, I elected to walk out of Union Station to N. Capitol & back up to H Street. Yet for a shorter distance, you can exit Union Station on the top level where the bus terminal is located to catch the 1st stop. A fun & for now free way to move around the H Street area if you become tired or lazy. =)

On Friday & Saturday, it runs until 2 am and Sunday and holidays, it runs until 10 pm. Very convenient and happy that the DC Streetcar is still currently free. My husband and I road this streetcar numerous of times this past week since one of the stops is right across the street from our vacation rental. It was helpful taking the streetcar to Union Station, especially with the air conditioning blasting when entering. Being that it is hot and humid visiting DC in July, that a/c was incredibly appreciative and also great to have a little from the sun too. There are so many great restaurants and businesses all along H street, I am glad the city has this provided for residents and visitors a like to take advantage of this free service. Ive been riding Reston buses with my university for now four years…read more I can say with confidence that I DO NOT RECOMMEND any Reston buses for any group. The people are fine the drivers are friendly that's the only reason why I'm leaving 2 stars instead of one. There's always something wrong with the buses. Either it's broken WiFi, broken bathrooms, dirty floors, breaking down, or catching on fire. As I write this my group is dealing with a blown tire on one of the buses trying to come back from a trip. At minimum 1/3rd of all trips have had some failure that has resulted in severe delays and a bus being taken down. I wish they were isolated but over four years it's a trend. Edit on the course of this trip another bus died on the side of the road. Updating review to one star.
