Went to Winnie's on a Sunday during Houston Restaurant Weeks and had an amazing experience from the…read moreservice, drinks, and most of the food. Off the Restaurant Weeks menu we ordered the Loaded Hash Browns in the Style of Potato Skins and the Trio Deviled Egg Trio for starters. The loaded hash browns were crispy, golden, and covered with a healthy amount of toppings especially the cheesy queso. The deviled eggs were just okay for me. They weren't your typical deviled eggs the filling was more of a mustard forward potato salad mixture. The three toppings on deviled eggs were very distinct from one another and each had its own flavor. For the main dishes we ordered the Peach Cobbler French Toast and the Breakfast Sandwich. The French toast was a little underwhelming. It wasn't made with the traditional thick cut bread and was more on the thinner side. It was loaded with toppings, but honestly the toppings overpowered the bread itself. Now the BREAKFAST SANDWICH was AMAZING!! I honestly wished I had ordered another one. I'm usually not a fan of English muffins, but the way this sandwich was made and assembled was PERFECT. From the toasted English muffin to the sausage patty, crispy hash brown, fried egg, tomato, and cheese!!!Every bite was so good! If they bring this sandwich back to the menu it is a MUST TRY! From the regular menu we also tried the Fried Chicken Crunch Wrap Supreme. It was okay. The chicken was hot and fresh, and even the dipping sauce was good. However, the Doritos were soggy, and for me, there was way too much cabbage in the inside. Overall, it was just okay. The Treasure Chest Frozen Flight is an absolute must. Not only are the drinks delicious, but they come with a cute little sparkler, which makes the whole experience a little celebration. The Saturn was my favorite. And of course, living in Houston, we all know Sunday = Sunday Funday! So yes, it was packed inside. They did have plenty of seating outside. Winnie's is seat yourself and order at the bar, and there was plenty of room to either share tables or stand around and wait for a party to finish so you could grab a seat. Overall, if you haven't been to Winnie's yet, you should definitely check it out! The breakfast sandwich alone is worth the visit if it makes its way back onto the menu.

Parking can be confusing if you aren't familiar with downtown because it's off Main St. There is a connected parking garage which you have to pay for; I think it was around $10, not sure if it can be validated because I didn't ask. When we came, it was super lively; they had a DJ playing and it was definitely vibey and a great place to start your Sunday Funday. The setup is: you pay, they give you a number, and bring your food to the table. The seating is open and they have a large patio area as well. We were there for HRW brunch which was 25 for 2 courses, but the menu had me excited as a seafood lover. I saw oysters and so many other foods I love to come back and try. I got the Trio of Deviled Eggs and my friend went with hash brown potato skins. For our main we had the NOLA BBQ Shrimp and Grits. She also got the Treasure Chest Frozen Flight, which comes with all four of the frozens they offer in a Treasure Chest with Sparklers which was perfect for her bday. Everyone was friendly; it was busy, but despite that a really good experience and I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.

He asked our food order first. We had to ask him if we could get drinks first. 3) When we did order we watched our drinks sit at the end of the bar for 10 min until I had to go retrieve them myself. 4) The food was INCREDIBLY mid for it being that expensive. Undercooked potatoes, overcooked chicken, not a single person at the table of 4 adults had a good thing to say about their meal 5) It took 2 FREAKING HOURS with no one there. When I say no one I mean completely empty 6) Trying to check out and leave. Our server who was looking for an upsell told us he saw a cookie in the back that was ready to go. Thanks for telling our 3 small children that at 9:30. Reluctantly after telling him no several times it was awkward enough to cave. Cookie took about 20 minutes to come out. We had been there for over 2 hours at that point and we had to just get up and leave. If you go to this restaurant after reading this, you deserve the horrible experience you will certainly have.

I never order tacos, but I ordered them here and they were probably the best tacos I've ever had (filling, flavorful, and not too much food). They also had an extensive drink menu. There was street parking but I was coming with a baby so unloading the stroller on the street was a no for me. There was a garage and supposedly valet parking. I couldn't find the valet anywhere in the block so I just went to the garage. It was $7 for 2 hours Service: Our server was great! It seemed like she was the only one and the place was packed ! Seating: There were 2 tops, 4 tops, and booths. They also had high chairs. They did let us pull the stroller up to a table for my little guy to sit . The space is larger than expected and was packed the entire time. They also have a large patio but none of their fans weee working Other: They have 1 unisex restroom. Luckily it was large as I had to bring my stroller in to use it as a changing table since they didn't have one. The challenging part was the door wouldn't fully open so I had to really push it to get it open far enough to get the stroller in

I love high quality ingredients and feel like they go a long way. But even more I feel like knowing what to do with ingredients go even further. I hate buying high quality ingredients meals where the chef did little to enhance the food. Not at all the case here. EVERY dish you order while have the chef's handprint on it and I F'n LOVE IT!! I've enjoyed ChopnBlok since I first tried it at POST Houston but I'll leave this review to focus on the Montrose location. Now come on this review journey with me! I had been meaning to come here for a minute but had never gotten around to it and the first time I did was when a friend told me about "Parlay on the Blok", which is a block party series they do and this one they had collabed with The Breakfast Klub!!! So combining with one of the places that is already one of my top spots in the city plus good vibes I had to pull up. It was popping there so was a thing to get a spot and get that order in but I'm glad I did. Beyond the fact that it was a good vibe for the culture and the community out there. The food hit! We got there late for the block party so some items had ran out and honestly it was for the best because I would've ended up buying some of everything they were offering. I got the Wings & Rice and the Malt Short Ribs and Grits. The first was The Breakfast Klub's wings with Afro brunch fried rice. The second came with a dòdò pepper relish with a malt demi-glaze. Boy oh boy! Already knew the wings was going to hit and the fried rice paired really well with it. The short rib was so damn tender and the relish and glaze just....just give me some more! Both of them are dishes I would order again if they were on a constant menu. As someone who doesn't eat pork, I love that this is a spot that I can count on putting out delicious food packed with flavor and know they have not a lick of pork on the menu. Now for their regular menu items lol. I was in the area so I popped in for their happy hour and of course they delivered. Love that they have the community tables, which allows for people to get a table as a walk up but not at the bar. It also creates a special space to connect with strangers, as you can be sat across the table from someone you've never met as you both enjoy deliciousness. If you haven't noticed yet I love this place and will basically only have good things to say, and it all comes from the most honest space. Happy hour offers some of their main dishes just in smaller portions. I started off with the Suya and Cheese patties and I honestly have a hard time imagining me coming here and not ordering these. From the flaky breading to the meat and cheese inside it does everything it's supposed to. I also got the Golden bowl and every bit of it was delicious. You can give me a side of the Jollof Jambalaya everyday and I'd be good. I'm usually not for alcohol with my food but was in the mood for a cocktail and I wasn't sure on the Irie Punch and my waitress brought me and shot of Irie Punch that I quickly ordered after tasting. The Deviled Scotch Egg is suck your teeth and fingers good. It's so damn good that I literally had some of the greens they sit on and thought it was the egg filling on it just to realize it was the dressing they had on it. I was sucking the damn mini salad off my fingers it was so good. For the greens and dressings, which are just garnish for the egg, to be that good is truly ridiculous. I got a side of the Waakye Fried Rice not realizing it is a black rice dish, but even that was still good. Chef Ope Amosu does not miss with a single dish served. They have been Michelin recognized and I honestly think it is beyond well deserved. Not quit reading my review and figure out why I love this place for yourself.

And the prices are so reasonable that you can really sample a significant amount from the main menu in small portions for less than half the price of the full order. It's been a while since I went not sure if there was a shift in the menu or if I'm remembering incorrect but even though I genuinely enjoyed it, I feel like it was not as good as it used to be to be. Mind you it was still excellent. One thing has not changed which is the plantain bread one of my favorite desserts. We had suya, plantain chips, beef pies, coconut chicken bites and I had the plantain bread and the new dessert. ( new dessert not my thing)

It looked like your typical breakfast spot, right? No. Absolutely not. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and at first glance, they looked like any other plate of chicken and waffles. Then I took a bite. A complete flavor explosion. Head falls back, eyes close, slump in your chair kind of good. The appearance does not prepare you for how much flavor is packed into this food. It easily puts their chicken and waffles above any others I've tried. The line was long, but it moved at a surprisingly good pace. You order at the counter, find a seat, and they bring your food to you. Counter service was good, and every table was filled, giving the place a busy, lively atmosphere. After that first bite, I completely understood why. This place deserves the hype.
