My husband ordered a "margarita" and after tasting it we realized it wasn't actually tequila but priced like there was. Service was rather slow for a restaurant with higher end menu items. The server came by only a few times during our meal and at one point I felt like he forgot we were there even though he kept passing by us. We would have ordered more food but his lack of attention made up decide to not try anything else. I joked with my husband that "we live here now" because we sat at the table with empty plates and drinks for nearly 25 min before my husband had to flag down the waiter for the check. I feel like this place has so much potential because the food was good but unfortunately it was a huge miss for us.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and modern. We celebrated our friend's birthday dinner and everyone loved their food. I shared the Huancaina fettuccine and the Teriyaki Entraña Sushi roll. Both were phenomenal and I would go as far as to say this is one of my favorite sushi rolls of all time. I also think theirs is the best huancaina sauce I've had due to a cheesy profile that it has (and I am a cheese lover). We also had a Maracuyá Pisco Sour, which was beautifully presented and the perfect balance of flavors. You could definitely taste the Pisco, but it was not too strong. Our service was also phenomenal. Our server checked on us often and was very friendly. While the prices are a little high, the quality and flavors make it worthwhile. I definitely will be back and highly recommend for Peruvian / Nikkei food lovers like myself.

We visited Mancora for dinner and enjoyed several items. As an appetizer, we started with the Chorros à la Chalaca which are one of my favorites. They came fully loaded with all of the toppings! Would gladly order these again. As entrees, we ordered the classic ceviche, tacos, Seafood tacu tacu, and lomo saltado. Everything was delicious. I was very impressed by the sauce on the Tacu Tacu and will consider ordering that as my entree in the future. The tacos were my entree and I found them to be very well portioned in terms of filling and the flavors were phenomenal, especially with the accompanying sauces. Perhaps the best part of the meal was our dessert - picarones! Our waiter did warn us that they are not exactly like "traditional" Peruvian picarones, but they are so delicious nonetheless. They come out freshly made and warm with plenty of syrup. They also have delicious pisco sours and offer Inca cola! In terms of seating, the restaurant is very large, so there is always space available. The service was very attentive and food came out in a very reasonable timeframe. I look forward to returning to reorder some of our items (like the picarones) as well as to try out other items on the menu! Highly recommend to any Peruvian food lover.

Don Lucho's is probably the closest you will get to a Bronx or Spanish Harlem-style bodega sandwich…read moreshop in West Broward. It's in Coral Springs and has been open for at least two years, and I feel stupid not having gone there this long. It's inside a Grab-N-Go convenience store, and while there is some bench seating, it's a takeout-oriented business. The menu is a mix of Cuban, Peruvian, and Bodega-style breakfast and lunch sandwiches, empanadas, tamales, and ceviche (which I have not tried yet). I got two sandwiches: #1 The Chopped Cheese, which is NOT listed on the printed menu, is posted, and I suspect it is a fairly recent addition. This is not a particularly gourmet or foodie sandwich, as it was created in Harlem or the Bronx (nobody knows exactly; multiple people and bodegas claim origination). It is as blue-collar as it gets, with Latino, Yemeni, or Pakistani origins. But it has been the subject of much Youtuber, Instagrammer, and Tiktok fanfare in the last year or two. Essentially, it is ground beef (a burger) that has been chopped up on the grill using a large spatula and seasoned with an MSG-heavy Badia/Goya sazon or halal meat spice blend with melted American cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a hard roll. They're using a soft hoagie roll here, but it is excellent. In NYC, you can expect to spend $7 or less for a basic one; here, it's $10.55. It's good if you have that sort of craving. #2 The Butifarra. This is a Peruvian sandwich made with roast pork (sliced uncured ham), thinly sliced red onion, lettuce, and a lime dressing with oregano. It's really good. I also tried their in-house empanadas with ground beef and garlic shrimp. Both are good. The french fries are also really good; they are of the skin-on type, so it's definitely a better product than what most fast food places buy. Order them well done, (Buen Hecho) There are no tostones to be found here, though. They have a Cuban sandwich and a few other things that would go well with those. The place offers several different in-house dipping sauces; I got a spicy green one and a habanero one. When I took photos and video, the staff freaked out, "NO SE PUEDE GRABAR!" so I only got about 30 seconds of the chopped cheese being made. The bodega has typical convenience store stuff, but it also sells a brand of chips made in Miami called "Rap Snacks," which looks interesting.

There was a large group (a party of some sorts) and a lot of great singers; and so many people jumped up to dance along with many of the songs. We tried a couple of varieties of the peruvian classic drink, Pisco Sour... once traditional and one with a mango twist. They were very good (not my thing but very good for what they are). We shared one of their ceviches (amazing) I ordered Tacu Taco with chicken and my husband got some seafood dish; I can't remember what it was called but I know we could've shared one dish since the servings are huge. The vibe did not disappoint. They play great music, the atmosphere is fun, and the service was friendly. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the timing of the food. I received my dish first, but it took about 10 more minutes for the person I was dining with to get theirs. I also noticed the same thing happening at a few tables around us, so it seems like the kitchen was running a little behind that day. Now, the food itself? Delicious. I ordered the shrimp ceviche, which was fresh and flavorful, and the filet mignon lomo saltado. The steak was a bit tough to chew, but the flavor of the sauce was spot on and really well seasoned. Overall, despite the slight delay with the dishes, I enjoyed the meal and would come back to try more. Their Peruvian-Asian fusion options sound especially interesting, and I'd love to explore more of the menu.

Which is awesome because I would never have known what to order. He did the ordering for both of us, and he ordered too much, but it was all quite good. We started with potatoes in a cheese sauce and ceviche. The potatoes were amazing. I've never tasted anything quite like them. The ceviche was good. Next we had something that was veggies, white rice and French fries in a brown gravy with beef. Also quite tasty. Then fried rice with various types of meat and seafood mixed in. I tried it and it was good, but by this time I was pretty full, so I only tasted it. I'll have the rest for lunch tomorrow. We drank Inca Kola, which is very popular in Peru, although now it's apparently made by Coke, but still, quite tasty. They have a diet version, but I don't touch artificial sweeteners. We passed on dessert as I had eaten too much already. I don't have anything bad to say about this place. The service was good, the food was good, the restaurant was clean. I can't comment on the prices because I honestly didn't pay any attention since I wasn't paying for the meal (thank you, Kalo), but he didn't say anything bad about the prices. Came with fresh onions and a piece of sweet potato. Nice portion. The Jalea is a big platter of fried mixed seafood. The breading was seasoned and delicious. The sauce it came with had onions in it which I loved! It was a little too fried for me but not burnt so it was all good. The steak and pesto pasta was hearty. The steak was grilled to medium rare very nicely and the pasta was al dente with plenty of sauce. Will be coming back soon!

We arrived a little before noon and were promptly greeted and offered seating of our choice. The gentleman then came over to take our order. For sure, we wanted the Ceviche Mixto, but I wasn't certain what else we might want to order. The server suggested the grilled octopus as that is his favorite dish. The ceviche was a lovely mixture of fish, octopus, sweet shrimp, and mussels. It was accompanied with a heavenly sauce, thinly sliced red onions, soft Peruvian corn, and soft sweet potato chunks. It was so good that I had to force myself to slow down and savor the dish because I really wanted to devour it! He then brought the octopus out. Three large pieces of tentacles grilled and served on a hot cast iron skillet. It was accompanied by slices of white potato that sizzled on the skillet creating a crispness on the edges. Of course, there was also seasoned Peruvian corn that sizzled alongside the potatoes and protected the delicate octopus from over cooking. The octopus melted in my mouth. It was tender enough to cut with a fork and had amazing flavor. This little unassuming restaurant is worth visiting multiple times! I can't wait to go back and try some other authentic dishes alongside very fresh ceviche!
