I was in the mood for Brazilian. I was in the process of having new hurricane doors and windows installed at my house (that's a separate review) and the men who fid the installation all happened to be Brazilian. And I was hungry, so I looked for Brazilian food and found Casa do Pastel. A pastel is essentially an empanada, but deep fried. I didn't know what to get, so I asked the young lady with the pretty smile what was good. She suggested the beef, egg and cheese (that's one) and the chicken, cheese and bacon. When she brought the food she asked if I wanted ketchup, because I am that white. I asked for hot sauce. Both were delicious. I prefer beef over chicken (my doctor hates that), so next time I'll have two beef. Or maybe a shrimp. I also had a glass of sugar cane juice. I've had that before and it was just like I remembered it. The place is clean. The service is excellent. The food is good. A very winning combination and I will be back. read more

English I drove 20 minutes during my one-hour lunch break expecting a good Brazilian meal. I ordered a chicken pastel and sugarcane juice. The juice was okay, but the chicken pastel was inedible -- it tasted like raw dough filled with a gray, flavorless paste that seemed microwaved. I left without eating, wasting my entire lunch break and working the rest of the day without food. The person in the kitchen even peeked out to see if I would eat it. I left the food untouched on the table. No refund, no replacement, not even an apology was offered. I'm Brazilian and know what a good chicken pastel should be. I wouldn't come back. The food just didn't hit the mark. We ordered the cheese and beef pastel -- the cheese one seemed premade and barely warmed, with unmelted cheese. The beef pastel had a good amount of filling, but it wasn't hot, which made it underwhelming. The coffee was watered down and had an odd taste -- definitely not enjoyable. The cheese pressed sandwich was below average, and the coxinha was just okay. The one highlight was the fresh orange juice, which was actually really good. I ordered online and paid 20.04$ for a chicken sandwich, a natural juice and what they are known for a Pastel. The service was good and I got my food quickly since I was the only one there. I would expect for a facility who names themselves house of pastels that the Pastels would be the best thing on the menu. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in finding my pastel had NO filling when i took my first bite. it all sat at the bottom and my pastel was 90% air and dough and 10% chicken corn and cheese. Essentially I paid 4.05$ for fried empanada dough. NOT PICTURED is my Pao de Queso (cheese bread) that had a piece of paper towel fried to the bottom of it which the front cashier replaced for me.. I will say the chicken sandwich was yummy and flavorful - the patty was 2x as big as the ciabatta it was served in but it was worth every bite. I would not have expected that to be tastier than what they are known for. I wouldn't recommend their sugar cane juice either - had an off after taste. read more

I was in the area and I got the munchies, I've seen this place several times so I decided to try it. I always assumed it is a Colombian bakery but I was so very wrong it is actually Brazilian. The place inside is very airy and the colors are very appealing to the eye. I got a café con leche and a chichen empanada. The empanada was very dense and different than your typical latin ones. Chicken filling felt almost like a paste, very different.the dough is the same as Colombian empanadas though. Service was good this is a order at the counter and bring to your table type place. No frills. I wasn't a fan of the empanada and based on that I would not come back, or rather, come back for that particular item. but the place is great and they also have cakes and desserts, which I didn't try. Service was fast, they have a pretty large variety of menu items, and the inside is nicer than expected. I highly recommend the chicken cheese balls. The chicken salad sandwich looks very basic as it was just on sliced bread, but it was made very well. It tasted like they added a secret ingredient. My boyfriend liked the flan. Our empanadas were freshly fried. The dulce de leche empanada was yummy. The chicken in the chicken and cream cheese empanada was very dry... I did not enjoy it. Really good place for snacks and some Brazilian treats. We love the Coxinhas (please do get some chicken ones with cream cheese....amazing!!!) It is a small local and a simple decor but it reminded so much of home and local business with great food to offer from the home countries. They have churros, cheese balls and the most amazing Corn/Cheese and coconut cake.....delicious and out of this world, a true treat. The other deserts are also good, they make great flan and the chocolate cake is ok. We didn't like the passion fruit mousse that we love from another local Brazilian business. Went here at 5:05 pm on Saturday 11/14/20. One girl behind the counter, one sweeping. I said I'd like 6box of pastries. They asked "how many" ? I said "I don't know yet but a small box". The stood there staring at me. What I expected was someone to grab a box and a piece of wax paper. Load the box, add it up at the register. I pay, I tip, I leave. I wasn't in the mood to train employees at a place that I'm not employed at so I put down my menu, said thank you and left. They stood inside laughing, completely oblivious as to what had happened. The pastels, however, I consider to actually be empanadas! There is a wide variety, including chicken, beef, cheese and if you're in the mood for something sweet, there is something called a nutella pastel, and it is simply deelishous!!! The sandwiches are pretty awesome too. My favorites are the black forest ham, chicken and basically any egg sandwich. Pretty good Brazilian food. My wife had pork and corn soup with a chicken pastry and some guava pastries. I had a chicken ball, beef and yucca pastry, cod and yucca pastry, and ground beef pastry. Everything was good except for the cod pastry. The cod pastry wasn't cooked completely and also wasn't that tasty. The sugar can juice also tastes really good. Next time I come here I'm trying the chicken pie or maybe several of the desserts. :) read more

We bought an acai bowl and we were VERY disappointed. The amount of "acai" which wasn't even pure because they add strawberries was very little. I could measure the amount of "acai" with two of my fingers. The bowl wasn't even half full. Never buying acai there again or going to that place...it's a rip off. It's also an insult to the Brazilians that are used to having good quality and quantity of acai. read more
