Sooooo goood! Perfect balance of cheese, sauce, and ingredients for me. If you love a lot of cheese, this is not the place for you...but it is the place for me. While the cauliflower pizza I had was satisfactory as far as pizza goes, I will never pay $16.50 for a personal sized pizza again.

I am completely obliged to write a review for Bernie's - my brothers turned me onto Bernie's in high school, and I continue to drop in whenever I'm back in town... obviously, the pizza is banging....!! Let's get the negative out of the way so I can just be done with it - the seating and the location are not the best, you can easily drive right past it, and dining-is is not the best option.. eat in your car if you are so compelled, I sure as hell have. OK, that's done...phew. Bernie's sauce is absolutely amazing. It is some of the best sauce I have ever tasted on a pizza... and I am a die-hard, raging, pizza-freak... I live in Jersey, I'm constantly traveling throughout the NYC metropolitan region, therefore when I'm judging local pizza, I'm biased as hell. Allegedly, the secret to the sauce is something so unique and creative, the girls are going to take it to the grave. The pie is ultra-thin. The cheese + sauce ratio is PERFECTLY balanced. What does Bernie's do best? Minimalistic pies. Seriously. Don't go crazy on the toppings - if you are a toppings freak, then go somewhere else. This is not the place. Don't get me wrong, their pepperoni is bomb, but don't go nuts, the crust is just way too thin.. If you are a plain/one topping kind of person, this is the place. The flavors are so, so good, it would be a god damn shame to overshadow Bernie's simplistic perfection. The girls who work the counter have been working there for years and years, I believe they now solely run the family business. Show them some love - they really serve up a quality pie for dirt, dirt cheap when really...Grotto Pizza SUCKS and is ridiculously over-priced. So, yeah, give Bernie's a shot. I grew up on this pizza. It's been the go-to pizza place in Dallas for my family since the 70's. It's no longer owned and run by Bernie, but the girls do a great job carrying on his legacy. The crust is thin and our favorite topping has always been onion. I love that they're now offering alternatives (cauliflower crust, etc) for the more health-conscious and those with special dietary needs. This is simple, no frills, thin-crust pizza. When I was in college (mid-2000s), you could get a large cheese pizza from this place for $5. And for $5, it wasn't a bad pizza. Not good, but not bad either...for 5 bucks. However, they've upped their price to $9 (if my memory serves me correctly), and for $9...the pizza sucks. There's barely any sauce and the cheese slides right off the pizza. Trust me, there are A LOT better pizza restaurants in the Dallas area. read more

Bernie's is one of my favorite places to get pizza for two reasons. First, the food. The dough is excellent --- on the thin side but with a pleasant chew and crunch. Feta and Spinach is my favorite, but other kinds were good as well (e.g. plain, chicken wing, shrimp scampi etc.). Never had the stromboli, but my friend said it was very good. Seocnd, it's hard not to root for the owner. You occasionally see other people working there, but most times you will talk to the nice owner. It's impressive to see her simultaneously making pizza, answering calls, and greeting customers. So bonus points for that. Few things to note: they used to have a sitting area, but that's no longer true. So takeout is really the only option now. Bernie's also only serves pizza and strombolis. This mean you will not find other items like wings, sandwiches, etc. That's frankly a good thing --- there are too many restaurants that have a huge menu where every item is average or poor. Bernie's has a small menu but everything is delicious. Gordon Ramsay would approve. read more

This is by far the best place for pizza in the back mountains, nothing beats Bernie's. They have great sauce and great service. When people say they don't know if it is crust or cardboard have them go to Leggios for then worst pizza in the back mountain. read more

Bernie's Pizza has been a long time favorite for many of the locals. Not only are the prices cheap, the pizza is great. Don't come here if you are looking for anything fancy - the pizza is simple, as it is intended to be. That doesn't mean it isn't bursting with flavor, however. GREAT, thin pizza. They use the best ingredients it seems, and the pies are always cooked to perfection. They even sell frozen pies that bake up wonderfully in your oven. No kidding!
