Overpriced appetizers, the menu entrees seem to have more normalized pricing, won't say it's reasonable pricing for entrees but fair. Upstairs main floor bar area is dirty, sticky, grimy. I don't recommend eating at this restaurant. the waitress was very nice but the service was horrendous. We blatantly saw the waitress give the other table nachos, even when they arrived way after us, before we ever even got them. then our food arrived but no show of the nachos, and waited very long just for our nachos to get cancelled off of the bill. Than I preceded to put my chicken into the box to chase my kids around the house with it since it was so scary looking. The chicken looks fake and is not appetizing. We went on a girls night to Bernie's, it took the waitress 20 minutes to come to a table and then it took an additional 30 minutes to get our drinks! It was not busy for a Monday, after receiving drinks, we started to order dinner, it took an hour and 10 minutes for dinner to come out, One of the girls ordered lobster they gave her a cracker no pick and when she asked for a bowl they didn't have any bowls so it was dripping everywhere!!!!then when I asked for a second drink they were out of red wine and out of white wine. The sandwich that I had there was more than I could eat let alone their made from scratch onion rings. It may have all been due to their excellent clam chowder. There were definitely more diced clams than potatoes in that creamy soup. I had a Bloody Mary with my lunch and it didn't lack for garnishes. For being my first time in Hampton beach and never writing 1 single review in my whole entire life. I had to create a profile to discourage people from coming to this bar. I'm here on a work trip with 14 of us (mind you we all work in the service industry and our restaurant closed for 4 days to give their employees a paid break). This was the 1 bar we were all pumped to stop at, knowing so from their social media following. Trust me, do NOT waste your time or money if you're not friends with the bartender Luke. The least friendly, cockiest, slowest service, worst bartender I've ever met. He had his posey sitting at the bar that he was only acknowledging. When he FINALLY came over to us after 20 minutes, we were fully talked crap about by his 5 girlfriends sitting at the bar. The dirtiest looks for even just asking for a beer, you would think I hooked up with her boyfriend. I know this review won't matter to the owners reading it, but hopefully for the new customers wanting to check the place out. Save your time, money, and self worth if you don't want the bartender and customers giving looks and talking about you. The most belittling experience of my whole entire life. Absolutely disgusted in how I was treated, and will never give $1 to this establishment again. If I acted that way at my restaurant I would be long gone. I've enjoyed 5 days of amazingly fresh, sweet seafood, but today I was lured to "Bernies Beach Bar" on a quest for my favorite seafood - mussels (only one other place serves them). It may be the "biggest deck on the beach" but it's apparent they draw only two types of customer: a) those who are there exclusively to get hammered and b) those who know no better and for whom Mrs. Paul's and Gorton's serve as the haute cuisine of fresh/quality seafood. Dry, rubber mussels with chunks of chorizo that looked more like alpo...dry, flaky scallops and "haddock" (which tasted remarkably like cod) and whose best days were likely seen several days ago when they were "fresh" or taken out of the freezer......unless getting schmammered is your goal - save your money and eat at ANY other restaurant on the strip... A stereotypical Hampton Beach bar but perfect spot after a long day on the beach. Came here over the summer with my fiance and another couple. We lucked out and didn't have to wait for a table but this place gets PACKED! They have a ton of table on the roof deck on the second floor. We all got margs and shared a few apps. Our waiter seemed disappointed we didn't order more. Food was as expected - hard to mess up nachos and fried calamari but we enjoyed it! They had cornhole up on the deck and I think it turns into dance party later on in the night. read more

Attention Celiac GF Diners! Absolutely heartbroken that this restaurant can no longer be safe for celiacs. Have loved coming here for years and recommended to other Celiac friends. Now there is NO GLUTEN FREE FRYER= means no fries, onion rings, fried apps, fried seafood =Not safe. Any GF bun for any sandwich is put through a toaster with all other bread=not safe. I hope management steps up and goes back to exceptional offerings. But until then, their GF menu is useless when 80% of offerings are not safe to eat. read more

The lobster rangoons weren't as disappointing as the sauce it were served with. The raspberry lime ricky tasted awful. And the stuffing in the stuffed haddock ruined the dish. My family went to Bernie's last fall and the food was delicious, especially the lobster rangoon! For the last 8 months, I kept telling everyone that it was my new favorite food. We went back today, and I was so disappointed that there was only a tiny bit of meat in them. It tasted like crabmeat to me. Where were the lobster chunks? They were crispy and served with a great sauce. I also had the very best salad that I have ever tasted! I came here the night before July 4th and had a great time. The bar didn't seem too exciting at first until you go upstairs and there's a huge outdoor dance floor. I've been to Hampton plenty of times over the past few years but never stopped here. I loved this place. Nice rooftop area, a game area, awesome views of the ocean and beach as well. Got a seafood plate with some friends, and enjoyed it. Definitely getting it again next time. Nice beer selection as well. I love the 603 brand. A great place always has a wait to get a table and this place is just that. It only loses a star because the waiter brought our table the wrong drinks, brought our food to the wrong tables before realizing it was ours, and 2 different sets of utensils were missing either the fork or knife. Been coming to Bernie's for YEARS. EVERY year we rent a house on L Street and on Monday nights we go to Bernie's for the buck a shuck. This year was no different. Had a fabulous dinner on Monday. Later that week, my friend and I went in for a cocktail. Sheb ordered a tap cider. I ordered a vodka tonic. I WATCHED him pour it. It was WELL vodka. We drank those and ordered another round and asked for our checks. Fucker charged me for two TITO VODKA drinks when I was sitting RIGHT THERE and watched him make my drinks and they weren't Tito's. So they overcharged me by 8 dollars. How many others do they do that to? And his name tag did not say "Rene" which was the name on my check. Shame on you Bernie's. Is this taught at bartender class? A friend and I stopped here for some dinner after being at the beach all day. We could see the deck and bar from the beach, and it looked like a good time so we decided to check it out. We ordered oysters to start, which were awesome! You have a choice of different oysters and sauces to dress them with. We also ordered drinks-- I got the bomb pop drink, and it was AWESOME. It tasted just like the red white and blue popsicles. For dinner I ordered the mahi tacos..they were really fresh and delicious. My friend follows a gluten sensitive diet and was pleased to find a gluten free menu here that had fried calamari. It looked and tasted like the real thing! Overall I love the vibe this place gives off. Definitely a touristy beach spot, but the food and drinks are delicious. Plus who doesn't want to go to a beach bar with a deck and an amazing view!? I've been going to Bernies for years. I like the food and atmosphere. Ate lunch there on Monday. We ordered fried haddock sandwich, captains platter, kids pasta and a few drinks. Waitress asks what side with captains platter. My husband says cole slaw. When he got his meal there was two cole slaws. Haha. It already came with one. Would of got something else. Also asked for extra tarter sauce. There is $1 extra charge. The captains platter is $31. Seems ridiculous to charge $1 for tarter sauce. It's mayo and relish. read more

Great food and service, gorgeous view. Low rating given today as many staff were wearing masks around chin, under nose, gator around neck, even when in close proximity to customers and other staff. The lack of many Bernies staff ( our waitress and hostess were wearing masks correctly) for Covid safety precautions communicate that they are not taking the virus seriously and demonstrated total disregard for their customers and other staff. Many NH restaurants we visited for outdoor dining are practicing very responsible safety precautions. With improved safety precautions, this restaurant would be very very good. read more
