A group of people is gathered outdoors in a park with leafless trees and a clear blue sky. They are standing around picnic tables that have various items on them, indicating a social gathering or picnic. Two small dogs are walking on the grass in the foreground. The park has open grassy areas, and a building with large windows is visible in the background. The scene suggests a casual outdoor event on a sunny day.

Enormous park with a lake and large playground. I had a picnic potluck on Easter and it was great. Lots of grass space and also parking spots around street side.

Dex in shadow alone on the low energy side

This review is for the dog park. I have a small dog so I am always looking for parks that separate dogs based on size. But that doesn't seem to be the way Denver/Colorado does it. They have low energy and high energy sides. OK, I took my dog to the low energy side and it was mostly dogs under 35-49 pounds. My dog has been attacked in mixed size dog parks before so he is reactive whenever big dogs come near. One person with a larger dog actually asked if it would be OK to come in because her dog is shy, which I thought was very considerate. They came in and it wasn't a problem. On Saturday it was great- good weather and about 6 other smaller dogs came through during the hour I was there. On Sunday though we were alone for an hour, which is OK because my boy will play fetch and explore on his own, but it's more fun for both of us if there's another dog or two. The low energy side is much smaller than the high energy side, which is fine for us. There were lots of big dogs on the other side and I only saw one quick skirmish. I also don't love that dog parks here are dirt or sand, but since there's no other options, I will just deal with it. My boy needed his paws washed when we left even though the ground was dry- he would have been a total mess if it were wet. There wasn't any more poop here than any other dog park, but it was annoying that there wasn't a trash can in the fenced area. And it seems like poop bags aren't provided by the park but people leave extras in the dispensers. Also, BYO Water but there are bowls. Parking is easy in the lot or on the street. Overall, not bad. We had a good time.

Some Kool kid - - The image shows a playground area with several swings, including bucket seats for young children, set on a wood chip surface. In the background, there are children playing, and a lake with trees along its shoreline. The sky is partly cloudy with the sun setting, casting a warm glow over the scene. The playground is located outdoors, with natural surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere.

Good neighborly park with area for dogs, Smiley library, recreation center with outside pool. Across the street from Lakeside Amusement Park- Good walking paths and safe-

Well kept park and I only utilize a fraction of it. We take our dog here weekly. It's a great path around the lake and there's the best off leash dog park in the area at the end. Great exercise for us and our dog has a blast. I've seen big fish jump but never heard of anyone actually catching one. Thus, I don't fish here.

I came upon this park just by happenstance one day one my bike ride and was amazed by the sheer size of the place. A huge park with a gigantic lake right off to one side. The whole lake has a path encompassing its perimeter for one to walk or bike around with ease. there were also outcroppings for fishing. The park also many other trails that lead to other areas for your weekend picnics. The one thing that can be rather disturbing at this park is that on one side is Lakeside Amusement Park and Interstate 70 on the other, both can be very loud and noisy. Overall not a bad park, very clean and maintained.

Ask the Community - Berkeley Park

    Is there any horseshoe courts?

Yes, but not currently. They used to have four areas. When construction is finished it looks like they'll have six to eight courts. Unsure on when park construction will be completed though.

Are there rules at Berkeley Park that forbid dogs from swimming in the lake?

    Yes Dogs must be leashed.

Beginning a city here proved to be a poor choice as the waterways were prone to periodic flooding. The City shifted to the northeast and this area was ignored and filled up with heavy industrial users. A huge flood in 1965 destroyed much of that infrastructure and provided an opportunity for redevelopment. The Greenway Foundation was a prime mover in the 1970s to create a park highlighting this area. A major update in the 1990s focused on floodplain management and further enhanced the park as a hub for the regional trail system. Today this is a highlight of Lower Downtown. The main park area begins at the south edge of the River and covers both sides of Cherry Creek. The trail system runs through this and continues north, south, and east. The Japanese gardens were my favorite. A cozy cafe is available for small bites and refreshments as well. The property is extensive and immense but just the right size to explore. The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? The final fireworks display in Creekside Park is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015. I, for one, will be there to help send Creekside Park out with a bang. Yelp Review #400

Or to just play at the park, and a lot of people go there for running, biking, or playing soccer. One of the best things about this park is that it did not smell bad. I noticed because I know some parks have a stinky smell, but this one did not. Even though we went during the summer, it wasn't super hot and there were not a bunch of bugs for that time of year. Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. Overall Experience: My husband and I went right before sundown to do a picnic and painting date that also served as a photo shoot. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it. We had a really fun time and I highly recommend this place.
