I just finished filing my complaint with American Honda Customer Service. This is the worst Honda dealer in the Bay Area. From Ken Quan in Internet Sales, to Matt Weathers in Service, all the way to the Dealer Principal, Steve Hayworth - there is zero (0) customer service. I bought an Odyssey from them on a Monday, brought it back Sat to have an ext trim piece replaced as it was damaged upon delivery. That day I showed them a damaged int. panel i wanted replaced. (That's where the nightmare came out). It took them a full week to get the part...it came damaged (Honda of America's fault). It took Berkeley another 6 working days (part didn't come in till the following Mon) to get the part in. Apparently Berkeley didn't care that I had not driven the car for over a week...but offered to let me drive it home on Fri so I can then bring it back Mon when the replacement for the replacement part came in. Thanks guys for offering a very inconvenient resolution. So I complained...the Thurs. i found out the repl.-replacement wasn't due in till Monday. I told them that their service was dissapointing, that I didn't value their offer for additional free (bad) service on my new car. I'd rather have something tangible. I already bought my mats and other accessories. Matt said his hands were tied. I took my complaint to Mgmt. That's where Mr. Dealer Principal Steve Hayworth comes in (after being passed off by the other dealer Principal Tim Beinke). Steve basically says he's sorry to hear I'm unhappy but, feels that everyone at Berk. Honda did right by me and that none of them understand my reasons for ranting about bad service....that i'm just out to get free stuff. Says he, "won't be held hostage" by my complaint, and that 'he'd like to do nothing to compensate me for this horrible service and purchase experience'. I told him that I appreciate his honest opinion, that we differ on what customer service means as well as their perceived performance. I told them they can expect the lowest scores possible when it came to me rating them. Steve said fine. I'm glad I never will deal with them again and sorry I ever started. And to put things in perspective, I took my car today to San Leandro Honda for more interior warranty work (yes...there are lots of quality workmanship problems with these '11 Oddys - wait for the 2012s or better yet buy Siennas!). My Svc Advisor @ SL Honda says they'll get the part there tomorrow and the work will be done tomorrow! Props to Jessica @ SL Honda. I recently completed the purchase of a 2019 Honda CR V from Berkeley Honda. Put simply, they took great care of my wife and I from our initial contact through the end of the process. Specifically, I would like to call out owner Tim Beinke and internet manager Brent Miletich. Brent was our main point of contact throughout the transaction and, really, I could have asked no more of him. After much pondering, my wife and I narrowed our potential color choices down to 3 interior/exterior "finalists." One was white, but the other two were "riskier" choices (not your basic grey/silver/white) and Brent went out of his way to let us see an example of each choice. Once we made our ultimate decision, Brent patiently and carefully went over the post-purchase setup details (all the electronics settings, pairing phones, etc.) and sent us off in style. As mentioned, we made a specific choice of what we wanted, rather than a simple selection from existing inventory. Owner Tim Beinke got involved in the process, found the exact car we were looking for at another dealership, and did all the behind the scenes stuff to get that specific vehicle faster than I ever thought possible. And, he worked with us to get a more than fair price. In summary, we got exactly what we wanted at a very fair price. Not sure what more one can ask. read more

I have a 1991 Honda Accord that was having quite a few issues about a year ago, engine was sluggish and just not like it used to be. My other mechanic (not too good) told me it was a transmission problem. I had my doubts. Took it here and their mechanics not only found it was an engine and ignition system issue, but did an AMAZING job fixing it and at a fair price - so Five stars for the mechanic that did the work and got my old car working like new again, which it has been for the last year. I've taken it in since for minor things and a new alternator (should have installed it myself, but they gave me a decent deal so why not?), always had a good experience with the service department. Negative three stars for everyone else at this hell hole car dealership. NEVER, I repeat, NEVER buy a car here. Naturally, as my car is rather old and I have a job now, a new car was in order. I was looking through their used lot, and the sales manager sent a nice guy about my age to help me look around, and he was great. I was wondering the trade in value of my old car, so we went into the office to talk to the manager. I knew my car was worth nothing to begin with, but when I described it, the manager LAUGHED at me and actually said "Well what did you expect?" My expectations were perfectly in line, but not his attitude. He then began lambasting me about some new used car inventory way out of my price range, and when I told him I really wanted something within my budget, he just continued with the salesman stuff and I just walked out without saying a word. I had no idea salesmen could be so.... sleazy. But this guy was. I can only assume from other reviews that the rest of the team here is the same way, so stay away! read more

Great place. I've used this Honda dealership for decades. The old owners were considered excellent business people and it was considered a prime dealership. Then they sold it, and it went through a weird time with the new owners, who did not understand Berkeley and its business standards; it began to fail the public while they scrambled for better employees. But then they truly found some great guys - all three managers are crackerjack - and I have always gotten wonderful service from them since. I've gone in unexpectedly and they've given me immediate attention, and in general I do not wait long for appts. Also, I've gotten real good guidance about my '01 Honda Accord - one of the best cars ever made. I really appreciate this place being right here in Berkeley. read more

I was dealing with Brent ( Internet Manager) and man the reviews about him being unprofessional were spot-on! We interacted via email and he was so rude and pushy. I am yet to find the perfect dealership to purchase my next car but I know for sure I will never consider Berkeley Honda. I have always gone to Honda dealerships for service and maintenance, including this Berkeley location without incident. However, during my most recent maintenance check, I was informed that my front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The service consultant, Bill Salguero, stated it "seemed early" but was necessary (of note, my car has less than 50,000 miles). The total cost would be over $850. The paperwork given to me regarding my brakes had conflicting information on it, and I did not feel that I received a straight answer on if the rotors actually needed to be replaced or not. In addition, I felt that the service consultant made unrelated statements about my car. For example, he asked, what was more expensive... replacing my clutch or my brakes? Uh... I'm not here to replace my clutch... I am here about my brakes. I felt he was trying to persuade me into having my front brakes overhauled. In the end, I had a weird feeling about the whole thing and I got a second opinion. Turns out, the rotors did not need to be replaced, just the brake pads. The service was $233 at Albany Automotive, meaning Berkeley Honda was going to unnecessarily replace the rotors and overcharge me $600!! They lost me as a customer...I'M NEVER GOING BACK. I went in to buy a new 2011 CR-V EX-L from Berkeley Honda after fielding internet offers from San Leandro Honda, El Cerrito Honda and Oakland Honda. San Leandro and El Cerrito offered me the best initial offers, but I decided to visit Berkeley Honda since it was nearby and I felt confident I could get them to go lower on their price despite the claim that they would not go lower since 2 nearby dealers already offered me a far lower price that was below invoice. I did all negotiating with their internet sales manager, Brian Vaile. Brian was easy-going, and I was overall pleased with my purchasing experience. He ended up matching the below invoice offers of the 2 other local dealers after about 2 hours of negotiating. They didn't have any EX-Ls in the color I wanted in stock, so instead I bought a SE trim with a dealer-installed leather interior and heated seats. I drove out of the lot with my car that very night. There are however two reasons why I am giving 2 stars. 1) Brian misrepresented facts about the car I was buying. Brian was adamant in claiming that the only difference between the EX-L and SE trims was the lack of a moonroof on the custom leather installed SE, but this was false. The EX-L has heated mirrors, USB/ipod connectivity, center console, and a few other small but significant differences, all of which Brian did not mention when asked multiple times. 2) I went in to the dealer again to complain about the job they did on the leather installation. They did a good job overall, but on the leather around the cupholders, there were two very large and deep creases that I thought were unusual. I was assured that the custom leather installation will be like a factory installation on the EX-L. The manager there, J.R., inspected the area I had a problem with and he treated with me like I was a total idiot and from the start seemed completely uninterested in listening to what I was saying. I even got them to look at the leather installed around the cupholders on the factory installed cars, and either they were feigning ignorance or need to get their eyes checked because there were no deep creases on the leather of those cars. J.R. was starting to get visibly angry at my insistence on getting the leather installation specialists to look at it, and raised his voice at me. I held my ground, and told him I'm going to believe the creases were due to a shoddy installation until proven otherwise and that I wasn't going to just take his word for it that the deep creases are normal. He said he'd tell Brian, the salesman I dealt with, to set up an appointment with me and the leather people, but a follow-up call from me and a week later, I still haven't received a response. In short, come well prepared to this dealer. They do offer great prices (as long as you do your research and have lower offers from other local dealers in hand to use as leverage), but they aren't completely honest, and J.R. is a total jackass. I think it doesn't reflect well on the dealership that they treat their customers this way after they've made their purchase. I'm taking all of my servicing elsewhere, and I'm still going to call them until they fix the problem with my leather installation. I will update if there is a resolution. read more

This review is for Matt in the service dept..one of the service advisors who greets you when you arrive at the service dept. (the other guy Rory is no good) I have been coming for many years and he is always great - friendly, positive, accomodating and helpful. This morning i brought my car in thinking I have to leave it for the day (headlights out and something off w the battery-got disconnected when husband tried to fix the bulb himself) but he tracks down a technician and fixes everything on the spot! I even made it to work on time! And it was all FREE to fix the light and my battery issue. (Just had to pay $17 w tax for the bulb) The other service advisor Rory, is the worst - rude, mean, argues and makes you feel stupid. 1 STAR for him. My sister came a yr ago based on my recommendation ans because of RORY she wont come back. They fixed her aircon and she thought it didnt seem that cold. When she asked about it this Rory guy started arguing and making us feel stupid because we werent car people. Avoid this guy! Hes there on the weekends. The service dept isnt all good but get Matt, and you should have a great experience. read more

First time car buyer, I heard all the horror stories and got some first hand. But I contacted all of the Honda dealers in the Bay Area via online sales and I have to say Berkeley Honda won my heart. They emailed me right away confirming what I wanted and gave me a quote the way I asked for it "OUT THE DOOR". They then did a lovely breakdown that was really clear where the cost was coming from and it felt all on the up and up. Other dealer gave me back and forth with emails that looked like they typed them out on their smart phone. Brian V. was professional (used complete sentences) and polite. Other dealers felt slimy and when I told them what Berkeley Honda had quoted me some of them pretty much called me a liar. ("Send me the quote and if I deem it to be a genuine offer we will meet it" and "Good luck getting that price when you get there"). When I came in it took roughly an hour to get through the paper work, Brian answered some last few questions for me and I was back in about 4 days to get my car (they had to put some bells on the base model). -- Oh and I *did* get it for the price quoted. When I came to get the car is was washed and polished, very clean, and they even had the windows rolled down to lessen the off gassing (new car smell is ick). Everyone hates spending money and I am going to be paying for this car for 5 years but I feel good about how I got the car and look forward to developing a relationship with this dealership and maintaining it. I truly feel I *could not* have had a better buying experience than with this dealership. read more

Been here 3 times over last year getting SRS lights checked on my 2005 Honda Civic. I'm not sure the problem has been ultimately fixed, as their recommendation was to replace the SRS module and wiring harness (....most of the SRS system). However, I understand diagnosis is difficult, and some problems might elude treatment that typically solves other problems. That's not the reason for my low rating. My main issue is how one of the service advisors, Rory, responded to me when I expressed frustration over the number of times I've had to bring my car in, and how their recommendation was arrived at when the code given was for the seat belt tensioner. He explained that 'of course you wouldn't understand, you're not a mechanic'. I asked to speak to the tech, who was apparently gone, then asked to speak to a maanger, and he asserted he was the manager (as I later found out... he's not). Very confrontational to my questions and frustrations, and I felt like I was getting 'the run around'. If you don't know what's wrong, just say so... Everyone else was great though (especially those at the front desk). read more

I must say, that after reading a number of the reviews for Berkeley Honda on Yelp, I am perplexed. Under most circumstances, I find that Yelpers tend to be fairly spot on with the "lay of the land" regarding businesses, giving fair and objective reviews. When it comes to Berkeley Honda, however, this is where I part company with a number of these people as I find many of these reviews to be excessively harsh. I found my interactions with Brian Valle and Sam Korwatch on their internet sales team to be extremely pleasant, low pressure, and sincere. They never attempted to "up sell" accessories like so many area dealerships. While I did get accessories installed on my new Accord, the prices and installation fees were reasonable. Nothing like another Bay Area dealer who told me locking lug nuts, mud flaps and door edge guarding was a $869.00 package (yeah, right). Berkeley Honda was able to provide a great price and an exceptional customer service. It's a great feeling to be able to support a Bay area dealer that's not a giant corporation. I would highly encourage any of my coworkers within the John Muir Health network to give them a call. 4.5 STARS for the sales rep, Ken Quan. Less than 1 STAR for Ken's boss I was in the market for a used compact commuter car and had been searching on the web for a couple of months. I decided to wait until the Cash for Clunkers program ended, which I believed would give me an advantage. My husband and I went to the dealership and test drove 2 cars we were interested in. We ended up buying one of the cars and paying exactly the amount we wanted to pay. The car was not in an excellent condition -- stains on the seats, busted hub cap, scratches here and there, a bit worn out tires and a bit stinky. Sounds horrible, right? But, the car had less than 30k miles and was still on factory warranty. Mechanically it seemed sound, although it was a previous rental car. Ken was extremely nice and helpful. He's quite a nice guy with an interesting life story. Everything about this car purchase process was fine up to the point. However, things got really annoying after we agreed on the price. Ken went to his boss to get the paper work done for me to sign and then be out the door. Honestly, come on!!! How long does it take to generate a few forms? I sat waiting for over ONE HOUR!!! Am I being punished because I'm buying a cheap car? What the @$%$#$#@$!!!! If I knew it would take an hour, I would have gone to a nearby cafe and get some work done and then come back when everything was ready for me to sign, instead of sitting and waiting!!! I'm a busy professional, and time is money to me. I left work early to get this done, expecting to spend no more than an hour at the dealership. I ended being there for more than 2 hours just to sign the papers (I had already test drove and negotiated the price before coming into the dealership). I nearly missed my important conference call with a client. In a couple of years, we will probably need to buy another car to replace our older car. If I have to go through the same kind of waiting again, I do not want to do business with Berkeley Honda again. However, if they can prepare the paperwork in advance so that I can just come in and sign the documents, I will gladly come back here, because Ken was pleasant to deal with. read more

TLDR; don't go here. They are rude if you don't play their game. My wife and I made an appointment to see a specific car that was supposed to be at the lot. We get there and no one knows about this car. It was never there and never had been there. They look into getting it transferred over and set us up to do the credit check, etc. No big. We wanted to buy and thought the deal was ok. So then fully expected us to sign for this car and hand over the down payment sight unseen and while they were trying to get a car to bring over. It's new, why would you need to drive it? They let us know the car would be there in 2 hours. We walked away to talk it over and look over the numbers. We managed to find a different dealer colma that had the car in hand and could give us a better deal, went and checked it out, ended up buying. As soon as we could we let the Berkeley dealer know the deal was off. We got a better deal elsewhere. Nothing personal, just business. I spoke to the salesman first. He scoffed at me when I thanked him for his time. And then another person called from the dealership and decided to start yelling at me over the phone and trying to guilt trip me over the phone. I honestly did not listen to half of what he said, but I made it clear that it was unprofessional and rude and to not call me again. All of there numbers have been blocked and I will be calling customer service to report this aggravated harassment. read more

I normally do not write Yelp! reviews, but my experience with Berkeley Honda was so bad I feel it's my duty to warn others. I brought my Honda in because my check engine light had gone on. Simple enough, they told me to just drop it off and they'd have it checked and fixed within a few days. The next day I get a call from them telling me my car was fixed. Great I thought. I drove there to pick it up with a car I had borrowed, paid for the service, and my friend drove my car back to my house for me. When we got there he noticed that the check engine light was still on and told me. So naturally we drove back up to Berkeley Honda and told them that the check engine light was still on. The service guy came and said that they actually hadn't performed any service on the car and said that I'd have to leave it again! First of all there are many problems with this scenario. 1. I had already paid for the so-called service and drove off with my car. 2. There's a chance that because they never actually fixed my car, it could have caused further damage or even worse an accident. 3. If it wasn't for some sort of indicator like the check engine light, I may have never known that nothing was done in the first place. Having already paid for services that weren't rendered I said fine, and left my car with them again. Picked it up a few days later, check engine light off, and service "supposedly" done, although with these guys who knows. I was just happy to have my car fixed. I ended up telling my family about my ordeal, and what was wrong with my car. I actually forget what the problem was, but it turns out that my stepdad seemed to recall that the problem should have been covered under a warranty by Honda. My ordeal was not over. I looked it up online and sure enough the exact service I had just paid for was fully covered under Honda's warranty. If anyone should be aware of any type of warranty, shouldn't it be the actual Honda dealership??? So I called and left a message and sure enough they admitted their mistake and sent me a refund check. Again, if it wasn't for my stepdad, I could have paid for this service, which I think was like 5 or 6 hundred dollars, and never had known that it was fully covered. By this point, I was simply dumbfounded by Berkeley Honda's incompetence and left several messages with them and the manager telling them about my horrid service. Ofcourse nobody called me back, so I went in and confronted the guy who was handling my job and told him how unhappy I was with their service. He apologized and gave me a free oil change for my troubles. I never used it. For all I know they'd fill my car up with Canola oil. I have absolutely no faith in this place and their ability to do good work. You couldn't pay me enough to go back here. read more

I'm still trying to figure this place out... 1. When I wanted to bring my car here for service recently, they said Id have to bring it there by 4pm to get it worked on (the service dept closes at 6?). Understandable. The mechanics need time. So I made a 2pm appointment, and was running late with work. I called to push it back to 3pm and this time, they said that people usually need to bring their car in at 2pm to have it serviced. Ok... so I made an effort to rush over there and just work from their waiting room. They made it sound like they were really busy, but when I rushed to my 2pm, and left at 3:30 (1.5 hours for an oil change) it didn't seem busy to me. It almost seemed like they DIDNT want my business. 2. Which, on a second note that's worth mentioning, I waited in the waiting room to have my car serviced. No word from the agent. I did some work, and after 1.5 hours I asked what the status was. "Oh, your car done, it'll be out in a few minutes." I guess they forgot I was waiting. 3. I brought in my car to be appraised for their "special buyback." When he asked me questions about my car, I got the greasy used car salesman feeling from the guy. He offered 30% lower than the blue book of the car. I declined. 4. The older folks there are nice though. The cashier was nice, patient and willing to answer questions. The sales/service guys were to the point, curt, didn't smile and made me pretty uneasy. I heard this used to be Jim Doten, and that it was better; maybe the older folks are all that are left of that era. Some good things: - Occasional coupons in mail (9.95 tire rotation, 24.95 oil change) The first few times I came here, I had a relatively good experience.. but now, it almost feels like I have to "fight" for things (i.e. warranty, timely service, etc). Ricky (one of the Service managers) quickly fix the issue and guided me through using Apple car play. they seemed really busy, so I appreciate the time he took to help me out. Berkeley Honda didn't replace the plug on the oil tank properly at our last oil change. As a result, over time, it loosened and ultimate fell out while we were driving on the I-5. We were luckily a mile south of a major exit, but it was 100 degree heat and we had our small children in the car. So we got a hotel room to get the kids out of the heat while we waited 3 hours for the car to be towed to the next major exit that had a mechanic, get a temporary plug, and get us back on our way. They day after we returned from this odyssey, we called Berkeley Honda. Paul in the service department questioned our honesty when we told him they were the last ones to do an oil change on our car. The mechanic who gave us the temp plug on our I-5 adventure said there was no question that whoever did the last oil change was at fault since the plug was not put in properly. Paul was clearly trying to get out of taking responsibility for Berkeley Honda's faulty labor. But he said bring it in, he'll take a look and call me with an update. I left the car at night drop. NO ONE called me the next day to confirm receipt of the car or talk about what service would be performed. I finally called them at 4:30 that afternoon and was told Paul already left for the day. I called first thing the next morning and was told Paul was with another customer and would have to call me back. When he finally did call me back - he again doubted that the oil plug falling out was their fault. He said they would comp the oil change and new plug anyway, but went on to again question why it took so long to fall out. I explained that we hadn't done any highway driving with the car since the last oil change - only short city driving. I then mentioned the hotel costs we incurred as a result of getting our kids out of the heat while the car was temporarily fixed and at that point he said he'd have to call me back so he could talk to his manager. What kind of a place is this?? We are never having our Honda serviced there again. read more

BEWARE!!!!! Their factory technicians will destroy your car!!!! I had my car in for a recall notice and to check the brakes. As my car is WELL KNOWN for warping front rotors (they've already been done twice under warranty and car only has less then 45k miles). They call to tell me the recall is done, and by the way---- you guessed it, the brakes are warped and the warranty will not be honored... apparently brake jobs are required every 10k miles??? Quote for two rotors and pads????? A surreal $980 plus tax!!!! Retail cost on their parts is $285.... for a book time of 2 hours per the service writer....or roughly $350 per hour labor!?!?!? I declined their generous offer to a repeat customer and tell them to button it up, I can just do it later. Later that afternoon, I install my new rotors and pads. They clearly put the calipers and brackets on with an impact gun!!! As all 4 bolts were broken off when removing them... over 180ft/lbs to remove them. Factory spec is 50 for calipers and 90 for the caliper bracket!!! New caliper brackets $48, hardware $12, plus Uber to get the parts. Aside from the safety issue of cracked caliper brackets failure at speed, How childish and UNPROFESSIONAL!! Because I don't want to pay an astounding $350/hour labor, you put my family at risk and damage my car AND incur additional expense to correct your willful and grossly negligent act. Shame on you! You shouldn't need to be ASE certified or a BAR representative in order to get honest and professional mechanical work. Rest assured, I will be going ANYWHERE else for my future Hondas, parts, and service! read more

SERVICE DEPARTMENT I can't say service has always been perfect at Berkeley Honda, but I was treated really well this last time I was there. Matthew was great, promptly attending to my service needs, honoring a coupon from Oakland Honda, and getting me on the road with the driver, Ed, who graciously picked me up from beyond the usual radius. There was no condescension that I sometimes experience at other auto shops/dealers because I am female (yo'! I took auto shop in high school). What El Cerrito Honda quoted at above $900 cost me under $200. Thank you! read more

SALES REVIEW I brought a pre-owned Honda Insight here. The place was a bit old fashioned, in need of a remodel but the sales folks were easy to deal with. They didn't do throw all those sales tactics at me but instead worked with me like what a car purchase should be. They told me the car needed a new IMA battery and gave me a fair price. I didn't even need to negotiate because they seemed like honest sales people unlike other dealers that inflate prices, hide car issues and pressure you. Minus one star because the car was not ready on the day promised and they didn't call to let me know. It could just be a lack of communication between sales and service. read more

This review is for Rory the service advisor. He was very professional towards me and he treated me right the entire process. I bought a certified 2010 CRV in NY last December and I noticed while here in Cali that my AC was not working! Driving in SoCal in 80+ degrees is a nightmare without it so I dropped it off this morning to get fixed. I pulled right in and was greeted by a nice girl who introduced me to Rory. We sat down, I showed him my certification papers, he entered it into the computer all while having a good conversation with me. Rory called me a few hours later saying that I needed a valve replaced which was not under the certification but he waived it anyway so it was free! I just purchased the 2013 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan and I couldn't have been any happier! I went to the San Leandro dealership and fell in love with the car. I called around and got the best quote from Berkeley. I felt like there had to have been hidden fees because the price felt very fair. Lots of conversation with Tim and John and they were very helpful and answered all of my questions. I told them exactly what I wanted and came there the following day to pick up the car. It was such a great experience. I met with John and Ken and they took care of every thing. I couldn't have been any happier. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want - in fact, they didn't try to push anything at me! They were definitely not your typical salesmen. It was such a smooth process. The quote I got on the phone was exactly what I got when I went to see them - no surprises. Car looked perfect. It looks like they even washed it before I got there. My family bought 2 cars from Honda Berkeley last year. In the beginning I was extremely happy about my purchase. However the alarm on my car keys have never worked. I brought the keys in three times, the firs two times I was told it just needed a battery change. They changed my battery for free and the next day my key was not working once again. Recently I came in for a break change (which upsets me that I needed a WHOLE new break system after only having the car for a year, not even 50K miles on it). I told them my key still has not worked since the last time I came in. One of the guys told me I could pay 100 per key to get new ones since it was in fact the chip that never worked inside the key. I find it extremely absurd that I have to pay 200 for keys which never worked from the beginning after all the money I have put into the company. Not happy what so ever. Not to mention the fact that I have called several times, went in and left a message and still have yet to hear from the owner. read more

I'm editing the review I left last year because I realized that even though I had a very negative experience, I might have exaggerated the emotional aspects of it a bit because I was so irritated. The jist of my experience was that the service manager Rory Dimick was not 100% clear on pricing and was extremely rude to me when I tried to clarify. It really only amounted to about a $20 difference for the tire rotation service I went in for, so it seems obnoxious of me in retrospect to have made such a big deal about it, but the whole thing flared up because Rory handled the situation in a very unprofessional manner. I felt taken advantage of and was met with rage when I tried to bring this to Rory's attention. Rory's supervisor seemed to have no interest in addressing the unprofessional behavior, and so many other people here on Yelp have complained specifically about Rory that it seems obvious that this is the typical state of affairs. I definitely cannot recommend this service center, but don't want to personally attack Rory, who in his heart of hearts is probably in a great deal of pain to have acted the way he did. I feel sorry for him, but it's definitely not the customer's job to tip-toe around a manager's emotional issues. read more

Sam made the auto buying process quite pleasant. Five stars to Sam, 5 stars to Bob, 5 stars to The finance guy, but only three stars to that other fella. Overall they took really good care of me. Sam was attentive and prompt with our two week email back and forth. Took a day to get everything done and only and hour or so to sign everything face to face. 12 email messages, four or five phone calls, and one in person visit. Now I have a new car. This happened two years ago, but never got around to writing this review. Took my car for an oil change and a full-checkup. The following day, as I was driving on the FREEWAY, my car started to shut on and off. I've never had this happen to me while driving, but thankfully, I was able to get off the freeway and give it back to them. What do you think happened next, given that they did a FULL CHECKUP the day prior? A. Apologize, but still charge me for replacing the battery. B. Apologize and proceed to replace the battery for free. (Ha!) C. Don't apologize and charge me for replacing the battery. D. Blame me and charge me for replacing the battery. The answer is, surprise surprise, D. When I asked why they didn't detect this the day prior, the guy said, "Oh, you must've left your lights on all night." If I wasn't in such a rush, I would've yelled at this guy. Really? I've had the car for three years, and I've NEVER done such a thing. What are the chances that I would do that THE NIGHT AFTER THE CHECKUP? I'd like to see their records to see if they've NEVER goofed up before. I paid dearly for their mistake. I thought dealerships were expensive because you paid for quality service. I'll never make that mistake again. read more

I decided to buy there because I got the best internet quote and read good reviews about Mr. Ken Quan. I had asked for out the door prices to not have any surprises. The price they gave me was very good and "No Hassle price". So I just went there, choose the color I wanted, and did all the paperwork, including getting an insurance (Mary helped me call Geico and answer the 1 billion questions they ask) and going to the bank to get a cashier check (they gave me a ride), and left with my brand new car in just 2 hours. Mr Quan was very nice, he explained me everything I needed about the buying process and about the car. He didn't try to sell me more things for the car or to charge me more than I was told. It's my first time buying a car, but anyway I don't think it can get easier than that! read more

I worked with Rezaul from their internet sales team. He made me feel comfortable during the process and I never felt like he was trying to 'sell' me the car. In fact, it felt like I was talking with a friend about a car that happened to be for sale. He picked me up from Bart twice and came in to work on his day off so I could get the car on the only day that would work for my family. Most dealerships will try to sell you on a bunch of extra crap during the process but I didn't get any of that from Berkeley Honda. I never once heard them say "we can get you home TODAY in this car" I got a great car at an awesome price and an experience that didn't feel pushy at all. I will definitely look to deal with Rezaul again in the future. Also, Jorge in the finance office was easy to talk to as well.
