I had to swap out the battery on my wife's Toyota Camry over the weekend and had an extremely difficult time as I lacked a rachet set at home. While most cars, including my Lexus, has bolts that are easily removed with simply a wrench, Toyota decided they needed to put two different sized bolts to secure the battery in place (a 10mm for the terminal, and a 12mm for the battery frame). And to top it off, the battery frame does not have crossbars that are easily accessible. Instead, you have to finagle a socket extender in between an incredibly small, tight space that only a small child's hand would ever be able to wiggle through. Needless to say, without the proper tools, I could not do this job myself. I called AutoZone and asked if they would be able to assist me despite the fact that I purchased the battery elsewhere, and the person on the phone stated that it would not be a problem. Although this turned out to NOT be the case per their policy when I arrived, Douglas still volunteered to replace the battery for me when I discovered their tools that they lend to customers lacked a socket extender of the proper size. Although the total job took about 20mins due to the poor design employed by Toyota engineers, Douglas still generously assisted with this replacement without any complaints. I really appreciate this outstanding level of service and will definitely go out of my way to this AutoZone for all my auto parts needs! read more

This is the first time I have patronized this store, and I can't say enough about how positive the experience was. I had stopped in to buy some windshield fluid, and while I was there decided to replace a couple of dead lightbulbs in my car. Good thing! One of the bulbs was for a hard-to-reach daytime running light. Michael came out to my car to confirm that he had picked out the right bulb, then he replaced the bulb for me! While he was doing this, I noticed that another employee was installing a battery for a customer. Talk about above and beyond! This will definitely be my go-to place for car parts, even though there is a different store closer to my home. read more

On the eve before leaving town on a road trip, all of a sudden my windshield wipers start to give out. It's a rainy Friday late afternoon. Traffic is terrible. But when I walk in the door, I'm greeted warmly by the manager who quickly locates the replacement wiper blades for my 14 yr old car. And it's in stock. And then a miracle happens. He offers to install the new wiper blades for me. No fee. That's why it ain't so good to buy online. We need these brick n mortar stores and their staff and their cheerful assistance. read more

I'm not really very proficient when it comes to basic stuff like changing windshield wipers, and different things with a vehicle. I've came to this AutoZone to get some windshield wiper fluid but I ended up getting was a lot of questions answered help stabilizing my license plate and moderately priced new wipers that work flawlessly. The person who helped me, his name is German and I felt like I was in 1950 with the kind of service I was getting this is a brick and mortar corporate store, but still felt like the old days with the real person helping me answer real questions and not some GPTBS thanks again for all your help guys read more

AutoZone on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley was my hero last week. While driving over the Richmond Bridge, my driver-side windshield wiper suddenly broke and stopped working. It was honestly pretty terrifying, but I managed to pull over and temporarily rig it just enough to make my way off the bridge and onto side streets. I made my way to AutoZone, where German helped me pick out a more reliable pair of windshield wipers for my Tacoma -- and then went above and beyond by installing them for me right in the parking lot. Thanks to him, I was able to drive home safely back to Marin. I am incredibly grateful for German's kindness and support in such a stressful moment, and also for AutoZone's excellent inventory of windshield wiper options for my truck. Went to this location to pick up some fluids for my car. As soon as I walked in, Amir greeted me and helped me find all the fluids I needed, recommended some good options for my make/model, and even carried the items to the counter and to my car, after purchase. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Answered all my questions about the difference between Dot 3 and Dot 4. Great customer service all around! read more

I had one of the best retails experiences ever at this AutoZone! I'd just picked up my car from getting a tire fixed a few blocks away. The car had been sitting unused for a while and when I saw the AutoZone, I thought "I should get a new key fob battery". As soon as I walked into the shop I got a friendly greeting from German ("just like the car" he said). I asked him about a battery, he reached around a stand on the counter and handed me the right battery. "Anything else?" he said. "Hmm...I should probably get some wiper fluid...oh, and some new wiper blades". He asked me what car I had, looked it up online and came back a minute later with the blades. He asked me if I wanted help installing them, I said no thanks, paid and went out to my car. A few minutes later, I went back in. "Um...actually, I could do with some help installing the blades". He cheerfully came back out to my car, and we got the new blades installed quickly. There was a bunch of leaf gunk around the wipers and I asked him if he had a rag I could use. He got one and we did a quick clean. I asked if they had a bathroom and after coming back from using it, discovered that German had got some windscreen cleaner and had cleaned my whole windscreen! Mind blown! A totally spur-of-the-moment trip turned out to be a fantastic experience! I hadn't told German but I was in a hurry as I was going to meet my partner for a drink. Stopping to get the battery seemed a bit of a stretch, schedule-wise, but I ended up getting three things done and was back on the road quickly. I could not recommend this AutoZone more highly and, if the universe does the right thing, we'll see German as CEO of AutoZone sometime in the future! read more

They don't care about their customers they Hella ratchet Berkeley and West Oakland of course nobody cares pay your own risk. My brakes got them put in. They're squeaking like a mug. I gotta take them back under my warranty and then the man said oh you may have bought the cheap ones why do you think I bought the cheap ones? Why do you think I bought the cheap ones cause I'm black no dude I bought the most expensive ones and when he checked his computer, he said oh no, you didn't and this is the one in Berkeley right off of San Pablo in in order to get my warranty. I gotta get them taken off. Bring them back it's a whole bunch of BS, but I'm gonna go ahead and take care of that shit today. read more

I was going to get my new car battery at Costco, but when I found out I'd have to install it myself, I went to AutoZone instead. Brian was amazing! He tested my old battery, replaced it with a new one in no time, and even took the old one off my hands. He made the whole process incredibly easy. Came to get some oil for Karen... my Subaru... lol it's Pearl toned. The guys up front greeted me at the door and asked if I was looking for anything specific. Pointed out the oil wall at the back and I was good to go. Very good customer service in a time where I feel sets them apart from a lot of other places. I'd definitely come back. read more

Visited last week and was completely mind blown by this store's customer service. both "edith l" and gentleman "bryan c." were extremely helpful when i came in very last minute on a rainy day for windshield wipers and a car cover for my suv which they did not have in stock at the moment but i was showed what store did instead of just turning me down ! coming from my nearby autozone to this one the difference is fascinating will definitely be coming to this one more often even though it is farther from home. read more
