A clean, small office that offers the friendliest service. Booking an appointment was easy, I only to wait a week. Dr. Singh and his staff get you in super quick, I haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes- it's rare to have a doctor respect your time as much as his own. Not only does Dr. Singh do excellent work, but he really takes the time to get to know you, talk to you, and provides some the best service in town. He is smart and funny. This practice really goes out of its way to make the patient feel relaxed and comfortable. THIS DENTIST IS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!! I had just come from a CC county free clinic with intern that tried to numb my mouth with 3 very painful needles. I screamed sooo loud, I have never had numbing that tortured me this much. I had to leave. i felt like i was dying with this intern. I couldn't let her finish, so i left with very painful tooth and extremely painful mouth from this intern. I got Dr. Singh from 1-800-dentist who i highly recommend. This office staff was soooo terrific. I only have very small dental insurance policy. They didn't sweat me about copayment like most dentists these days do. Their major concern was getting me well and making me feel better. worry about insurance later. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Singh - SUPER PATIENT - and his incredible staff especially Sonia the bookkeeper who remembered me when i came 2 days later. He eventually performed a very difficult infected tooth extraction but he was soooo good about it and super sensiitive to my pain and comforf levels. After performing extraction, he gave me pain med in office and detailed instructions which made very big difference!!! I highly recommend Dr. Singh and his terrific staff. I can't wait to go back. As a health care professional and patient advocate with more than 50 years experience I regret that I withdrew a complaint with the California Board of Dentistry for what I consider unethical conduct. I have reviewed other postings of Ricky Singhs and find many inconsistencies including but not limited to the fact Dr Singh does not provide any financial help and charges for a basic C.T Scan may be obtained in the Bay Area at less than 50% One should also recognize that being a sole provider often can cause a problem when one has an emergency. Dr. Singh has been my dentist for over 2 years now and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Dr. Singh is not only a genuine and honest person but also a very caring and dedicated dentist. Although I did indeed need to have some intense dental work done, he and his entire staff were very gentle, professional, and made the whole experience as pleasant as it could be. Ricky Singh is probably a good dentist, but I never found out. After my cleaning, I expected him to do a check up and suggest future dental work. Instead, I was told it would be another $69 for him to check me. Friends and other dentists told me a check up was part of the cleaning appointment process. Something was bothering me, and he probably would have suggested work. I'll never know. The hygienist suggested a deep cleaning at $1000.00. Instead, I had it done by a proper periodontist. Many, many, many years ago I came to Berkeley Dentistry because my parents did. I switched here because sadly I became too old for my pediatric dentist. My parents liked the dentist they had so I gave him a try. Back then there were a few other dentists at this practice. The guy I saw was much older and a little rough. My mom had Dr. Singh once and said I should give him a shot. Right off the bat I liked him. Nice, did the cleaning and the check up at the same time, accommodated my fear of needles if I had a cavity, just an all around great dentist. Then something changed... I know that sounds sinister, and it isn't like he became an evil dentist bent on destroying the world. Somewhere along the road the other dentists just dropped off and Dr. Singh it appears took over the practice. He became less focused on the patients and more focused on the money. He started pushing cosmetic procedures that I did not want or need which made me feel like a walking money bag. Around this time I also moved to college. Not wanting to deal with the pain of changing dentists I suck with Dr. Singh. Whenever I came home I would book all my doctors that I need to see (eye, dentist, general) because I never knew when I would be back. Magically every time I would show up to see Dr. Singh he would be at the other office (somewhere in Orinda). Well I had booked a cleaning AND a check up. I didn't have the time or money to fly back up just for a check up. This wasn't a one time thing, this was an all the time thing. His staff also went massively down hill. One time that Dr. Singh wasn't able to see me I had a cleaning anyways. As luck would have it I had to fly back home again a few weeks later for an interview. I book a check up only with Dr. Singh for the day after my interview. After my interview I enjoyed a night out with some friends who also happened to be visiting which was a rare occurrence. I went into the dentists office the next day not feeling so great and with lots of plans for the day because I was leaving the following day. I told them I was here for a check up only. I get in the chair and the hygienist starts trying to clean my teeth. I tell her that I do not want that and please do not clean my teeth as I just had them cleaned a month ago. She did not listen and started stick her tools in my mouth anyways. I told her again this is not something I wanted and to stop right now. She said not to worry that she wouldn't charge me and that she would only do a light cleaning. Again I said no, but she kept going. She ended up doing a full cleaning despite my many times saying NO. Her logic was that she had already started so she would give me the gift of a "free cleaning". I never felt so sick (because of my night before) and violated by a health care professional (the many times I said no went ignored). I ended up being late to most of my other duties that day, and they still tried to charge us for the cleaning (operative word being tried). This place is a pit now. A doctor who wants to pick your wallet, a staff that won't listen to you, and some of the most atrocious treatment I have ever had. So happy that I have an awesome new dentist where I live who respects me as a person. read more

In full disclosure, my services were done well over a year and a half ago but given the other dismal reviews I doubt much, if anything, has changed. Dr Singh barely made an appearance throughout my appointments, and when he did it was solely to push Invisalign. When I declined, he seemed irritated. I felt he was faking niceties to push the extra services and it left me with a bad feeling. I know nothing about dentistry, so I'm not sure if this is a common practice. I came in for tooth pain that resulted in a root canal, and on the same day they thought it was acceptable to give me a deep cleaning. Again, I don't know if it's common practice to have these two fairly invasive procedures happen within the span of a few hours but given the amount of pain I was in I think it would have been better, if not just more professional to space the two out. Aside from my bad experience in the dental chair, the billing department was beyond frustrating, obnoxious and rude. They had "problems" recognizing my insurance and overcharged me even after many conversations with the front desk and my insurance company. Berkeley Dentistry really needs a refresher course in how to run a business without being unprofessional and money-hungry, because their way clearly isn't working. read more

Fine dental work, my concern is more for the business and financial aspects of the place. When I asked for prices, they told me filling prices after they had given me a shot and I was in the chair. That was bad. They send out cards encouraging use of insurance before the year ends as well, which is not terrible, but the place just reeks of money grubbing. read more

I am leaving him. The dental work itself has been acceptable but the billing practices are beyond the pale. They never seem to provide the information requested by my insurance company. Each billing episode is drawn out and perilously close to the deadline date for my claim. Dr.Singh has been my dentist for over 10 years. He is kind and patient. I tend to freak out over any lol pain and he is always willing to see me for tooth sensitivity over and over again! His staff is also so sweet. I can even bring my daughter in for appointments and they help with her. If you are looking for a dentist in the east bay he is your guy. read more

I went there a few years back and had a root canal done. I thought all was well, even though they did pause during the procedure and frown mumble a few words and then continue. I just went to the dentist for the first time again a few weeks ago and they said it didn't look like the material went down all the way in the canal. They refered me to a specialist who said that a peice of an instrument had been broken off in there. I had to have the root canal re-done, and they said they hadn't even seen the material they used in a long time and there were tooth fragments in there also which caused an infection. I am going to ask them for the payment for having it re-done and will update this based on that. They were good before so maybe it is just a fluke, but a very scary one nontheless read more

I have had my teeth cleaned twice here and the dental hygienist Karen was friendly and did an awesome job on my teeth. Dr Singh checked my teeth out both times and he was also very friendly and thorough. He also filled a chip in my front tooth and when the filling fell out he repeated the procedure for free. Regarding the chip in my front tooth - he did not try to "steer me" toward veneers or any other expensive procedures. He was very honest. read more

I chose Ricky Singh because he was on my plan, he has the same name as my dog, and he is near Berkeley Horticulture and Acme bread.... BUT WOW. I am so pleased with him and his staff. My first visit he cleaned my teeth himself so we could get aquainted. On my second cleaning he replaced an old ugly metal filling with white, so when I laugh there is only white. My insurance covers everything! Watching him work is like watching a music director. Gentle, efficiient, and his goody bag has LIP BALM IN IT!!! I just LOVE THIS GUY. read more

Dr. Singh is a really great, attentive dentist. I've been to his office twice now - once for a cleaning and once to get two cavities filled - and both times I had a positive experience. The cleaning itself was pretty typical, though everything was done with a high level of service (both the hygienist and Dr. Singh were very kind and attentive). The best part was the goodie bag at the end - toothbrush, toothpaste, Listerine, chapstick, and toothpicks! However, it was the cavity filling that really set Dr. Singh apart from the rest. First of all, he went over the total price of the work before he actually started working. I thought this was a great approach so there are no surprises at the end when you get your bill (Note: Metlife/SHIP only covers silver fillings and Dr. Singh only does white fillings, so you do have to pay a little more than 20% of the work, though it's still affordable). I have very sensitive teeth, so I told him upfront that I need a lot of Novocaine. He was happy to oblige and gave me more than the average dose. Then during the work I experienced a little discomfort and he stopped right away to give me more Novocaine. He continued to ask how I was doing throughout the work. I get quite uncomfortable in dental situations, so Dr. Singh's exceptional patient service and awareness was really reassuring. Overall, the whole experience was efficient and painless. I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment, was seen within 5 minutes of arriving, and was out in under an hour (for two fillings). Also, his office is right on the AC Transit 7 and 18 bus routes, so it's super convenient to get there without a car! read more

As well, the technitians who clean your teeth are professional, warm and do a great job. Update: Dr. Singh missed several large cavities. When I asked him about it (after seeing another dentist), he said it was his policy to only tell patients about cavities once they had reached the dentin (i.e. the point at which they actually start aching). I do not agree with this policy and will not be going back. read more

Horrible experiance with service of Dr.Singh. He recommended a crown but his advise was golden one( which was late called "conservative" by three dentist ) After he made a crown August 2006 I was in pain and discomfort until end of 2007 I return to Dr. Singh 2 weeks later and he diagnosed root canal and reffered me to "his" specialist. I went to specialist that was covered by my insurance and it wasn't root canal. I had to see Dr. Singh again, he stated that only his specialist can help me and didn't find anything wrong with the crown.His specialist didn't find necessary to do root canal but said that could prevent pain. I decided to get one more opinion, and same diagnose no root canal go back to dentist that made the crown. By that time I was in constant pain, eating was difficult. Long story short I saw three more doctors and nobody would help me with explanation go to the doctor that did the crown. Finaly good friend of my recommended me to her Dentist that would help me. The issue was crown not well done and needed 5 more visits for adjustments and 6 weeks of strong antiinflammatory drugs. In mid time my unpaid balance of $300 (the all work was about $800) from Dr. Singh's office ended in collection, even I told Dr. Singh as long as my problem exist I am not paying the bill. Well done Dr. Singh, all this is about money you don't care how you patients are feeling. Your office never called to see if I am still in pain, but they did call to collect payment. He was dressed in black wool pants and sweater - leaving me wondering about cleanliness, since one doesn't launder wool after each wearing. I'm very surprised at some of the negative reviews I saw for Dr. Ricky Singh. I actually wonder if some of these were meant for a different office/dentist since they don't mention his name. I've gone to another dentist in this office for 40 years (!). A few months ago my dentist referred me to Dr. Singh for Invisalign, which I've wanted to do for years. I'm now a week away from being finished with the Invisalign and my teeth look great. A dentist in a different office was going to charge me $1,500 more for doing it. Dr. Singh is always pleasant and polite. He takes time to answer my questions. I'm a very particular person, so I am at a loss to explain the discrepancy between my experience and others who have reviewed him. read more
