Dr Young and his assistant Taala have cared for my dental health for over 20 years. They are always efficient, always pleasant, never any issues with any of the work. Dr. Young gives you his cell number just in case, but I have never had to call. They both make it easy to show up for what most of us would rather avoid. The receptionist/assistant was very, very rude. She did a shoddy job of polishing my teeth, half the time the roller brush did not even touch my teeth. I heard the roller hum but it did not even touched my teeth. Then comes the speedy flossing. She just moves the floss in and out. I told her that's not the way to do it. You have to move it in, to one side, then to the other side of the gum. I do a better job at home. She can't take criticism, she got so rude, she told me "....that I was terminated, and don't come back...". Dr. Young should have given her a lecture on how to treat his patients. read more

Dr. Young is a fantastic dentist! He takes the fear out of going, and when you go, he's the one cleaning your teeth himself, so he can observe any areas that may need extra attention. I hadn't been to the dentist in quite some time, and after going to another office (only because he didn't have appts. and I really felt the need), I appreciate even more how conscientious he is, and how he will never recommend unnecessary treatment (which is sadly not the case everywhere, as I've discovered. His staff, who does the fluoride treatments, is great too. Reliable dentistry is hard to find. I'm so glad I found him, and so is my friend I recommended as well! Five stars! read more

I am in my 50's, and Michael Young is by far the best dentist I've ever found. He is warm, brilliant, very reassuring and has the steadiest hands of any dentist. Dr. Young always asks if what he's doing is comfortable, and he always informs as to what it is he is doing and what proceedure he'll be doing next. could've been waaay better. i walked in as a new patient at 2:17 for a 2:20 appt and the receptionist greeted me with "Oh, you're early!" Office was filthy. Paper charts, and recycled at best. History/intake sheet on paper (need i say more) and appeared to be an ancient mimeograph. Didn't receive a dental exam, but the dentist did proceed to perform the cleaning (doesn't employ a hygienist)- he was not particularly skilled at this; awkward technique at best. I have scrupulous oral hygiene and missed my 6 month cleaning at my regular dental office due to COVID (am on front lines and we were in the middle of a surge) so needed to find an opening in a local office for routine maintenance. Will never go back and if you care about your mouth neither should you. Am disappointed in myself for not trusting my gut and walking out when i saw the old, dirty equipment. Had i not already received both COVID vaccine doses, i probably would have bolted. 2 stars because i did get a cleaning, even though it was unpleasant and perfunctory. read more

My friend who is also a dentist in the area, but who doesn't accept my insurance recommended him. I had a long list of several dentists in the area to choose from. He told me that Dr. Young is one of the best dentists in the area, and just as important, he is honest! He is gentle, reassuring, and told me what he was doing as he did it. He even called me a few weeks after my procedure to check in to see how things were going. I have a few crooked teeth, but he's the only dentist that I've ever met that didn't try to convince me to get braces. I'm glad that I've finally found a dentist that isn't trying to exploit me. He understood that I have a budget and he works with you by prioritizing things and by only doing what is absolutely necessary. Dr. Young is shockingly efficient. I've never gone into a dentist's office expecting to be out within the next 20 minutes, but that's invariably what happens. When part of an old filling of mine fell out one night without warning, Dr. Young had time for me to drop in the next day and told me that I had nothing to worry about, and I was out again within 5 minutes. He is friendly, competent and swift. I'm not sure what else one could ask for in a dentist. It's also a really small office, and they actually remember me every time I come in, which is neat. Most importantly, Dr. Young saved me thousands of dollars by telling me that I didn't actually need all of my wisdom teeth extracted, contrary to the advice of the last couple of doctors I'd seen. Dr. Young has been my dentist for over 10 years. He's always been highly competent and friendly. Several times I've broken/lost fillings and recently, a crown. He's always been able to see me the same day to do the repair work. Once, he even came in on a Saturday to sooth some tooth pain. There may be more expensive and fancier (nice views and fish in aquaria) options up in the hills, but I tend to keep my eyes closed when he's poking around. I have Kaiser insurance which Dr. Young is not a part of, so I pay out of pocket because the dentists in the area that are authorized by Kaiser are, according to my intro visits and their low ratings on Yelp, not very good at all. read more

Came to see Dr. Young after 4 embarrassing years of going with no dentist. When I came in i was expecting a lecture, and Dr. Young just focused on what we needed to do moving forward. Unfortunately for me this meant a 4 part deep clean, complete with novacane (eeeeekkkk). What I like about his appointments is that he offers early mornings (7:30), which fits into my schedule. I guess he is very popular. because you have to book him about 2 months in advance. Dr. Young and his assistant seem to offer a relaxed, no frills approach which can be soothing. Unfortunately my anxiety is so bad I probably should have had some laughing gas or taken a sedative, but Dr. Young checked in with me regularly to make sure I could handle things. i wasn't sure if it was kosher to ask for something like that (hey, I'm not a junkie- I just really really hate the dentist), so I went without. Another thing that was great was that I gave my insurance information before my appointment, so Dr. Young was able to look over my plan and discuss what was covered and what was not. He seemed to have a genuine regard for both my health and my budget. Review from Nov. 2011: I had a damaged tooth, wanted a second opinion on what to do about it, and went to see Dr. Young. I was already in pain, informed Dr. Young about it, and my extreme sensitivity. He tapped on it smilingly several times, as I squirmed in the chair with tears in my eyes, to "test" it until I finally told him to stop it or it seemed he would have continued. I hadn't been to the dentist in many, many years due to lack of dental insurance and I'll admit, I was anxious. Dr. Young and his assistant were both fantastic. They reassured me, didn't lecture me about anything, the cleaning itself was much less painful than cleanings I've had in the past (all about that water) and at no point did he try to push any extra services on me. My family has been using Dr. Young for the last 4 years. My husband and I like him because he is blunt and didn't bug my hubbie to get his crooked teeth straightened. My kids like him because he's gentle and very calm, and they get a toy when they are finished... Minus one star because he lists himself as a "family dentist", but doesn't do fillings on very young kids (4). He did refer me to someone who does. I called Dr. Young's with the most horrible toothache and not only he squeezed me in, but after finding out I had a broken nerve he scheduled an immediate appointment with a periodontist. When my tooth healed from the root canal I came back and he did an outstanding work with my crown. Also, he's a very nice and kind guy, so I strongly recommend him. At some particularly lean years, he helped out with some emergency dental work at an extremely reduced rate. I am forever grateful. This is the kind of business where you almost hate to write a good review. Please don't go to Dr. Young! He's MY dentist and I don't want him to be busier than he is. He is super efficient, doesn't try to sell me stuff I don't need, checks my teeth while he is cleaning them - and so FAST! Doesn't scold this old bag about flossing. (What good would it do at my age?) Isn't greedy and doesn't overbook, so I'm seen right on time for my appointment. His office is friendly and efficient also. The location is perfect for me. I was looking for Dr. Young's phone number online to reschedule an appointment, landed on this Yelp page and decided to write a review. I have to agree with the previous review that in addition to being a great dentist Dr. Young is extremely ethical. I have been seeing him for well over 10 years and he has always taken great care of me as a patient. When I did not have dental insurance in the past he charged me very reasonable rates and even what he bills to my insurance now is still very reasonable and my co-pay is very low because of that. He does not try to gouge people, he does not try to sell his patients every unnecessary dental treatment under the sun like a lot of dentists do. I really appreciate him. read more

Best dentist I've been to. My bridge came out over the weekend and based off a friends suggestion I called Dr Young. He was able to squeeze me in the DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING! He was very gentle and noticed my squinting from the sensitivity on my teeth and was very proactive to offer me a shot to ease the repairs. He overheard me telling his assistant about a previous dentist appt at another provider and how they tried to over charge and get me to get unnecessary work. He shook his head in disbelief because there are a lot of dentist that are dishonest and give the rest a bad wrap. I liked him so much that I will be returning for all my dental care. Good Dentist, actually seems great in knowledge and technical expertise.. but again am a lay man therefore am likely to find any Dentist knowledgeable in his field.. This I do know though.. I came out feeling like a dimwit.. That the dentist had very little patience for any questions I had,. seemed more interested in the woman who had brought me than in the owner of the tooth he was looking at. Dr. Young is a wonderful dentist. He is thorough, gentile, and communicative. Perhaps most importantly, he is trustworthy. I had been to another dentist who said I "needed" two fillings. When I went to Dr. Young, prepared to get the fillings, he said he couldn't justify doing them because it was a very small area of decay and the process would be too invasive. Good, established dentist that doesn't try to nickle and dime you. These are kind of rare these days. I actually stay away from any dentist with great marketing. These are usually the dentists that have a plan to extract as much money from you under the pretense of great dental treatment. Dr. Young is my regular dentist and he is really wonderful. He takes the time to inspect your insurance plans beforehand so he knows exactly what will be covered and exactly what will not. He is very honest and when my max had been reached for the year on my premium, he was nice enough to say the three fillings I would need could easily wait until my insurance started over for the next yearly cycle. He always checks on you to make sure you are not in pain and he is great at working you in quickly if you have an urgent issue. He is the best! read more
