Some other articles and reviews have already highlighted this place as part of the revamp of the O'Hare airport, and from my visit, the compliments are well-deserved and I would very much list this place as a go-to if you find yourself needing a meal at the airport. I had the Reuben, which was recommended by some other reviews, and the meat portion was hearty. The ordering was also straightforward, and if there was a surprise, it was that the line was actually shorter than the restaurants in the food court area. Oh, and for the price, it came out to about $13, which given the recent inflation isn't too different from the Subway by where I live. First time eating at O'Hare and this place didn't disappoint. I got the Reuben Sandwich and normally I would qualify things as pretty good "for airport food", but I would say this Reuben was good even if I got it at a normal restaurant or Cafe. The meats they use are freshly sliced in front of your eyes, the slices are generous and moist and juicy without being dry. The line moved pretty quickly even during busy times. Never thought I would leave a review for an airport food stop, but here it is. I needed breakfast (did you know United does not give complimentary snacks on their flights?!?!). Wow did they have it. Omelets, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, French toast, hash browns, yogurt, bagels, etc. and of course coffee, cappuccino, etc. And you can have your meal there or take your food to go. Worth walking a little further for. And food came out fast! P.S. They also have a bar with breakfast drinks (mimosas, morning mules, etc). GREAT holiday drinks! We had some time to kill on our Christmas Day traveling adventure, and of course I was suckered into their Christmas drinks, much to my husband's dismay. :) They were perfectly crafted, albeit a teensy bit expensive at about $15/drink. Seating was limited, and there were definitely people hovering, waiting for their first chance to pounce on an open spot. However, the high tops made it perfect for luggage to stow away perfectly, and thus I felt like sitting there forever! One of the few non food court options in the over crowded United wing at Ohare. The negatives: The noise level at capacity is nothing short of cacophony and not very conducive to conducting conference calls. The fact that you are unable to consolidate your food and bar tab is silly. The positives: At the rail seats, there are tons of power options for all of your electronic devices. The spicy bloody from the bar is a sipper, just the right amount of heat to prevent you from gulping it down too quickly. I ordered the chicken wrap and it served my 'Linner' purpose well and paired nicely with the spicy bloody. And your food will be ready when you're at the cashier to pay for your order. Their service is quick and friendly, but finding a seat may be difficult especially during the busiest hours. There is also a bar counter for those who may prefer to have some alcohol as well. Overall, I strongly recommend this place if you're in the mood for a tasty sandwich. It certainly is a very good place to eat comparing to many other similarly priced, but poorer in quality establishments at this airport. Had a 2 hour delay, and saw a pub like restaurant that caught my attention. Got in line around 6:30 and was about a 15 min wait from start to finish. Ordered the Reuben and they cut the corned beef fresh from a huge chunk. I was given a generous amount of corned beef and I was very grateful (I love meat). Place was super crowded, but luckily found a bar seat. Sandwich was fantastic. Thick cut corned beef sandwiched between two slices of Swiss. The thick cut corned beef made the sandwich and it had the perfect amount of saltiness. The rye bread wasn't as crunchy/toasty as I would've liked, but still very tasty. Perfect ratio of thousand island and sauerkraut. Definitely missing a pickle and some potato chips, but I'm to blame for that. Thank you Berghoff Cafe, I was very pleased. Absolutely abysmal customer service. I asked for a paper menu so my 97 year old father could look at it. He has difficulty walking. They said no. I explained clearly why I would like a paper menu. The man, a Hispanic, said take pictures of the menu for your daddy. Exact words. A 97 year old is not going to want to look at pictures on a phone. The ignorance of this response is beyond comprehension. Additionally the menu above the counter does not clearly describe what is in each sandwich. Had a late flight out of O'Hare, so I'm looking to grab some dinner once I get through security. Take a quick look around the restaurant and get in line. I really like Reubens, so I order one....sorry no sauerkraut. We can do corned beef though. Fine. Sure make it like a reuben. Anything else? Needed a quick bite between flights. Came here as it was close and had some good aromas... Had a Roast Beef Panini. It had a good amount of meat sliced just about perfect thickness... Rooted with melted ?mozzarella? Definitely a step up from a cold cut sandwich. The meat was a little dry... Could use some sauce or just some simple garlic mayo. I was so happy to find this cafe after seeing the lines for the typical chain coffee shops in the terminal were 20+ people long. Let me tell you, not only is this place less crowded it's definitely better in my opinion. They are hand-making every breakfast as you order, and they have sandwiches, omelets and wraps. I decided to go with a traditional breakfast sandwich on toast with sausage. The cheese was so perfectly melty and the eggs were scrambled just right. The bread also really surprised me and was very soft. I was also able to order my americano iced which I really appreciated. Granted, you won't be able to get a super fancy coffee drink, but my vanilla americano tasted great! They also have a ton of seating and a bar if you're looking for something stronger. Stopped by Berghoff when I was on a redeye layover back from Vegas so greasy breakfast food was very necessary. I opted for the breakfast wrap with bacon and a side of salsa. You have the option for sausage or bacon with the wrap, bagel, sandwich, or croissant. I love that unlike most airport breakfast joints, the eggs were freshly made to order and then wrapped up with the cheese and bacon. The wrap was tasty and the salsa was fresh. The service was quick and efficient. The workers were friendly enough in my opinion and quite skilled with the skillet. Would definitely recommend Berghoff if you're passing through O'Hare and around the C gates! read more

I took the Red Eye from San Francisco to Chicago O'Hare and upon arrival at O'Hare at 5:30 a.m., the ol' belly was feeling a bit neglected. After I deplaned the beautiful Boeing 787 9 Dreamliner and walked into the terminal, I was embraced by the luring aromatic scents of breakfast in the air that led me to the Berghoff Cafe which closed but soon to open. Needless to say, I was the first customer of the day and was greeted by Chef Ivan who made some recommendations of what to order but I already had my eye on the Western Omelette. I went to the Berghoff's bar to wait for Ivan to finish my omelette and was warmly greeted by the bartenderess Anne Marie who made the perfect and most welcomed Bloody Mary. The decor and atmosphere of the bar with its rich woods was very inviting much better than those food courts and their drab surroundings. I may plan another Red Eye to Chicago again and pay a visit to Ivan and Anne Marie. read more

Eating here really soured the beginning of my trip. I had a sauerkraut/bratwurst sandwich paired with some flat beer. How they got this sandwich to taste as awful as it did is beyond me. The sausage was rubbery and stale, the condiments fixed with some weird smell, and the bread basically forgettable. We also got two beers. One was completely undrinkable. Basically threw 3/4 of it out and the other tasted marginally better (mostly due to the other being as gross and flat as it was). So yea, $10 plastic beer experience that went straight into the trash. Will opt for mcdonalds over this or really anything else next time and every time. read more
