I've passed Ben's crab for many times. It's right next to the highway. So be careful when you drive into it from the back. The Cajun rice with shrimp was amazing for only 19 dollars. They gave me so much shrimp and rice that I almost couldn't finish. And I'm someone who eats a lot. The catfish basket was amazing. The fish was fresh, juicy and tender. The seasoning was on spot. Every corner of the crust had some Cajun seasoning on it. The crab spring roll was a little bit hit or miss. I won't recommend it. The shell was a bit hard. But it's alright. My friend had the gumbo soup. She said it's amazing. It smelled amazing and the serving was great for like 8 or 9 dollars. They were super friendly. The environment is clean, bright and friendly. It was busy but with a good amount of loudness so people don't need to shout across tables to hear each other. The restaurant was also super spacious. Great for group hangout. There's also a bar. They also offer a lot of wine on their menu. We had 2 people ordered about 60 dollars. 30 max per person. Totally would recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood and Cajun flavor. I also love they put lemons on drinks. There's plenty of parking space outside for free.
I haven't visited this location in a while. I was craving a seafood boil and I was in the area. I gave this experience 4 stars because there was a smell when I entered the restaurant. It smelled like a wet mop near the entrance. Maybe they were cleaning prior to opening but hopefully they can address that. I made it in time for happy hour. I ordered a lemon drop martini and catfish basket to start. The catfish basket was well prepared. The lemon drop martini was on the strong side but it was good. For my entree I ordered Combo B which consisted of a whole lobster, shrimp, potatoes and corn in the Ben's Special Cajun Blend sauce. The portion was a great amount and I was satisfied with my meal. Everything was delicious and the boil was well prepared. It was flavorful. Next time I won't get a whole lobster though because I had some difficulty cracking some of the shell. I'll do lobster tails instead. Overall I had a good experience and I left there satisfied. The team provided excellent customer service and they were very helpful and polite. I'll be back soon. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 2pm to 6pm.
My best friend wanted to treat me to a seafood birthday dinner after our great beach day on Long Island and he recommended Ben's Crab. He's a true seafood lover so I trust his judgment. I've actually never heard of this establishment until he mentioned it. They opened their first location (Oceanside, Long Island) in 2017 and apparently it was a hit! They have expanded in Long Island since then by opening two or three other locations (and even opened one in the Atlanta GA area). Because of Ben's Crab, cajun seafood became Long Island's hottest new restaurant trend. Drinks: We didn't order any since we had plenty of adult beverages at the beach earlier. We did get water though :-) Food: I must say I really enjoyed it. We each had the bbq honey garlic wings and fries combo as our appetizer. Could it have been the endless cocktails we had on the beach earlier that heightened the taste of the food? Possibly! I mean we were starving and craving for this food. Whatever the case, those wings and fries were tasty and we enjoyed. As far as entrees, I chose their Lobster Mac & Cheese and my buddy chose their Shrimp Cajun Pasta. We both really enjoyed our entrees (evident from our plates being empty). My Lobster Mac was well seasoned, flavorful and creamy. Yum! We also appreciated the fact that our food didn't take long to come to our table. There was a DJ on site playing some great R&B/Hip Hop tunes. The space is large enough to dance. The customer service was wonderful as well. I will definitely return to Ben's Crab in the near future.
Four years since my last review/experience with this establishment and it's still amazing! From the food, to the service and ambiance. This isn't a seafood boil that is oily, greasy and flavorless. This seafood boil packs a punch of flavors, it's so delicious and for the month of December they're offering buy 1, get 1 snow crab legs and king crab legs. That is AMAZING! Literally 2lbs of seafood for the price of one. I tried their pomegranate martini, highly recommend. It was a creeper. The peach lemonade with vodka is also very delicious, you'd think it's lemonade with no alcohol but it has plenty. Haha, thank you to my server who played magical tricks and really was a pleasure to be around, he was super nice, funny and helpful. Ben's crab thank you for another great experience after so long, happy you did not go downhill as an establishment. I will be back and it won't take so long!!
I've been to their other location in and the ambience, vibe and music was much better there. Came here for dinner around 5. It's a little confusing because a big sign says entrance in the back. But when you get to the back a sign says enter through another door. So we literally walked around the entire perimeter of the restaurant before entering. They have ample parking. We were greeted and sat right away. The place was clean and kind of gave diner/seafood shack vibes. Half the tables were empty. The server was nice enough but very pushy when trying to get our order. We kept asking for some time. We had already ordered drinks and apps. They have pictures on the menu so you can see what things look like. There was also things crossed off in marker on the menu. It was happy hour so most of the drinks as long as it didn't contain Hennessy was $9. I know times have changed when $9 is considered happy hour pricing. I got the pomegranate martini. It was excellent and authentically tasted like pomegranate. The martini glass it was served in was big and they filled it to the brim. My date got the blue Long Island. It tasted as it should. He also tried the pina colada. It was served in a Collins glass and that was unacceptable. It was tasty. All the appetizers come with fries and depending on how hungry you are, it could actually double as an entree. My date got the lemon pepper wing basket. The fries had Cajun seasoning, were hot and crispy. The lemon pepper wings were good as well. For entree he got the lobster Mac and cheese and I got the crawfish and shrimp boil. The Mac & cheese smelled good and it was topped with Parmesan Reggiano. Too much claw meat, and it was rubbery to me but he enjoyed it. The boil sauce was full of flavor. I got Ben's special sauce and requested spicy which is just one tier below their "fire". It wasn't hot at all so I guess I need to order fire to get some heat. You get 1lb of each shellfish, and three pieces of corn that could be one ear cut in 3 and three mini potatoes. Some of the crawfish was over cooked. But overall it was good and good portion. Could've gave 2 more potatoes. I didn't like that they automatically added gratuity for a party of 2. Especially since it didn't say that on the menu and that isn't standard. I would dine again.
The smell when you walk in is a little off putting but none the less, food is good in my opinion. Nice size place. Saturday afternoon place was empty. Service was great. Friday & Saturday nights are loud & crowded....very upbeat vibe. Music is old school RnB which is great in my book.
If I've said it once I've said it a million times, Bens just isn't it when it comes to seafood boils. Their seafood never taste marinated in the sauce and it always seems to be lacking. Now the pasta is good! Go there for that and the live music which can be overwhelming considering how small the space is but it's different and you'll like that.
The last 2 orders I placed to go for crab boils didn't meet my expectations. My orders both times, the crabs are overcooked and sticking to the shell. I've never experienced this when I stayed in the restaurant to eat. I was highly disappointed in the size of the corn they give now. They literally take and ear of corn and cut it up into 4-5 pieces. The corn used to look larger in size in the bag. My daughters boil this time as well, had half a cluster. For $45 - the bag should at least have 2 -2.5 clusters. All in all Im disappointed in the quality of the food be bringing it home and eating in the establishment. I don't think it's right. Ben's has always been my go to but now im not sure.
Super cute spot!!! Stopped by a friends House and we got hungry so we decided to look up some food and Ben's crab Louisiana Cajun style seafood popped up. We decided to stop by and check it out. The prices were decent a basket of fried shrimp with fries is $13. I decided to get a side of calamari as well fir $12. Since it is Covid we couldn't sit inside. But from the looks of it it looks like something that I would like to come back to. Definitely looks like a good vibe and the decor is similar to the beach. This is located by Hofstra university so do plan on seeing a lots of college students. Update.... I'm not happy with the chalky taste of the batter. The shrimp and calamari tasted fresh but the batter was not flavorful. It also felt like I was eating chalk. The fries had this powdered seasoning and that was necessary. Maybe trying out the steamed options might be best

I absolutely loved their spicy Cajun shrimp dish though. It was heavy but really flavorful. The lobster Mac and cheese was ehhh, probably wouldn't order again. They overdid it with the pepper. The servers were nice though.
Came here for a birthday, group of 4, and we had a wonderful time. The food 5/5, drinks 5/5, service 5/5. I was honestly impressed. Out of all of the seafood boils I've tried, this has the best flavors. We had: - fried calamari-so tender and flavorful - wings- regular, nothing too special - we all got a mixture of crab, shrimp, clam combo boils in the Ben's special sauce - amazing - drinks: hurricane, lychee martini, mango margarita - all very good Our waitress was a doll, she recommended items and steered us away from ordering random things we'd probably not enjoy. It was super busy, but she still offered attentive service. Everyone was happy. I can't wait to come back lol.
What I Will Say Is That The Food And Drinks Came Back Before I Could Blink My Eyes. I Haven't Been Feeling For Anything Besides Fish Lately So I Asked For The Large Shrimp Creamy Pasta And To Substitute The Shrimp For The Salmon Fillet. I thought I was going to get a fillet of salmon but I got salmon chucks. I think the Cook was trying to give the dish the same appearance as if it were shrimp. My Food was a 2 out of 5 stars wouldn't recommend. My drink was really great the bartender poured my drink in front of me at my table I enjoyed that! Oh And My Waiter He's Real Cool Shout Out To HIM!

This Ben's crab is the best! Their seafood boils are so flavorful and packed with seasoning. Their fries were crispy and the sauce on the side is also very tasty. We were seated very quickly and didn't have to wait too long for the food so the service was quick! I came here to eat dinner with my friends and it was spectacular, a great place to hang out and eat with friends. read more

I've been to several different boil in a bag spots. And Bens is still my favorite. Seafood is always fresh & the sauces have the best flavor in my opinion. Like the Oceanside spot but more room. They even have a downstairs. Clean bathrooms are always had here. Side note: They've even let me use the bathroom when I've been passing by while working. That gesture of kindness will always make me a loyal customer! I've been here a few time but seem to gravitate to the same combo. Expensive but delicious. King Crab, Head-On Shrimp with Sausage in Lemon Pepper & Garlic Butter Spicy sauce. Perfection! My only tweaks would be to have a lunch menu for a more affordable price & turn the music down. I came across Bens Crab because I received an invitation to come and receive 20% off my dine in order. The restaurants decor is very nice and clean. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the music was very loud like if you were in a club. The food was delicious and fast to come out from the kitchen. Ok long story short..... this is my new favorite restaurant!! I absolutely love seafood & this place hits the nail on the head! Great seafood variety, wonderful portions, comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff & a decent bar with a creative drink menu? What is there to not love?? I visited last night for my birthday dinner with my bff. We were greeted by at least 5 different staff members within the first 2 minutes on the door. The vibe of the restaurant was very relaxed & fun! Our appetizers came very quickly and we had drinks. I forget the name of the mojito I ordered but it was a house mix and came with lychee.... definitely different & yummy. The food was perfect, great flavor, great portion and you have to love the little bibs, gloves & bucket they give you for shells! I will definitely be back! read more
Super casual - as in seafood in the shell with corn and potato, boiled in a plastic bag with sauce; plastic gloves and bib for you, and a lot of hard work getting to the meat, since the tools provided left a lot to be desired. It's clean and bright with nautical inspired decor. A true crab shack which is kind of unusual in this part of the Island. Full bar was a surprising and welcome twist. The music was way too loud and more suited to an urban club. Private parking lot. If you're planning on ordering one of the mains or combos, prepare to get very messy. We were quite frustrated with the King Crab legs because the so-called cracker only squeezed the shells but didn't crack them open, and they don't have those tiny forks to help dig out all the crab meat. The lobster tails were easier to manage. The sauces (garlic butter and lemon pepper) were really good and medium spicy was plenty kickin'. Seafood was high quality. We ended up taking quite a bit home where we have better tools of the trade. I also had the Kobe sliders and these were excellent with some secret sauce and Bibb lettuce. I would skip the tomato slice though. Get 'em done medium. Service was very friendly and pretty attentive though it seemed like they had an excess number of servers on hand. 3.5 stars rounding up. read more

I had a friend from out of town visiting so I called another mutual friend of ours to come out and they suggested this place. This was the 1st time for all of us. Its located pretty much in the middle of Hofstra University. The parking lot was packed and we found street parking nearby. My friend and I waited at the bar for our others friends to arrive. We ordered beers, one on tap called Abita, which was not bad and I hit a Guiness in a bottle. The bartender, Staci, "with an i" took our orders. She is very friendly and slender sexy tall, and with a friendly attitude. She may seem overwhelmed but she handles the drink steady and does not forget her customers orders. Our other friends finally arrived and we asked for a table. I ordered a shrimp basket for the bar at that time. The table was supposedly ready and we were paying our bar tab. By the time we finished, looks like our table was gone. Oops! The manager saw our disappointment and he said he will call us when another table opens up. We went back to the bar and he came to get us in 5 mins. We sat at a communal table that had plenty of room for both parties seated. It took Andrew mins for our waitress to come. She was very nice. You noticed I gave them a 3 star? It was not for the food nor for the friendliness of the staff. They both were excellent. The staff, I mean all of them seem to try to please their customers. The shrimp basket I had ordered 20 mins ago, we were still waiting for it. Our waitress went to check, it took another 10 mins for it to arrive. The music is so loud, we could barely hear ourselves talking. The place was pumping. We ordered more drinks and ordered the crabcakes sliders which were quite good. We also got some breaded catfish, chicken fingers, and the lobster mac and cheese. The mac was pretty loaded with lobster and it was a good sized portion! If you have patients and like to dance in your seat while eating good comfort food, this is the place to go. Yes I would come back. Even as we were leaving, almost the entire staff said goodbye to us in a very friendly manner. The calories will be busting out since its seafood and lots of fried foods. It was all fresh read more

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner and was more than satisified. Oysters were fresh and the seafood boils were very flavorful. The servers were very friendly, constantly checking on us and even offered complimentary shots. They def know how to keep customers happy. Will come back for sure! read more

On our way back from Tanger Outlets at Deer Park and stumbled on this gem. The space is well lit, decorated well and we got appetizers to share. There's plenty to chose from fried combo baskets, boils, and classic favorites. My favorite is the soft shell crab basket with the Cajun fries. Everything was good. The gumbo isn't classic gumbo and they should add to the menu that there is okra in the dish. Overall really good service and quick. I would even use this as catering space for a party of 50. Cute! read more
