Paige and Bud came through for us very last minute and extremely quickly! We had run out of gas on our way from Kona to Hilo. We had some other trouble with another car we had at the Hilo side and Paige, being a great problem solver figured out how to get us the car in Hilo, while also sending someone out to give us enough gas to get a to station. We are making the transition out here to Hawaii from California and it has been extremely stressful and challenging. I am so grateful for Paige and Bud and their kindness. I called AAA when my car broke down at KTA. They sent Benny's. I thought it would take them forever to get to me, because Benny's is based hours away from Hilo. But they called me right away to tell me it would be an hour, because they have remote drivers all over the island. The young man driver called when he was near, found us easily. He was courteous, clean, efficient, and quickly towed our car and put it exactly where it needed to be. It was much faster and smoother than I ever expected ANY tow to go! Worst service I have ever received! I am disappointed that they are affiliated with AAA. Benny's came down to my place in Kehena & started my battery. James told me I needed a new one but that they didn't have that type of battery. They recommended that I go to Napa Auto Parts in Hilo. I went there to buy the battery but they don't install batteries. I called Benny's back & said that they could come over to install the battery for $45. When I presented my credit card, James called Justine & she said that they could only accept cash. James followed me to the bank to get the cash. That's strange because their website says they accept credit cards. Sounds like something shady is going on with those two. A month later, the car wouldn't start, again. Had to call AAA back & Benny's came back to Kehena to start my battery. Del tested the battery & said it was no good. I couldn't get a refund from Napa Auto Parts initially because they wouldn't test the battery until it was out of the car, for some reason. I called Benny's and asked them to come to the parking lot at Napa, so that they could remove the old battery, but I was told that they wouldn't do that because I didn't purchase the battery from them. I couldn't do that because they didn't carry the battery that I needed. So,I purchased a new battery at O'Reilly's, had it installed at a 76 gas station and then went back to Napa Auto Parts. They ran a test on the old battery and told me it was absolutely fine. They would not refund me any money and I was stuck with the battery I had purchased in August and a new one that I bought ONLY because Benny's told me that the initial battery was no good. This is lousy service from the only AAA connection here on the east side of the Big Island. The AAA in Kona is MUCH better. My next move is to call AAA and report this to them. read more

Vendor was sent to me by my insurance company, StateFarm. Spoke to "Kevin" at 9:31 am. Was told that they would have a driver to respond by 4 pm. No show no call. They did not pick up when I called or when State Farm called. It is now 4;30 pm and StateFarm is trying to find another vendor. Poor service and unfortunately, they need lessons on how to use a telephone. Advised State Farm that they need to find a more reliable company with employees that know they function of a phone. read more

Very rude!!! I ordered a tow through my insurance. Once I got the contact info, I wanted to speak with the tow truck company to confirm that the insurance people got the info right. No answer. That's ok, they're probably busy. ETA says 90mins. I waited 30 mins before I called again to just be able to speak to a person to confirm details. Someone answered but I had to listen to like 5 mins worth of chitchat until someone said "Hello". Then I introduced myself. Guy says "which insurance?" I answered the name. Then he replies "i told them ETA was 2 hours!" And hangs up. Like seriously? I understand the miscommunication with my insurance but you folks are a service industry, servicing stressed out people and that's the attitude you give customers? I wasn't even angry about the ETA, just the rude behavior. I immediately canceled them through my insurance and ordered someone else who arrived in 30 mins with the absolute best attitude a tow company, or a service personnel can ever have. Traveling with a friend. Broke down on saddle rd. 20 mile marker. Her insurance sent Benny's towing Was supposed to be there in an hour to 1-1/2. We Called after 1-1/2 hrs, were told 30 min. Nobody came even after an additional 2 hrs. Benny's wouldn't answer the phone by this time. Took the insurance company 1/2 hr to contact them only to be told they were having vehicle problems, were busy, and were't even coming. WTF Benny's, just communicate! My truck got a flat tire tonight and contacted Bennie's for help. The dispatcher answered right away and the driver showed up within 45min as advised. Super fast service considering the time if night! The driver (sorry thst I forgot to ask his name) was very quick with changing out my tire and was very professional. Because i had been waiting with my hazards on for quite a while (due to my insurance company, State Farm, being unresponsive for nearly an hour!) my truck then needed a jump, something I didnt mention in the phone call as it happened after the call was made. The driver happily helped with the added problem. I now know that Bennies will be my first call if this ever happens again! read more

on Fourth of July weekend Benny's towing company left me on the side of the road from 5 PM and said they were going to show up at 10:30 and decided not to come ever I slept in my car on the side of the road cause Benny's canceled. I finally got picked up at 11 AM the next day by kau towing. So just push your car home because your work faster than Benny's read more

We accidentally locked the keys in our rental car. I called nine different places -they either did not respond, said they don't have anybody available or wouldn't be able to help- until the last place I called told me to try Benny's Mobile Service. The service was fantastic! They picked up the phone immediately and were really nice. The person told me he would tell one of his drivers to give me a call, which he did within two minutes. He was so nice and he arrived within five minutes. I was able to get back into my car in no time. He was even super patient while my husband went to an ATM to get some cash to pay for the service. I had my 2004 Nissan Sentra towed to the dealer to replace my alternator. I called AAA and they only use Benny's towing. The guy arrived late. I had this guy before and when I called him 5 months ago for a tow, he was several hours late. Unfortunately, I don't know his name but he's kind of a bigger guy, has arm tats and often wears white sunglasses. He seems nice enough but being constantly late, bringing your girlfriend/wife/whoever she was, and driving really fast made the whole experience awkward, unsafe and uncomfortable for me. Worst service I have ever received! (Second time)I am disappointed that they are affiliated with AAA. I have never received not only poor service but also unprofessional service. I placed a call to AAA at 8:50 am that I needed a tow to Big Island Toyota. I requested to get a tow from a different company but my request wasn't taken serious and I paid for it. At 11:15 am I received a text message that the dispatch was on their way and should arrive approximately at 12:30 pm. The arrival time changed multiple time and I was on the phone with AAA each time it was 30 mins past the arrival time. I told them multiple times that I have an appointment at 2:20pm. It was now 1:30 and I called and got a new estimate of 2:30pm. I then finally got the call from "Benny's" employee and first a lady told me they are on their way and I told her they were suppose to be there at original time of 12:30ish pm and she didn't apologize or anything other than telling me she had other calls that I fact came after my call and they will get to me when they can. Not only is that unprofessional it is not how AAA told me things should run. AAA told me once you get a text of an "approximate arrival time" you are now the first priority and if other call come in they are to do them after as in the order they were received. After this I received another call from the man from Benny's letting me know where they are. When they got here I realized there was two people in the truck. I was not notified at anytime there was two people coming to pick me up. They are a couple and made me extremely uncomfortable. She was dressed as if she just rolled out bed in short shorts that were a little to small for her and a dirty tee shirt. This was just a very uncomfortable ride and it was extremely unprofessional I would NOT recommend Benny's to anyone request a different towing company if going with AAA. read more

Dylan towed my vehicle Fri eve to their Hilo location until I received confirmation from an auto body place. Turns out no auto body places open during the weekend. So I arranged with Justine to have my car stay there til I found a place on Monday. No luck except for 1 place but parts would take time and they didn't have the space. So I decided to have it towed to my home and spoke to Justine. I'd take photos of the damage and send it to the willing auto body place. This time it was Isaiah who towed my car. Both Dylan and Isaiah were kind, professional, timely and compassionate toward my situation. In December my ballpoint on my truck broke,the truck was in the road, in movable. Called AAA & Benny's driver showed up w/in 15 minutes. He got the truck to my house but upon unloading I suggested putting blocks under the axle. He disagreed & while dropping vehicle the axle punctured the tire. Originally owner Kevin Benevides agreed to reimburse me for the tire. Then it became 1/2 off. $126 he still owes me. I have called, emailEd him @ least 5 times & still no response 6 months later. He claims to be a reliable businessman, but this is obviously not so. read more

I writing to express my extreme appreciation of an excellent person & exceptional employee: Larry Carvalho !!! I had to call AAA Hawai'i last night due to the radiator overheating in my Jeep Wrangler :( Honestly, for several reasons, I wasn't very impressed with the service of AAA Hawai'i -- but Larry of Benny's Towing Hilo & Kona is AMAZING! Even though the Airhead @ AAA provided incorrect location information to Dispatch @ Benny's Towing (!) -- Larry arrived 30-minutes Earlier than AAA's estimate! Larry was professional AND friendly + very knowledgeable and very efficient! He obviously has high personal integrity with much professional pride in his work and a very high work ethic. Larry safely & quickly loaded up my Jeep in Kailua-Kona (!) & within minutes of his early arrival (!) we were on our way to meet my husband at the repair shop in Kealakekua! Where to leave my Jeep was challenging but as Larry is obviously a natural problem solver & very resourceful (!) that issue was resolved quickly! Had to have my car towed and called AAA. They sent Benny's to pick up the car at my home. The first driver, Dave, called to let me know that he was tied up in traffic and didn't want me to have to wait, so they were sending another tow truck driven by Johnny. A few minutes later I got a call from Johnny, letting me know he would be at my house in 30 minutes. He showed up on time and was extremely courteous, helpful, and kept his mask on the entire time he was at my house, even though it was really hot and he was outside. My impression: Both drivers are to be commended for being courteous and keeping my appraised of their location and ETA to my house. Could not be more pleased. Worst experience I've ever had from ANY business in Hawaii. Not kidding. Accidentally locked my keys in my car with a bunch of groceries inside of it (I'ce cream melting!!) After contemplating breaking a window I decided I better get some professionals involved. That's when I found Benny's on a Google search. At 8:29pm I called and they answered quickly which I thought was a good sign. Dispatcher said he would have his driver call me within five minutes and 10 minutes later I received a call. I thought we were off to a great start! The driver promised he would be there in 20 minutes. I said awesome thanks so much and see you then! 17 Minutes later I went out to the street just to make sure he could find me easily as it was a dark night. After 35 minutes I decided to send a text just to ask if he was nearby... Neither that nor any of the 20 texts and six calls I made to him nor the company phone number (for 2 hours) was answered. Ultimately I got stood up by Benny's Towing! Can you believe? A company that specializes in helping people out of tough/emergency situations just leaves them hanging? Appalled.NEVER AGAIN. Hilo Locksmith came out and for almost half the price! Call them instead. Oh and the ice cream didn't make it. :( read more

Driving from Kona to Waikaloa with my family in traffic going the speed limit and generally being respectful. Had a truck tailgating me with his brights on, moved over and waved to pass. Brights went off and the truck backed way off for several miles. Come to the next stop light, the truck staggers behind me very close to my bumper brights in my drivers mirrors. When I took off and got over to turn left, I see Benny's tow truck pass. What a great way to act, big truck, bigger ego, likely small manhood. Don't use this guy. read more

This worst towing company I ever dealt with. A long wait and a rude owner/ manager that left us completely unawares if what time we would picked up. The jerk called me a Liar and " trying to be a Hero" for asking what time he was coming to pick us up. He's the liar. He lied about the three different pick up times... had a huge group of my family lingering waiting for those said time and was unapologetic and didn't bother calling to tell us that we were going to be waiting longer. Been to Hawaii many times this guy definitely did not have the Aloha spirit or integrity like many of the Hawaiians that I have met. Sorry I would avoid his services at all cost the only reason I agreed to continue was because AAA only used him which he bragged about and which I'm going to contact and. Provider never called for 2.25 hours and then I got an update from the insurance provider: "The provider can no longer complete your job. We're sorry!" My insurance company contracted them after I called roadside assistance. They never showed up to my house for a simple jumpstart and never contacted me to tell me they weren't coming. Apparently I was calling and texting the driver long after they had cancelled the call, but nobody got back to me. Hours after the original 45-minute ETA, I finally called the office and they told me our gravel road in Puna was "beating up their tow truck." The gravel road I drive on everyday in my little car was too much for their big tow trucks. Sooo unless you need a tow in the middle of the Costco parking lot or on a paved shoulder by the main highway, don't call these guys. Apparently they're driving glass tow trucks. You can tell from my voice on the phone, I'm not from here. Wondering if it had something to do with that, because I was perfectly polite and friendly with them. Didn't do anything to invite hostility or bad service--and I know any tow truck could more than handle our gravel road. read more

Absolutely horrendous service. My 2 hr ETA for towing became 6 hours. I had to follow up with them to ask what was happening, no courtesy call to tell me they were backed up. Whoever towed my car didn't give me notice that the car made it to the repair facility, again I had to call after to find out that it made it to the repair shop. Also, the worker didn't even tell the repair shop that my car was there! He just dropped it off and left! Super unprofessional from start to finish. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
