Went to Benihana's today with my belated Birthday Gift Card, and got my lunch of Chicken and Fried Rice. The service was exceptional, with the help of Andrew at the Take-Out section. He helped me with the menu and was incredibly patient and polite. The Ambiance was rather quiet. The food was Delicious with great flavor. read more

I came here to try their new lunch special, and honestly, the lunch special itself is 100% worth the money. You get a full meal for only $15, which I think is a really good deal, especially if you're looking for something affordable but still want to sit down and actually enjoy a meal and get the authentic hibachi experience where they make the food in front of you. Another thing I really appreciated was how quickly everything moved. I was in and out within an hour, which is perfect for me because I can come here during my lunch break, have an enjoyable meal, and still get back to work without feeling rushed. The food was good, and for $15, getting a full meal in that amount of time is definitely something I would take advantage of again. I think the lunch special is a great option for anyone who works nearby or just wants a reasonably priced meal without spending a ton of time at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the service during my visit was where things really fell short. Our waitress seemed a little moody from the beginning, and after taking our initial drink orders, she basically disappeared. She didn't really come back to check on us or see if we needed anything throughout the meal. What made it even more frustrating was that she didn't even bring the drinks herself, and one of the beverages I ordered never came at all. I wasn't able to flag our waitress down until it was time to pay to tell her that I had never received my drink, so I had to wait until we were trying to pay to get it addressed. It ended up taking another 20 minutes just to get the drink taken off my bill. That was incredibly frustrating because the whole point of the lunch special, for me, was being able to have a quick and enjoyable meal during my lunch break. Having to spend an additional 20 minutes at the end just trying to get something I never received removed from the bill completely defeated the purpose of the quick experience. The most frustrating part was that the waitress seemed to only come back around once it was time to pay. It honestly felt like she was mainly checking on us at that point because she was hoping to get a good tip, which was pretty ridiculous considering that was only the second time we had actually seen her since being seated. I'm always happy to tip for good service, but I also think the service should reflect the tip you're expecting. If you barely check on your table throughout the entire meal and then only come around when it's time to pay, it doesn't leave a great impression. read more

Today was my sister's birthday and she decided to have her birthday at Benihana's as we have before many times. We were a party of six and had a couple sitting with us. Everything started off great and just went down hill. The waiter was very nice and friendly but wasn't the greatest due to him forgetting a lot of things and not adding on a Togo meal for my fiance but I still loved his service. The couple sitting next to us started off friendly and then got aggressive when talking to my dad about football. He isn't a raiders fan and the woman didn't like that at all. She ended up calling my dad a b***h and storming off. From there the entire energy of benihana switched. The manager Cliff saw some of the situation happen and when we were explaining to him what he didn't see, we were cool, calm and collected. Truthfully, I feel like he didn't really care. Then they had someone come over and take a picture for her birthday when genuinely I wish they didn't. The girl taking the photo DID NOT CARE at all she one of my sister and I had to get in the frame but then was rushing to take the picture before we could even look up. She's trying to take it and we kept telling her can we just get one sec just one to get in frame. She took the worst picture ever blurry and everything. We didn't even ask for it she clearly didn't want to do it, I wish she didn't. I'm so heartbroken over what happened today because we all agreed we shouldn't go back the way we were treated was not okay at all. Everyone assumes the black people cause drama this and that but we were just celebrating my sister enjoying the day and had all this negative energy given to us. I'm sad we didn't choose to go somewhere else so my sister didn't have to deal with all of that. If the situation happened to another race I wonder how they would have conducted themselves. Disappointed isn't even close to how we feel. I hope other families are treated better when they come in to celebrate or just eat. Tracy is still a top tier employee though :) read more

Walked in solo around 730PM, Hibachi tables were busy but the manager Clif still offered to accommodate me- I opted for the bar and am glad I did... I got to watch some MNF and Max the bartender was great! There was ample seating and a small family, in good spirits, celebrating their son's birthday next to me. My cocktail was exactly what I needed to wash the work day away, my food came out hot & delicious, and my ice cream didn't stand a chance. Overall a great experience :) read more

We've gone here twice in the last 5 years with our most recent visit being on a Saturday with a reservation at 5:45pm. We were seated right away and in one of the back rooms which was nice in terms of it being a bit more quiet. Our chef, Raphael, was probably the best chef we've ever had at Benihana (this location & others), everything was cooked great! They changed their menu and prices definitely increased from when we went for my birthday in 2024 compared to my friend's birthday this year. We all got the 5-course meal, 2 with the filet, one with the teriyaki chicken, and the other hibachi steak, we also all got fried rice but 2 for it with Diablo sauce which they rave about (when in restaurant & outside of). read more

Some of the worst service I've experienced at a restaurant. We had a 7 PM reservation, weren't seated until 7:45, and then waited almost another hour for the cooking to start. Our server, Anise, was incredibly inattentive. She never checked on us, never offered refills, disappeared throughout dinner, and forgot my steamed rice. What upset me most was that when she finally returned, she checked on the other guests at our table while completely ignoring us. When I told her I was unhappy with the service, her only response was "OK." No apology, no attempt to fix anything, and absolutely no concern. I paid around $70 after upgrading to Wagyu, which was a very small and disappointing portion. For that price, receiving this level of service is unacceptable. I left feeling completely ignored as a customer. I would not return. read more

Very disappointed with our experience. Despite having a reservation, we waited 20 minutes to be seated and another hour and a half before the hibachi cooking even began. The chef then took about an hour to prepare our table's meal, while guests who were seated after us were served first. The portions were so much smaller than they used to be, and the $9 upcharge for fried rice felt excessive. My fiancé ordered the complimentary white rice instead, but never was served it. We paid $120 for two hibachi chicken dinners but the overall experience and service was not worth the price. read more

Pretty standard hibachi restaurant with good times and good food. This must be the new Chuck E. Cheese as we even went on a Monday night to celebrate my nephew's birthday and just about every other table was a birthday celebration as well. Most table and grill areas were filled with kids for birthday celebrations. That being said, it was pretty chaotic inside with kids running around and food all over the floor and loud (to be expected). Our chef was super fun and I think that's one really unique thing about hibachi restaurants as each of them have their own personality and tricks. He was so great with our family and my nephew and we had a lot of fun. The food was just as good as any other one that I've been to and a good portion. read more

I eat hibachi at least twice a month, so I know exactly what the experience is supposed to be. I finally decided to try Benihana. What a colossal mistake. For nearly $50, I got rice, chicken, and zucchini that tasted like the seasoning called in sick. I've accidentally made better food when I forgot to follow the recipe. I came expecting fire, knife tricks, jokes, and an experience. Instead, I watched someone cook with all the enthusiasm of a DMV employee working overtime. The onion volcano apparently filed for unemployment. Then came the highlight of the evening--and not in a good way. A family of ten was trying to take a picture together. Instead of doing the decent thing and offering to take the photo, a staff member actually yelled at the woman for trying to get a picture of her family. Nothing says "hospitality" quite like embarrassing your paying customers. So I got up, took her phone, and took five family pictures for them because apparently the only person working customer service that night was another customer. Let's recap what my $50 bought me: * Rice with an identity crisis. * Chicken that had never met a spice rack. * Zucchini that somehow tasted tired. * Zero entertainment. * Front-row seats to staff treating guests like an inconvenience. * An unpaid part-time job as the restaurant photographer. The most memorable part of Benihana was that I ended up providing better customer service than the people collecting my money. Calling this a "hibachi experience" is generous. It was overpriced cafeteria food with a side of attitude. I would've gotten more entertainment by putting my $50 through a paper shredder and watching the confetti fall. At least that would've been worth taking a picture of. I won't be back, and I genuinely can't recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for great hibachi, keep driving. If you're looking to spend $50 wondering where it all went wrong, you've found the place. read more

I have been to Benihana a bunch of times and generally like the food. I get a ton of emails from them so I decided to try their happy hour. I have to say it was disappointing. The service was excellent, so that was nice. Ordered a bunch of things. Veggie spring rolls ($3) - not horrible but not good, Pot Stickers ($6) - ok but small and not a great deal, tempura shrimp ($9) - 4 very small shrimp bad deal, chicken wings ($9) - ok, Shrimp roll ($) - good deal but roll was mid, snack sized rolls $4 - got spicey tuna and california which were ok, chicken fried rice ($6) - good and ok value, chicken satay ($?) - 3 pieces seem to remember it being a decent value and 1 peach sake drink ($6) - very good. Spent around $75 with tip. Won't go back, read more

We were in the area celebrating my sister in laws graduation. And my neice picked Benihana for her birthday. The location was easy to find on gps. There is a big Target in the lot.But the parking lot area looked a bit sketchy and I'm glad we were in a big group. We arrived early for our reservations and decided on a few cocktails. This was a separate area with a bar and sushi section. They also had a few mocktail options as well. We ordered cosmopolitan and espresso martini and speciality mocktails. The bartender was friendly and answered our questions about the drinks. He even offered suggestions. The drinks were plenty strong. As soon as our party arrived we sat as a party of eight. Everyone ordered from hibachi option. Our chef was entertaining and even made my mom laugh with his corny jokes. He made sure to highlight the birthday girl all night and I know she loved that! I don't remember his name but we called him Mr. Guapo all night. All and all great experience in not sure if I'd be back unless it was for a celebration. read more

I have to give a shout out to JC, the manager. A few months ago I called to share my experience with my pickup order. I was upset about an issue, and he said he would take care of me next time. Well when I placed my order today for pickup, I didn't think he would remember what he said. He had been over three months. Well I was pleasantly surprised. He did in fact 'take care of me' and comped my order. Talk about customer service. On top of that the food was amazing. Thank you, JC! read more

I was dredding to come back from bad experience from last month with burnt food and exorbitant price over but still had $40 gift card that I didnt want to throw away. Happy hour all day at the lounge triggered and here I am. Hoping for the better dining experience. When I walked in at 5 30 pm, it was mostly empty at the lounge. No one was around to greet. You just sit anywhere. Very disorganized and looked dirty. Dirty tables, floors and boxes here and there. See pics. Our waiter was definitely new to this business. He was nice but way he handled things, definitely a newbie Ordered few things. Yes, it's HH menu pricing. Sake was $9 instead of $16. I had a choice of ordering from the HH menu or from the regular ones. While waiting for the food, I can see the bartender fixing an old fashioned drink. She grabs large cube of ice, bare handed. Not once, but twice in a row. How gross! This place definitely needs better management, shaking up things from cleaner restaurant, better food prep and better training. Due to the food taking way too long, manager comped us for the roll and the burger. Ended up paying with a credit card and now I still have $40 gift card. Yikes. Do I need to go back for another dreaded dinner at this lousy place or just throw away the gift card? read more

I've been to Benihana many times over the years (in Texas and now Denver), and this last visit was by far the most fun I've ever had. Our hibachi chef, Shainye, was incredible -- funny, engaging, and kept the whole table laughing the entire meal. On top of that, the food was delicious. Honestly, she deserves a raise! The only hiccup was our server, who disappeared for quite a while and walked off when we were trying to order drinks. Luckily, Shainye more than made up for it with her energy and hospitality. Overall, such a great experience. I'll definitely be back, and I'll be asking for Shainye by name! read more

5 of us went there today. We ordered our beverages, including alcohol. When the lady came to take our order I inquired about the $15.95 lunch special. We were informed that it was too late to order since we had ordered drinks. What?? Since we were treating everyone, we didn't want to create an issue so we just went ahead and ordered the $30.00 lunches and later additional alcohol drinks along with tea. I just hate a Bait and Switch circumstance. This certainly felt like that. It was entertaining, as always - and the food is always the same - my first bite of steak was inedible - but the rest was ok. It's just the bogus special that just is infuriating! If you don't want people to order your specials, then don't advertise them!! I always enjoy a visit to Benihana and this location was no exception. Compared to locations I've visited in Texas, this location was cleaner, friendlier, and far more organized. The service was top notch - drinks were refilled constantly. Chabelo put on a really great show for us! He knows his tricks well, saw a few new things I hadn't seen at Benihana before. The right balance of humor you hope for in this kind of setting. Really enjoyed my Surf Side platter and the different seafoods available. Absolutely horrifying experience at Benihana yesterday we came in for my younger brothers birthday and two of the young adults we had at the table took advantage of the coupon they handed out at the beginning of the meal which states "enjoy a complementary appetizer when you sign up " as well as online when you sign up the link says "instantly enjoy a free appetizer" we even asked our waiter Evan which appetizers counted towards it because they had a summer appetizer and he told us it was just the ones on the menu, so each of them who were paying for themselves got themselves a little thing of gyoza. At the end of the check the server and a manager came out and tried to gaslight and bully these two young people into saying that there was no was they were going to get it complementary that time and that they obviously should have understood that you can only use the coupon the next time you come in. The managers main strategy was to make these two girls feel stupid and dumb for something they double checked, so obviously I stepped in because I'm an adult and would not let him speak to them this way. I said very politely he was using an abusive tone and needed to end the conversation and walk away and he then proceeded to yell at and attempt to degrade and humiliate me! Absolutely horrifying this man tried to make me feel like I was crazy for not letting him bully my younger sister and sister in law!! What the hell Benihana absolutely ruined an experience and made it such a sour end to a great birthday for my younger brother, both girls are under 19 mind you!! Oh my goodness! My sister in law cried apologizing thinking it was her fault! so his horrible manipulation worked on her I spent twenty minutes after reassuring her that no one should talk to anyone that way even if we are misunderstanding. Horrible horrible horrible ruined the meal and I've never been treated that way in my whole life! I have screenshots and images of the coupons and wording as well because I'm scared someone else will try and make us feel crazy or stupid for this!! This is horrible Benihana fix this! you should never have a manager on staff that treats people this way at work or not at work!!! read more

The neighborhood that it is in has gone down hill. We had reservations for 6:30 but didn't get seated for almost an hour after that. I do like the family style seating and we had two other couples at our table that were really nice. The chef was fun and we love the style of cooking, we brought our kids for their birthday but with food price increases the quality and amount of food was not worth the $300 bill. This place was always fun and exciting to take a date too or meet friends when you were younger but I think I have aged out of the target market. We have been eating at Benihana since they opened at the Tamarac location. The last time we had eaten there was before the covid madness, until today... Every time we have dined at Benihana was outstanding, until today... The food has always been fresh and delicious, until today... My spouse and I dined here today to celebrate our multi-decade wedding anniversary because it has always been a wonderful experience, until today... We sat in the lounge area--and if the menu prices were cheaper in the lounge area, to accommodate the lack of quality, I wouldn't be writing this review, but here I am. I think most would agree that there are pre-covid and post-covid experiences; while it makes no sense, it's just how things are now. The food was sub-par. I ordered the Benihana Delight and chicken fried rice. The shrimp and vegetables were delicious, but the chicken breast was overcooked and dried out; literally browned and crunchy on the outside--it was inedible. Considering this entrée is $53, every part of the meal should be perfect! My spouse ordered the steak and chicken and the chicken was nothing like mine--it was on the dry side, but much more tender. It boggles the mind that mine was dried out and literally inedible! The fried rice ($8.50) was mushy and gummy; nothing like it used to be, at all. No vegetables or egg--just mushy, gummy rice and chicken. The only thing good about it was the chicken in the fried rice, which was very tender and good (unlike the chicken in my entrée). The sauces and salad dressing are still exactly as I remembered them--that is to say--delicious! I guess Benihana is another 'covid casualty'. For some reason, businesses seem to think they don't need to provide good products or service anymore. For me, Benihana has been removed from the special occasion roster... This is NO LONGER GREAT Hibachi and it makes me quite sad! read more

We had an earlier reservation, ended up sitting with another nice family at the table, and had a good time watching the chef parade the food up and down the grill with his many tricks. The menu is lengthy with many add on's so pay attention to what you're ordering as we got hit with additional fees for items we thought were included. Our family has a new birthday tradition - whoever's birthday it is, gets to pick the restaurant to celebrate as a group! With my husband's birthday 2 days before mine (and 5 years.) we tend to celebrate together, and this year was no exception! With hibachi on the brain and 8 of in tow, we made our way to Benihana - the OG hibachi joint - to celebrate turning another year older, wiser, and hungrier, apparently! Ha! SPACE: Broken into two rooms, the dining room and hibachi room, the space is large! We were obviously there for hibachi, so we made our way to the left once we entered and seated at a spacious yet intimate table providing just the right amount of seating for our group. SIPS: the menu is massive, offering everything from fresh brewed tea and soda to their extensive offerings at the bar. Being a bubbles girl, I opted for a bottle of San Pellegrino while others sipped on soda's and beers on tap. SERVICE + SUSTENANCE: This is where Benihana truly shines. While the menu offers other house made dishes, hibachi is what they are known for, so we all chose the 5-course hibachi meal.and a show! Our chef proudly introduced himself, had us laughing and mesmerized by his talents the entire evening - in between eating courses of the most perfectly cooked rice, shrimp, steak and more! Portions are massive, so come hungry - or prepared to take home to-go boxes like us! All of us enjoyed the hibachi experience and had the best evening! SPECIALS: Lunch is offered at a lower price than dinner, but let's face it. Hibachi is an experience and worthy of the $50/per person price tag. Come here! PRO TIP: Make reservations online or simply call the restaurant itself. These types of celebrations are their bread and butter, so if you are seeking a true hibachi experience, plan, because walking in and expecting a seat, it's really an option. read more

I used to enjoy this place, but after today's experience, I can no longer recommend it. We were wrongly charged for other people at our table who were not with us. The server claimed my father had promised to pay for their food and drinks, yet they still received a bill of more than $400. After we spoke with my father and returned quickly, our bill was reduced to $580 from an original $890, which raised even more concern about the accuracy of the charges. We were told the receipt would be emailed, but it never arrived. When I checked my bank account, I discovered I had been charged $700. I called to resolve the issue, but the response was unhelpful. I was told I would need to produce the exact bill amount in order to file a complaint, and that someone would follow up within 48 to 72 hours. While I was there, I also overheard another customer arguing about their bill, which made the situation feel even more concerning. On top of that, the "premium" meat was not worth the price at all. I was charged $70 for a ribeye and received what seemed to be regular meat. Based on this experience, I strongly advise others to check every charge carefully and avoid ordering anything labeled premium. read more

Fun but pricey experience. This was my second time coming to a Benihana. I was pleased with everything. The bill at the end was steep I feel like you pay for the show more than the food, and would prefer to eat somewhere else where I can get good food and drinks for a better price. Now that being said it was nice being able to customize my food with more spice add teriyaki add this less that. That is something you cannot get at a normal restaurant. My espresso martini was very delicious as well as the soup. I wasn't a fan of the ginger dressing for the salad. The showmanship of the hibachi experience was overstimulating for me. This is something I would do if someone invited me for a special occasion, not just a go to eating place. Nothing wrong with this restaurant or establishment just think it's not for me. read more

The quality just goes down and down....I've seen so many managers who are trying to turn this around, but the problems are evident. The problems are two fold... imo. The menu is unclear. I ordered the lunch duet which you pick two options for a little higher price. One is the hibachi chicken. The menu description is "hibachi chicken with sesame seeds, mushrooms and onions." Nowhere on the menu does it state if you order the duet you no longer get mushrooms. I was told it does not come with the duet. Similar issues have arisen in the past. The server never asked if I wanted soup or salad, but did ask others, I got soup, no problem, but it would have been nice to ask. I had to track down a manager to order another glass of wine. When my tab came..:: they'd charged me for the most expensive wine without asking which one I want. I was originally giving this review 3 stars and have subsequently dropped it to 1. Deceptive practices. Be upfront about what people are paying for. The taste is great, but the issues are the servers (not management or the chefs) and deceptive menus. Benihana, you were once known for quality. Stop raising your prices on drinks, your prices aren't comparable with other restaurants. Quit with the lunch gimmicks and specials. People go to your restaurant for quality and consistency. Quit cutting corners on silly things. We will pay for the quality you once provided, but go back to the higher end hibachi, don't become a McDonald's of hibachi to fill more seats. Provide better quality and service and people will pay for that. Protect this name. How sad. read more

Food was so amazing. And the Wagyu is so delicious and tender. Everything was so delicious. The service in the lounge area seemed a bit awkward. If you want a more private experience, you have to sit in the lounge/bar area. But they don't seem to experienced with people having a full dinner there. The overall atmosphere is LOUD and seems chaotic to be honest. It would likely be better if you had a purpose for the noise and "entertainment", but if you don't have a large group of your own and choose to sit in the main dining area (by reservation only) you will be sitting there forced to share the table with strangers. But that's why sitting in the bar/lounge area is the option to sit more privately. read more

This review pertains to the Denver location, only... Benihana is likely my fave lunch spot and we've been all over the country'... First, I'll start with the good stuff... We visited for lunch, and there was ample parking and I really liked the valet drive-through where you could drop off at the front door. Upon entering, the restaurant was nice and clean, and we were warmly greeted by three staff members who seated us quite quickly. The hostess promptly took our order, almost rushing us because we were added to a table of two. We ordered sushi, salmon, rolls, and were given something completely different... Still not sure what they were, but it's interesting that a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar would prepare the wrong sushi. And the hostess, whom put in the order, acted like it was our fault as if we had ordered something wrong. I 1000% know what a salmon roll looks like, and this was some sort of shredded crab like substance, nowhere near a salmon roll. She placed it in front of us, even after we told her it was the wrong item, and said it was exactly as we had ordered. I asked for the manager and sent it back because it was clearly not the right thing. After several minutes, the hostess came back and advised that the chef made the wrong roll and that the correct one would be out soon. Kinda overlooked that but was quite unimpressed with the service. The Teppanyaki chef came out and he was amazing! He was very upbeat with a great personality and did a great job with the starting show, where he was twirling utensils. That part was really neat as well as all of his little jokes. The hibachi portion was OK, but it didn't blow my socks off like most other Benihana's do. My chicken was a bit overcooked, but the rice was excellent as was the shrimp and fillet. Not sure what happened, but the soup was overly salty, the saltiest I've ever had at a Benihana's. My lunch came with hibachi vegetable rice however, my husband ordered dinner, and his came with white rice, which we had to ask for... Even after we asked, she said we ordered fried rice which we did, and was extra. But the rice that came with his meal was omitted. Kind of unhappy by that and overall not the best Benihana experience we've had. It was freshly prepared, and tasted OK that could've been much better. read more
