The reviews and low ratings are warranted. Wow. The servers are scatterbrained, not well trained at all. Let's recap. 13 minutes for a server to actually come to the table. +9 minutes to receive water. +8 minutes for them to tell us they can't find the wine key so my sake order is cancelled... what? Lol. +4 minutes to order any appetizers +19 minutes tor first appetizer to appear +1 minute - my bottle of sake I ordered, they cancelled shows up. +14 minutes to start the hibachi cooking. (Yep, the timing is correct. It literally took 96 minutes just to START cooking the entrees. Entrees were entered wrong. Lord have mercy. I don't get what happened to this place. TLDR: The food is subpar, service is terrible, with prices that are wildly out of balance. Id literally rather just play in the sand and eat the crickets than come back here. Summary: bad service. Horrible staff. Food is not great and prices are terrible. read more

I'm officially DONE with Benihanas PERIOD. . We order drinks and food and the server starts telling a 9 year old that she only needs one order of fried rice when she asks for 2. The server didn't check on us one time after taking our orders and she had a very nasty attitude towards the guests when they asked for anything. Since the server never came back,I asked someone for the bill & then the server wanted to argue...Manager gave us 20% off the total bill, but it's not worth the trouble for a $200 meal. The staff is extremely unprofessional. read more

Took my cousin for the first time I did not get the rice I expected. He forgot to put the egg in it totally and then after he cleaned the grill, he left all the dirty shavings right next to my plates. He did not cook the vegetables right I don't think he took any classes for Benihana style cooking, I called corporate still waiting on a phone call apparently corporate doesn't care just as much as the cook did not care to put eggs in our rice they lucky they getting that star read more

Date- 12/5/2024 We had a party of 5 plus a newborn..made a reservation didnt want to sit at a grill because of the smoke from the food so we asked for a table..no problem there The issue came in when we sat down. First of all, the waitress acted like she did not want to be there, it took 20 min. to get our drinks, 15 more min. to order our food,, 40 more min. to get our appetizers (when we got them, there was a large black hair in our food) Asked for the manager! Sent the plate back. Our main course came out the same time our appetizers did so we asked the manager to send the plates back till we were done with eating the appetizers. While waiting we were never offered refills on our drinks,so a party member had to get up and get his own water(very sad) when the main course came back the waitress barely offered us any sauces we had to ask for more sauces. NEVER saw the waitress after that! The food was subpar at best. Very greasy! Very bland! Not to mention we killed 5 flies while seated. The employees seemed more interested in watching the football game on tv rather than help paying customers. Talked with the manager and he offered a weak explanation as to why the service was off(he did comp us only 50$ on a 200$ meal We picked this restaurant as a celebration of family and a new life being brought in ths world. We thought this was a nice restaurant, but based on the service and the food...we will NEVER be back. read more

This was my son's first time at the restaurant. We had J as our Chef. He was AMAZING! He made sure we were all set along the way and thoroughly entertained. My son enjoyed his food, his he environment and asked me while leaving this review if I could give J a rating of 100! We will be back to see you J! We sat down probably 30 mins after our reservation time. Our waitress initially told us there will be an additional wait for a chef but didn't say how long. Our orders were taken and we received our soup/salads pretty fast. Probably another hour later we were told it would be 30 mins for a chef. Another guest at our table left because of the inconvenience/wait time along with other guests at other tables. We didn't leave until 10:30 pm when our reservations were at 7:30. I understand the food industry is struggling with staffing as everywhere else but a little more communication at the beginning would be courteous for our time. read more

This location is always chaos. Staff in the front is rude and slightly aggressive. Not very welcoming at all. Food is good and this particular location is pretty big! Prices are fair and sushi is bomb dot com. I would not recommend this location; however, if you want to dine here call and make reservations in advanced and make sure your whole party is there before your reserved time. They will not be lenient with your arrangement. read more

Food under seasoned...waiter unattentive...forgot our steamed rice and had to get up to get our waiter (who was sitting at the front with another waitress on their cell phones) to bring us our rice. As we were leaving, the rest of the front staff were on their phones...poor customer service. Now I know why it took me 20 years to come back to Benihana's... read more

We enjoyed eating out for teppanyaki Japanese steak dinner at Benihana. 1st and closest branch is the one located at Farmington area, along Haggerty Rd. Been there multiple times since it is the closest. 2nd location - @Troy is closely followed. This is the Benihana place we go each time we visit Somerset, since it's less than a mile away. The 3rd locations is located in Dearborn. Today, we made a reservation here to try and experience again the ambiance, crowed and observe how are things done. This place is about 30 min drive, using the local Road - Ford Rd., Distance from IKEA to Benihana. not too bad considering it's almost round 5:00ish in the afternoon. Food: Almost the same taste, as compared to the other branch. Although, you can say that the lady chef who cooked our dinner was very generous in adding the famous garlic butter when she cooked the fried rice. While other people may not like it, majority of Benihana eaters enjoys having much of 'garlic butter' Service: Our server was great. He attempted many times creating conversations with the guest. We had a good experience, came back and served us, but maybe we can not say the same on the other couple sitting opposite our table. There was a mis communication about the use of 2 birthday coupons spending a total of $60+ dollars. Ambiance: fair and typical. Would say that Troy and Farmington Branch are cleaner. Overall: Had good experience. Good parking, and able to get in and out of the place. read more

Our cook Tay was amazing. He was really nice and the food was great. We never leave reviews but we had to give Tay a shoutout.

To treat myself. I placed an order via Uber Eats after getting serviced at the nail spa. I ordered the Steak Hibachi Rice with extra garlic butter. The order was ready when I arrived to pick it up. There did not appear to be any garlic butter on the rice prior to my putting on what was suppose to be extra garlic butter. It was not as flavorful as I would've liked as a result. read more

Tish was amazing server. the food was great and I had a great time with my friends and the cook. Shout out to our cook Brandon as he made it fun and he hyped up the table/crowd. I would highly recommend This place as they did an amazing job. once again, shout to the manager, our server Tish, and our server, Brandon. read more

Good food and hibachi action. Needs interior updated but other then that it was delicious. Evee and John did amazing job.

Service, food, and overall dining experience WAY down! But the prices are still high. Service was bad, drinks were late, took over an hour and a half for the "chef" to show up. "Chef" did not engage with the table. No show or funny tricks took all the fun out of the experience. Was an awful decision to drive out there and waste ALOT of money. Very disappointing because Benihana used to be such a fun and enjoyable experience, but not anymore. read more

Daniel the GM turned what could have been an awful experience into a good one. Thanks, Daniel.

Came here with a group of 10 on a Friday night. We had made reservations over a week prior and were told "You have until 15 minutes after your reservation to arrive or we will get rid of your table." No problem, that makes sense. We arrived at the restaurant and were told "We will not seat you until 15 minutes after your reservation time." All of our party was there and what is the point of a reservation time if we are not sitting at that time? Our hibachi chef Eli was the only reason we had a fun time, our service from the server was very poor. The las vegas and dragon rolls were good as well as the hibachi. They just need to work on their service and being more consistent with what they tell their customers. read more

I went here because my friend had a gift card that they had not used in a while. There was going to be a wait so we sat at the bar. It took some time to be seated. This was mainly because we were doing hibachi style dinning. Regardless of this the wait was pretty long. We were seated at a table with 4 others. The chef came and took our orders. Filet and shrimp for me and a California roll. It is always fun to watch the the chef cook. There is the volcano tower and flipping shrimp into hats. However, this guy was kind of low key as everyone else at the table agreed. He was not to enthusiastic. I am not sure that he wanted to be at work that day, he was maybe shy or low key. The other observation is that it is pretty smoky here. Although they have ventilation above the table it gets smoky. It also gets in your clothes so do not wear items you do not wish to smell like smoked hibachi. However the food was prepared and it tasted pretty good. There is always the salad with ginger dressing and miso soup if that is your choice. I always love the salad with ginger. It is really tasty and fresh. They also asked if we wanted white or fried rice. Fried rice for me please. My friend thought that we got a lot of fried rice and I would have to agree. We got A LOT of rice. I am not complaining though. I was pretty full and took a decent amount of food home. Overall it is pretty much of what I remember here, excluding the low key food entertainment of course. The food was good and I may visit again one day. I know of similar places that are closer so there is no rush but it was an ok outing. read more

THEY STOLE MY DEBIT CARD!!!! We paid with our card and we accidentally forgot it in the card holder. By the time we walked back in from the parking lot they "lost" the card. When we asked our waitress to look she said she would. Then she followed up that she would look with "if find it I'll call you. But if you find it you have to tell me you're a nimrod". Absolutely ridiculous. Update: after posting this 10 minutes later they suddenly "found" my card read more

Sadly the service was horrible, not sure if she was new or what but I had to get my own water, dishes were everywhere, my neighbors were sooo angry and kept complaining which makes other people pissed .... no manager came to apologize just the hostess did and he made sure we were fine ! However the chef( I think she is the only lady) her food was delicious, she got stressed also because they would not bring her the things she needed. However after she was done she made sure we were all ok ! Which she was the one that deserved the bigger tip! She made a bomb chicken fried rice and my filet mignon was cooked beautifully I loveeee Benihana (I usually go to the one in northville since I used to live around there N that spot deserved a 5 Star ) but Dearborn I might just have to skip this location... my piña colada didn't even come with any garnishing ... and it was $10!!!! Photo is up! Like I said if it wasn't for the chef this place would be A 1 Star. read more

Nothing like having a reservation for 7:30pm and being told we will be sat no later than 7:45pm. It is now 8:45pm and we've had our soup and salad and we are just sitting here waiting for a cook. This is ridiculous how long we've been waiting for food. This meal should be heavily discounted at this point because I am ready to leave. read more

The food was fine and the server was nice but the restaurant has gone down hill. Completely filthy. The good of our table and lights were covered in grease and the grease dripped down on us from the hood. I would be disgusted if this was a Coney Island but it's unaccounted for the prices they're chanting for it to be this gross and grimy. read more

Benihana - Dearborn - Filthy hood and lights raining down grease on diners. - Steakhouses Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

The restaurant is so DIRTY -- I'm not sure there is any cleaning protocol. The build up of grease on the lights and hoods are gross. It literally dripped grease on my husband's arm. Then at another point dripped grease on a napkin next to me. The food was delicious and the service was fine. For me it was the cleanliness-- well the complete lack of. It's clear that place is not taken care of anymore. read more

I wasn't that happy about this visit. I was with family and we were celebrating my daughters birthday. Even though they managed to accommodate our large party(a huge plus for me) the cleanliness of the dining area was questionable. At the beginning of our meal the grease traps in the vents started spilling over at the table next to us. And someone came out and cleaned the hood over us before our mean began and swapped out our plates. I felt like this was kid of odd. Our meal was prepared okay and the chefs talents were not as good as they used to be. He didn't seem enthusiastic about serving us. The entire visit seemed rushed but the food was decent. read more

Sue is AMAZING! If you go in for lunch you definitely want to sit with her! She kept our table tidy and neat which is a big thing for me especially because I used to be a server, she kept our glasses full, our spirits up and was literally on point with everything. I was completely impressed with her entire performance. One of my best restaurant interactions in a very long time. The manager Harvey was amazingly pleasant as well and runs an excellent shift. Just the entire atmosphere of his shit was refreshing and literally upheld all the standards that I would expect from a restaurant. I am completely blown away and can't wait to come back here with my husband shaj for another lunch date. read more

The food was okay, however if you are ordering from Uber eats or any other delivery service, keep in mind that they will be ripping you off with portions and taking advantage of the fact that you aren't there in person to complain. The "serves 2" plates are a regular container of rice for one person. The thing that I could not believe was the $6 MISO soup that came in a 6 oz container. Looking though their restaurant photos I found the same bowl of soup in a regular size bowl as it should be when you are dining IN. I think that says A LOT about the restaurant and how little they care about their customers. Looks like their dining service is horrible as well by the looks of all the one star reviews. They lost my business. read more

This is the absolute worst Benihana I've ever ordered from. We ordered two of the serving sizes for two people for the Habachi chicken fried rice, which should've been enough for 4 people and it was barely enough for 1 person. They are cheating people and ripping them off! The Benihana in Northville is soooo much better. Even other Habachi places are better now. This place is horrible and they don't care about ripping people off. Charge all of This money for scraps. read more

Take out order. Ordered chicken fried rice. I expected it to be like you would get at the hibachi table. The chicken I received was shredded, not like the grilled cut breasts you get at the table.
