I bring my karate gi here for repair. It's a hard garment to work with but they always figure it out. My wife also brings clothes here for alterations and cleaning. I'm not sure what kind of "service" these one star reviews are looking for. This isn't the Ritz Carlton folks...it's a small town dry cleaner. They do solid work and are nice enough. DO NOT USE! I took in a very expensive shirt worn once to be cleaned for a wedding in two days. I went today to pick it up and the stains had not been removed after I had pointed them out and they were marked with tape. The worst part was they had stapled the receipt to my shirt and when they pulled off the identifying tag to ring me up the staple put two holes in my shirt. I had already paid before I saw the shoulder tears and they said the holes were there when I brought it in, they were not, and refused to do anything. Would not give me my money back and the manager was extremely rude. My partner went back to show how the staples on the covering plastic lined up with the holes in the shirt and the manager smirked and said absolutely nothing. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. Who needs a business that charges to ruin your clothes and then is rude when you aren't happy with that. Check for another cleaner. read more

Avoid!!! Brought in a new tweed sport coat to have the sleeves taken in. The coat has working buttons so it must be done from the shoulder. This is an alteration that a tailor can do. I even pointed them out that I wanted them working to the tailor. "No problem" she said. Instead, the tailor here did a completely unthinkable thing and shortened the sleeve by hemming the cuff and resewing on the buttons. Not only that, the job itself was bad with the lining poorly sewn and the resewn buttons uneven. I was flabbergasted when I picked it up. Only a clown would wear something like this. I have used this cleaner on several occasions. I have little confidence in their ability. Today, I went to pick up 6 items. They only had four and that was all they said were cleaned. As I was leaving to check with my Fiancé, they stopped me, there were two shirts laundered, not dry cleaned. They did not check there. To make matters worse, one of the shirts laundered, was dropped off with a oil stain (melted butter). My Fiancé had pointed it out. In examining it upon my return home, it was worse than ever. I have always had those stains removed. My primary dry cleaner would have treated it, then dry cleaned the shirt. They did not do this even though the stain was pointed out. I am taking the shirt to my primary cleaner tomorrow to see if they can fix it. I will NEVER go this lame cleaner. I would not recommend you to go there at all! read more

We have been bringing our dry cleaning here since 2013. Laura, Aaron, and Sean are absolutely AWESOME. I walk in and they already have my info pulled up. The service is top notch! Over the past couple of years, I've built good friendships with all 3. The fact that they remember specific things going on in my life, and are sure to check in when they see me, truly means a lot. I know some have mentioned prices are a bit higher than other locations. However, I say "you get what you pay for"! AND, they offer pick up and delivery FREE of charge! I was in Benicia for a week and had several wedding events during that time. We are a big family And we went to Benicia Cleaners to dry clean 2 formal gowns, one with lots of sequence and 2 tuxedos. Excellent job on all items. I also had a few suits that needed same day pressing and they were very accommodating and did an excellent job. We also had 5 suits that needed dry cleaning for the wedding and we forgot to pick them up by close of business on Saturday (which if the day of the wedding).We were in a total panic. We were able to get in contact with the owner and he graciously came and opened the cleaners 2 hours after it had closed. He really saved the day and was so happy to help. This used to be my go-to cleaner. I especially appreciated their pickup/delivery service. Sadly it has changed over the years. One time I put my items out to be picked up. I also had someone drop off a box of Ziplock baggies to me. For some reason, the cleaners picked up my bag for cleaning as well as the giant Costco box of baggies. I called them about the baggies and they acted confused but finally admitted they took them and did bring them back. It was very odd but I kept bringing them my business. Sadly, I will no longer be going back after the most recent experience. They delivered a mens dress shirt that was still wet and still stained. I called for them to come pick it up. Days went by and I had to call again. They finally came. Over two weeks passed and the shirt hadn't been returned. I called on a Monday and they said they would have it to me by Friday. I asked if that meant they hadn't cleaned the shirt in all of that time. They said they would return it on Wednesday. I confirmed I would not be charged and they said No I wouldn't. I got another call that they would bring the shirt that afternoon, indicating to me it had been cleaned for awhile and they just totally forgot about it. What would've happened if I hadn't called?! Well today I was charged for the shirt. I called to say that I was told I would not be charged. They said I was not charged for the re-do but that I would be charged for the original cleaning. I said that it wasn't done correctly and that they forgot about the shirt for nearly three weeks and only returned it after I called. I asked for a refund (approx $8.00) and they said "there is no free here". I told them I have been a loyal customer and they messed up but they wouldn't refund me. I don't know if they had a management/ownership change but after todays experience and after 7 years of loyalty, I am taking my business elsewhere... read more

I brought in a beautiful synthetic fur blanket from restoration hardware that cost me a very pretty penny when I purchased it and they completely ruined it. They cleaned it once before with no trouble at all, but this time the fur was matted and singed, basically ruined. When we returned the same day to ask for a refund of the $4O dry cleaning charge they would not comply. I will never bring anything here again. I would give the alteration service I received in this business a zero if I could. I had a (fairly expensive--it was over $100) blouse that had way too much fabric so I brought it in to have it taken in. The seamstress (don't have her name) pinned and measured and when I picked it up and tried it on at home, it barely buttoned in the front. I brought it back and she 1. Insinuated that somehow it was my fault (she pinned it, measured it, and sewed it . . . my fault?) and then 2, Tried to tell me it was fine the way it was. I got really annoyed at this point and asked her if she would wear a top that fit like this one did. She then chastised me for "yelling." (I hadn't even gotten close to yelling yet). She told me to to leave it, that she could fix it. I picked it up today and she hadn't done a darn thing to the top. Nothing. So the blouse is ruined, and I never as much got an "I'm sorry." Too much to ask? Perhaps in this day and age it is. Never going back. Do NOT bring an alteration to this place. read more

My fiancé and I had a wedding to attend, I dropped off a suit and 2 dresses on a Tuesday. I stated to the gal that took them in I would need them no later than EOD Thursday. She said ok no problem, my receipt stated pick up 4:00 pm Thursday.Friday morning 8:30am I'm there expecting my dry cleaning to be done. NOPE, the excuse of what I presume to be the owner is the "gal" must've not tagged the order correctly. Leaving me to have to wait until EOD Friday. I have tried like crazy to get a hold of the owners but to settle this matter and they don't seem interested. I dropped off my wedding dress to be dry cleaned and after I left, their employee called me saying that due to the material it had to be washed in the washing machine. I don't trust myself to not damage such an important item so I asked her if she was SURE that it wouldn't get ruined and she GUARANTEED me that it would come out fine and i had nothing to worry about. When I brought my dress home, the outside layer had shrunk about 6 inches from the inside silk layer. I took the dress back and they told me too bad that the don't guarantee anything. I said I wanted to talk to the owners and they said the best they could do was to hem the skirt free of charge. So i agreed that at least it would look better if the hem was the same on the inside and outside of the dress. When I went back to pick up my dress they couldn't find it. I've continued to go back and see if they could find my dress or if they could have the owners call me to discuss and to this day the dress is gone and i haven't gotten a hold of the owners. They're never there and they never call me back. The small red wine stain which she assured me would come out was still there. I can't believe I trusted them with my wedding dress and that they ruined it and won't even call me back to discuss this matter and worse of all, LOST MY WEDDING DRESS! read more

Disappointed. My husband and I have been loyal and frequent customers of theirs for over four years. One shirt was damaged beyond repair. When we went back to show them what happened, they didn't take responsibility it for it. The owner even stated there was no way it could have been their doing. In addition to regularly gruff service from the sole male employee here (I have never felt anything more than transactional courtesy), a Garment was ruined. We were instructed to "take it back to the store" which is impossible as the sweater has been in use for a number of months. Responsibility was not taken, and while the cost was removed from the bill to "clean" what was until now perfectly wearable, was, no additional steps were taken to retain our business. Dear ANGELA (the owners wife) who works at the Benicia Cleaners... Let me start off by saying that I will never take another thing to you again! My parents have been going here for YEARS so I decided to take a pair of my boyfriends pants there that needed to be fixed since I work in town. I will never be making that mistake again... I dropped them off on a Friday and had my mom pick them up on a Monday. When I went to my parents house to pick them up I found a green pair of pants...I dropped off a pair of Khakis. I brought the green pants back to them today and told them that they gave me the wrong pair of pants and the lady at the counter, named Angela (apparently the owners wife), was extremely rude and unwilling to fix a problem that they created. She kept stating that there is nothing they can due since the computer shows that they were picked up by us. I kept repeating myself that yes, we did pick up a pair of pants, however, THEY WERE THE WRONG PAIR. I dropped off khaki and you gave me green! Obviously two different colors!! She was very rude and unwilling to help fix their mistake and refused to take back the green pair of pants. The pants they lost are a pair of $60 dress slacks and I paid $20 to have them repaired... I am extremely disappointed and upset by the lack of professionalism that was displayed today. I work in Customer Service so I know the ropes of dealing with people and I would NEVER treat a customer the way she treated me and spoke to me today. Extremely rude, unprofessional and they have completely lost my business! I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone! I mean, I guess I will if they want their clothes to be lost and to be treated horribly by someone who is married to the owner...Apparently she never learned that sometimes it is better to fix the problem in order to keep a customer! I was so apprehensive about getting my alterations done here for my wedding dress. I went to D.B and they wanted to charge me an arm & a leg. So on a tip from a good friend, I decided to take it here. The lady at the shop Angela was so amazing. She help me relieved all the stress and anxiety that I had about having my alterations done in such a short amount of time ( 5 days- my dress came in late due to weather delays). My dress looked almost impossible to alter because of the intricacy of the beading and lace and cut. But Benicia cleaners pulled it off! I was so pleasantly surprised by the alterations! It looked absolutely perfect! The Taylor who worked on my dress did a fantastic job! They even steamed cleaned the dress for me the same day! I loved the work that I all of my bridal party's dresses altered there as well! They are so very kind at this shop! And I am forever grateful that they accommodated my alterations in such a short period of time. They have earned a life long customer!! read more

Sadly, I must be the one to break all of the positive reviews. I have continued to keep giving Benicia Cleaners a chance when it comes to alterations and tailoring, but their service is sorely lacking. The seamstress ALWAYS seems to be in a bad mood and it's as if she hates to alter (easy hem) my pants the two times I've needed alterations. The dry cleaning is fine but the customer service has left much to be desired. I think I've used up all of my "off day" passes and will bring my business elsewhere, which is too bad because it's so conveniently located. read more
