I desperately needed my bob trimmed and only gave this place a call because no other hair salon would answer lol. I asked the receptionist what THEIR most convenient time would be to come in, and she said that because I wanted a "specialized haircut" that Maria would be the best stylist for me. Maria was in the background and I heard her say that 9 am on September 13th would work for her, the receptionist repeats this to me. That works for me, the earlier the better. They told me that the base charge would be $65, but once I told them that I wanted an A-line bob, I was told that this "specialized" haircut would start at $75. I'm not even asking for the super short graduated back of the head, just leave my front pieces slightly longer than the rest of the bob. I only need about 2 inches taken off the back anyway. I get to the salon, and it's a ghost town. When I looked them up last week, I saw they open at 10 am, so when they scheduled me for 9 am, I assumed Maria would be here before opening to do my hair. Nope. Waited about 10 mins, called both the Bellisima AND My Chair by Maria phone numbers, nothing. I'm just so confused. Maria herself said 9 am, so why is it 9:23 and I'm STILL not getting my hair done? Super unprofessional, super unreliable, and I'll never give this place a second glance again. I initially came here with a Groupon about a year ago. Isa had worked on my hair and did such a phenomenal job when I had gone, that I decided to keep coming back to her. It's been about a year now, and I decided to go for something different this time around. I trust her with my hair, so I simply told her to trim my hair as she felt was needed and lighten my hair. I've been wanting to add some color to my hair without going too crazy, and was excited to see how the concept was going to turn out. Of course, it was everything I could've asked for and more! The color had the right amount of grey that I wanted with that purple touch focused on the ends. I love it! Isa is also so sweet. I came here on 08.16.16 for a Groupon deal I got for gel nails with Danielle. She did a great job. I love the color I chose too. I brought my own flower stickers, which she was nice enough to accommodate what I wanted: to put it on after I get my gel nails. It has been almost 3 weeks and my gel nails still haven't chip yet. The owner is not helpful and is a fraud!!! The owner response proves he is a liar and only trying to do damage control when I screen shot the picture of the receipt. I got hair extension and in less than 12 hours they all fell out when I brushed my hair with a hair brush that is designed for hair extensions. The hair dresser who they call Caro for short (who had the short white pixie cut) cut the part of the hair extensions that holds all the separate strands of hair together and put them in my hair which makes no sense at all. When I rightfully so asked for a refund the owner said no and was beyond rude and only cared about her money. In return the hair dresser put the hair extension back in my hair saying she could now do them the correct way this time and glued them in yet in a matter of a days the hair matted and It took more than five hours to take the excessive glue out of my hair. **THE HAIR DRESSER SHOULD HAVE PUT THEM IN CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME. read more

After reading a few good reviews and seeing that this place has a 4-1/2 star rating, I purchased a Groupon for a deep condition, cut and blowout. I called the number Groupon provided and the woman over the phone was booked for the times I was available that week. She offered an appointment with one of her assistants, however, I was happy to book two weeks out in order to set the appointment with her. She gave me the impression that she was the experienced or main stylist and I was afraid her "assistants," may not be as experienced. On my appointment day, I arrive only to find out that my appointment is with one of her assistants. I questioned this and she explained that her assistants do all of the Groupons. It made me feel like I was not valued as a customer because I had pre-paid a discounted price. I was reluctant about the stylist she pawned me off on, but tried to keep an open mind and give him a try. He's someone new and had only been there one week. The good thing is that he was extremely nice and very sweet. So I showed him the pictures I brought and he gave me some suggestions. OK I'm open to suggestions so I was sort of willing to give him a try. My hair turned absolutely NOTHING like what I wanted. In fact, it's not my style at all. What I ended up with looks very Farrah Facet 1970's. I really did not care for the haircut or the style. This is not an edgy salon. The location is super convenient because I work just a couple of doors down, but even the convenience is just not worth coming back. I'm generously giving this place one star because the young man that cut my hair was very sweet. Otherwise it wouldn't be deserving of any stars. I am not one to give terrible ratings. Just got my Brazilian blowout by Jessica. Not impressed. I purchase the $100 Groupon deal was charged $60 extra for chest length hair. She wasn't friendly & didn't even greet me. She sat me down and then started brushing my hair very roughly. When I had Brazilian Blow outs before in other salon they always took the time to section the hair well and put the formula in even flat ironing it too. That's why I had great results. Everything here was done in such a rush. I felt like a sheep lined up to get my wool cut. This was seriously the worst. Its hard starting over and trying out someone new especially when it takes you so long to grow out your hair. I decided to start searching on yelp and something closer to home and found Bellisima. The reviews were great and I also noticed that some clientele had used Groupon. My husband purchased me a birthday condition, cut and style on Groupon, $30 for $90 service. Making an appointment was relatively easy calling the salon direct and I was booked the same week. When I got there, I was greated by Zule. She was very friendly, attentive and made me feel like she was listening and understood what I was looking for. I explained keeping my length was important also. My hair was washed and conditioned plus an awesome scalp massage. She began cutting while asking questions to make sure the layers were just where I wanted them. She then blow dried and styled my hair and I was AMAZED!! I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I was so completely pleased with my whole experience and probabaly one of the best cuts I have ever had! I left feeling absolutely beautiful. (Review based on 2.5 stars) Located in Old Town Monrovia, on a corner across from Puff Monkey. Plenty of street parking available. I came by this salon twice to get my nails done by Danielle. Once in March and once in May. On both occasions, I was rather disappointed with the final result. On the first visit, my nails chipped within 4 days. At the end of the week, the gel polish lifted and peeled. Shortly after, it split on both my hands. On the second visit, my nails chipped within 5 days. The gel polish started to peel but not as easily as the first time. This has never happened to me before so I was surprised that this happened to be both times. After coming on my 2nd visit and telling Danielle what happened, she told me it most likely happened because I am always washing my hands (I work in a hospital and I am also a big advocate for cleanliness). She explained that polish is very particular and does not like water. I believe her, but I have had several gel manicures in the past and have not changed my job in the last 5+ years. And have not had a gel manicure not last this short. When I had asked Danielle if she would add extra polish to add as an added protective barrier, she said it won't do anything and wouldn't do it anyway. I thought Danielle was very friendly and very nice. But I wasn't a fan of how short lived my gel manicures lasted. She also did not fully clean off the polish off my finger tips before curing them under the UV lamp. So I had some polish on my skin. But I do appreciate that Danielle offered lamp gloves when I told her of my concern of using the UV lamp. I did not know that salons offer lamp gloves and will request for them the next time I get a gel manicure (not at this salon). I hate to give a low rating, but I feel that my rating is fair based on the service and end product that I received. Nail pricing are as followed: $20 manicure, $30 gel manicure $30 pedicure $20 eyebrow wax By the way, when you first come into this salon, if you have a nail appointment (there are 2 other ladies who do nails here) you can walk to the other room on the left and wait there (although there is someone at the front desk when you 1st come in, it is better to wait in the other room because the girl at the front desk never told Danielle that I was waiting for her when I came for my appointment the first time). Zule is such an amazing person with such a beautiful soul. She's extremely hard-working and she hustles like no other. Like fo' reals. She's 5 stars all over!!! The first time I called, no answer. I sent in an email on the website requesting an appointment. The second time I called, I was told that my Groupon would not be honored due to the person offering the Groupon having a personal emergency. No ding on her; I get it--crap happens. She suggested I just return it. I'm fine with that. I figured I'd just redeem it much later or contact Groupon about it. They ended up returning the call later on in the day, but I wasn't able to pick up, so they just left me a voice message stating they were going to schedule me on Friday (not a day I requested at all) and if I had a problem with it, to call and reschedule, otherwise, they would see me on Friday. I don't know the norms about scheduling like that, but okay, I can deal with a little off-settling-ness. Upon entering, the check-in desk was to the side a bit on the left. No one greeted me when I entered, but they did stare at me. I had to walk all the way to the desk to be greeted. I guess that's the only place they're allowed to greet people. Checked in, and was utterly confused when I was told I would be serviced by Zule because I made the appointment under the impression that another person, whose name I can't remember, was going to service me. Zule came in with that kind smile of hers. She talked to me about the services and pricing (another Yelper also mentioned that it was the Groupon + extra, and that's the same for me) then got straight to work. She was very professional, yet warm. I learned a lot about this girl, and let me say, I'm super impressed by her ambition and goals and hopes her all the best. She's very knowledgeable about her profession, but she also knows her limitation and will ask when she's unsure. She will also put in the time to ensure quality and customer service (she stayed till 9 to finish my hair). Oh, she's also makes sure that her clients are getting the attention needed and will feed you grapes and strawberries. At the end of our time together, I wasn't sure about the result of the color, she reassured me that if it didn't fade to the color I wanted, to just let her know and come back in. I'm highly satisfied with Zule and would come back to Zule. Zule is 5 stars across the board, but the salon is a 3. I feel like I'm stepping into a high school. read more

Went to Bellisima for the first time because I purchased a Groupon for a Cut, Conditioning, and Full Highlights. Chanel was the hair stylist. Turns out that Chanel had done my hair once before, a year ago, at a different location where she had once worked. She did a great job then, so I was cool with it. Anyways, she brings me a nice refreshing glass of water, with lip prints that aren't mine. Hmmm. Not a great start so far. So, we're chit-chatting, talking about what we've been up to since we last saw each other. Then she brings me the color chart to see what color I want. I currently have grown out brown and blond highlights and wanted to get full red highlights. So, as we are chit chatting, she proceeds to brush this color all over the crown of my head and I stop her and remind her that we are supposed to be doing full highlights....since that's what I paid for. She's like "Oh. I thought you meant full color". Duh! Why would I pay more $$ for highlights, if I just wanted color? What does my Groupon say?? Okay, whatever, I let her proceed. The fumes from the chemicals were really hurting my eyes, so I don't know what they use there. At the end, the color was okay, but Chanel kept saying how much she loved the way it turned out. Of course...because they don't want to admit anything is fucked up. She then tells me no more Groupons since I've purchased it before....not my fault you decided to work elsewhere, lady! Then she starts blow drying my hair, parting it in the wrong direction. Ggrrrr... i tell her that I normally part my hair to the right, not left...so, she tries to re-style it to go to the right, but of course, my hair is uncooperative now, since she already had it going the other way. Never once did she ask me HOW I wanted my hair cut and how I normally style my hair. I also reminded her that she's suppose to cut my hair too. She said she did. She cut off about 3" off the back. Okay, that's fine. So, I asked what about my bangs and crown. She's like "Oh, you want your bangs cut too?" Duh! I tell her I want them to land between my eyebrows and my eyes when my hair is dry. I also tell her that I want my crown cut and blended in with the rest of my hair. She looks at me like she's confused...so I said "like how you style your hair....that's how I style mine too". So, okay she proceeds to cut my bangs...too damn short!! She then cuts the rest of the hair on my crown and brushes my hair downward to hide the fact that she fucked up my bangs, hoping I don't notice. So, if I said earlier that I part my hair to the right, how is combing all of my bangs straight down remotely close to going to the right? Oh...and aren't I supposed to be handed a mirror so that I can check out how the back of my hair looks? In my head, I'm thinking "no tip", but when she's done she just stands there waiting, so of course, you feel obligated to do so. Ugh! I'm pretty disappointed with this salon. I had been going to my same hairdresser for years. Decided to give Bellisima a try since I had read great reviews. I made it a point to come for a consultation before, to make it right. I only wanted highlight touch up and color my roots. My hair was in the lighter side, I made it very clear that wanted highlights on the crown area and nothing too dark for the base. I noticed that when they were going my highlights they were not being eventually done. I figured, she knew was she was doing. I get my hair washed and I was so devastated. It was a dark chocolate brown and no highlights. I made her aware that it was way to dark, she replied the dark will wash out. I paid $180.00 for nothing. Overpriced and poor quality of work. I was originally being charged $210, but since i didn't get it styled it was $180. I was so dissatisfied I had to go back to my old hairdresser to get it fix it and paid another $75 dollars. My hair was a mess before Lexie fixed it up. I saw on Groupon the haircut + balayage deal for $99, so I called for more info. Lexie told me to send her a picture of my hair bc she said she was good at eyeballing the price range. Lexie was very helpful & told me that it would cost $150 to fix my hair. When I went to the salon, Lexie was super nice and I loved how she walked me through the process of what she was doing to my hair. She warned me that my hair might turn a certain color and not to get shocked because it would change as she worked on it more. I would recommend Lexie to others and will be back to this salon. With that being said, the reason why I didn't give a full 5 stars is because: 1. The price kept going up! First, when I asked about the price, she said it would be $150 because I would need to have some foils in my hair as well as balayage. When she saw my hair in person, she told me it will be $180 because it wasn't a balayage anymore since she had to dye almost my whole head (further up my hair, near the roots) because my hair was seriously a mess! However, when we were done with the whole process, it ended up being $220 minus $10 because of Yelp review. So I ended up paying $210 without tip for my hair. But I do understand hair is supposed to be expensive, so maybe I shouldn't complain. It's just my thought for the price range went from $99 - $150 - $180 - $210 2. I loved the way my hair looked the day I got it done. It is 3 days later and some parts of my hair is a bit green. However, my hair used to have some blonde parts before I got it done. Only those parts are green (I'm guessing it's because that part is super dead?) I'm hoping that when I go back in 4 weeks to touch up my hair, Lexie will be able to fix it. She is a busy woman so make sure you make your appointment in advance! This salon is in a quaint little part of town in Monrovia. I found parking to be very easy and didn't have to worry about running out in the middle of a pedicure! So appreciate that. I was greeted with the friendliest smile. Danielle made the time by so fast. We chatted, laughed, almost cried. :) Basically I felt like I went to go see a friend. She worked fast and clean and was in no rush! Lexi is absolutely wonderful. I will be forever grateful for her. She was the first person to cut my hair short after years and years of my attachment to my long hair. My first appointment with her was through a groupon purchase, but since then, I always go to her, this is a first for me too! I've never had one stylist my whole life. I texted and brought in pictures on my phone, so simple! And she did exactly what I described and asked for. She was able to accommodate my budget for a second trim and reshaping and was STILL flexible with me when I came in the next day to do a dry trim to get some access I didn't want. She is sweet, talented, has a lot of experience to give good advice and/or ideas, and is super flexible! She is very friendly and really knows her stuff. Service was great. I was greeted right when I came in and offered tea/coffee. Within in a few minutes I was in the chair getting my hair washed and she put together a blend of different colors that matched my natural roots. She really took the time to make sure everything was covered perfectly and that the color stayed on long enough to match my natural hair color. The manicurist there (Marti) is awesome. I moved to Arizona a couple years back so I don't see her that often. When I am in town I defiantly plan around my appointment with her. I've gone to PLENTY of places both here in AZ and in CA and have never had a mani or pedi come out as good as Marti's have. Her pedis last for a couple of months...if your nails don't grow fast. The manis don't chip as fast either. I don't have to ask her to cut my nails or file them down like I have to do at some other places. Her services are moderately priced so I go there when I want a quality mani and/or pedi. She has done the new gel nail procedure for me and those lasted about 3 weeks WITHOUT chipping! Bait and switch. If you're thinking of getting the Groupon for this vendor, don't. The fine print states "additional fees may apply depending on hair length, texture, and density." I was charged $45 extra because they stated at the conclusion of services "btw, it's $45 extra because of extra dye for the roots!" They could just charge whatever outrageous fees they want! I've got my hair done at this Bellisima Salon yesterday. My hair turned out pretty but don't get me wrong, it's not even close to what or how I want or requested for. I saw the Groupon Ad but I did not purchase it from Groupon after seeing previous reviews about transaction or experience consumer have through Groupon. I went in directly to the salon showing Groupon price, the stylist said she will honor the Groupon price but I will have to pay more due to my hair length, which the price was agreed upon prior to getting my hair done. I've wanted a hair cut, deep condition, style, and balayage, which Groupon have it special for $87. I've showed the stylist the picture of the balayage color I want, which is like ASH GREY color. She said she can do it with additional cost, which I was okay with. Very unhappy with how the color turned out especially after paying and agreeing on the price. It doesn't even look any close to ASH Grey color balayage. My hair doesn't even look any different before and after getting my hair done other then it's shorter in length. My hair doesn't even look like a Balayage. It looked like I've just dyed my hair in Medium BROWN color. What makes it worst is that I came home, everyone at home says they DON'T notice any difference in my hair color, it's the same as before. I was unhappy with my hair outcome, so I've just pay, tipped and left the salon. I've asked the stylist my hair color is not the same as picture, she said my original hair color is dark so it will not get to ASH Grey color until I do it 2-3 more times. Why is she telling me that after she did my hair? Why can't she say that oh your hair is dark so it's not possible to do ASH Grey color today, you have to do few more times to get to ASH Grey color??? What is more upsetting is that I've came home and notice hair dye stains on my face and my ears. I'm still having a hard time taking the dye stains off my face today. I think the stylist forgot to apply cotton or Vaseline on my face/hair line/ear around it before she applied the hair dye. I'm so disappointed... spending the money for a new look, ended up with same look plus hair dye stains on my face. read more

I came here recently and I have to say, I wasn't very satisfied with my experience. The lady doing my hair was Melody. Our appointment was at 4pm but I had to wait about 40 minutes until it was my turn. She was the only one at the salon actually working, the other employees were just sitting around chit chatting (???). She cut my hair relatively precisely the length I wanted it to be which is fantastic. When she was asking about the type of color I wanted for my partial highlights, I said I wanted a natural brown, which I sort of got but what raises my eyebrows is that she did not ask for a picture or show me the color I'd be getting. When she was washing my hair the neck rest part seriously hurt my neck. It was incredibly uncomfortable. It wasn't until after she put the conditioner in till she put a towel under my neck. When she was drying my hair, the heat was set too high and the hair dryer was too close to my scalp and so it really burned and hurt my scalp. Another thing I noticed was that throughout my experience, her hands were very shaky. Even while combing my hair, cutting my hair, drying my hair, etc. Speaking of which, when she was combing my hair she accidentally scraped the round brush across my forehead which hurt, especially since i have a bit of acne in that area. I really needed to get my hair done because I had to go to a wedding the next day. I wanted my hair Balayage and was very nervous on who to trust because someone last year really messed up my hair color and I was so scared that it would happen again. Crystal made me feel at ease and that I was under good hands she answered all my questions and was so kind and kept checking in with me because she knew how nervous I was. My hair ended up being exactly how I wanted it so perfect so beautiful and she was soooooo sweet to even be like if you want anything different don't worry I can make it more blonde or less blonde and I was like noooooo this is exactly what I want!
