Linda took 2 hrs to cut and shaped my hair to a long bob style. And thin out my hair so that it is not so thick and heavy. I gave her pictures of how I want my hair to look like and she was able to replicate it. I am really satisfied with my outcome. Linda speaks Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I can also communicate with her in English as well. The salon itself was spacious and clean. I felt very comfortable there. Linda wears a surgical mask which I like and appreciate. I felt safe. I was in desperate need of a hair trim due to my nasty split ends. However, I usually DREAD going to get it cut. I have pretty long hair and I've had bad experiences where they leave my hair choppy or TOO short. I was recommended to come here to see hairdresser, Sonia J., by my boyfriends sister. By the end of my experience I was absolutely in LOVE with my hair. It was still long, super healthy, silky and smelled really yummy. Chanel is very professional and really tries to get to know her customers which I absolutely love! She's easy to talk to and lovable. I brought in a few photos for examples/inspiration and Chanel was very knowledgeable about what look I was trying to achieve. She educated me on what color was possible due to having very dark hair, and helped pick a color with the least damage to my hair. OK so for all of you who knew or knows Rene & Company he's famous for the "Brazilian Blowout" his shop was formally at 15 East Huntington Dr. he is now at Del Sol salon at 139 East Huntington Dr.. Rene is still doing the Brazilian blowout and the shop is extremely nice, clean and busy. Rene now has an assistant that helps him with washing (she gives a good head massage) and preparing the hair so that he can do the blowout. Once again I am extremely happy with my Brazilian. I am pleased with the job done by my stylist (whom I've used for many years), but what made me uncomfortable was the fact that some of the other employees there (one stylist and one helper who sweeps up, etc.) wore their masks situated below their noses or even pulled down under their chins. What's the point of that? I didn't want to get my hair blow dried because of it. I'm older, so I try to be careful when I am out and about. When I tried to phone the place and speak with the owner (Rene) about it, I found that they'd disconnected their phone and had not reconnected it yet. Disappointing. read more

I really go here just for Jessica, one of their stylists. I haven't tried anyone else, except for Erin, Jessica's friend. I had my prom updo done by Erin and it was amazing. It was an elegant updo that stayed up all night. I started having my hair done by Jessica before she moved to this salon. I've known her for about 8 years. She is fantastic! Not only she is really up-to-date about the latest styles and trends, she has an eye for detail. She'll notice that I like to tuck my hair behind my ears, so she'll intentionally make my hair long enough to do so. I didn't know I had this habit until she pointed it out. I have always had trouble finding a stylist to deal with my thick Asian hair. On many occasions, I have fooled myself in thinking that I could have my hair cut at any ol' place (like at Fantastic Sam's or a place for cheap student cuts), but only to come back to Jessica to have her fix it. So Jessica does her magic and I have been able to have short to long styles with relative ease. I don't spend more than 10 minutes to style my hair in the morning. In fact, one time she gave me the most awesome cut and all I had to do was roll out of bed without combing it. The salon she works in now is pretty nice. There's a friendly, professional staff and a well-magazined waiting area. You can have tea or something while you wait. Parking is not a problem. There's street parking right in front and a lot in the back. However, making appointments with Jessica is a little difficult only because she is in high-demand. I would suggest scheduling an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance. Just to explain how special she is to her cients. When she first switched salons, her former salon would not notify her clients about her new location. So many of them went looking for her. Some of them literally walked down the street checking each salon for her when they heard rumors that she was on a particular street! More about Jessica: She's talkative and friendly. Since she's also an instructor for Sexy Hair, she really knows her stuff and will do some techniques on your hair you might not see elsewhere. I also like her work on special occasion updos, and she's great at blowdrying your hair. The only downside is that she is pretty pricey for most people, but if you have the money and you've always had problems with other stylists, you should see Jessica. read more

This review is for Chanel. I'd have to say, Chanel made a very good impression right from the start. I was approximately 10 minutes late because of heavy traffic and road construction but she was ever so gracious and friendly, nonetheless. I loved her personality and demeanor. We chatted quite a lot and she made me feel so comfortable that I actually fell asleep during my blow-dry. The color she chose for me was great for my complexion and I was very pleased with my end results. She gave me nice layers that suited my face shape and I liked how she didn't go downtown with the scissors, if you know what I mean. Some hair stylist don't listen when you tell them only 2-3 inches off and they take 5-6. Chanel kept my hair length to where I was still happy. By the way, she used Pravana (I think that's how you spell it) hair color and it lifted beautifully and quickly. I didn't even have to sit under the heat lamp at all. After she applied the color, we went straight to the back to wash it all out. Quick and painless. Chanel will be my go-to colorist now and I'm happy to have met her. She definitely is deserving of 5 stars from me. read more

I purchased the groupon for a cut, condition and color or highlights and decided I would go dark. I told Chanel I wanted to go dark but to stay brown, almost black. She mixed some dye and basically I love the color she chose! After the wash and condition treatment she cute my hair and gave me exactly what I wanted, light layers! She then styled my hair beautifully and fixed my bangs. All in all would recommend 100% I enjoyed myself and now I love my hair! Great haircut and color by Carmen at Del Sol! I was desperate last week for a haircut and new style, since I hadn't been to a salon in... (deep breath... ok, just say it) TWO YEARS. I know, I know, pathetic. Clearly, I'm not a fashionable, trendy person who cares that much about beauty maintenance (sigh), but that doesn't mean I don't know a good haircut and great service when I see one/get it. Also, my hair guy in Koreatown moved and I just never got around to replacing him. So, on a random day off, I looked up salons in the area and picked a new place entirely based on Yelp reviews. Thanks, Yelpers! Customer service: I called same-day to see if they had any openings and they did! Woohoo! My appointment was set for 3:00 pm (an hour-and-a-half from when I called), but Carmen called back around 2:45 pm to ask if I could switch to 5:00 pm. Since I knew they were already squeezing me in, I didn't see this as an inconvenience and, plus, she was really, really nice about it on the phone. During the cut, she was friendly and chatty, but also ok with quiet moments since I don't need to talk all the time I'm in the chair. There were three other customers there, too, and all the conversations were happy, familiar ones, so I assume that they were all regulars. Holiday music was on the radio and the salon was all decked out in Christmas decorations, so it felt cozy inside. Haircut: When I walked in, my hair was long and straight, all the way down to my middle-back. And, I had been cutting bangs in front of the bathroom mirror for a while now, and admitted it to Carmen. (She didn't judge.) I didn't have an exact style in mind but was hoping for shoulder-length or shorter, lighter, and, of course, cuter! Carmen listened and was patient and reassuring. She gave me a really cute, short, assymetrical cut that is easy to fluff and style. It feels amazing and I get a lot of compliments! She knew I couldn't see without my glasses so I couldn't tell how it was shaping up throughout the cut, and the fun thing was that she was excited, too, for the big reveal when it was all blow-dried and done! Color: I also didn't give her much direction on color, but she did a great job! I have Asian-black hair, and she lightened it to a warm, dark brown that shows up a little more purple-y than orange-y on my hair, which I like. She also added small chunks underneath that are a brighter red-- subtle, yet, fun! Someone told me that it was "perfect for winter"-- not sure what that means but it sounded like it meant that Carmen knew what she was doing! Overall: Carmen is really good and, as I learned from chatting with her, she genuinely loves what she does! I think this is the best thing about her. Also, she seems to have lots of experience with different styles ranging from sophisticated to funky, and she can read a person to create a style that feels good and that fits. Also, the pricing was less than my old Koreatown place, so I walked out happy and knowing I'd come back again. read more

I've been coming here for over 8 years! Jessica is my amazing hair stylist who actually did my hair in my yelp profile pic! I have naturally curly hair and I've never been able to find anyone else who can do my hair like she can. In 20 mins she makes it look naturally straight! She does a phenomenal job! I followed my hairdresser , who is now located here at Del Sol Salon...Marlene F. She gives consistently great haircuts! She always tries to accomdate my somewhat last-minute schedule...even if it means she will be home late..... Marlene really does have talent with the scissors and clippers... trust me.. i've been going to here for a good 2-3 years. One thing that is my fave is a great razor-cut choppy do, each time she give me such a smooth cut, it takes minor styling afterwards. Just falls into place. Veronica did my daughter's Brazilian blowout before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was amazing. She really understood what was best for my daughter's hair type. She was super flexible with scheduling and accommodated really well to what my daughter wanted. She even offered to touch up the perm the next day for free and gave my daughter a special Brazilian blowout conditioner for free that she continues to use today. After having the same hair stylist for 20 years I needed to look for another one in the San Gabriel valley because I moved. I found this place and made an appointment with Veronica. The first two appointments were fine. However, on the third visit I show up for the appointment and she was not there. A few days later she calls me and apologizes for missing our appointment. She reschedules my appointment for a Sunday morning. When I show up she wants to do a Brazilian blow out. Which I have never done. I do my hair every 6 weeks. Usually highlights one visit and color the next. She tells me she has no time to do highlights because she needs to go. I was upset because this was the second time that she messed up my appointment and she ends up doing a half ass job (only put a few highlights in the front to get me by). She booked me a week later to finish the job. And boy did she finish the job. She pulled the bleach all the way down and when she was brushing out my hair chunks and chucks of hair fall out. I held back my tears as best as I could and ran out of there as fast as I could. I would think twice before booking an appointment with her. She saw what she did and didn't even bother to try to follow up with me to mend her mistake. She charged me 160 total to mess up my hair. Beware! read more

I bought a groupon on Thursday to have my haircut with Erin which was well needed. I called Del Sol Salon on Thursday afternoon and I was able to get a appt on Saturday at 10:00. I got a call at 9:30 on Saturday morning stating that Erin was running a little late. I showed up at 10:30, and I didn't have to wait very long before Erin took me back. She apologized for the wait as I was ok with it. Erin was so nice, she took time on my hair and cut it the exact way I wanted it. She styled it so cute, and I've never been so happy about my hair.
