Absolutely love it here! Driving up the the salon your in a cute little area with lots of small stores and food places. Definitely somewhere fun to walk around after. The location is easy to get to and there's a parking lot right behind it. When you first walk in you right feel welcomed and comfortable, the staff is friendly and is very clean. The salon is neat and decorated very nicely. There's a lovely aesthetic feel to the place. Everyone is in masks and gloves and social distancing is enforced which is great to keep customers safe. Today I came in to do coloring on my never been dyed before virgin hair! It's safe to say I was nervous, so nervous because again I have never done anything to my hair before. Complete virgin hair. And I was making a huge decision coming in to color it. Luckily Thania did an amazing job! I went from having brown natural hair to having a lighter purple feel. She walked me through every step if the process so I knew exactly what was going on the entire time. I appreciated that since it was my first time doing any type of dye or color. I love Verita! I have been a client of Genevie for a very long time and I will continue to return. When I walk in the receptionist is always very helpful. Everyone is sweet and the staff is quick to ask if I need any refreshments. Genevie always makes sure that I always have my coffee ready when I walk in the door! I love her service. I went in recently wanting something new but wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Genevie really helped me figure out a new hairstyle and figure out a great color to go with my skin tone. Came in about a week ago to get a balayage and I had the best experience ever! I had gone to a different salon that left my hair horrible and Michiko did the best job EVER at blending and fixing my hair into a beautiful ash honey brown. As I walked in I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful, clean, and neat the salon is. They even have coffee, tea, and pastries for their clients. The staff was all super friendly and welcoming. Second visit here and I am more than happy with my hair! Angelica is truly amazing The first time I came here was to fix what I had done to my hair myself (bleach in box). Angelica gave me a beautiful blonde balayage and got rid of all the orange. My second visit was to fix the brassy-ness I developed and to fix my super dark roots. I had an appointment scheduled for Thursday afternoon that I scheduled over a month in advance. That was canceled on the Sunday afternoon prior by text message from the stylist Michele. I responded back and asked if someone could reach out to me to reschedule. That night at 9pm I received a phone call from Beth another stylist. I didn't answer the call because of the hour she called. I called her back at 10 am Monday morning to set up my rescheduled appointment. And she then told me she wasn't able to do my hair it was to long!!! I then reached out to the owner of the salon Elsah to give me a call to reschedule my appointment and she called back Monday at 1pm, and also said she couldn't do my hair that all her clients have received sent to Michele. And refused to reschedule my appointment. Absolutely awful experience!!! I would have been able to get my hair done over a month ago if I had none none of them were able to get it done for me in the first place. This was a hair appointment for my 10 year wedding anniversary!!! And they said oh well, this is normal for our salon. read more

Yelp deleted my initial review so here is my updated review. Verita is a cute salon located in downtown Monrovia. Each time I have visited Verita I've always had a pleasant time. Once you walk in the receptionist will offer you a drink and when your stylist is ready, (my lovely stylist is Genevie) you'll be sent to their changing room where you put on their robe so your clothes don't get ruined in the process (isn't that thoughtful?) Ok on to the good stuff, Genevie is always so sweet and understanding. She will listen to your needs and help achieve them. It's always a good time visiting Genevie because she's funny to talk to and when you're having fun, time flies by and poof you're done. You now have hair girls envy. After getting my hair destroyed by another salon I made a last minute appointment to get my hair colored and cut at Verita. They were so accommodating on the phone they took me in right away, when I got to the salon I was very impressed with how beautiful and clean the place was. The staff was very nice but not FAKE. The hair stylist I had knew exactly what to do with my hair for the color and when it came to the cut all I told her is I want an updated look and that is EXACTLY what I got! After countless failed haircuts at fobby Asian salons, I was referred to Genevie. At first, I played it super safe with trims and styled bangs. This time I wanted a bigger change and asked Gen to ombré my hair. I definitely was not disappointed. Gen is so considerate and even does her research to give you the best options possible. She takes her time while washing, cutting, and coloring your hair. She's so fun and easy to talk to. Time flies. But seriously, when Gen washes your hair, it is amazing. Talk about headgasm. I was very hesitant about dying my hair blonde but, she was very helpful and actually listens to what you want. I have only ever been here once, but it was great! I went in to dye my hair (for the very first time ever!) and my hair came out better than I ever expected. I got my hair done with Genevie. She is amazing. Super chill and great hair stylist. I have to completely disagree with the previous reviewer's comments about not being welcomed and the staff not being helpful. I try to make an appointment every 6 weeks with my daughter for cut and color. I don't think I have ever been more pleased with a salon and the service. Everyone is so accommodating and helpful and they don't look at you only as a customer. I have never had a problem getting an appointment and the reminder calls that they make are so helpful! Friendly staff, great location and I love how my hair looks. You can't beat that! I cannot recommend Verita enough. 5+ star rating from me! read more

I finally found a place to go when I'm in need of a "Fix me up" day. The salon itself is upscale with a warm and welcoming vibe. They even provide cute little pastries, coffee and tea. The staff there is pleasant and don't ignore you when you walk in like other places. I'm beyond fortunate to find a top notch hair stylist (Genevie) I struggled so many years to find the right hair color, hair cut and most importantly someone who understands what I want. In the past, I had numerous ladies do my hair but they end up either making my hair brassy or choppy. In particular, with Asian hair, it's very hard to go blonde. However, she was able to get it exactly how I wanted it. Another factor that keeps me committed to her is how considerate and genuine she is. It's very very hard to find good customer service. Oh and did I mentioned...? She worked for well known people in the entertainment industry in the past and gotten featured on a magazine. Okay, lets just start from the moment you walk in. Very pretty salon, theres usually a girl at the front desk ready to greet you. Every time I go I always go with Connie! LOVE her work. She's all about making her clients happy. She literally did my process of having dark black hair to blonde! She even did some pink during the process (Yeah I know right lol) Every time I wanted to change or add anything to my hair, she'll do it. But always saved my hair from any breakage or damage. Not too impressed. I was so excited because I read good yelp reviews about Genevive. I went inside and she sat me down for about 5 minutes and she quoted me $150 for full balayage and it would only take her 2.5 hours. I said ok, lets do it and I set a date for 2 weeks later. After she "wrote my name" down, she said "I usually ask for a $50 DEPOSIT for balayage treatments" I said sorry I don't have $50 right now, I did not budget for that, hence why I'm coming in a few weeks. I said, I can come back in about 4 days and pay you the $50. She seemed nice and said sure, I went home and thought about it.. A DEPOSIT FOR A HAIR TREATMENT...Seriously? I asked coworkers and family what their thoughts were and they said that is ridiculous. So, I decided not to go with her and out of courtesy I called the salon to cancel. The receptionist said my name wasn't in the book..huh.. This place seems too fishy and money hungry to me. Try Belisima's about a block away, they seem to have decent yelp reviews. read more

The venue is clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I get my hair done by Aubrey and I love when you can trust your stylist to just make decisions for you and you come out looking FABULOUS! This place is wonderful. I've been here quite a few times with my girlfriend but only this a few weeks ago did I go for myself. I all ready knew that this place was very clean and trendy and beautiful and that the staff takes care of you from the moment you walked in the door, but I got to experience the amazing work of these great stylists, well, one in particular: Genevie. Genevie is amazing. I literally had no idea what to do with my hair except that i wanted some kind of bangs and for it to be different. Genevie created a very cute sweetheart cut with side bangs and layers and she is an absolute perfectionist as well as very sweet. The second time I came in was for my Christmas gift my girlfriend gave me which was a Brazilian Blowout. Now, I had thought I had gotten this done before but when the straightness of the hair becomes mad wavy and crazy as it had been prior even after purchasing and using diligently the expensive brazilian shampoo and hair masque only a WEEK after the process, I've come to realize that this was not a real brazilian blowout. So I was skeptical. Genevie totally blew my skepticism away. The process took a very long time, but Genevie was very attentive, made sure that I was comfortable and brought me things to read as well as made sure that the chemicals weren't bothering my sensitive eyes. The end product was amazing, my hair is straight and actually manageable and I absolutely love it. It has been OVER a week now and my hair is the same, just as straight and easy to manage and so much more classy than it was prior. I highly recommend going to Genevie, she is a very talented hair stylist.
