What a beautiful secluded country house hotel this is! Just off a busy motorway lies a world of tranquility. a truly wonderful place, I stayed there for a night and availed of the leisure facilities, I had a back massage which was very soothing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful interiors, thick wooden doors, lovely spiral strairway that leads down into the dining room area. Outside jacuzzi! Bathouse where you can avail of seaweed & peat Bath, facials etc. They have a great selection of treatments for a weary body! This is generally a very pricey hotel, but I purchased a one night offer & treatment from BoardsDeals, so this made the night considerably cheaper! Very relaxing and tranquil atmosphere :)

Oddly enough, Bellinter House was the most expensive Hotel I stayed at during my Ireland trip. Nearly 100 Euro more than more exotic locations such as the Cliff House in Ardmore including breakfast and dinner service. It was also the most stylish and packed with great amenities and helpful staff. There's free wi-fi which unlike many hotels in Ireland actually extends to the room. The bathroom is awesome and the bed very comfy. The downsides: Hot water. I don't know why a lot of Irish hotels have this problem, but the water was never more than lukewarm. It's also expensive. In USD nearly $450 per night with dinner and breakfast (which is a set menu and quite good). The TV shut off and I would have to physically hit the power switch on the TV to reset it every 15 minutes. Finally for this price in a renovated mansion hotel, it would be nice to have some control over the heaters. Pros: -Nice setting. -Lots of amenities. -Great food. -Nice staff. -Excellent ambiance. -Free in-room wi-fi. Cons: -TV was not functioning properly. -Lack of hot water. -Pricey.

This place is special. The drive from Dublin is short and scenic, and the countryside around the hotel is beautiful.

With our room booking we received day passes to Tayto Park, Dublin Zoo and Funtasia Waterpark for a very reasonable. The hotel is located a short drive from Ashbourne town which is a great place to pop in for a meal with plenty of really good restaurants. The hotel also has a nice selection of dishes on their al a carte menu as well as a buffet. We dined in he second night from the buffet and found the food to be excellent, especially the desserts which included beautiful profiteroles filled with creme patisserie (not cream which is a sin) and a wedge of cheese cake which was light and delicious, melting in the mouth making you feel like having a second one would not hurt the waist line too much. Every member of staff from the cleaning staff to duty managers always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello and you are really made feel at home while staying there. The rooms are warm, comfortable and modern making each night after a hectic day a joy to return to. The hotel ensures that all guests are catered for especially the children with nightly activities organised for all the family which included a kids disco and bingo. We attended the kids disco with DJ Richie B who really entertained the kids giving out prizes and covering children with snow from his snow machine while playing frozen songs. I could go on and on but to sum everything up this is a fantastic hotel with fantastic staff in a fantastic location. We loved it and will definitely be back.

It had an in - room kettle tea/coffee biscuits, a tv that was a bit of a challenge to get to work and it was so quiet. So the tv is tuned to open at a menu featuring N'flix and it took a minute to realise I had to click along several boxes to reach the tv icon so it's no longer simple just to put on the tv. Our deal included dinner. We had a one course main so opted to pay €7.5 up charge for 10oz sirloins. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Each main included chips, but we held one back as we knew we simply wouldn't eat that much food and we really dislike food waste. While they had English mustard they didn't have the finest - Colman's. Breakfast was pretty good particularly if you are sausage bacon and egg inclined. Most of my breakfast was made from scratch and tasty. There's no fresh fruit, no cold meats, no fish (I realise this is my first visit and the owners will know what works at breakfast and I've been in higher star hotels that don't offer fish) and the mini croissants and mini chocolate croissants do really need re thought and upgraded. I'm aware too that myopic politicians in the country are deliberately punishing small hotels, outside the capital, by taxing hospitality to give the multi national hotel operators a punch in the nose for mercenary price gouging much of which is disgraceful. All the staff were genuinely friendly and the hotel environment was delightful. Hope to return.

Couldn't get away from the place quick enough. Walked into the carvery at 12.26pm and 6-8 staff stood at the other end of the room. Carvery doesn't open till 12.30pm and I'm not sure how it works - do I seat myself? Do I get seated? No idea. And if I hadn't shouted down the restaurant at the staff, I'd still be standing there none the wiser. I'd been reassured by the woman at the front desk that their carvery was 'the best,' the meat was delicious and juicy, but beyond that it was rough going. Breakfast wasn't much better - and again, no one was particularly helpful about how the system worked. Lots of staff, just not very helpful. Room was absolutely freezing (in May!). There was a bright light from a corridor across the alleyway beaming into the room all night, and the walls were paper thin so it was loud all night, the room phone kept making an audible dial tone so I had to disconnect it. For the price, I wasn't thrilled at all.

The hotel was pretty crammed, particularly on the Saturday night, with several birthdays, at least one baby shower party and a wedding. Our room was comfortable, overlooking a garden. The staff we met were kind to us and very helpful throughout our stay and we are a demanding bunch; service was friendly and prompt particularly with the birthday cake delivered two nights running after our main meals. They lit candles, they joined in singing happy birthday (like every other guest around us on both nights) and they even took photos for us on our phones, served up slices of birthday cake and kept the cake refrigerated to keep it good. I can't name every staff member, but if the hotel could bottle the guy who sang in the bar Saturday night, who had the whole place singing, and Julianna the cheery waitress they'd make a fortune from their respective talents. On our first night nine of us dined in the restaurant and we all enjoyed our food & drinks. I stayed vegetarian for evening meals for no good reason that I can think of, and my starter of goat cheese fritters (3) with poached pear & leaves was really superb as was the brown bread and I think the other bread was an onion bread. I had a ravioli main which was ok but I found the ravioli too thick and the filling too thin for my liking. It would be a much better meal if the ratio was reversed with the pumpkin filling properly seasoned and generous with some salt and fresh sage in the filling that would help too. On night two the restaurant was booked out so we all had the bar food and all of the meals were superb. I had a linguine main that was really tasty with delicious Tiger beer on draught - haven't seen that beer on draught for a long time. The breakfast food was very good too and Julianna kept us well - served with tea, coffee, food and precious laughter each morning. I had some minor niggles during my stay. I raised them with the manager and was satisfied with how he courteously handled my pickiness. Hotel check - out was as smooth as check - in and all in all we departed happy and just like our birthday girl, all of us another two days older.

We had one castle room and one carriage room for our stay. Both rooms were quaint and well maintained. The gardens around the property are gorgeous and wonderful to explore during nice weather. The only thing to note is that in off-season the main restaurant is only open on the weekends and the tea service is not available during the week. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area. Most of the activities are off the property which wasn't very clear as we approached the date of our stay. We ended up visiting the National Stud Farm (about 30 minutes drive) and the clay pigeon shooting (about 40 minutes drive). Highly recommend both activities and really appreciate the staff helping us arrange these activities. The downstairs bar area is open late with a delicious charcuterie and board games are available to use by the fireplace which was a fun way to spend the later evening hours. Highly recommend staying at Kilkea Castle Hotel!
