The furnishings and designs are things you would expect to see in films. My favorite rooms were probably the Bottlery (wine room) and The Buttery (the kitchen). Their castle dog, Ri, was super adorable and roamed around as if he owns the place. Some castles can feel intimidating but this place felt very intimate and homey. Every member of staff from the cleaning staff to duty managers always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello and you are really made feel at home while staying there. The vent won't turn off in the bathroom if the light is on which is annoying if you like to leave the light on. The bed was very comfortable but the doors slam every time you come in so I am sure that disturbs neighbors. Overall decent place.

Further, the people working here seemed a bit downtrodden and less friendly than the other hotels I have stayed in Ireland. I think this place would be better rated as a 3 star hotel in its current state, but with a bit more love and care, I can see this hotel being restored back to its original glory.
