Absolutely worst and I mean worst moving company ever. My fiance used them three times prior without ever an issue.... Not this time. Prior to us moving we found out that they contract long distance moves to a third party driver and only provide the manpower...Not what was told to us during our booking. Our day was set up for March 24th, 2022. At 8:00 a.m. They guarenteed it would be to it's destination by the 31st. Bellhops called a few days prior to ask if the driver could get there on the 1st instead.....Didnt really have a choice, so we agreed.  That morning, Three out of the four movers showed up, and the owner of the moving truck showed up a little earlier then them. Everything started out good and they were professional in uniform, with a great personality. They began to move our stuff fast and took care. About an hour later the 4th individual showed up look like he just rolled out of bed with no uniform on and looked like he hadn't showered in a few days. This particular gentleman did barely any work. Let the other three move everything around while he huffed and puffed and sat around most of the time doing a poor shrink wrap job on tiny pieces of furniture. The gentleman then decided about an hour into helping move all our stuff into the truck that he was going to light up a joint and smoke pot on the front of our property. Now while it is legal in the state we moved from, our realtor and buyer were supposed to show up at any given time. And just because it's legal doesn't mean it's okay to do that on somebody's property.  Things started to get slightly worse in the afternoon. The movers started to slack off and take their time....Pieces of furniture we're not being wrapped properly and they were starting to be careless with boxes and furniture. They did not have enough shrink wrap, so I had to run to U-Haul and buy it out of my own pocket. They had no dolly, and a huge Tangled ball of straps that they used to strap our stuff into the truck. What really took the cake this day was that my wife had medication that was taken out of the kitchen drawer, deliberately. Even after we bought them lunch, tipped them and helped them move to make it easier. At the end of the first day the truck got loaded, and we came out to the driver  pulling away without even locking the back door!  The arrival was FAR worse. The truck was on time at 11am, however the 4 workers that were supposed to be there at  11....didn't show up on time. Instead only 3 workers showed up, and they all showed up 45 min late, without warning.   We had our stuff put into a storage unit,.because we are buying a house. According to the very nice people at the units, the workers showed up...yet again disheveled, not uniform, and we're climbing the fence to get into the unit, rather then call or go to the office. The movers also gave the site staff issues multiple times prompting them to call us ... We had to get a second storage unit, because the workers didn't pack the unit correctly. So this is now costing us an additional $300 a month due to their sloppy, half done work. Had it been packed properly we could have done with one unit....instead, they just threw out stuff into the unit, put heavy boxes on top of fragile and Glass. We had boxes marked with orange tape that we made our long distance coordinator FULLY AWARE, needed to be put in the front of the unit. Not a single box was put into the front of the unit.  Between the loading, unloading and transit....damaged approximately $10,000 worth of our stuff .We had to spend two days unpacking the unit, going through every box, taking photos and repacking the unit. Defeating the whole purpose of hiring movers. What was Bellhops response? They are still giving us a run around with claims and beating around the bush. Our "claim" was supposed to take 1-3 days....it's been well over that. Now on April 21st, it's been almost a month of dealing with this company. We called, and tried to handle this with our long distance coordinator however he just went MIA...so we called and filed complaint after complaint. Got a different person every single time. Kept getting told...someone will call us back. Someone will get back to us. Having to explain ourselves every time. Absolutely disgusting customer service. No one is on the same page and the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. After calling 15 +times and constantly keeping on top of them, we were refunded approximately $900 for the inconveniences. We filed a claim with more then 60 photos....however our "claim" settle offer was a whopping $995, which we don't agree with. They don't replace or repair, they reimburse based on "weight".... 1000000% an absolute joke of a company. They may be great for short moves, but not for long ones. We will continue to fight to get reimbursed for the damages, the service we paid for that was a joke and the time we have wasted with Bellhops.... ITS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!!!! read more

It's so surreal that I can't even describe it in words. Scheduled the appointment 3 weeks prior to my moving, just to get a call 2 days before "letting me know" they won't be able to do it. When I asked if they couldn't reallocate other employees, they said they pick the priority base on their estimate of cost, meaning they just dumped the clients they feel they won't make enough money. Now I am rushing and probably going to spend more money hiring a company 1 day before my move! Honestly, moving is already stressful, you will want a reliable company on your side. read more

Booked Bellhop more than two months before my move and out of nowhere, they cancelled less than 1 month before the move was scheduled. They offered no reason, no alternative dates, no support at all. Booking a new mover less than a month out was almost impossible and more costly. Save yourself the trouble and the money and keep looking. Bellhop is unprofessional and unreliable. read more

We had a terrible experience with this moving company. Long story short, they didn't record our information correctly, which resulted in them cancelling our move 15 minutes before they were supposed to show up. Their solution was to come a different day, but we had already moved cross-country and bought moving permits for the city we were in and only had our moving truck for that day, so we ended up having to move everything up to our fourth floor walk-up ourselves. If you want a bit more details... Their call center is extremely confusing with different people giving you different policies. When I called for information, I had reassurances that the move we wanted was do-able and they gave me a quote. I called back to book it was a different person who turned around and changed the price, amount of time and amount of people because of their "policies" when none of the information I gave them changed. I needed some time to think and talk to my roommate, so I hung up and called back again the next day. The person I talked to said they could do what the first originally promised. Fast forward to the day before my move when I called for confirmation/to see if a very minor change was possible. I came to find out that they recorded my original information wrong and that they would need a longer period of time (which I did not want but it was their policy). This person promised to call me back before the end of the day if there were any issues, but I did not hear from them. I did hear from my mover, so I thought all was fine. As mentioned before, I got a call 15 minutes before our move saying that the person I talked to the day before had taken one of the movers off the job (without my knowledge or consent). The woman who called had no prior knowledge as to why since apparently no one takes notes at this company and pass you along to the next and next and next person. Ana was the rep and she was the only helpful person there - she tried her best to get another mover out for us but everything was working against her since it was so last minute. They did refund our deposit, but we had to move everything ourselves which went against why we hired movers in the first place. I went against my gut when the call center gave inconsistent and confusing information and booked anyways - don't make my same mistake or you'll be like us with time wasted and a sore back. read more

Read other reviews on Google - they seem to have a scam operating. They call right before your move to say the "truck broke down". I thought it was just us but apparently happens a lot! Do not use if your schedule move date is at all important to you! We scheduled our move weeks in advance and paid a deposit. Bellhop hounded us with calls and e-mails to make sure WE were prepared for the move (everything packed and disassembled). I even got a confirmation text the night before from my move lead. The next thing I know, they call us 3 hours before our scheduled move time to say they had truck issues and can't come for another THREE DAYS. Our entire apt was packed!! Not to mention I'm already 3 weeks from my due date - love the added stress. No apologies from anyone I talked to. They said the only solution is for me to go get my own uhaul and the helpers would still come. The second person I talked to at HQ couldn't even confirm this and everyone kept saying they had to "confirm and call me back". I NEVER got a single call back. I had to keep calling in between trying to find another last minute moving company. They are a sham of a company. I can't warn you enough to NOT use them as your movers!!!! read more

Scheduled weeks in advance of my move date. Their website claims a stress-free and reliable moving experience, but the reality was anything but! Less than 12 hours before my scheduled move time (late evening prior to moving, I should add), I get a call from their unapologetic customer support that they cannot find me a truck for my morning move the following day. Their weak alternative was to reschedule my move to a time slot a couple of days later or a week later, which for anyone moving, knows is never an option. The other suggestion they had was for me to procure the truck by renting a U Haul then using just their mover for labor. Great, now I have to plan a U Haul pick up and drop off as well. On top of all this, my two movers were not even guaranteed for the following day! I had a really restless night with the tentative plan of renting a U Haul and trying to make it work. The next morning, I get another call that in fact only one mover was available and I still had to get a U Haul. I cancelled at that point and started calling other companies for last minute moving. Their service model is complete crap. No reason to use them over established moving companies in the Boston area with movers, drivers, and trucks on hand. Avoid x1000! Their reply to this review will say they have high standards, reliability and are apologetic about the poor experience. Hogwash!!! Do not even think about giving them your business! It is not worth the small savings you get in hiring through Bellhops. read more

If there was an option for zero stars I would give it. I cant even begin to describe the disaster that was yesterday. Similar to other reviewers, I booked my move over 2 weeks in advance and received multiple emails/texts making sure I was ready. My team lead showed up on time for my 8am move but immediately expressed concern that he hadn't been able to get in contact with the driver that day or the day before (this wasn't communicated to me until 8:15 on move day). When he did get in contact with the driver, the driver said he was not on the schedule and wasn't contracted to come. Fast forward 15 minutes later and customer care calls me to tell me "a truck broke down and they don't have any other options" - clearly unaware that I had the full story. They then tell me that I can reschedule for tomorrow. For those of you that live in a city like Boston, you know that you have to obtain and pay for a parking permit for a moving truck with the city two weeks in advance, so rescheduling for tomorrow is not an option - not taking into account the fact that I took off work, had packing crates rented that needed to be returned, and had a cable appointment that day. Needless to say, I had to book a same day move with another company that cost me over double my bellhop cost (because of the rush), will need to pay to extend my packing crates, & bellhop is offering "$150 as compensation for my added expenses & frustration" - which doesn't come close to covering the hard cost or any "frustration". Whether I get that and my deposit back is still to be determined. The team that actually showed up was nice and professional, but that doesn't make up for the fact that they couldnt complete the service and the backup options corporate offered were in no way acceptable. If you've made it this far and your schedule is important to you - DO NOT MOVE FORWARD WITH BELLHOP MOVING. read more

Just tried this service for the first time last week and was really glad I found it. Perfect if you're willing to drive your own moving vehicle and just need to hire a few strong people to move your stuff at a low price. $40/hr/person (and fully insured) so I got two guys, David and Matt, for about 2 hours. They were super nice and very efficient. I also really liked that you only get charged for the time you use, not the time you reserve. read more

There is an app they use to keep track of time that sends you a text exactly when they start and stop, so easy to track! I wish I read the below reviews. I booked bellhop through redfin as our realtors recommended them. TERRIBLE IDEA. We booked the move weeks in advance and they sent numerous emails telling us to be ready and this and that. The day of the move arrives and the movers arrived and then 20 mins go by and they then alert us that they are having issues with the truck. they called the truck driver and he said he was refusing to come. The Bellhop representative then suggested renting a uhaul but no one could drive a TRUCK UHAUL as no one has a class C drivers license. The next earliest move date was 6 days after our original one. we ended up cancelling our move and are using another company instead that has their stuff together. I then spent over an hour on hold trying to get a representative to refund me for the hold deposit put on my credit card. avoid avoid avoid this company if you actually want movers who show up with a truck and do the job they are scheduled to do. read more

I'm always moving, have been trying to find the perfect place to live happily ever after. I'm not doing very well with it though, but finding the perfect movers has been a challenge too. I just moved to my apartment, but nothing was in the place that I wanted it to be. I looked at Groupon for a deal! Sure enough I found it. Two men for 11/2 hours plus a additional I think %10 percent off if I was to purchase it on that day. $56 and I had two men! The experience of dealing with this company is really something to brag about. They were extremely flexible with working with me. I had to change my day and thinking it probably had to be changed 24 hours advance notice I took the chance and called them on a Sunday. Sure enough someone answered, he had to call to make the arrangement with the local office. Not only did he promptly call me back but he also emailed. They also had all kind of tips for moving before my actual day. Their communication with me was like a breath of fresh air. On the day of my service from this movers, very promptly the actual guy who was going to come over called me to tell me they were on their way. They showed up few minutes before my schedule time. David and Mat were everything I'm always hoping to see in a mover. Clean, polite, none smoker and not creepy. I once had to turn away a moving company because of the movers putting a chill on my back. These two young men, although I had not paid them very much gave me their 100 percent plus. I didn't rent a truck because the move was just around the corner, so these guys schlepped all of my furniture down three flights of stairs, a block away, and up another two flights so quickly and efficiently. I had such a great first experience using Bellhops! I was super stressed about moving on Sept.1 (as I think everyone is) and I was worried that Bellhops would add to my stress in terms of them showing up on time, where to meet them, etc., but that was not the case at all! My Bellhop, Matt, was so helpful and fast! We loaded the car in no time in Allston and he biked to Beacon Hill and helped us unload.
