From the moment you walk in, the staff is absolutely amazing. They're welcoming, friendly, and actually take the time to talk with you, which makes the experience feel personal rather than just another night out. And if you're coming here just for the drinks--STOP! You absolutely have to try the food. The Ahi Nachos were the perfect way to start the night, and the Garlic Shrimp were just as delicious. Then came the drinks... and wow! We had a Zombie, and I also tried the Mai Tai, Serpent's Grasp, Bird of Paradise, and several SOS shots. Every single drink was fantastic. Of course, I had to buy the mug too! The ambiance is another huge part of what makes Strongwater special. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere completely transports you into the tiki experience. The only drawback is the two-hour time limit, but honestly, I understand it. They're trying to give everyone an opportunity to experience the place, and with how popular it is, it makes sense. Amazing food, incredible drinks, fantastic staff, and a perfectly executed atmosphere. Strongwater is easily one of the best tiki bars in Orange County--and definitely my favorite!

However, you don't always want to feel like you're trying too hard to change your scenery, bumping you too far out of your comfort zone. The answer my friends, is the good old classic American dive bar. Now, many places like to call themselves a dive bar just because they never clean a single inch of their establishment and have seedy patrons that love to play the more than occasional 80's songs on the jukebox but don't be mistaken, a good dive bar is hard to find. Well, I happen to have found one and it's in Fullerton of all places. That's right, Fullerton, not Los Angeles, nor Hollywood nor some pop-culturally over-hyped city. What makes The Blue Door a good dive bar? First, there's earned consistency & routine. The drinks won't always be made well, or the bartender won't always be attentive but if you come a few times, you'll soon know at what time and day the drinks are made properly by knowing the schedules of the bartenders. Secondly, the drinks are stiff, the service is friendly and nobody bothers you unless you bother them. The atmosphere goes from lively and loud to quiet and solitary, again depending upon when you visit. Lastly, they're open from 6:00AM-2:00AM. They're not just there when the hipsters are around, they're there for you whenever you make the bad decision of using alcohol as an anesthetic. Stay searching for the last remains of Americana my friends....

The Blind Rabbit has been on my Yelp to-do list for a few years now, and I finally made it happen…read more I love a good speakeasy, but so many places claim the title and miss the mark. This one absolutely nailed it. Reservations are required, and they're usually booked up, so I'd missed my chance in the past by remembering too late. This time I was on a solo trip and managed to snag a spot by booking early in the morning. It happened to be the last night of their Great Gatsby theme, and they executed it perfectly, from the details to the overall atmosphere. I love that they rotate themes instead of sticking with the same setup every time; it keeps things exciting and gives people a reason to keep coming back. The drinks and food were both top-notch. Every single person I interacted with- bartenders, servers, and hosts- was amazing, super friendly, and helpful. Can't wait to go back and see what the next theme brings.

The Blind Rabbit is no doubt a very neat place and definitely an experience, but the reason for my…read moreone star is because my friend and I were treated absolutely terribly by one of the bartenders. We were there on Sunday, October 3rd around 3pm. We asked who the owners were because we were really impressed with the place and thought they might be the same owners as another location we had visited. There was absolutely no bad intention behind the question. The male bartender told us that no one name drops anymore. I understood what he was saying and was more than willing to move on. But then I asked him if the bar offered whiskey sours and he responded, "You really don't know what you're doing here and what you want." I was honestly so taken back by that comment. I don't normally stay quiet when someone speaks to me disrespectfully, but I was so caught off guard that I didn't even know what to say. Before that, he had also yelled out to the host that she didn't need to worry because we didn't know the owners and that she could relax. The whole interaction was completely unnecessary and made us feel very uncomfortable. We came in wanting to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. There is a way to speak to customers, even if you feel they are asking questions you don't like. We did nothing to deserve that kind of attitude. The Blind Rabbit may be a great place, but unfortunately, the way we were treated by this bartender completely ruined the experience for us. Customer service matters, and unfortunately, ours was extremely disappointing.
