Once again, I am absolutely enchanted by my experience at Bella Green (city center exclusive, the other locations have been hit or miss in recent months). I entertain out of town friends frequently and my number 1 restaurant to let them enjoy is Bella Green. I'm gonna steal this from their about us section because frankly it's truly delightful to happen upon a dining establishment that knows what in-house means, "...every item is made from scratch in our kitchen, we can modify most items to align with Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegetarian, Keto, paleo, Whole 30 and other dietary needs or preferences." WOW. Some of my friends can be real snobs, and Bella Green has each one of them excited for a return trip. Food Quality - 5/5 Unquestionably consistent with flavor, portion sizes, and plating, Bella Green has delivered on their mission statement of "We believe that every meal is a chance to make life & Earth more beautiful." The number of, as the kids these days would say "Grammable" plates is limitless. Typically I begin with the GOAT CHEESE SALAD which contains mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes, sliced apples, and shaved parmesan cheese. World class choices for such a vibrantly flavored dish. But then it's tossed with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette (I so wish they would let me have this recipe) and finally topped with a warm almond-crusted goat cheese medallion. The choice of ingredients shows a mastery of flavor on the end of the chef and menu writers, the light spice and crunch from the mixed greens, sweetness of the apples, sweet-tart profile of the tomatoes, and saltiness of the Parmesan intermingle with the light and sincerely orgasmic vinaigrette, to make a salad that has captivated my taste buds time and time again. To continue my meal I usually order the BRICK CHICKEN (a rugged name for an enthralling dish full of flavor). It's a marinated boneless chicken sautéed to crisp perfection, garnished with lemons & rosemary and with a side of their chipotle mashed sweet potatoes & roasted vegetables. The chicken is moist and tender it's almost melt in your mouth if it wasn't so delightfully crisp on the outside. The juxtaposition of textures dancing playfully on my tongue with the flavors of creamy spiced chipotle mash or roasted veg in every bite can really leave me "bricked up" as my son says. Now I'll be frank, if It was socially acceptable to order a plate full of just those goat cheese medallions? I'd be in HEAVEN. But Bella Greens Fast Casual style of dining will have to suffice ;) Service 5/5 It's a fast casual establishment, a modern take on an ancient industry, and I love how Bella Green wears it. The waitstaff are beyond welcoming every dine-in, and the handful of times I had to pick-up a quick bite they were just so accommodating. The staff are always clean, neat and present themselves professionally in a food-safe environment (something extremely lacking in numerous other locations if I'm being picky) and they consistently demonstrate passing knowledge of the menu, when probed for information. Overall, they expedite and improve upon the experience that is "Bella Green", Closing thoughts, I find myself returning to Bella Green with such a relaxed mindset. If I get bored of my usual, I feel elated and safe that I would not be led astray in ordering something new. Their seasonal options have yet to disappoint, their pizzas are almost on par with Italian trattorias, and sandwiches are in my humble opinion better than any delicatessen iv been to. The light and easy but comfortably fast casual environment they have birthed is so uniquely Bella Green I don't know what else to say, besides I'll be back from my weekly visit sooner than I think every time! read more

Last night must have been an off night. We have been regulars for a long time. The restaurant was a bit sleepy so I was surprised that they missed one of our orders. It took two trips back to the register to inquire about my sons food before he finally gets his food when the rest of us are pretty much done. The manager did come by to apologize, but for a slow night it should have been better. read more

Was taken here for a birthday party (mine). It's interesting. First off it's order at the counter and seat yourself. No wait service in this place. So for a large group it was good for billing purposes, but not so much when you were sitting in the middle of a booth and wanted another drink. (Can everyone slide out so I can go get a drink or order food) :( The staff didn't even come by to collect plates that were finished until we stacked them all up and sat them at the end of the table. The food was actually really good. This is the one saving grace for me. I had the hummus to start and the veggie burger. Both were very good when they finally got the right order (wrong the first time - don't give a veggie girl a turkey burger - boooo) But the sweet potato fries were not fresh - made ahead and luke warm & soft :( And I love my sweet potato fries!! So I'm really not sure if I'd go back. But maybe with less people. You just can't get it wrong in Houston when there are sooooo many good places to go!! read more

Damn, this place is so bad. I don't understand why people come in. Mac & cheese was awful. Salad wasn't even up to par. Turkey burger was a fail. Still can't believe the Mac & cheese was that bad. Someone once said that Houston is the most under rated food city. After coming here, I'm doubting that. If I could return my food I would. read more

I've been to Ruggles Green a few times at this location. I came here for lunch recently Sunday, and the line was long but moved pretty quickly. There are plenty of seats inside, but I chose to eat outside on a pretty day. The ordering style is similar to McAlisters or Panera Bread. You order off the menu, and they give you a numbered tracking device. It is self-serve for utensils, fountain drinks/tea, and sauces. We ordered the All Natural Buffalo Burger, Steak Salad, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. All Natural Buffalo Burger (3/5): My friend ordered this. I only took a bite of this with the sweet potato fries. It was my first time trying buffalo - much healthier. Steak Salad (3/5): This is the second salad I tried from here. It was from their daily specials, not on the regular menu. It contains mixed greens, 6oz flank steak, tomatoes, red onions, boiled eggs, avocado, cheese, and bacon. The mango sauce was exquisite, not too sweet - just delicious. Overall, I liked this salad, just was disappointed at first. I wanted my steak medium rare... Not well-done. White Chocolate Bread Pudding (4/5): Ruggles Green is known for this. Try it! Presentation is great as well. I just wish they can give you an extra scoop of ice cream. All desserts are $7. Overall, decent food and beer selection. It's more of a lunch place. I would recommend trying other restaurants for dinner. It is located in the heart of City Centre, next to Kendra Scott or Straits. read more

Omg. The food is so so tasty. I had the fish tacos. Soooo filling too. For dessert I had the white chocolate bread pudding --Yuuuum. Nader, the manager, is soooo incredibly hospitable and concerned with his customers! I loved everything about my lunch experience! read more

Walked up and the area was packed. Parked a few blocks away. I was expecting a long line, long wait, and limited tables. We ordered in five minutes, received food as a party of 3 promptly and there were plenty of tables indoors since everyone was outside on the lawn listening to live music. We had hempanadas*, fish tacos, crab and shrimp pasta, white chocolate bread pudding and brownie. Coffee too. All were good and cleared off table in no time. All in all a good experience. I would come back. read more

I generally have good experiences at Ruggles restaurants but was quite disappointed with my food on this visit. It has been a couple of years since I'd eaten at this location but opted to go ahead and eat here despite it being "family central". There were loads of families with small kids enjoying dinner which was nice because family-friendly restaurants can be hard to come by for those in need. But on a Saturday night, it wasn't the vibe I really wanted to deal with. It basically works like this...grab a menu, walk-up to the counter and order, get your beverage, then seat yourself. There is a tip jar at the register if you want to leave a little something. Otherwise, tipping isn't necessary. Someone will bring you your food. I ordered the Cuban panini and sweet potato fries. My friend chose the quinoa mac n cheese and a side of sweet potato fries. My sandwich was a spin on the traditional Cuban. It was made with sliced meat, cheese, poblano peppers and red onions instead of classic mustard, pickles, cheese, and pork that I've grown to love. Although clearly freshly made as evidenced by the steam that came out when I opened the bun, it was just plain blah! It had practically no flavor and was very dry. I had to ask for a side of BBQ sauce just to get it down. The fries were a huge disappointment too. Even though we had plentiful servings, they were lukewarm, dry, and quickly turned cold! I noticed my friend, who rarely adds seasoning to her food, grabbing for the salt and pepper a few time for the mac n cheese. She said it tasted good be was a bit under-seasoned over all. There is no way I could review this place without commenting on the bathroom. Theirs is a unique set-up. It's one big space with two doors for women and two doors for men. There is one large basin with two sinks for hand washing and a shared, large mirror. The most frustrating thing is the space itself. On busy days, after washing your hands, there is no place for you to comfortably reapply makeup or fix your hair. I ended up putting on my lipstick outside of the bathroom just to get out of the way. Considering how "family-oriented" this place has become, I don't think this is the ideal set-up at all. It's difficult to tell if the individual stalls are occupied or where the line begins/ends. Because of all that I've expressed, if I return, it won't be on a Saturday night. read more

I had been here several times and this location might be the my favorite location since there are two patios in this location. I pretty much tried pizza, salads and some desert from the menu. The food were all pretty good. It's a simple dinning place with fair price. They also have more choices from the menu for the GF. Overall, if I am looking for a casual dinning with good food. This would be one of my selections. read more

A great location in Houston to stop for a compete mix of food from a healthy salad to pizza's. The food selection is good and ordering is easy and made fresh for you and then brought out to your table. As the weather was still warm we have taken a table outside which had pleasant views of the grass square in the centre and a water feature with other restaurants and shops near by. The atmosphere was very pleasant and everyone was out there having fun which was great and just help making a great evening. The food was brought out in a timely manner and the portion was fab for the money and much more than I expected. The taste of the food was amazing Well worth a visit read more

I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was very good. Service was great and the atmosphere was nice. This is my second visit. Recommend it.

One of my favorite restaurants! The staff is so friendly and personable! They always ask how I'm doing as I'm a regular at this location. Kat always goes above and beyond for me every time I come in. My to-go order is always ready before the scheduled time and is always perfect. read more

4.5 stars. Bellagreen, formerly Ruggles Green, is a healthy eating restaurant located in City Centre. If you're wondering why they've changed their name, it was for legal reasons. Since the restaurant is in the heart of City Centre, you can either park on the street (if you're able to find a spot) or in the parking structure which is close by. The interior is modern and clean with the type of look you would expect from a healthy eats spot. They also have a nice patio which overlooks a water fountain and artificial grassy area. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. I stopped by for lunch and had the grilled chicken restaurant which comes on a wheat bun with bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and a mango sauce. You get your choice of side: fries, sweet potato fries, or a third option which is escaping me. Condiments, including organic ketchup, are located near the soda machine. Service was friendly and the chicken sandwich was delicious. As were the fries. Since this is healthy eating, prices aren't the cheapest compared to other casual spots but you're paying for the quality ingredients. read more

So so so yummy. I ordered the spicy shrimp pasta and if I wasn't in public, I would have licked the bowl. There's outdoor sitting for those who aren't ready for indoor dining. Everyone I was with really enjoyed their salads. There's also a kids area in the back. Great spot for a nice date, meeting friends, or quick lunch. I will be returning! read more

We haven't eaten at this exact location, but we love Bellagreen in general and are going to this one this week. Bellagreen has an amazing menu, filled with healthy choices and gluten free/dairy free options. My whole family loves this place - including our kids. Update: We ate at this location last night, and it was an excellent experience - except - they don't accept cash and we did not have advance warning of this. It's very disappointing when businesses don't accept the only form of legal tender that is free to use. I hope they will choose to reverse this policy. Here are some reasons why they should. https://www.aclu.org/blog/privacy-technology/consumer-privacy/say-no-cashless-future-and-cashless-stores read more

Their bread pudding is like no other.. probably the best ever! .. but their Tres Leches is not as good .. 880% is wipped cream, and the tiny rest is the desert.. I felt like i was cheated when I saw it! If I'm going back, then its only for the bread pudding! read more

My friend and I were looking for a dinner option with greens / salad and stumbled upon Bellagreen on Yelp. It was just what we were looking for! You walk in, place your order at the counter, then take a seat. You are served your meal (and wine /beer) by taking a number to your table. We ordered the spinach salad with bacon vinaigrette and Margherita pizza to share, along with a glass of Meiomi Pinot Noir each. The food was sooooo good! The atmosphere / decor is clean, earthy/modern. I would definitely come here again if I return to Houston in the future. read more

The food was pretty perfect here but the staff was aloof and busy wit their own conversations was our overall experience at Bellagreen. We will begin with the food. The three things we ordered were the hummus, the arugula and goat cheese salad and Dave's pizza. All were fresh and so tasty. The salad is heaven. The ingredients melded together make a wonderful salad. I added grilled salmon and it made it even better. I love this salad!! The pizza was phenomenal as well. The ingredients were fresh, we did substitute pepperoni for ham, it was a great pizza. The hummus was tasty too. I did feel like it needed a bit more salt BUT I love salt so it could have been me. The pita has a spice on it that I really liked. All the flavors they added incorporated well with the hummus. All that said, the staff kinda stank. We had to ask for the appetizer, and only then did it come. The bathrooms were lacking attention and overall the staff seemed to care more about their conversations than customers. I'd definitely go back because I loved the food. I'm hoping it was just an off day for the staff. read more

If its vegetarian and organic, it must be healthy, right?! Thats what I told myself when I was indulging my face in the spinach artichoke dip with flat bread! Did I mention that it's organic!?! Well on that note, this dip was still very rich and creamy and has spinach and artichoke all throughout the dip! It was more thick than any spinach dip I've ever had. I liked that aspect very much! The seasoned flat bread was delicious! Very unique and different than your average tortilla chips! They provided some olives and sun dried tomatoes on the side and let me tell you that the sun dried tomatoes gave it that extra zing with the dip! I added a small slice on each bite. Perfection! It was definitely very crowded during lunch time so be prepared to snag a table when you see one open! read more

Love the food and the casual ambiance! I definitely recommend the spicy shrimp tacos!! However I'm docking two stars because the cashier Laura was not very friendly. She stood there blankly staring at us as we perused the menus seeming like she hated her job or was annoyed. Asked her a question and she answered in the blandest tone and continued to stare off. Disappointing representation of Ruggles Green's image. I'll update my review if I have better experience with customer service next time! read more

I had brunch here last weekend. I was surprised that it wasn't more crowded given that it was 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered an omelette with kale, onions, and bacon with salsa on the side. It came with toast and fruit. I also ordered a mimosa. My omelette was good, but a little too salty for my preference. The toast was very buttery and delicious. My mimosa was good, but it had a little too much pulp in the orange juice (not sure if it was freshly squeezed juice). I wanted to try the season mimosa (pineapple) but they had ran out already. The line at the counter moved quickly. The staff was great about keeping tables clean for incoming customers. Good food and quick decent service. read more

Almost did not recognize this place. It used to be Ruggles Green. This has always been a favorite place of mine since you can eat healthy and delicious at the same time! I liked the layout before of the place and still like it now! It's between casual and fancy. We had the Quinoa Mac & Cheese and Buffalo Burger. They were I will say.....surprisingly delicious, especially that Mac & cheese bc I didn't think they "specialized" in that. But oh my goodness, I had added chicken to it and it was definitely an ample amount of grilled chicken mixed in gooey goodness!!! Yummy! I have been here a few times, and location is great, and the food is good. They strive to keep the menu on the healthier side, so if you are health conscious or have food allergies this place is made for you. Prices are on the higher side especially for what you get. Every time I go there and see the bill, I start to recall why I am not there more often. I usually get hempanadas, and Ruggles green goat cheese salad with grilled chicken which usually runs about $30 without drinks. If portions were bigger it would justify the prices. read more

This was my first time here, and I had a good time. My girlfriend and I brought her dog, and we sat outside on the patio which was nice. The food came out fast and the portions were big. Here's what we got: - Cup of Fire-Roasted Tomatao Basil Soup - Atlantic Salmon Salad - Cuban Pork Panini w/ Sweet Potato Fries I'm not a fan of the tomato basil soup. It was pretty bland and wasn't very good. The Atlantic Salmon salad I did like. My girlfriend eats dairy-free so we opted for the garlic poppy seed dressing which was good. Last but not least, the cuban pork panini was awesome. Paired with the crispy sweet potato fries, it was a great meal overall. If you're coming here for a "healthy" lunch, eat half and save the other half because of the large portion sizes. Also, when the weather is nice, sit outside! read more
