I love this place! I can be quite particular about my nails and how they are done, meaning that there are some approaches that I like and some that I don't feel comfortable with (I have seen some weird stuff happen). But I feel super comfortable coming here! What a great experience! They do a great job with a mani/pedi and I really like how they do callous removal with an electric buffer. At first, I wondered what it was (it looks like a hair dryer), and when I realized it was a buffer - OMG! It's so amazing - fast and effective. A great job! I got great massages and felt super relaxed at the end. And my nails look amazing! I live in Dallas, but now I know that there is a place I can go in Boston to get my nails done that I trust.

This is only about 1/3 of the color selection!

After 7 long months, it was time for my feet to emerge from the 2020 winter and I had no idea where to go for a pedicure (I have my regular manicurist that I have gone to forever, but have spent the last 5 years in DC and Boston, so my last pedicure here was in 2015). Like all good citizens I looked on Yelp and spent at least three hours (no exaggeration) weighing the pros and cons of all places; Bellacquer kept coming up as "the place" to go! Making an appointment as SO EASY with online booking, I was able to get the day/time I wanted and Trinh (I think that is the correct spelling?) transformed my horrible winter-ravaged feet into fabulous feet ready for whatever this month brings. I had the basic pedicure ($42), but still lots of nice extras that would cost more elsewhere (like the fabulous callous buffer!). They have an enormous selection of colors to choose from, but I always bring my own (good for touching up any damage I get myself into). There is a huge wall of polishes at the front entry and then most of a wall full in the main area. What I somehow missed in all of the reviews were the 2018 & 2019 Best of Boston awards from Boston Magazine; I sometimes read through the winners and think "what? no way did xxx win" but this was obviously well-deserved. Easy parking on Beacon or one of the side streets, take the T to Summit Ave or Coolidge Corner or just walk on your sad-looking feet and you will prance on home with renewed feet!

I came in for a mani pedi before a wedding. The polish was good quality and lasted. The salon is a little quieter than I'd prefer but it is a relaxing, comfortable, clean space with a nice set up.

Terrible experience. First time here, and was shocked at how poor this entire manicure was, from start to finish. My nails were filed down to the bed, and the cuticles were cut so poorly they started to bleed. Very uncomfortable, nail tech didn't say anything. Her gel application totally ignored the tip of the nail, so now they look like genuinely bad press one. So frustrated. Incredibly expensive too, $47 without tip for a gel manicure and no gel removal. I'm shocked by this for a mediocre at best nail salon. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Maybe my tech was particularly bad but all in all, the whole experience was just terrible.

I'm so glad I found a new nail salon! It was super easy to make an appointment online -- and when I called later when I realized I needed to add a service, they were so flexible and fit me in the schedule even with the additional service request! Once I got to the salon, they were so nice and efficient. I brought in an inspo pic and they were so sincere about matching it as closely as possible. My pedicure was super relaxing with a scrub and hot stones! I loved that for my gel x service, they did the full cuticle/hand care and not just the "dry cuticle care" that many places do with just the drill. Thank you for doing such a great job with such efficiency! I'll definitely be back!

My first time at Bellacquer and I am so impressed with how good my nails came out! I came in with uneven, broken nails, due to a botched job at another spot. Lynn did such a good job evening out my nails, you'd never know that they were a wreck before! It's definitely a little pricier than other places, but well worth it!

    Dazzle dry for $29

Given the prior reviews and amazing photos, this place unfortunately, did not live up to its expectations. The photos on here looks great, which makes you think that this place is really nice and professional. I got a dazzle dry manicure for $29 and was satisfied with it but I wasn't overly pleased or overly happy with the results. It just felt like another manicure, even though the photos on here, makes it seem like this is a high-end place and it is totally not! Will I come here again? - probably not. You're better off going to Nailosophy, which is down the street and charges you $25 for a dazzle manicure. Their place looks way better, quieter and makes you feel more relaxed. I think Nailosophy is better than this place TBH!

Douja is the only stylist that works here, services are appointment-only and appointments are scheduled with disinfecting time in between, so she and I were the only ones in the shop, and she could do her work just as well with both of us masked. The haircut itself was great -- I used to go to Douja when she was at Sublime Salon in Cambridge and I instantly remembered why. I'm a guy so I don't have the language to tell someone exactly what to do. With Douja I can just tell her how long I want it, maybe tell her about some terrible haircuts I've had while she works, and she's competent enough to handle the rest. Douja herself is also awesome -- she'll tell you exactly what she thinks and wants you to do the same. *Note that this is a new salon Douja started in 2020, so other staff from Sublime, gift cards, etc. are likely different. Yelp may just be erroneously combining new and old business reviews.

Her prices are more than fair and her work product is priceless. Further, she is efficient with her time without sacrificing the end result. I greatly appreciate that I am not sitting in the chair for an unnecessary amount of time which is what happens at most other salons. And for the time I am sitting in the chair, she is great conversation! Not only does she do amazing work, she cultivates a safe space through her radiant and kind personality. I am so lucky to have been referred to her by a friend and I hope to have her do my hair forever! I have curly dark brown hair and she has safely got me to the blonde shade I desire. My private area hairs HATE being waxed. I always end up getting ingrown hairs after a wax. I have had nothing but issues with waxing, even after visiting European Wax Center. Once upon a time I lived in Atlanta and would get waxes from Andreas, but I no longer live there. STRAVROULA, the waxer, was the absolute best. She works in the basement of a hair salon, but the wax room is clean and tidy. I told her I don't usually wax because of getting ingrown hairs. I was only getting a bikini wax, so she gave me a pair of disposable underwear. I thought that was great and professional. I told her I wanted to try the Sugar wax, as I had read about it, and wanted to try it out. She tried the sugar wax on me and the sensitive skin wax on me. She would use the different waxes for different parts of my skin. She payed attention to me, engaged in conversation and the wax did not hurt as much as I thought. The pain level was about the same with other waxes that I have had. After the wax, my skin was very bumpy and red, but within the next few hours that went away. I wanted to write a review the day I got the wax, but decided to wait because my issues usually pop up AFTER the wax with ingrown hairs, but I can say 1 week later, my extended bikini line is still bump free. I will ONLY be going to STRAVOULA and actually look forward to getting another before my next vacation. Side bar: I always HATE how people who wax you, tell you to come more often to reduce the pain and the amount of hair and I really think that is a myth and a way for the shop to make more money. At European Wax Center they always try and make you buy a package to save $X.00 over time and they wax you so fast, there is no personal touch. I feel that they only care about profits. I felt that Stravoula actually cared about my skin and wanted me to have a great experience. I do not hate EWC, but they are both near eachother and one is franchise, while the other is a small business owner who has been doing this sort of work for 20+ years. Good luck hairy gals!

Instead of using a single swift pull, this technician (Sheila) used a series of small pulls, which I believe led to the sores. But I'm not sure about that. What I can say is that I'm in my mid-50s, have been waxing for decades, and have never been left with sores/scabs. So this issue is distinct to this visit to EWC in Brookline, MA (and I've been to several others in the area). Additionally troubling is that I wrote a note to EWC stating the above to no avail, even offering to send them photos that I'd taken. Not only did no one contact me, I know they received my complaint because I got a follow-up survey inquiring as to my satisfaction regarding the efficacy of their follow-up. Incredible! You can't make this stuff up. I've even checked Junk, thinking "surely not, surely *someone* would have written back; maybe it went into the Spam folder." Nope. Non. Nada. Anyway, the woman at the front desk was lovely, friendly, chatty, and very welcoming. Despite that, unless I want more scabs, returning to this EWC seems unwise and so I won't.
