SM Caesar Salad with bread roll
Tracey Z.

Came here on a Saturday night and was seated quickly. Seems like a local spot and great spot to celebrate. Lots of different pasta options and lots of meat options as well. The bread was the best thing I ate. Very fluffy and buttery!! Caesar salad was pretty standard. I liked the risotto, large portion but was not impressed by the chicken, was chewy and bland.

Great place, awesome food, terrific atmosphere, helpful staff, calm clean nice inside. i highly recommend this place and as good as anything at the Domain

I'm shocked this place has high reviews. Seems like it should be on an episode of kitchen nightmares. The food is terrible. Everything tastes canned or frozen. Ordered the lasagna which was different temperatures throughout and the cheese tastes artificial. Clearly frozen then put in the microwave. Also ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce which tasted like tin from a can. Bruschetta was also super weird. Hot artichokes, an unusual amount of onions, capers, and capers. Lastly the Caesar salad was so bland. The whole meal took 20 minutes likely because nothing was actually cooked.

As soon as I sat down I had Mimosas which was not listed as a menu item. So they said it can be made for me. Plus one, excellant! They're very attentive here I was very surprised since I've seen some of the reviews that were average. But not the case here I was treated very well and the mimosa came out fantastic which is the way I like it I ordered the mushroom Were absolutely delicious and it had the sauce red sauce Italian style with bread. Fantastic I also ordered the medium size meat lovers pizza New York style. Okay so it features as NY style but in reality more like New York version style. Came out hot and delicious, honestly it was very large for a medium. If you have eaten at I recommend highly you have to try it it's really good food and you can't miss it it's usually busy on the weekends but if you go for lunch time it's a little bit mellow down and sometimes not you have to do a hit or miss to find where it's not too crowded. They do have an outdoor seating if you like but because of the heat in August I don't think a lot of people want to sit outside. Park in very easy here handicap the works so come out and see what I'm talking about the food is really good including the pizza. Happy yelping!!

My son wanted to try the stuffed mushrooms but we both found them rubbery and the filling was quite bland. He took one bite and gave me a face. I tasted two and they definitely needed more flavor. Mostly a breadcrumb mixture with little seasoning. We didn't finish them. I did mention to our waitress we didn't enjoy them. A great stuffed mushroom really needs a soft cheese and plenty of herbs/garlic IMHO. (I use Boursin or herb cream cheese in my recipe.) We had breadsticks delivered with our side salads. I got a house green and I enjoyed their tangy vinaigrette. Green and red leaf lettuce tossed with shredded carrot, red onion rings and I asked to hold the tomatoes. My son had a Greek salad and ate about half. The vinaigrette was too strong for his liking and I suggested he stick with his usual ranch dressing next time. Anything to get veggies in a teenage, right? He kindly gave me his Kalamata olives. The breadsticks looked homemade with a good chew and flavor with a little brushed on butter. Would have loved an olive oil and balsamic to dip in. Kiddo ordered the Seafood al Diavolo: He said the pasta fettuccine was tender, spicy marinara was excellent with the right level of spicy and sweet balance. Scallops were buttery and the highlight of the dish. The downside; Mussels were way too fishy and Shrimp were tough and overcooked. This is a tough dish to master given each seafood component cooks at different times. He finished most of it minus the mussels. I ordered the classic Chicken Parmigiana. Came with a classic marinara that had a nice bright sweetness. Likely San Marzano tomatoes, yet sadly it lacked depth with little to no garlic and herbs. Spaghetti pasta was perfectly al dente to my liking. Chicken parm was tough though. Unexpectedly? The breading on both sides was mushy and slid right off the chicken. You have to first dry the chicken in flour before the egg dip followed by breadcrumbs or this is the result. Culinary school graduate here so yes, I know the proper technique. The flavor was there with a good melt of mozzarella but breading was a miss for me. I make this dish at home better. My son tried it too with the same ask "why is the breading so mushy and loose?" We did round out dinner with a shared dessert of Canolli. This triple order were crispy, filled with a soft creamy ricotta cheese filling (definitely not the firmer mascarpone) with a few choc chips and a choc syrup drizzle. Had a nice background cinnamon taste. Delicious and a nice finish to our meal. Over all? 3.5 out of 5. Rounding up to a 4 as our waitress was kind and attentive. She rushed out our salads and breadsticks after I mentioned we happy to be there and extra hungry. She was great and even apologized for delivering my house Chianti a tiny bit late. We will return (and update our review) to try a baked pasta dish or pizza. I heard their lasagna is where they shine. Maybe it was an off night for the chicken parm?

Mindful of the need to eat, I spied a trailer, Patrizi's across the street. I rarely utilize trailers, I know being an Austinite, what the heck? The reasons are for another day. I was delighted with the meal. Last week, my colleagues choose Patrizi's brick and mortar for lunch after our morning meeting. It wasn't my choice, mainly because I had no idea there was a brick and mortar option and for lunch no less. Off the 10 of us went, we had a reservation as well. Down a winding road we came across the location which had an ample parking lot for visitors. The layout is order at the counter, grab a number and find a place to chill. They have a full bar on another side from the order counter. I went with something simple and not massive. A beet salad with a small Cacio e pepe pasta. I love beets and it's a Scandinavian thing, probably from my DNA, being born and raised overseas. The dish itself was delicious to look at as well as to munch on. It was bright, creamy with the farm cheese and the beets were prepared perfectly. It brought back memories of my misguided youth. Cacio was equally prepared with care and texture. As with an alfredo, Cacio can get gummy. Not this time. I was truly impressed.. again. I really liked the service and wondered when we arrived how would they handle a large group like us with counter service. Things that worked well. Set expectations. The gal at the counter let us know they had one chef on this day, so the meal would take a little longer than usual. Fair enough. Secondly, she went through the sizes and how to order and how the meal was to be delivered to our tables. Once all of us had ordered, she went through all the items one by one to make sure everything was correct. So simple, why don't other places do this? We found a nice bench outside, covered with a tarp so not to get hot. It was a cool day, so we opted to be outside instead of the table they had set aside for us inside. The restaurant itself has indoor and outdoor seating and is larger than I would have expected. It's quirky inside, but I like the idea of keeping a tab at the bar for extra drinks and beverages. The wait for our order wasn't as long as we expected with our salads and stuff coming out first and then the pastas/pizzas arrived. They make their own pasta and it showed. Now I know they are here and not terribly far from our offices, I'm sure we will come by again. Top drawer experience all around. PS, all the staff were smiling and delightfully helpful all along the way.

Like what did they put in there?? Also, the diavolo pasta does have a kick to it, so be aware, but it's DELICIOUS. The only reason for 4 stars is for a bit of a rude service experience we had when trying to get seated. We were a group of 10, seat yourself and put your number down style. No tables had 10 seats but 2 tables right next to each other had 6 and 4. So we began to sit at those. Guy comes up and immediately aggressively "you don't need to do all that sit here (points at table with 8 chairs)". I say well we have 10 so we would need a couple more chairs. He's like "you could have just asked". We were literally just trying to be less of a hassle and I don't understand what's the "all that" we were doing in the context. Honestly it feels bad to even note this because of how good the rest of the experience was.

Sitting along the marina with boats gently coming and going, The Lighthouse has all the ingredients for an afternoon you don't want to end. Unfortunately, our experience never quite found its sea legs. We arrived with a party of five and walked up to the host stand where several young employees greeted us... sort of. We let them know there were five of us. They nodded. That was it. No "What's your name?" No "We'll get you on the list." No "It'll be about a 30-minute wait." Just... nodding. As more guests started filing in behind us, I finally walked back up and asked if they needed our name or phone number. The group looked at one another like I'd asked them to solve a calculus equation. Eventually someone located a scrap of receipt paper and a marker to write our information down. I'm choosing to believe it was someone's first day because otherwise, it was a genuinely confusing start. The patio was bustling, but considering Texas had apparently opened the Gates of Hades that afternoon, our group requested indoor seating. A plus? There was only one table seated inside and they were just having drinks. We thought it would be a very short wait. About thirty minutes later, one of the hosts finally asked, "Would y'all be okay sitting inside?" Our entire table answered in unison: "YES." Once seated, things improved... at least initially. The dining room overlooking the marina is comfortable, with large windows that let the view do most of the decorating. The televisions were on without dominating the room, making it easy for our family to settle in and enjoy something we hadn't done in years--simply sit around one table together and catch up. Thankfully, we had plenty to talk about because the food took a while to arrive. My brother and I decided to split The Shipwreck, the restaurant's signature sandwich. On paper, it sounded incredible: fried chicken, fried cream cheese, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, homemade blueberry jam, and an order of their truffle fries. That's a sandwich that practically dares you not to order it. Unfortunately, reality didn't quite match the menu. The biggest disappointment was the "homemade blueberry jam." It wasn't jam. It tasted exactly like canned blueberry pie filling. That one ingredient completely threw off the sandwich for me. (thankfully, just in case, we had asked for it on the side) Beyond that, it was... fine. Not bad. Not memorable. Just an average fried chicken sandwich wearing a few extra accessories in hopes of becoming something special. For more than twenty dollars, I wanted something that made me think about it on the drive home. Instead, I mostly thought about how much potential it had. The truffle fries were another miss. They arrived barely warm and were cold before we made it halfway through the basket. The promised truffle flavor was faint, there were a few shavings of Parmesan, and instead of the garlic aioli listed on the menu, we were served plain mayonnaise. Meanwhile, our server proved elusive. After taking our order and delivering the food, she seemed to disappear entirely. When she finally resurfaced to greet the table beside us, we took the opportunity to ask for our check before she vanished again. To be fair, two members of our party ordered the chicken fried steak and both enjoyed it, so there were certainly bright spots on the menu. But as a whole, none of us walked away particularly impressed. It's disappointing because The Lighthouse has so much working in its favor. The location is wonderful. The view is exactly what you'd hope for on Lake Travis. The atmosphere invites you to slow down and stay awhile. Now it just needs food and service that rise to meet the setting. As for me? The Lighthouse didn't quite guide me safely to shore. Next time, I'll be looking for another place to dock in search of a better meal.
