Came here for lunch. Inside area is small but we came here late and got a table. My husband had the special, Philly cheesesteak on fries and a side of fried okra. Ok...this is gonna sound a little silly, but I live in a big city with a lot of great restaurants...and I honestly think their mushroom Swiss burger is one of the best I've ever had. I called ahead and picked up my burger, advertised as $9.95 though a 3rd party website (the restaurant doesn't have a website). I picked it up, and it was just over $15 for a burger and fries. I asked the kind employee behind the bar, and she said "prices went up." She also explained that there is a fee (I think $1.04) for ordering on the phone. I'd sure like to support local, but over $17.00 with tip for a burger is not ever happening again. I'll drive to Cedar Park to not feel ripped off. read more

This is most definitely a bar. Every time I have walked in, there were regulars at the bar.. most of the same people every night. I went in to pick up a few burgers to go. The burgers are good and come with a side (like onion rings or french fries) They are also fairly large burgers. It's an open air place so there may be heaters or fans. There is a beer garden in the back. It's ok but it's probably not the best place to take a family. In fact, I overheard other bar patrons talking about how they hated the kids that the family let run around last night. read more

Where to begin... I walked in barefoot with intent of ordering to go. They were gracious enough to allow me to dine in but only after talking to me like a child explaining that there could be broken glass or i could become infected with planters warts by thier floor. Being barefoot I'm very aware of how gritty and unclean that floor was. Our orders were eventually taken but our drinks weren't ever addressed. We helped ourselves to the soda with styrofoam cups. The coke and sprite both had that distinct flavor of unwashed nozzles and warm soda. We were the only people dumb enough to order food during our entire visit. My burger arrived looking like it had been assembled and squashed under an arm pit. The meat was warm, grey, and almost bitter. Absolutly inedible. The fries were also cold but had been sitting long enough to go soft and wrinkly. The waitress was unable to defend this food but did offer to drop it from the bill. It was nice of her to offer considering that until then we'd only seen her when she brought us the slop. I wish i had the foresight to take pictures of the food but on the way out i did snap one of the kitchen. I'm glad i did because no one would believe my description without strong evidence. Glad I'm out of there, I'm concerned that tomorrow will require a little extra time on my porcelain thrown as i atton for that first/last bite. Not to mention that I'm more than sure that the food is just a cover to distract from the actual business; the video poker and good ol' boy attitude made it clear that they weren't in business to sell food. read more

Just terrible!! Where to start.. Open air joint so it was blazing Hot! We tried to go into the air conditioned bar area but it was tiny and super dark. All of the "regulars" scoffed at us and the bartender wouldn't even look our way. We were starving so we sat down at a table in the hot area. We waited 15 minutes and nobody ever came out of the small dank bar area to help us. They knew we were there but didn't care. This is clearly a bar that is happy making a few dollars serving beer to the locals and not much more. Too bad because there aren't many food options in Lago. read more

Went to eat at this place and got treated very poorly. We were discriminated against because I had my service dog with me. I don't know if it was because i am an Asian American or if it was my service dog. We sat down and had menu's tossed at us and quote "just take em"! We were looking for a place to watch the NFL game when recently staying in the area, this seemed to be one of the only options. The bartender and local patrons could not have been nicer to us out of towners. Because it was so hot, everyone was in the side room that had air conditioning, not the main area you walk into. Kind of a rustic dive, but you can't eat ambiance. There was no pretense of where we were: in a bar and grill with lattice covered in visqueen to keep out the wind. Our waitress was a hoot. I asked which burger she would recommend and she suggested the Swiss burger with onion rings. It was fantastic, and it was so generous in portion so that I could not eat it all. Our table also ordered the Hawaiian burger and their Western burger. Each was absolutely delicious. We will probably be back before the week is out. So good! read more

Food is actually ok here, but i just do not like the overall vibe. Everything looks and feels cheap. Bunch of gaming machines in tiny inside bar area on the right. A smokers area that is subject to weather. It is nicer than the bar the owner used to own in Lago which had rats running across the rafters as you ate. Unfortunately there are really no other choices in Lago so this is what you have at this point. read more

Solid lake dive. The food is satisfying, especially after a day on the water. All the fried stuff was frozen food service stuff, but the burgers are solid - and the salads are pretty good. Beer & wine only, and nothing fancy - just the basics. Open air, but enough fans to make it tolerable. Free pool, ping pong & darts. Ended up here because the wait at our planned destination was ridic. I'm glad. The waitress/bartender was great. Not bubbly but efficient and knowledgeable. Cheese sticks to start which were obviously homemade and quite tasty. I went with the Copperfield burger w/cheddar cheese (4 choices as I recall) and it was perfectly prepared. Onions were chopped and the side of fries were thick with skins on. 3 is because a/c was only in the small bar area...maybe that will change in the future. This is a local hangout. The issue that I have is the lack of a/c in the main building. Its not comfortable because we get six months of summer in Texas. Its wide open and very hot. This does not help their draft beer keep cool. With a few changes this place would be the go to for sports watching and happy hour. read more

Have driven by this place hundreds of times, never stopped, made the mistake of stopping in instead of speeding up today. Went during lunch, place was nearly dead when we walked in, with 3-4 more tables by the time we left. Service was indifferent. Had to hunt down our own silverware. Had the food been just ok, would have given it 2 stars. However, the food was abysmal. While I recognize this is supposed to be bar-style food, the food here was more likely to be found at a bad carnival. Everything was swimming in grease, the fries looked and tasted as if they were slowly boiled in oil. Limp and soaked in grease. Ditto for onion rings. Same with kids corn dog, slow simmered in oil instead of fried. The BLT should be renamed as the BBLT (butter, bacon, lettuce, tomato), the bread looked and tasted as if it was totally submerged in butter before toasting on the griddle. Ditto for kids grill cheese. No one really ate much of their food, even the kids protested. Our son who loves french fries barely ate anything. read more

Stumbled upon this bar /restaurant around noon on a Saturday. Open 11-2 am to am that is. Actually loved the service and the local feeling of this restaurbar. Spelled that way on purpose. Although I don't embibe I'm sure this is a local hang out above lake Travis. Just had a great feel to it and the food we had was good. I had California chicken sandwich and my wife had the cat fish. The potato salad is home made. The sandwiches were good. Monday's and Tuesday's burgers are 1/2 price. Employee made sure we knew that so that we may come back. It was not air conditioned or heated unless the bar room was. The walls of the main portion had two layers of narrow strips of wood with about a 2" open space between. This is the best worst experience you'll ever have. Good lord this place is truly awful and I loved it. The waitresses were mad that our group showed up, as if they hated business - no one was there, they couldn't do separate checks because they didn't get past colors & shapes in Kindergarten and I'm pretty sure the cook was also the janitor. I recommend this dumpster fire to make you appreciate the good things you have in your life. Don't take good food for granted, hug your kids and live life to the fullest. Group of 8 of us were in town for a lake weekend in July. Food was solid. Standard stuff - burgers, sandwiches, po boys, chicken strips, etc. Waitress was nice but getting the food was extremely slow. Hour and 15 minute wait for standard food. And there were only 2 people in the whole restaurant besides our party. We walked in the sectioned off bar area to see about a table and the vibe was not welcoming at all. Ping pong table and pool tables were nice. Almost no air flow for a place that has grated walls. With that, you'd expect all forms of air conditioning would be on at full blast. However half the fans were broken and the misters were faced away from the building. And the industrial sized fan was blowing outwards. Why? Can't expect much business in the summer in these conditions. read more

To be sure the restaurant choices are slim in Lago Vista but I couldn't give the Copperhead Grill more 3 stars. 1 star for friendly staff, 1 star for a really clean ladies room (in spite of it being located outside on the patio) & 1 star because they immediately replaced Mr's french fries with the sweet potato fries he had ordered. We both ordered the Shrimp Platter and those poor little shrimp were fried to death & the cole slaw was meh. The dining is really big but the bar area is kind of small & jammed with those interactive game machines. Maybe they were having a bad night or they had a new cook either way we were disappointed. read more
