    Fried Pickles
    Bob S.

I hate restaurants that charge a credit card fee on top of their bill - It may have been disclosed on the menu (I'm not sure) but I'm already there and now the bill comes with a 3% fee. In any regard, this is not affect my restaurant rating. Food is average and service is average (server comes by when he can, and was very personable but a bit forgetful) - seem to be a bit short on servers. We were quickly seated and food came out quickly. Fried pickles were great - hot and spicy, fries were cold in the basket, and shrip tacos were OK. A great place to visit in the afternoon especially now that Lake Travis is up to 675 feet. Nice breeze, excellent view. I will definitely be back on nice days.

    Cajun peel and eat Shrimp

I imagine most patrons arrive by boat...but you can get there by car...and the walk down AND up is a bit of an adventure from the parking lot. We ordered the peel and eat cajun shrimp, very tasty with our cocktails, texas flip flop and classic marg. The best part was that the shrimp shells get dumped overboard for the fish that hang out under the floating dock. My capt pete jerk chicken and companion's catfish basket were enjoyable. Nicely seasoned fries too.

The food tasted great! Amazing service!! The fried pickles were amazing. All the staff were very friendly and kind! Our sever, Guy is the MAN! Very attentive and friendly. Great view of the sunset too!

HORRIBLE experience today at Captain Pete's... actually, it was a nonexistent experience. We were so looking forward to drinks and food by the water with our two dogs. We got there, got seated and had menus given to us, and that was it. The hostess and the waiters glanced at us a few times, and there was no way they could miss us because we had 2 90-pound dogs with us and menus still on the table, but they never came to even offer us water, much less take our orders. It wasn't busy and there were at least 4 servers. They quickly waited on two tables that arrived AFTER us, but they were off boats, not a lowly car like we were. My husband even went inside to get dog water and they saw him walk back out. After about 20 minutes, we just got up and left, still hungry and thirsty. It's sad because this could have easily been our go-to this summer but not now.

Pulled up on the boat and was greeted by the friendliest, most attentive staff. The views are absolutely stunning and make the whole experience even better. Dre went above and beyond--he took such great care of us and recommended the Boathouse Burger with bacon, which was a solid 10/10. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Definitely coming back! :)

This place always hits. The perfect spot for lago vista/ point venture. A must have if you're on the lake and feeling hungry! Remember to feed the catfish, but don't feed them the catfish tacos...

We loved the Gnarly Gar and were sad to see it sink., but Capt Pete's is an overall great improvement. They did do a major overhaul of the dining area and according to the manager, there were a lot of additional repairs. A lot of boaters were dining outside by the lake, but we opted for the bar/AC as it was a humid day. Pete's has a few specialty drinks and our highly skilled & professional bartender, Tabitha, did not give us a tourist pour. Our Sunday-Funday Marghies were spot on. The menu item that caught my eye was the Fenway Frank. Come to find out the chef is a big Boston fan and offers a Fenway Park hotdog. This was not a ballpark dog but a foot-long grilled dog smothered in mustard, relish, and chopped onions. Hand-cut fries are included but the dog is king here. Plus one ordered the firecracker shrimp. It's a healthy portion and they were fried and spiced just right. Keep in mind with the lake so low it's a steep climb back up to the parking lot. We did meet a group as we were heading down and they remarked we should not have had that last round. They were a huffin and a puffin.

Food was amazing, service was incredible, Lamplit ambiance was sick, just in general a cool place. Five stars.

Captain Pete's is pretty good! We were able to park our pontoon super easy in one of the front spots. The food is also pretty good! I got a garden salad, and chicken tenders. The only thing that I didn't like about the salad was the spinach but there was only like 2 peices. The bathrooms are pretty clean, and the gift shop has cute shirts, kinda expensive, but still cute. They also have yummy ice cream! The waiter was nice, there was slow service, but that's expected due to how busy this place is. (We went 4th of July weekend) You can also buy fish food at the gift shop, or just use French fries to feed the catfish which is reallly fun!

Great view with decent food! Bbq burger, salads and the frozen margaritas are my favorite parts. Love that dogs are allowed!

This was the perfect spot after a day out on the water. They have indoor and outdoor seating our preference was outside so we can still have views of the lake. The hostess and waitress were kind and attentive. We started with the garden salad with ranch and the only item that would have made it that much better would have been a hard boiled egg. Then we had the spicy shrimp ( that's not what it's called) and we highly recommend it. Those shrimp did not stand a chance lol Our grand finale was burger and fries! The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were seasoned just right. If I'm in the area I'll be sure to visit them again.

Bang Bang Shrimp and Crispy Baby Back Ribs

If you're wanting to eat on Lake Travis this has a great patio area. You're allowed to come by boat and it's not a crazy walk like some of the other restaurants from the dock to the restaurant. We have come here several times and have always had great service. Austin, the bartender, is great to converse with! Make sure to order a Pain Killer. Reminds me of the Virgin Islands. We almost always get the Bang Bang Shrimp and Crispy Baby Back Ribs. I'm a chicken when it comes to spice, but the shrimp has just enough spice where it isn't over powering. The ribs have an Asian bbq sauce making them not too sweet with great flavor. Don't forget to get fish food from inside and feed the Catfish. The biggest Catfish I've ever seen!

Caddie Shack is the member's bar for the Point Venture Golf Club…read more It is open to the general public. Yeah, you will pay about twenty cents more for each beer than do the members. You will barely notice the extra expense. * * * The Caddie Shack is probably closer to the look and feel of a British pub than are most of the fake British pubs you find in the United States. No - it is not because they serve British beer. They don't serve bitters or microbrews of any kind. They serve Bud Light and Shiners and Coronas. No it is not because they have wainscoting or tartan carpets or the British Premier League on TV. The building is prefab aluminum sheeting. The decoration is negligible. They have basketball and baseball on TV. They got air hockey, shuffleboard and pool. This place could be a military canteen on an army base. It could be a rec room in somebody's house. * * * So what's so British pub-like about a prefab aluminum shack with bar games and cans of lager beer? What makes a real British pub is the sense of community. It is THE public house in the village. There is no other common place to meet - except church. There is no McDonald's. There is no Starbucks. Where do you go to meet your mates? The local. And there is one and only one local. The minute you enter the pub - you feel like you have walked into a family living room - Because this is where the whole family is hanging out. * * * Point Venture is at the very very tippity tip of Lago Vista. It is a good seven miles of twisty-turny driving from FM 1431. It is surrounded on three sides by water. It is far from everything else in the state of Texas. So the only people who go to the Caddie Shack are the people who live in Point Venture. There is one other restaurant near the marina in Point Venture. But otherwise - the Caddie Shack is what there is. So this is where people come and this is where people hang out. Management makes a point to have music most nights. There are regular poker tournaments. (Big cash penalty if you show up late.) There are big sheets of paper on the wall marking everyone's bet on who is going to win the NFL Divisional Championship games this week and what the point spread will be. A lot of people have signed up for bets. It is not that everyone is buddy buddy with everyone else. (People aren't buddy buddy with everyone else in a British pub either). Married couples sit at their tables by themselves playing Buzztime trivia or watching what's on TV. Groups of three and four play the various bar games. Some couples have conversations, soulful or otherwise, just sitting at the bar. This is the place you go in Point Venture, if you don't want to stay home and watch Netflix. Hanging out here is as routine as hanging out in the snack bar in your dorm. * * * I am not a Point Venture kind of a guy. I could never afford the spectacular houses on the lake. Those houses look small from the road. They go down three or four stories BELOW street level. The lower lakefront levels are palatial and magnificent. I don't play golf. I don't like boats. I don't drive a pick-up truck. (The mansions have two or three.) But Caddie Shack just melds in nicely with the Point Venture lifestyle. Any place that brings people together, serves the function of bringing people together. I like the vibe and feeling of Caddie Shack. * * * Now being a twisted Austin yuppie, I can go back to pursuing my obsessions. I like eight ingredient cocktails. I like unsigned bands with songs in 8/17 time. I like violent Korean movies. I like Iranian braised meat dishes with sour lime. What passes over my plate changes every day. I eat some of the most interesting meals in the world. But when I walk into a place where I am eating, I never recognize a single person.

The energy inside was great, the decor is beautiful, and the whole space gives off 1920s Great Gatsby vibes. The bar scene looked lively, and plenty of guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were offered seating on one of the couches near the entrance but chose a more private table instead. Our server was pleasant and kind, though he appeared new. A few small things were missed. Our appetizer plates sat on the table for about 15 to 20 minutes before being cleared, and fresh utensils were not brought out. The wait time for drinks, appetizers, and our main courses was quite long. It felt like we were there close to two hours, with about 30 to 45 minutes between each course. I arrived starving, and unfortunately the long waits made me cranky and impatient and started to affect my appetite. When our drinks finally arrived, I ordered the seasonal apple cider margarita. I was hoping it would be festive and delicious, but it turned out to be very tangy and bitter and not quite the cozy, fall-inspired drink I had expected. My husband and brother did enjoy their drinks, though. The pork belly appetizer, which came highly recommended, was a mixed experience. I would give it a 10 out of 10 for flavor but a 5 out of 10 for texture. The burnt end was extremely tough to cut through, even with effort, and my knife was not strong enough. While it did taste good, it was not the most tender pork belly I have had. I have had versions that truly melt in your mouth, and this one was much chewier. The fried shrimp appetizer was a solid 7 out of 10. It tasted good, but it did not stand out or wow me. The presentation set higher expectations for the flavor than what came through, and the sauce did not feel particularly unique. For my entree, I ordered the hamburger. It was good and well prepared, but nothing especially memorable, just a solid, classic burger. My brother ordered the fish sandwich and absolutely loved his. We had the chance to speak with the owner, who was very kind and friendly. He is clearly passionate about his restaurant and genuinely wants to continue making it better, which I truly appreciate. I am glad we finally made it in to try The Gramercy. Overall, I would be willing to come back. I think it would be a great spot for weekday drinks, appetizers, or brunch, especially during a busy work week. And I love that it is open late until 12 a.m., which is not very common in Lakeway.

The lake breeze and the wind as the boats cruised make it completely cool both on the lake and on the floating tavern. A rental of time at Floating Tavern is completely an experience that feels like you are out of the United States. It is so exotic! They cater your day totally to what you want to do. Want jet skis? Fine. Want to go cliff diving? Fine. Want to just cruise the lake or take a trip with music? That works too. Just chill out sipping a cocktail on a lillypad or floating? Go for it. Once your water time and cruise time is completed, the real fun begins. With expert captains having given us a great lake tour, we pulled up to the floating tavern and that was just incredible. I brought electric candles for the table to level up the experience a bit but they did it all so well with or without them and it was so roomy even for our large group! They had dimmed lights for ambiance, a mixologist squeezing fresh juices for us for amazing drinks she made with the alcohol we brought, (their alcohol package may be easier next time as it is very affordable) and we had two chefs creating small bites for us hot and cooked right there on the tavern as the sun set and we were surrounded only by lake and stars, docked right there in the middle of the lake. The service was exemplary and far beyond our expectations of fun and being catered to. You can bring some of your own food too to make a full party if desired. The communication leading up to the event was exceptional and I'll be honest, I would much rather book this experience with friends a few times a year then ever buy a boat. It is the best lake experience and lake dining you will ever have and the hosts are a huge part of the fun of the day. True experts at what they do and we are a group of well traveled, well dined foodies (including two professional chefs) and we were completely wowed at our evening. It's the vibe that gets you.
