The eggplant parmigiana was delicious, the eggplant was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I enjoyed the caprese salad but it did not come with any sauce (like a balsamic vinegar or a pesto or anything.) So it was very bland. I was happy the fried ravioli, it still had all of the cheese inside. I requested ranch to dip it in but got marinara so, so I ate them without a sauce as well. The Fried zucchini was... wet and soggy. I ended up air frying them the next day which helped a lot. The cannoli was perfect! I will eat here again and perhaps buy my own sauces for my home just in case. read more

I work nearby and often come for the lunch specials. The pizza slice lunch special is 7.50 and you get two enormous slices of pizza and a drink. Just those two slices alone probably equate to half an entire pizza. Im serious.... They're that BIG! I've had great pizza in nyc and bella italia comes pretty close. I've also tried their other lunch specials such as the vodka riggatoni and the portion is humongous and delicious. I can't recommend a better lunch spot in the area for a great price. The freshly baked complimentary rolls are destination worthy alone, but add in some perfectly cooked pasta and we were happy as could be! Husband had good old spaghetti and meatballs and was given a choice between smooth or chunky marinara. He chose chunky and loved it. I tried their Penne Bella Italia and have to say it's a WOW dish. Chicken, Shrimp, Fresh Mozzarella & Spinach in a pink sauce. What really made the chicken in the dish was the seasoning, a nice touch of rosemary. Yum! Both of our pastas came with a simple salad. Blue Cheese for him, and Balsamic for me. Nice light way to start the meal, along with those fabulous rolls. Loved our friendly delightful Server as well. Waitress was ok. I ordered a Chicken Piccata dinner. The salad was tasty but the lettuce was overly wet from washing it off or storing it in water. When I added my salad dressing on top of the wet lettuce the dressing was thinned out & the taste was lost. Then my dinner arrived. I have never seen such a presentation before. The chicken had been cooked prior to my order, had been stored then reheated for me. It was of course then way overcooked, dried out & the 3rd bite seemed tasted old/bad, I spit it out in my napkin. The "sauce"? was unidentifiable, but thick, milky & greasy. I couldn't eat it. What a disappointment! Pizza review time: Cheese pizza review I tried the lunch cheese pizza deal and a deal it is! So nice to see a bargain these days. 2 slices of pizza that are gigantic! And a drink for $7.00 AWESOME! Know the flavor breakdown. Crust- 5 stars here. Undercarriage was perfect nice and crunchy not overdone at all and had a great flavor. Sauce- 3.5 stars, it was pretty good but not awesome. The sauce was a little boring but not bad at all. For reference Difara,s in Cary has exceptional pizza sauce. Cheese. The cheese was fine not to much just the right amount. However it seemed to be a little greasy for a cheese pizza. Not sure if olive oil was out on the slice after it was cooked. Overall I highly recommend this place for pizza in the North Raleigh area. I would vote this as my number 5 pizza joint in North Carolina so far, but many many more to go. read more

Met cousins for dinner at Bella. The oldest has eaten there quite a bit. The orders of fried mozzarella and fried zucchini were good portion sizes and very good. The pizza rolls and Stromboli are gigantic and enough for 2 unless you are super hungry. I got the gourmet tortellini, which was very good and I enjoyed the Ceasar salad. The husband got the broccoli and sausage cavatelli, which was very flavorful. The cup said they haven't had anything bad and have tried several dishes and the pizza. Pizza is always freshly cooked, never under or overdone, well topped, and delicious; this is my first choice for pizza in North Raleigh. The pasta Primera had lots of veggies but sauce felt like someone poured some liquidy soup. We asked for replacement of some veggies with zucchini and they instead cut up pieces of leftover zucchini breaded appetizer into the pasta. No one ever does this. The eggplant was heavily coated in breading to the point where I wasn't sure if eggplant was even there. The salad was fresh and they added shredded cheese per the request in my notes. I took a bite of the pizza and this was really good, although could have used a bit more sauce. The pasta was the winner! Fresh, flavorful, and creamy but not too rich. This definitely satisfied my craving for Fettuccini Alfredo! The portion was generous and it's less than $15 for the dish. Instead of a Bella salad with spring mix, I received a salad that was mostly iceberg lettuce from the core of the lettuce. The cheese on the salad tasted rancid. I have been going to Bella for over 2 years now, but that stopped last night. The spaghetti and meatball had an odd taste, so we asked for a replacement. The manager, Suraj (apology if misspelled), rather rudely confronted us and attempted to explain how the never get complaints for this food. He expected us to pay half cost for a kids meal, that was inedible. Pay half for food that we could not eat? Rather than allowing his server to switch it out, they wanted to charge half cost. Sure, I could pay $4.00, but it was inedible, so that was not going to happen. I explained to him that when he makes his servers do this in the end, they suffer. He claimed I threatened him and the server. No sir its basic logic. In the end, the half cost kids meal was not on our tab, and the manager said, "We'll get you your tab so you can leave promptly." Well sir, you have cost the owners a customer who ate there once a week as a family of four, over a kids meal. A $4.00 charge lost the establishment $350-400 a month. If I were the owner, I would be hiring a new manager. I was flabbergasted by the lack of decent customer service. Drive past Bella Italia. There are many more Italian places to choose from! Went on Mother's Day at 3pm, thinking it wouldn't be busy and it wasn't busy. We ordered and the food took close to an hour to arrive. The waitress brought 2 dishes and then we waited another 5-10 min for the third dish to arrive (there were 3 of us and we waited on the last dish to get there before eating). The vodka pasta had very little sauce and the onions were undercooked; eggplant parm was good but needed more sauce (pasta w it tasted like it was from a box); the lasagna that took longer to be delivered, the noodles were not cooked (chewy). Not what I would expect for a $60-70 meal. We have gotten take out here before no problems, but after today will find a new place. Very disappointed. read more

I'm disappointed with my neighborhood Italian restaurant . Have dined and order from here on several occasions as the pizza and some of their classic Italian dishes are a good value. Service is hit or miss depending on the night you decide to dine in and atmosphere is family friendly. But the reason I'm rating it one star today and not happy with my most recent experience is that when I went to sign my receipt after my CC payment was processed I noticed that the recommended tips at the bottom of ticket was showing a recommended tip with a 50% markup on the calculation of bill. So instead of $10 for a 20% markup on a $50 ticket.... Bella Italia was recommending $15 as a 20% markup on a $50 bill... completely misleading consumers who normally will take the written word of the establishment as truth. When I took it to the manager asking for an explanation he said there is nothing they can do because it comes straight from their credit card transaction company. Huh? Anyways for all you consumers who decide to eat at this restaurant, check your bills and itemized items very carefully. read more

We arrived 30 minutes before closing but the server was still very accommodating and friendly. There is a special on Wednesdays where you can get 2 entrees (each comes with a house or Caesar salad) and a bottle of house wine for $47!! Of course we got that and also got the fried zucchini. Everything was DELICIOUS. They also serve the freshest bread rolls that were soft and super tasty which we did not expect since it was so close to closing time. Highly recommend! Have eaten here a number of time now and can write a good review as it is not based on a 1 time experience. The food here is delicious. Salads, calamari, pizza, calzones and pasta. Have tried them all and have yet to be disappointed in anything that I have tried, or that any of the other members of my dining party either. The lunchtime specials are such a great value. You can get 2 slices of pizza and each slice is 2-2.5 slices of the average pizza place. The two slices are basically half of a normal pie and a drink for $5. During lent this was my Friday go to. I recently tried a calzone, you choose up to 4 ingredients to put inside this delicious meal. I went all out with bacon, sausage, pepperoni and ground beef and I could eat half. Had the other half the next day for lunch. 2 meals out of one entree. Not many places you can say that about. Enjoyed all of my visits and the take out and will continue to eat here. After much deliberation on where to dine within the area we were referred to Bella Italia by a friend. The restaurant, being buried in the back of a retail mall, is not easy to find unless you are approaching from six forks road. Parking appears to get tighter as the evening progresses, the parking lot does come to a dead end. With the many TV's spread throughout the dining area playing professional sports, made this restaurant feel more like a sports bar, rather than an Italian restaurant. The sounds of the many games playing made for a bit of an unappealing ambiance. The staff were all extremely friendly and personable, our server appeared to be knowledgeable of the menu and was able to provide input on entree selections, she also proactively ensured alterations to the order were reflected upon the bill. The Caesar salad unfortunately was served a bit wet, although the ingredients were fresh and I enjoyed the salad for the most part, it ended in a soupy mess with the remainder of my fresh cheese and croutons drowning in the soggy mess and forcing me to retreat, leaving them to drown. The fried ravioli was prepared well, the cheese was fresh and evenly heated, but unfortunately the sauce accompanying them was very bland and not quite comparable to a jar of Ragu. The lasagna came out looking quite impressive, the serving size was significantly more than I was expecting and although it was pleasing to the palate, it was quite clear this lasagna was not made fresh and just shy of being called Stouffers. The Gnocchi in "pink sauce" was somewhat of a mystery to me, I would assume this was a vodka sauce? It was unusually, overly creamy, leaving the Gnocchi to drown in it. The serving size was impressive and the sauce had a pleasant taste, but did not appear to be made fresh. My dessert of choice was the NY style black and white cookie, I chose it to go due to the fact they did not offer espresso, much to my disappointment this dessert selection was pre-purchased from a bakery in NJ as indicated in my posted photos. I would have stopped at whole foods for a dessert had I known this. In my opinion the price point for this restaurant is to high! Cheers! read more

So I really like(d) this place. It's close to home, and although they don't offer delivery, the pizza is very good and my wife loves their pasta. Service and management on the other hand is terrible. A little over a week ago, I had ordered a calzone for pickup along with some other items. Everything was good, but they forgot the ricotta (basically making it a stromboi). Not a big deal, but worth noting for a free calzone in the future. I called them up to bring it to their attention, and spoke to the owner's wife. She sort of tried to negotiate with me on discounting the price of the topping ($2.50), when I rightfully could have just returned the wrong item and asked for the correct one. The problem is, I had family over and did not feel like getting back in the car to swap it out. She agreed to discount a future calzone which I agreed to since I am a regular customer. Oh, and the stromboli had a hair in it that my wife discovered while eating it. This was not brought to the managers attention (yet) but worth noting. Fast forward to today and I come by to grab a pie and what I thought was my free calzone. I'm being told now that I was only offered 50% off. I am not sure why I am being nickled and dimed by an otherwise successful spot, but this put me over the edge. I've been coming here for about 5 years and have been a loyal customer, but that has just come to a screeching halt. Unless they change owners, I'll never do business with them again. Terrible, petty management. And their internet service is slow too. read more
