This review is for pool resurfacing service I hired Bella Blue Water to do but I wanted to give a little bit of background. When we moved to Palm Springs in 2021, the house we purchased had a pool, which was a first for us. It was built in 2015. I incorrectly assumed the weekly pool service guy was taking care of the maintenance. For four years I watched him come once a week and spend 5-10 minutes skimming, brushing, testing the water, and occasionally adding a chemical. In 2025, I decided to take on this maintenance task. With the help of instructional Youtube videos and regular free water testing with chemical guidance from our local pool supply store (yes, the one that begins with "L"), I asked myself why I had been paying the guy so much money for 5 minutes of his time a week. We decided this year that it was time to have the pool resurfaced but with a pebble surface instead of plaster. At 11 years old, this plaster surface had reached its end of life. I also wanted to add the Hayward Prologic Upgrade kit so I could control the pool with an app on my phone. Several people recommended Bella Blue Water to do the job. The owner of the company, Mario, came out and took measurements and showed me samples of pebble finishes. He was so nice, professional, and quite knowledgeable of the pool building business. Mario made several trips out or called during the project just to make sure things were going well. Toward the end of the project, there was a little minor issue with a subcontractor. I let Mario know of the problem and he sent his supervisor out right away to take care of it. When Mario's team finished with the resurface and refilled the pool, they came back out to balance the water with chemicals. Bella Blue Water's supervisor showed me the new control box and got me up and running with the app. He also did something I didn't quite understand at the time. He adjusted the valves to and from the pump, something that never had been done since before we bought the house. Before the resurface project, the pool maintenance guy I parted ways with last year had the pump running at 100% all day long and I think the valve to the surface skimmer was the only skimmer valve that was on. The return valves were all wide open which made the outlets in the pool feel like spa jets. I never questioned it or changed them. That was 8 weeks ago and every time we get in our new pebble pool, we are so happy with the way it turned out, from the tile we chose to the color of pebble to the ability to operate and monitor the system from my phone. Bella Blue Water did a beautiful job! We are now using the variable speeds of the pump and don't have to listen to it run so loud all day long and are using far less electricity. I am surprised the pump didn't burn out long ago. The bottom and surface of both pool and spa are much easier to keep clean with both bottom and surface skimmers working, all thanks to this wonderful supervisor Mario has leading his team who took the time to properly adjust the valves and speed of the pump. So if you are looking to have work done on your pool, Bella Blue Water is who you should call. I will say, on the afternoon of day 1 of demolition with jack hammers going and dust so thick, I asked myself "what the hell have I done?" When we decided to add a swimming pool to our residence in Bermuda Dunes we first checked all available internet information and reviews for Pool Builders in our area. We settled on three pool builders for serious consideration. Tessera, Premier and Bella Blue Water. We set down with representatives from all three companies over the course of a couple of weeks. We discussed what we wanted in swimming pool design and features with sales representatives from Tessera and Premier. In the case of Bella Blue Water we were able to meet with the owner, Mario Elias. The pool design we chose consisted of a half moon shape with a Spa at one end and a Tanning Shelf at the other with the swimming area in the middle. With concrete coping and 1500' square feet of paver decking. It also included a water feature consisting of a six foot sheer and two scuppers. All Pentair equipment including three pumps two filters heater and the Intellicenter. In the end we were confident that all three pool builders would build us an excellent pool. However, Bella Blue Water stood out from the rest and we selected them to build our pool and are very happy we did. A few of the reasons we selected Bella included the high number of positive Yelp reviews and Mario's initiative to address each one which reflected positively on the pride he has in his work. Mario is a professional, friendly and personable guy who spent quite a bit of time reviewing our pool plans with us ensuring everything we wanted and all concerns were addressed. Mario's salesman/estimator Francisco did a great job of laying out the pool design and taking appropriate measurements so a bid could be completed. He also took us to a pool they had built in La Quinta so we could look at one of their completed projects. We were able to talk to the owner of the new pool who highly praised Bella's work. He spent about an hour or so looking at everything, restating the whole system and changing settings. Couldn't find the problem so it was suggested that I change the whole system for a quote of $4200. Called a second company and the first thing the technician noticed is that the system was running on the wrong mode all this time. He literally pushed a button twice and everything went back to normal. I paid BBW $120 for the service fee. I REALLY FEEL THEY WERE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF US. I will be reporting them to the BBB. We just had Bella Blue Water complete a major renovation and expansion of our pool. Mario, his office manager (Erika), project manager (Marco), and tiling team (Horatio) were all nothing short of a pleasure to work with and I can honestly say I was NEVER frustrated with him or his team. That is unheard of on a major renovation project in my experience. What I want in a company is ...a lot. However, I think that is what most want... good communication, honesty, reliability, timeliness, efficiency, cleanliness, proactive nature, detail-oriented, no hidden fees...AND a beautiful result. Mario does what he says he will do when he says he will do it...AND when there were a couple issues (I will elaborate below), he immediately brought them to my attention and collaborated with me to find the best solution and keep on our timeline. On top of that, he had vision and suggestions that can only come with many years of experience on high-end projects. I interviewed and obtained three quotes from reputable pool building companies on Yelp - all had excellent reviews. I chose Mario because he was the person that came up the with vision we ultimately decided on. I could have taken his idea and went with the company that was less expensive or one that said they would do it a couple weeks quicker...but my intuition said to award the project to Mario because he earned it, seemed the most reasonable and realistic, and made the best impression. I am glad I followed my gut. During our first introduction, I told Mario what I was generally looking to do and then he proposed a variation of my design plan and gave the reasons why. When I saw the 3D CAD Erika sent me the next day of the proposed pool along with our written and detailed quote, I knew Bella was the company we were going to go with. I proceeded to bombard Erika with 100+ bulleted questions over the next week to button down every detail of the project and she never showed frustration with my detail-oriented nature. I really appreciated that; huge kudos to her. Mario was extremely communicative throughout the entire process, so much so that I never had to go to him to ask where anything was in the process the entire project. Mario is one of those individuals that you can tell runs circles around others. He moves fast (literally), picks up on details and people's personality styles quickly, and is just an extremely efficient person. I am an A-type, so it was nice to be in like-minded company and to know he would be competent to take care of any issues when they arose...and like with all projects, they did arise. We had issues with the city inspector flagging us for something that slowed us to a standstill for a whole week. When Mario got him to understand that the deck we had planned from the beginning was already approved and provided all the necessary proof, the inspector let us proceed (we should have never been stopped to begin with). Mario kept his cool but pressed the city and the inspector to get us back on track and then Mario also had his crews work extra to make up for the lost time even though the mistake was the inspector's fault. He did this so we could have our pool completed for company visiting on the Fourth of July. Mario did this throughout our entire renovation when working with subcontractors and coordinating with inspections and our inside general contractors. Mario proactively offered to move four 500lb boulders to any other spots on our property for us (it took them four men with a dolly to move each one). Mario added electrical boxes on our deck stairs because he saw the opportunity to make that design better during the project and did not charge us for that. Mario brought us eight bags of salt to get an algae situation reversed after filling the pool even though that was not his responsibility - free of charge. The motherboard and sensor on our Pentair system went out during the renovation - Mario replaced for free without trying to blame it on us. He provided recommendations to us without any kickbacks or reward for himself for other general contractors, misters, pool servicing companies (they no longer offer maintenance service to new customers because of labor shortages). Mario offered to come back later when we have our Kool Deck Concrete resurfacing application done to help cover up the pool waterline tile - again, at no charge to us. I could go on, but really what you want to know is that Mario is on top of his projects and timelines, the details, and his customer's happiness with his work. He won't leave you high and dry. He won't ghost you. He won't charge you for crazy things to gouge you. He won't let more than a couple hours go without responding to you. Mario is top notch and a pleasure to work with...I looked forward to seeing his smiling face in our backyard several times a week and am kind of bummed his work is now done (beautifully). I recently had a spa and pool installed in my yard by Bella Blue Water and can attest to why this company has over a hundred 5 star reviews. They handled everything from design, to permits, demo, excavation, rebar, shotcrete, electrical/plumbing, tiling, plaster, etc. Each individual that came through to work on our home was so kind and respectful of our property. They made sure to clean up after each work day. I never got a single complaint from neighbors or HOA. I was not on site for most of the project but Mario would frequently check in on the project himself and kept me updated after each phase was completed via phone calls/texts/photos. I must've asked Erika hundreds of questions during the entire process and she was so patient with me, her responses were always quick, communication was excellent. Special shout out to Eduardo, their foreman, who helped me with electrical and gas line issues I had with my home. We used Bella for 4 years and the guy who did our pool was great, unfortunately he left and they sent a different guy who had no idea what he was doing and only spent 6 minutes on his visit (we timed it) as a result our pool ended up with algae stains- when we complained they wrote us a letter telling us they would no longer provide us service! We continued to explain our pool was a mess at their neglect they sent out a supervisor who agreed to acid wash the pool at no charge, continue service for the month and part ways - we thought this sounded very fair - they did the acid wash, it looked great and refilled the pool with 8 days left in the month - we hired a new pool man and on the 1st of the month when he arrived the pool was green because Bella Blue had not added any conditioning or chlorine - they filled the pool and walked away with out telling us- so we had to have the pool water shocked and treated at our expense- If they had told us they were not going to service until the end of the month I would have scheduled the new service to start sooner and avoided the problem-then Bella Blue continued to invoice for the following month and sent a nasty text for being past due ! I can't tell you how poorly they handled our situation- Don't bother - I also realized when interviewing replacement pool cleaners that they are very overpriced!!! read more

August 21, 2021 To whom it may concern: I would like to recommend Bella Blue Water Pools and Mario Elias as your next pool contractor. I found Mario through researching my YELP app.  We just recently moved into our new home and wanted to build a small pool.  The YELP ratings and reviews prompted a call.  Mario was quick to respond, and he came out to our home to discuss our plan. Our home had a sloped back yard, and Mario recommended that we installed a retaining wall for a few reasons:  1.  By having our pool on one level our usable space will be larger; 2.  We would be above the homes below us and would command a better view of the south mountains; 3.  We would not be in risk of the pool eventually falling down the small hill.  Mario stated that by doing this, our backyard space will be second to none - the only problem was that his company did not do wall construction, and I would have to find someone who did that work. He assured me that this would be best for all parties.  He told me that by concentrating only on pool construction, he builds a solid product, and doesn't get tied up with becoming a wall contractor. It was a slow start for my pool construction because I had to handle the retaining wall.  Honestly, I wasn't sure if I did the right thing, but boy....am I glad I followed Mario's advice.  After wall construction, Mario's team was on it! During the entire process, Mario was at my house every day to ensure that everything was going as planned.  His communication was excellent, and He was genuinely excited about how our pool was going to look once completed. Mario gave me recommendations for good people to help with my landscaping needs, and because of that I was able to coordinate with a guy to add plants, and artificial turf, and work with another to build the fencing over my retaining wall. I would recommend looking through "Pinterest" to get ides for the style of pool that you envision.  I found a nice fire bowl, and two pairs of tiki torches, a long with equipment for an outdoor kitchen.  Listen to Mario, and ask him for his advice.  He really knows his business!  With some preplanning, Mario's team will be able to put a great plan together for your backyard - one that you will enjoy for years to come. By the way during construction of our pool,  I asked some of Mario's sub-contractors, who is the best pool contractor: They all told me that Bella Blue Water Pools was the best in the Coachella Valley.  One guy went on to say that everyone who works for Mario is extremely happy, and all of his customer's are equally as happy with the entire process and finished product. In the last month our water levels haven't been check. As we checked our home cameras to confirm. Also, they charge you for filter cleaning and they never do them. So i called and they did it. Big shout out to Mario and his team. We just had them resurface our 64-year-old pool with pebbling and the whole process was fantastic. Starting from the initial consultation, Mario was amazingly prompt in responding to any and all questions we had. As we worked out the details of the project, he let us know about various upgrades and changes we could make, but still keep our pool's vintage-y desert vibe. We were surprised about how quickly he and his crew started and finished the job. They were clean, courteous and Mario kept us in the loop throughout the project with texts and photos. We couldn't be happier with the finished product -- the pool looks fantastic. As first time pool owners, we really were pretty clueless about everything, but Mario explained everything and consulted with us when needed. We liked the service so much that we've hired Bella Blue Water to do our regular pool maintenance. When dealing with contractors, I always like to keep my fingers crossed, my thoughts optimistic, and my eyes on that final invoice. So I'm writing this review about 8 years too late. First let me start off by saying Mario and Mario Senior are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Like most, I met Mario by looking on yelp for the best pool service in the valley. Many companies came up and we called a few and one of those were obviously Bella Blue. Mario and his dad came and walked us through are equipment and the problems he thought we had or may potentially have. Needless to say we hired Mario.... We own a couple investment properties and we have referred Mario to others and they also love Bella Blue. Mario runs his company in such a way that I NEVER have to worry about my pools. Let me say that again. I NEVER worry about my pools. That is everything. To know that my pools are always clean, filters are always maintained, equipment is running properly, and the pool tech always is on time, on the days he says he'll be there, and they use the best chemicals. Can you find cheaper of course, is there someone out there that will promise everything but deliver nothing, of course. As someone who is in the real estate market, let me be clear, spend the extra $20 a month, $2.50 more per clean, and hire this man and his company.... so you will NEVER have to worry about YOUR POOL! read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. We had all new pool equipment and tile installed by them late last summer, and the work was excellent all the way around. A special shout out to the crew that did the tile work in 115 degree temperatures - they displayed a high degree of artistry and worked amazingly fast. On the equipment side, BBW had serious supply chain issues to contend with, and Marco found a workaround that allowed us to get the system installed by the time we needed it. After everything was up and running, their field rep very patiently gave us a thorough tutorial as well as some valuable advice that saved us hundreds of dollars on a controller. Pool companies are notoriously flaky and hard to get hold of in our experience, but these guys are the opposite - always responsive and very professional, with detailed estimates that they honored 100% even when additional labor was involved. On the subject of pricing, I'd say BBW's was fair, especially considering the quality of service. You might be able to get a company that is cheaper, but will they show up and/or do decent work? read more

We finally decided to take the big step of adding a pool to our backyard. We reached out to several new construction contractors for quotes, read tons of reviews, and spoke to friends and family who've recently added pools. No one we knew had specifically used Bella, but the vibe we got immediately from meeting Mario when he came to our house was that it would be personal for him and that he'd make sure we were happy every step of the way. Erika, in the office, emailed our quote within a day or two of Mario's visit and always answered our endless questions within 24 hours with professionalism and courtesy. The impressions we got from Mario and Erika in the initial stages of getting quotes were enough to convince us this was the team we wanted to build our pool; we are very thankful for the Bella Blue team. Mario provided honest advice along the way, immediately resolved any issues that came up (which were very few), ensured we had the pool we were hoping for and managed to finish AHEAD of schedule. Even now, 6 weeks after the completion of our pool, he still responds to our text questions within minutes. We recommend Bella Blue Water for new pool construction without hesitation. Bella Blue installed a pool, helped with design and and removed a concrete patio and replaced it with pavers. These guys are the best. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The only reason I'm giving them five stars is because that's the most I can give. They were unbelievably professional, top to bottom. Everyone who works there was professional, considerate and helpful. They finished the job one month earlier than projected and completely on budget. They answered all of our questions, adapted easily to change orders, worked great with city inspectors. In short, they did absolutely everything right, and including reassuring our neighbors that everything would look great after they dug the trenches (it does)! Mario is the owner and he has the respect of all of his workers, subcontractors, inspectors and tile stores. He also has my undying respect. He runs a great organization and is also a very nice guy. This is the best pool service in the Coachella valley. I have known Mario and his dad since they have started. I needed a pool company to get my pool running for a home inspection the next day. Mario and his dad showed up at night with spot lights drained my pool and got it working before the next day. This is over the top service. There is a reason they are expanding. BRAVO Bella Blue. This company is the greatest. Their quote was detailed (with options to upgrade), the crew was superb and friendly, job site always cleaned at the end of the day and I was kept informed throughout. The only thing I had to do was pick out tile and pebbletec color. Voila, in 7 weeks I have a gorgeous pool with a shallow "deep" end (now 5ft was 8ft) and a tanning shelf. Bella is the best contractor I've ever worked with. Again, Best---Ever!! 20k pool remodel on a big leaky problematic pool. They did outstanding work. Timeliness: Right on the money. They started and finished on time. Price: Great deal for the scope of work. Responsiveness: I wasn't able to be present for the work, yet was totally up to speed on the project thru weekly phone calls and tons of emailed photos. Customer service: Excellent. The boss didn't like the way the concrete pour looked: They ripped it out and redid it at their expense. Lights not correctly installed by someone else: They fixed them - no charge.
