Absolutely horrible. I don't even know where to begin. -work was horrible. First six months lots of problems -I brought professionals in to take a look at the work and it appears there were many code violations and bad workmanship -By FAR the worst part is you have a business owner and his son that hide behind the desk girl Clarissa. Neither will give you their phone number as they don't stand behind their work. -Destroyed my beautiful landscape and didn't pay me a penny for all of the replaced plants. Rich and his team at Classic Pools and Spas are true artisans who can take a vision and turn it into reality. There were quite a few challenges with our pool/spa starting with the small area in our yard this had to fit, the extra water features, and other design/equip requests we made. Working project meant navigating local code, dealing with our perimeter wall (a section of which had to be torn down and rebuilt) and staying on top of compliance/code and challenges that invariably pop-up. Heck, even our newly built equipment housing and existing propane tank wall were embellished and each space was freshly painted and very nice gates were installed, as well as nice driveway pavers installed to cover the narrow channel that had to be dug were added by Classic without us begging...Classic took the initiative to make sure every component, not just actual pool/spa, looks incredible. Like any project, a source of frustration is that the work flow is unpredictable since the logistics are complicated. There were delays due to subcontractors or suppliers but Rich and his team worked it out. Classic was not the lowest bid but unlike many pool contractors, Rich doesn't "low-ball" a bid to get the job and then retroactively adds thousands at the end. He bids based on his experience tells him it will truly cost. We appreciated knowing what true cost is....we were not charged a penny more. Classic is genuinely collaborative, which is essential because there are no "do overs" when dealing in rebar and cement. Having a pool/spa is a dream: refreshing, relaxing, and restorative. Let me start by admitting I'm a contractor's worse nightmare as I expect everything to be perfect. Richard and his team went above and beyond to meet my expectations, something I don't think other pool builders in the valley would have done. Yes we exchanged a few choice words (or maybe I did) during the build along with several of his eye-rolls, but at the end of the day he made everything right. Construction projects are not perfect so keep that in mind when you start yours. Karissa is their Office Manager, she is the gatekeeper and to get through to either of the Richard's (yes there is a younger version of Richard Sr.), you have to go through her, so stay on her good side! She was always very pleasant to me and returned all my calls and emails promptly. Richard Jr. is responsible for sales/quotes as well as their draftsman. He was very enthusiastic when onsite, had great ideas, an eye for detail, and returned the quote within the timeframe he promised. Their showroom is not very large and did not have a good selection of hardscape material, pool tile, pavers etc., so make sure Richard Jr. makes an appointment at NPT in Palm Desert where you will find a large selection to choose from. The landscaping was done by Land Savvy, Indio CA. Ozzy the owner is amazing, knowledgeable in horticulture, and competitively priced. Richard Sr. now uses Ozzy after he saw the work he did at my build. I have had one service call since the build and it was responded to in a timely manner. I called this company to get a quote for a new pool/spa, left a message on July 24 around 1pm. I did receive a return call and Karisa left me a voice message. I promptly called back and was told that they can send someone during the week. I told her okay but my husband works Mon through Friday and wouldn't be able to do that. She then said okay I'll call Richard Jr and see if he can go out in Saturday instead. Around 4pm she called back and said yes he agreed to go out to your house not this Saturday but next Saturday, August first at 10am. I said wonderful. Well, Richard Jr never showed up or even called to say that he wouldn't be making it out that day. To this day, August 4th I have no received any phone call or email or anything. We interviewed 9 pool companies to redo our whole backyard and Classic Pools was by far the best out of all the interviews.They were very knowledgeable and had the best pricing. They also showed us several properties that they had worked on to give us ideas of what we wanted. We met former clients of theirs and they were all extremely happy with their service. We are so glad we went with them. Our pool and backyard overhaul turned out so much better then we could have ever expected. Richard Jr. did a great job designing our pool and backyard and Richard Sr. did an awesome job executing it. They always responded quickly to any questions or concerns I had and stayed on time to complete the project. Our project took roughly three months to complete. These guys really did a nice job of constructing my pool when supervised by owner. Some crazy stuff happened when unsupervised. They had put all the brick on the waterfall wall then had to remove it all because they forgot to do something first. 3 years after the installation the PVC pipes for the waterfall wall started to leak inside and was noticed by water bubbling on back side of wall. After trying to contact these people for about a year I finally gave up. They didnt even have the courtesy to return my calls. If I had it to do over again I would not have given them the job. We had a pool and spa built by classic. Recently out spa fell apart and had to be redone. A crew was sent out to repair the spa and left debris in spa and pool. right away after the repair we began having circulation problems with incoming lines from the pool and I contacted Classic to address problem. That was in December 2020 and as of today the same problem has only gotten worse. I've contacted them several times only to be ignored. All we want is our pool operational for medical necessities. My wife has MS and our pool is a vital necessity for he health regiment and wellness. It is important part of my regiment as well being a 100 percent disabled veteran. Before making a huge investment make sure service records are in order and company will stand behind it workmanship. I have never met someone with such integrity, work ethics and honesty!!!! We researched and talked to so many, many pool contractors before we decided on Richard to put a pool in our backyard. Richard was the cheapest and highest in quality! He finished the pool in the time that he said he would. He was always responsive to our questions/calls, was always on the job site supervising. I was definitely nervous about taking on the task of shopping for a pool contractor since I didn't know anything about pools. Quoted several companies in Coachella Valley and there wasn't big difference in price. All companies were within a couple hundred dollars. We found Richard Jr to be the person we felt we could trust. We were on a tight budget and they were willing to work with us. He was very easy to work with through the whole process. He allowed us to be creative during the design process. We ended up making some adjustments during the construction process and they never got frustrated with us. Pool construction was completed in about 2 months. Very satisfied with the pool design and construction. There has been some things that still need to be completed and or fixed but I am confident that they will get them taken care of. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for a pool. This is a great family company which is run by Richard Sr. He oversees the construction and definitely knows his stuff. Absolutely outstanding service. We needed a repair on our pool light, the pool needed to be drained. After repairing the light we needed a new outer ring. When the best color option was not available in stock, Tommy do not hesitate to order it . He knew this meant it would be necessary for him to return in a couple of days after the pool had been refilled. Buyers beware of this fake individual !!!! our Pool was Over $100,000. don't worry Richard said it will be beautiful, so we added $ 20,000 in extras, a beautiful bar, was build, but when we sit at it, has been built 3 inches too high, Richard said buy bigger chairs wow, you need a pair of steps to reach the sink, and he doesn't install all the equipment and dumps on or doorstep, now is refusing to fix the issues, we have stains in the pool, and have lights out for over 3 weeks, and he refuses to approve the warranty company to fix this... all good until things goes wrong, I could go on and on. read more

In July of 2011, we sought out referrals for four (4) pool contractors. We prefer to do business with companies with very good reputations. Having people we can speak with who give personal accounts of how the process and the product turned out is also a must. When we met Richard, his knowledge of various products, materials and the entire process made us feel most comfortable. Richard is patient and a very good listener. He showed us, in person, more than one dozen pools that he had built and that approximated either the design or materials that we wanted to incorporate in our design. I think that Richard understood what we wanted very clearly and he was willing to make our pool and landscape design truly custom for us. Our confidence in Richard inspired us to contract him to completely remodel our entire back yard in addition to building the pool. We started with a fairly small yard and wanted a spa, pool and plenty of lounging and dining area. Richard knew how to maximize the space and give us everything we wanted but didn't think there was room for as far as space and budget were concerned. We also had one seemingly OUTRAGOUS request. We wanted to have all aspects of the construction and landscaping done while we were away. Having lived through the nightmare of construction several times in the past, we didn't want to go through it again. This is an ultimate luxury that only a most professional contractor can provide. Quite frankly, it took a lot of trust in Richard for us to even consider. This worked out wonderfully. The result? Richard created an inviting outdoor space that has a beautiful freeform pool, a sexy, stacked stone spill over spa and lush landscaping that looks as if it has been naturally in place for years.
