John is the best! He did an excellent job on our property in Palm Desert. He has also been very communicative since the project finished and even gave us guidance on a property in Los Angeles for free. Would recommend him to anyone in the area. read more

The absolute best contractor in the valley! I've been remiss in not writing this sooner. John and his team completely gutted and remodeled two bathrooms for me last year and did a beautiful job. He gave me solutions when other contractors told me to figure out an alternative (e.g. two previous contractors told me to buy a certain type of vanity based on the location of a pipe and John opened the wall and said, "Nope, I can move or reroute the pipe, there isn't any electrical or anything in the way that prevents it"). I have a handful of examples like that, and it made me realize that the others just wanted to do everything the easy way. He also found a potentially catastrophic problem under one of the showers that had previously been missed. On top of that, I really appreciated that he has an eye for little details - paint touch-ups, visual alignment, etc. Highly recommend. read more

I met with three contractors about remodeling a three bedroom two bath condominium built in 1988. It's a rental now and work needed to be completed within 45 days. John Loera was the second contractor I spoke to. He was very straightforward in discussing the scope of work, sharing design trends, ways to save on construction and materials, and how he met owner expectations regarding quality and deadlines for completion. I hired him immediately and received a very reasonable bid several days later. Work exceeded every expectation I had for quality and timeliness. John was on site every morning to assess progress and assign work to his excellent crew. I ended up adding more work because the quality was so good. A realtor who's sold dozens of properties in my development had this to say about the completed renovation. "Outstanding job. A true showcase." John's company and crew delivered that result. read more

As a September fire left my home fire and smoke damaged, I was quite devastated. Fortunately, I had full coverage, but was dreading the chore of finding a good reliable contractor who would do the necessary planning and execution of a complete facelift, for the interior of my home. John Loera and his crew from J L Construction, all did a superior job on our re-do. He stayed on track and on budget, which I greatly appreciated. John was very sensitive of the unplanned disruption the fire caused and he did everything humanly possible to restore my home and my life back to normal. Thank you John, job well done and you have a new customer for life ! Buzz Steussy,,,,,,,Palm Springs, CA. read more

I requested JL Construction through a Yelp carpentry/general contractor project and I had the pleasure of working with John and his team on a tongue and groove ceiling project around the exterior perimeter of my house. I can't speak highly enough of John himself and his entire crew. John is extremely responsive and attentive, and his crew was very punctual and hardworking. The quote for the project was exactly in the range I was expecting to pay. At the start of the project, he gave us multiple samples to choose from in order to make our decision on the wood and color (went with walnut stain on cedar planks). He kept us up-to-date daily via text and email, as well as in-person visits when presenting samples. He was extremely accommodating to our schedule the entire project and led an extremely talented and trustworthy team. There was an entire crew of 5 people here working efficiently and without disruptions every single day, and they were able to get this sizable project done in just one week. I'm super happy with the final outcome and craftsmanship, and I'll be working with him again soon on additional projects. I can't recommend him enough. read more

John and his team at JL Construction are the consummate professionals. We have now used them twice, two different houses, to do major remodeling work. He is there, when he says he'll be there. He gets the work done, and he watches and manages the details. Usually, he'll find and defect or quality issue before you do. Regardless of who finds anything he is on it to ensure that a top, professional job is provided. He is easy to work with, fair on pricing, responds quickly to calls, texts or emails, and can be completely trusted. I have now used JL Construction twice and wouldn't consider using anybody else if required in the future. read more

John called me back when I emailed him after seeing his Yelp reviews. He came to my home to inspect a botched cabinet install job. He sent an email quote the same day. We scheduled the work and he arrived on time and completed the project in 2 half days at the quoted price. Workmanship was excellent. He is proud of his craft. Friendly and professional. I will use him again for sure. read more

JL Construction just finished a three bathroom remodel for us and we couldn't be happier with the results. John has some skilled men working for him that know what they're doing. The job was completed with no change orders, so the finished cost came in right about as expected per the contract, and that's a big positive. The work was done within a few days of the estimated time to finish the project, and that's another big deal. John and Kelli are great communicators and without fail, answer every text and every call every time. We wholeheartedly recommend JL Construction and will use them again. read more

We have recently moved to Thousand Palms and needed a kitchen remodel. John had great reviews, so we went with him. John was very professional, and thorough and his team was wonderful. We love the kitchen and It looks amazing. We had some unexpected problems along the way and John took care of all of them, even a leaking roof, which he very promptly fixed. Give him a call, you won't regret it. read more

Taking pride in a business where contractors have many projects going at once is rare. We chose JL construction because John, the owner of the business participates in the construction. He is an electrician and a plumber and cares deeply about the quality of the result. The project started immediately after we signed a contract and the bill came in where he said it would (I'm still shocked - no other industry is just getting what you asked for shocking). John was accountable, incredibly responsive via text or calls and have a fun witty banter about him. He was very fair on pricing and the project came out beautifully. We rebuilt the kitchen, 3 bathrooms, all new paint, took down walls, new fireplace, new equipment and more. In John we trust, would highly recommend and the next person who uses JL construction will be grateful they did! read more

We shopped around for a contractor to help us out with some renovations in our home, and ended up going with JL. They were super fast with responding to us and gave us a very realistic estimate and timeframe. I've been through this process enough times to know when people are just trying to tell me what I want to hear. I don't like surprises, so I felt very comfortable going with JL. The work was completed exactly when they said it would be even with the discovery of some substantial water damage under the floors. John was very communicative during every step and sent regular updates with videos of progress. As these things tend to go, there are almost always unwanted surprises when you start demolishing a house. This was no exception. John and his team quickly communicated any issues and came prepared with multiple solutions and were able to work repairs into the schedule very quickly. The finished product is FLAWLESS. They did such a wonderful job with everything and I could not be happier with their masterful work. I can't put a price tag on the piece of mind that John was able to provide during this process. Anyone looking for a contractor should not look elsewhere. read more

In case you're wondering if the universal 5 star review is a fluke, let me assure you: it is absolutely not. John and his team did incredible work remodeling my bathrooms and replacing the flooring in several rooms of my house -- all during the exact timeframe he provided (which everyone knows is a true feat). On top of that, he and Kelli were kind, friendly, and incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. John didn't balk as I added additional projects to the remodel, offered suggestions when I wasn't sure what I wanted, and made tweaks on everything from grout color to mirror placement based on my feedback with no complaint. When I had to travel out of town for work, he kept me in the loop with regular photos of his team's daily progress. His pricing is fair and reasonable, and he treats you like a person and not just another job. He even offered suggestions for my upcoming kitchen remodel, which I'm obviously hiring him to do...as soon as I can replenish my renovation fund! read more

John and his crew did an amazing job . We had old avocado colored formica countertops on our island and on the rest of our counters. We also had a backsplash that needed replacing. In four days john and his guys ripped all of that out and installed new butcher block counters and beautiful Mexican tile for our backsplash. They were here on time each day, worked full days and kept the work area clean. They changed our electrical outlets and leveled our stove. John was very responsive to requests for last minute changes. It's rare to find contractors with this type of work ethic, attention to detail and integrity. read more

We don't usually write Yelp reviews, this is the first one in a long time (or ever?), but we want to acknowledge John's excellent work! We are very happy and fortunate we connected with John to remodel our main bathroom. The work involved carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tiling, painting - installing shower tile, fixtures, and glass, vanity and associated plumbing, lighting, flooring, demo and partial wall removal, and finishing drywall, painting, baseboards, towel bars, and more. John is direct, honest, and detail oriented to ensure your project is high quality and finished with the final touches. Let John know what you want and he will make it happen. If asked, John will offer excellent ideas for a great look and quality work that is also cost effective. John is hard working and conducts a number of elements of a project himself - supported by workers and skilled craftsman, including excellent tile work. John has broad skillsets, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing to address all areas of your home. John can identify and solve any issue, and is not hesitant to work with you to ensure everything works! Communication with both John and Kelli is excellent. Kelli helped arrange, coordinate, and worked on many aspects of our project from initial consultation to completion, including many prompt texts and emails to help plan and implement the project. Lastly, John has integrity - so important and hard to come by these days - his efforts, information, pricing, and approach is based on his knowledge, fairness, honesty, and his word. You can't go wrong with that. We love our bathroom! (See pics) read more

Showed up to my job every time I needed him, which was a lot. He helped me out with cabinets, subtops, drywall, painting, stucco patching, windows, framing here and there. Had he not came and helped me, I would never have made it into my home when I needed it done by. Great person. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again. He even went out of his way multiple times to make sure i got the correct items. Kelli took care of everything in the background. She doesn't go unnoticed. I'm very grateful for all her hard work. Having shared vicariously the miserable experiences of so many clients (I am a financial planner), I was prepared for the worst when my wife and I decided to remodel our new home. Working with John Loera, however, was a surprise and a delight. We had no frustrating delays nor substantial cost overruns. Yes, there were a few misunderstandings, inevitable for a major project (which included moving walls, redoing the entire kitchen, laying ceramic tiles in several rooms, building a massive bookcase, and repainting the entire house), but John resolved them quickly and fairly. He is an honorable man. As importantly, he and his team set high standards for their work. We are very, very pleased with the results. read more

We hired John Loera to remodel our kitchen. What a change! Custom Cabinets, Quartz Countertop, Backsplash. The kitchen looks bigger, brighter, and we have a lot more storage! We couldn't be happier with the results. In fact, we expanded the job and he remodeled our laundry room and both bathrooms. John was in constant communication throughout the project. He would often call in the evening with suggestions to make our kitchen even better. When the cabinets arrived at his shop, our trash enclosure was smaller than I wanted. I mentioned it to John and he quickly came up with a solution. John really knows what he is doing and what it takes to please his customers. I will, and have, happily referred John to family and friends. read more

Throughout it all, John was very clear and responsive to all my concerns and questions. John and everyone in his organization are thoughtful, reliable, friendly, honest, trustworthy, and very hardworking. Communication is always central to working with a contractor.
