From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, he and his team were professional, punctual, and incredibly detail oriented. They took the time to properly prepare surfaces, used high quality materials, and kept our home very clean throughout the whole job. They were responsive to all my questions and offered helpful suggestions on colors and finishes. The end result was flawless. My home looks fresh, modern, and beautifully transformed. My review had a follow up. Had several emails from Tim from Curtner Painting. He asked about my reasons for giving them a one star rating. I answered in detail by performing a financial analysis of his quote. He quoted $875 for a small project that requires modest supplies and 3 hours of labor. I had it done for $300 twice in the past . Even if the supplies cost $125, which they don't, it works out at $250 per hour of labor. I told Tim his rates were unreasonable. And I was looking to hire a painter, not a Fortune 500 CEO at $250 an hour! I contacted two other contractors and they acted very professional and quoted less than half of what Curtner Painting quoted. Do you know what Tim told me in the follow up email after I gave him full answer and analyzed his quote? I quote: " I priced it on the high end, so you would pick another contractor. While walking around the house, I had a bad feeling about you". I never had a contractor before who developed any feelings about me before, let alone bad ones. Being caught with the super inflated quote, Tim admitted to inflate the price. And he did it as a sore loser. People don't double market rates in their quote and act as sore losers after losing to a reasonable contractors by saying "they priced it in the high end, so the customer picks up another contractor". If the company does not want business they say they are booked for the next few months and don't waste time on providing a quote. Two other contractors did not have "bad feelings" about me, and provided reasonable quotes. I am happy to go with either one of them. Stay away from Curtner Painting. Dishonest and unprofessional. read more

I have worked with Tim on multiple projects in Palm Springs, including interior and exterior painting and stucco repair. The care and attention that he and his colleague Frank show at each step of the process--from taping around borders and windows to final cleanup after all work has been completed--is top notch. I have never been disappointed in the quality of their work and overall attention to detail. Here's an update. Now that I'm finished pulling hundreds of pieces of rotten lambs skin roller out of the painted walls and touching it up. I thought I would add this to my prior review - nice work on the hinges on this door - painting one and not the other two. Here is the estimate I was given shown in the email below. $5175 not including $600 additional (check number 1497) for more paint, and not including the paint I had to buy. Keep in mind it only included ONE closet and did not include one entire bedroom in a 2000 sq.ft. house. Total cost $5675. The work they did was the highest quality (can't even tell where the patches are, and that included with the texturing), and whenever we need additional work done Tim is quick to come over and take care of things. Really cool guys, no drama, completely trustworthy... we don't have to be here to supervise, which is great. I knew Curtner Painting would be the team I hired to paint the exterior of my 1960's vintage home since they did the interior several years ago. The time finally came and it was in pretty bad shape. I hired a general contractor to restore the wood before having Curtner Painting do their prep work. Tim and Frank actually discovered several wood beams and posts that were not replaced or repaired with wood fill and they were able to compete the restoration. Their work was far superior that the GC which I had hired. I was so impressed by their work as the exterior really needed lots of TLC. Tim and Frank are a great team and they are the really deal. Professional painters who really take great pride in their job and actually like the work they do vs going through the motions like many others I have come across in the last 6 years since moving to the desert. I got quotes from about 5 companies for a full exterior paint job. Tim Curtner was the first to respond, offered the most competitive price (and honored that even after lots of extra trips for materials), wasn't pushy in any way, and was quick to answer questions and follow up on scheduling. He and his partner Frank were very patient and courteous and took their time to do a really good job. They did a lot of stucco repair along with the full repaint. Tim and his key helper Frank did a terrific job across many weeks in the summer of 2017 at stripping wall paper, painting with an eye towards details, and doing great stucco repair work after some very old windows were replaced. I initially decided to get 3 different estimates for my Master Bedroom and Bath. Tim with Curtner Painting was on time and got back to me with his written estimate quickly. Regarding the other 2 companies, one was a no show, and the other company never got back to me with his written estimate until 2 days later. Tim (Curtner Painting) was also the lowest bid, and he was able to begin painting within a couple of days. He was professional, polite, and hardworking. He was careful with the furnishings and asked questions regarding different areas when needed. He was able to work while people, including a baby, occupied the home.
