We were invited about a month in advance for two free nights and a pair of tix to the festival. We took advantage of this offer and decided to take my mom. Although the dinner didn't start until six pm, we were told to check in at four pm because the lines get long. I did what I was told and saw that the line at four was about fifty people long. It took about fifteen minutes to check in. By the time I checked in, there was well over a hundred people in line. I found out later a Yelp friend was in line, we joked that if he texted me sooner, he could've checked in with us! Once inside, we were amazed at how grand this ballroom is! It was decorated in a holiday theme with a live band playing songs from the 60's and 70's. They were great! Each table was set with place settings and service for ten guests per table. Once we sat, we proceeded to the buffet line. Each guest is allowed two lobster tails each. The tails were about 4-6 ounces each. My first lobster was delicious but the second was overcooked and the servers on hand were quick to replace it with a new one. With lobster tails, claws, fried chicken, barbecue pork loin, sides of every kind, desserts and an open host bar. I could see why they charge $90 per ticket for anyone who wants extra tickets. All of the staff and servers were very efficient and courteous. They did a phenomenal job of serving and bussing tables all night long. We estimated that there must've been over fifteen hundred people in attendance. This was a fantastic event and can't wait to go to the other events that the Peppermill puts on for their guests! Thank you Peppermill for a fantastic weekend!

When I walked in for the concert, I couldn't believe that I was in the same room as before - how did they fit those bleachers and stage in there? Besides the fundraiser event I attended, the bar within the ballroom is setup for alcohol purchase - it's cash only and usually pretty steep prices ($10/drink). The sound in the room is actually pretty good, and for the concert they put up large screens on either side of the stage for those of us who were far away from the stage. Overall, a great space for any size event.

Working with Tahoe Bride, and specifically our coordinator Tory, was the best decision that my…read morehusband and I made for our wedding. We went back and forth on whether to hire a coordinator at all since we were planning a more intimate wedding with a smaller budget, and we thought we could handle the day of coordination ourselves with help from family. I am so glad we decided to work with Tory from Tahoe Bride instead of trying to do it ourselves. She was able to work with our budget and even though we went with the day-of-coordination package, Tory put in hours and hours of planning work including phone calls, emails and texts in the 6+ months leading up to the wedding. Our venue was a family cabin on the lake, which came with its own challenges in terms of layout and space for guests. Tory handled every challenge with extreme professionalism and expertise. We had to change the game plan for the wedding several times leading up to the big day because of concerns about the lake level, and Tory worked with us the whole time even when changing plans the week before. We were also working with the affiliated EventMasters company for rentals, and Tory came out on the day that they did the venue evaluation to help us coordinate all the rentals. On the day of the wedding, she was invaluable--setting up decorations, coordinating vendors, making sure everything flowed smoothly and just making it possible for my husband, family and I to relax and enjoy the day. I can't recommend Tahoe Bride, and Tory in particular, enough.

Boy were we wrong! We are SO incredibly thankful to have hired Tahoe Bride and in particular, Larrisa, as our wedding coordinator. She was absolutely amazing! Larrisa is an easy-going and fun-loving individual who is very easy to talk to and really knows her stuff! She went above and beyond to help us coordinate our perfect wedding day. Even though we had just hired her for the day of the wedding, she spent countless hours on the phone communicating with us and coordinating every detail to make our wedding day perfect. On the day of our wedding she handled everything from our design layout and set-up of equipment, to putting on corsages/boutonnieres, telling everyone where to go and stand, coordinating with all the vendors that we hired, she was even so thoughtful as to bring us water throughout the day (much needed!), and making everything run smoothly and on time... Larrisa even offered to hand off our payments to our vendors at the end of the day so we didn't have to worry about it (that is the last you want to be worried about at the end of your wedding day). My family was especially grateful that they were able to enjoy the wedding and not have to worry about a thing! After the wedding we received many wonderful compliments from our guests about Larrisa and her wedding coordination skills. If you are getting married in Lake Tahoe, I highly recommend going with Tahoe Bride and asking for Larrisa. You won't be disappointed!

This was the second place we checked out and I immediately fell in love with this place. We had two other places we were going to tour but ended up cancelling because we just knew the Elm Estate was where we wanted to celebrate our special day! Why? Many reasons but for one - this place has it all! Not to mention the property is just absolutely beautiful! Ceremony, reception, and even lodging onsite- which not only made it convenient but unique too. Secondly what really stood out was - you truly feel the Elm Estate is invested in making your day one to remember! When you book with them, you have 3 detailing meetings, including an opportunity called "mixology" to sit with the bartender and customize your cocktails. We mostly worked with Emma and Shannon and they were very responsive and accommodating throughout the entire wedding planning process! If there was one downfall -I would say it was not being able to access the bridal suite (which by the way is stunning and everyone girl's dream aesthetics) until 2pm and having to do makeup and hair offsite instead- it made the logistics a bit challenging, but I guess that's what booking the cottages was for. It also always means a lot to me- when the owner of a business, personally comes and introduces themselves and checks in with you to make sure everything is good! We booked the Elm Estate for my dad's memorial and chose it in part because they billed themselves…read moreas a "one-stop shop" that would "handle everything." Trying to put this together on short notice, from out of state, all while grieving made this sound like a good solution. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. We quickly learned that "handling everything" mostly meant introducing us to their approved vendors. If we wanted to use someone outside their list, that vendor would first have to be vetted--a process we didn't have the time or bandwidth to deal with. The prices we were quoted through these vendors were sky-high: $6,000 for ten flower arrangements, nearly $6,000 for catering that consisted of three appetizers, a charcuterie board and a dessert station. Then came the additional charges--for things like cloth napkins and "premium" spirits (even though this was a daytime event where no one was drinking anything stronger than beer and wine). At every turn, it felt like there was another opportunity to add something to the bill. There were also some surprising lapses in professionalism. They recommended that we hire an MC and offered to make introductions. We specifically said that we would prefer to see a list of candidates and their websites before moving forward. Instead, they sent an email introduction to a guitarist/MC, who then proceeded to email us every few days trying to get us to book him. We finally had to ask him politely to leave us alone while we made a decision. Additionally, some basic things were overlooked on the day itself -- the microphone stopped working halfway through my father's eulogy and I had to ask the staff to put out boxes of tissues. We held a second memorial for my dad in Los Angeles a few days later, so have been able to compare the two experiences directly. It was every bit as warm and lovely, with great food, flowers and an open bar...and cost roughly one-fourth as much. I understand that full-service event planning come at a premium, and we expected to spend more here. What I did not expect was to come away from my father's memorial feeling that our grief and time crunch made us easy marks for expensive vendors and endless upcharges. The Elm Estate is a beautiful property (surrounded, it should be noted, by mobile home parks, self-storage units and railroad tracks), but based on our experience, I would encourage anyone considering it to ask for detailed pricing, including vendor costs and every possible add-on, before signing a contract.
