The chicken taco was YUMMY!! Def recommend for a quick bite if you're passing through King's Beach. The rice and beans were just okay. Catching a meal on the run seems to be an increasing pattern. I had a meeting today nearby that lasted from 11:30 - 1:30 and then headed out towards the Gardnerville Community Center Gym for a scheduled 3 PM workout. Tahoe Central Market was highly recommended, but they were surprisingly closed. Not wanting to drive around in unfamiliar surroundings, I looked down the block, skipped over Taco Bell, and decided to give The Burrito Window a shot. I ordered a chicken burrito (cut in half for the road) and a bottle of water. At $14, I thought the price was a little high, but this is a resort area. Past that, it was a really hot and tasty burrito and fairly well consumed while I was driving. A few extra napkins helped. We come to King's Beach all the time and this is the first time we've tried this restaurant. We went right at opening at 11 and the staff was very friendly. They have a nice bar top overlooking the street next to the beach so we ended up sitting there. We ordered a battered shrimp burrito, kids burrito, and two tacos with beans and rice. Carne asada for the tacos. We hail from the Bay Area so we've tried everything from upscale Mexican restaurants to hole in the wall taquerias. Not sure what it was, but the flavor just wasn't there. The Carne Asada was a little mushy and the beans and rice had no taste. I had to douse most things in salsa and sour cream. The beer battered shrimp burrito was OK. It seemed like it had a lot of filler like rice and cabbage for some reason which I've never had in a burrito before. I came here on my last stay up here at Lake Tahoe for a quick lunch. I've had many a burrito from Americanized places like Chipotle to hard core Mexican in Oakland where you're better off speaking Spanish and having a second person watch the car. This place I will say is not real hardcore, so no there's no tongue on the menu. Just pork, beef and chicken burritos. The size is OK, and the prices ... well,lets just say there's no such thing as a cheap burrito lunch anymore , and then there's the Tahoe price factor. $14 bucks with tax is about what a burrito will go for here. This is a hold in your hand and eat burrito, not a wet sauce covered one on a plate. I got a beef burrito and it was decent, not wow, this is great burrito, but just OK. It you're looking for real authentic Mexican, you'll need to leave Lake Tahoe, though I did hear of a place in King's Beach off the main strip that might be good. It's a Mexican grocery store as well. I'd say here at the Burrito Window, it's serviceable Mexican food, but then you might be looking for a burrito that you might be more familiar with like in the suburbs of some city, this will do you good then. read more

It's not the most amazing food, but the view can't be beat for a nice casual meal nearby King's Beach. There are four stools out front that even face the beach. We opted for inside since we needed a high chair. I would recommend tacos over the bowl and carnitas over the other meats. Really filling and friendly service. My family of four was looking for a quick lunch on a Friday with indoor seating and came across The Burrito Window. Their hours are limited, 11am to 3:00 pm. We walked in around 2:35 pm and were kindly greeted. The restaurant was clean and there were a few tables available. My family ordered an asada, burrito,a chicken burrito and a kids chicken burrito and enjoyed them. I ordered an asada taco and chicken taco a la carte. The tacos were bigger than traditional street tacos. They were served on two tortillas with cheese melted between the tortillas (nice touch). The asada looked and tasted different than asada I'm used to getting but was good. The chicken was also good. The meat, slaw, sauce, tortillas were all fresh. Not the biggest fan unfortunately. I think my expectations were misplaced and I was expecting more traditional Mexican food but this is more Tex mex. Tacos are lined with a coleslaw, meat and salsa. We went here recently for a quick bite to eat before checking in at our lodge stay for the night, and we were NOT disappointed. We definitely took a chance with this spot because it was a last minute decision, and there was a parking spot right up front. It's a cute little stop off type food spot, and the food was SO GOOD. I got a bowl, and my partner got a burrito. The food size was really generous, which we love... the prices were decent, especially for it being in Kings Beach, and for the portions, and most of all, the staff was super fun to talk to. We really enjoyed our visit, and honestly if we lived closer, then this would be a go-to spot for us! So, we passed this place and honestly didn't think much of it because Tahoe isn't known for its EXCEPTIONAL Mexican cuisine. However, we were both delightfully surprised at how tasty the burritos were. Sure, they're pricey, like everything in Tahoe, but the flavor is definitely spot on to what you expect. Especially their fried shrimp burrito, which again is typically not my thing coming from the Bay Area/SF with our plethora of burrito options, but frankly it's pretty delicious. As to the gizzards I mean this is not a traditional burrito. Jack cheese --last I checked this is from 'sconsin (state above Illinois for those that somehow don't know this) the fusion 'sour cream" is more like a hummus that includes chipotle and cilantro and makes the whole burrito taste like it was pulled out of a camp fire. 7-2-23 Battered shrimp burrito $12: The rice had some raw rice kernels. I decided to just spoon out the rice though I couldn't get all of it cuz they filled the entire burrito with it. I used to return bad rice but in my experience 100% of the time they simply give me more of the same bad rice as a replacement. I've never had a place replace with freshly cooked and good rice. So I don't bother anymore. There were 3 shrimps of medium size. Plump but you couldn't taste any of it really since the quantity is so small. 1/10 Brownie $3.50 Overly crusty. Fudgy and chewy but no airiness at all. Very moist in center, almost liquid feeling. Not my style as I prefer it to be more cake like but you may like it. 6/10 Beef and Pork Tacos $11.75 Pork was actually very good. Very meaty and lots of juicy sauce. Didn't try the beef. I haven't been to many restaurants in Kings Beach because every time I come to this area, I want to go back to the Burrito Window! They are located right across the street from the beach. There is free 15 min parking right in front of the building or 2 hour parking just past the roundabout; park in either area to avoid the paid lot nearby. This is a small shop with a limited menu. Prices are pretty affordable for the quality of food you are getting. They also do catering services! My friend who lives in Tahoe City first recommended this place to me and it is such a great find! I always get the burrito as a bowl and choose the battered shrimp. Similar vibe as Chipotle but it is California style (has coleslaw instead of lettuce, for example). It comes with the coleslaw, beans, rice, salsa, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro plus your choice of meat. They also ask how spicy you want it. Everything always tastes SO fresh here! The shrimp are battered perfectly, I could eat a whole plate of just those by themselves. I always feel full after this meal and it never settles weird with my stomach like Chipotle and other chains do. It sounds like some reviewers are disappointed that it is not "regular Mexican food" or like other chains, but I love that it is a unique type of Mexican food experience. They even have a little patio so you can sit out front and have a glimpse of Tahoe as you eat! I love this place and will continue to hype it up and come back! read more

This place across the street from Kings Beach was a perfect spot to grab lunch after kayaking for 2 hours! The name might sound like a drive through place but they do have tables for dine in. We were 9 of us and were comfortably accommodated inside . I got the chicken burrito which was pretty standard with beans , rice, sour cream,cilantro and cheese. You can substitute the tortilla for a bowl. I'd also recommend a freshly baked chocolate fudge brownie for dessert! Definitely try out this local place on Kings beach if you're craving a burrito. read more

Not bad for Cal-Mex food in terms of taste. The chips are thick and crunchy. The service is fast and everyone is wearing a mask. However the Tostada is not a tostada. It's basically a fiesta bowl with tortilla chips. That being said, it still tasted good. I got it with pork and it was pretty tasty. It came with spring mix so I appreciated the well-rounded meal. I came here with my family after a long day at the lake and we were excited to grub on some tacos. We ordered 2 pork tacos, 4 beef tacos, and 4 chicken tacos. After waiting about 10 minutes, we receive our food and see that there are 8 beef tacos and 2 pork tacos. Obviously, I told the host that we were missing our chicken tacos and had extra beef tacos. She it was okay and we could take the extras and she would have the kitchen make our 4 chicken tacos. After eating what we had, we went back and forth to ask the host where our tacos were multiple times. We were taken aback when she told us to give back the extra tacos 20 minutes after our hungry family ate them so that she could replace them with the chicken!!! Food was decent! My family and I stopped in after walking king's beach. We were the only customers for ~20 mins as we ate. Happy to get out of the cold and see an empty restaurant. Service was so rude, I had gone up to pay for a to-go plate to take home to my husband in addition to the family's lunch that we ate there. The guys working were just chatting with each other - totally fine, just acknowledge that I'm here? But no worries, they got to me eventually. I ordered and had my card out to pay. They decided to help a lady who had just come in for her take out order rather that let me finish up paying for my order? So bizarre. Like she cut me in line and they let it happen.
