Great local tacoria- real local flavor. Friendly staff, great beer, and great food. Stopped by after skiing for a beer and quesadilla and it was great. Next time I am getting the soup looked amazing. Nothing fancy, but worth a trip

This is one of the best places to eat in Truckee, by far. Ignore all the haters. This place offers large portions for a reasonable price! If you want a delicious, and fulfilling meal this is the place to come.

This is our go to Mexican restaurant anytime we're in Truckee or visiting the area. Every time we go in no matter what we order. It's always delicious. The service is fast and the staff is very friendly. I've had their Carnitas, their fish, their Pollo and chili Releno!! Their prices are very reasonable and the portions are ample. You won't be disappointed and you'll leave stuff if you're not careful

I have been coming here for many years before their remodel. I remember the counter where there are now booths. Food has been consistent all of the time. The menu is so extensive with the traditional items like tacos, burritos and enchiladas. I like the menudo special on weekends. Be aware this place is popular so there can be a wait to order.

On a clear winter day, Tacos Jalisco topped off a terrific day of snow shoeing. They are a bit short handed, so bring patience. You'll be rewarded with tasty fare. Their menu is pretty big, so we actually appreciated having a bit of time to take it all in while waiting for someone to come to the register. We ordered a chile verde burrito, a regular burrito al pastor, and a couple of jamica agua frescas and found ourselves a table. The inside is pretty spacious with many tables and booths. It looks like a popular place as a stream of people came in after us at 1:30 pm on a weekday. I didn't take a picture of the regular burrito, but it was tasty. I often order al pastor to check out a new place. The meat was diced and mixed in with the rice and beans. The burrito is big enough for me to get two meals out of it. The chile verde burrito came with chile verde poured over the top and addtional rice and beas on the side. The chile verde was delicious, tender, and flavorful with a bit of heat. We didn't realize it was a plate with more rice and beans, but that's okay since both were very tasty. Now we have a go to place in Truckee! There's a help wanted sign in the window and I imagine it's hard to get help. I was in area to have fun, so the least I can do is be patient when businesses are short handed.

Delicious Taqueria in Truckee, very busy with phone orders and pick ups. Steady stream of people coming in. We got there late on the evening about 7pm. Just ordered some finger foods for 2 adults and 2 kids. Nachos and carne asada fries. Soda was very carbonated, not tasty. No issue with changing it twice, eventually got a bottled jarritos instead. Nachos was good, Fries a bit soggy but still tasty.

While dining inside was great/preferred, it was difficult to flag down someone as everyone else was outdoors. Their quesadilla was delicious, but the shrimps were super spicy so we ended up getting regular cheese quesadilla for the kids instead. Additionally, we got Super Nacos, a few tacos, chicken tenders with chips, and churro fries. The food overall took quite awhile to come out. At one point, we had to cancel one of our dishes because it never came and the kids were getting impatient about being there for so long...unclear whether this is because we had a large group and placed multiple orders (vs. 1 "complete" order in one go), but we likely wouldn't come back as a large group next time.

The fish tacos tasted delicious with the combination of salsa and toppings on it. However, the fish was overcooked and my friend's corn tortillas were not pan fried enough and she had food poisoning from the chicken tacos. Shrimp tacos were amazing and i love how they had a thick hot sauce which looked like the diablo sauce. My mango sin mocktail was delicious as well. The shrimp quesadillas were great. My daughter enjoyed it! The server is pretty nice, but a bit slow because they only have one or two when they are very busy.

They were excellent. Like, the kind where you pause mid-bite and nod. The enchiladas were exactly what you want after a long Tahoe day: cheesy, saucy, and piping hot in the best kind of way. Comfort food perfection. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. A couple quirks to know going in: * Beware the green salsa. It is SPICY. Do not mistake it for guacasalsa. It's actually spicier than the red salsa and has some serious kick. * Chips aren't free and only come in one large size, so plan accordingly if you're just looking for a small side. Overall, fantastic food, generous portions, and totally worth the stop. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

We perused the market that is attached to the restaurant while we waited for our order. A great way to past time and loved all the authentic Mexican spices and produce there. Usually restaurants in Tahoe during winter season are super packed on the weekends with long wait times. But La Mexicana delivered authentic food in a prompt manner. Food was good. I got the carnitas and al pastor tacos for the combo. We also got an additional fish taco. The food was more than enough for me. I was pretty full after the two, and I pushed myself to split the fish taco. Fish taco was pretty good and had some good spice to it. I recommend giving that one a try.

The exterior green flaking paint should have been another warning sign. We walked into what at one time was an enclosed porch and seated in a converted bedroom. What a horrible place.. How this place passes county inspection is a true mystery. A basket of thick chips and a tiny bowl of hot sauce were placed on the table along with a pitcher of ice water. The pitcher was old, cracked and chipped.. We should have walked out but I thought maybe the food would make up for the decor, it most certainly didn't. We ordered the pork in green sauce, beans and rice with three miserable tortillas. The sauce had zero flavor and without being disgusting it looked like it had been served to a customer hours before. I opened the tortilla holder and found three luke warm tortillas that had been clipped off with a knife. Yanzi told me not to complain and I kept my mouth shut. In these difficult financial times, when every dollar counts, this is not where you should spend your money. Maybe 20 years ago this place was nice, now it's a total and complete, well let's just say it needs a total remodel job.
