I have mixed feelings about this place. The waiter was so sweet, but he just seemed so busy considering he was the only one on the floor. He seemed frazzled and forgot things we asked him to bring. It's very homey and like a cabin inside. The chips were delicious, along with all the three different salsas. They unfortunately did not have any green salsa. I got the horchata and it tasted like there was overly too much condense milk in it because it was thick. The street tacos were definitely not authentic, but did it's job for a quick lunch. I will not be back.

Ambience was nice, and service was friendly. We were given chips and salsa as soon as we sat down, and food came out promptly. We are all native Californians so we have high standards when it comes to Mexican food. Rice and beans were really good and so was the salsa, the meats were where the flavor was lacking. It was fine and food tasted fresh, it just wasn't delicious. Our drinks were good, Cadillac, cantarito and a paloma. Might be worth going back for happy hour.

Loved it here on a busy Thursday night they were able to seat quickly and service just as quickly and friendly as can be! Tacos were a good loved the habanero salsa! Check it out if you're in truckee!

Dining room

The food was decent. The service was not great. We were a group of 6 and were told we could have 3 separate checks. Not one of the checks were accurate. When we tried to correct them, it actually got worse. Communication seemed to be part of the problem. They have a full liquor bar and I ordered a common mixed drink -- that I couldn't drink. It really was terrible. I found the dining room chairs to be very uncomfortable. Our's might have been an unusual experience but I wouldn't be willing to go back

Well this was a nice surprise! Dont usually come in here but had so much fun and the staff was awesome!!!

One of the more reasonably priced options in Downtown Truckee! We went for dinner last night and for a group of three with an app the total was $50. Compared to the other options in the area, this is very reasonable! We started with rocket fries and then I got the taco salad with carnitas meat. They forgot the guacamole and salsa and I had to ask but it was brought shortly after. Flavors weren't out of this world but tasty and fit the bill for us.

House margarita. Pretty good, but very sticky glass lol.

It was hopping and reservations would be a good idea but if you get there, you could still try for a seat at the bar like we did. For anyone celiac or gluten-free or both, this is a really great place and even though it was a bit on the expensive side, I thought it was 100% worth it. Also, for dessert, I got the Agoado and it was divine.

It was nice inside ... almost cozy like but still fun. The food menu is varied and has lots of great options. It was hard to decide what to eat since I wanted to try a lot. The wine list has some really nice (reasonably priced) options too. We started with the carpaccio which was presented with some grilled bread (which I love), a bit of arugula, parm, capers and lemons. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth. The char on the bread was perfection... just enough to give it a little something-something but the bread was still soft and chewable. I had the Risotto Di Mare (seafood risotto). It was packed with fish and shellfish... and came out steaming. I love when my food comes out so hot I have to blow on it. You know it just came off the stove. The husband had the Sausage and Tagliatelle. There was so much sausage that we took half back to our condo and scrambled it with our eggs with next morning. For dessert, we had the special banana cake. It doesn't sound great but it was the perfect dessert. Not heavy, not dense, not too sweet. And we shared a bottle of Nebbiolo. Our dinner bill before tip was $194. I found that reasonable since the portions were not skimpy and the quality was really good.

We started with the sage and cheddar biscuits, which were wonderful, and the glazed pork belly with chili crunch with toasted cashews - the combo of the nuts and pork was really delicious. We then had the Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled steak frites. Pork chop came with creamy polenta, mushrooms, and a blueberry glaze - I'm hungry just writing about all this. The chop was grilled to perfection - moist (no pink meat) and nicely charred for the flavor. The glaze is a hint of sweetness and the creamy polenta is a winner. The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. For dessert, we had a chocolate masterpiece. The meal was well priced considering the location and the time of year. And while the meal was special, it was the service that really made the experience special. While being utterly professional, the staff is also friendly and on top of it. I regret I didn't ask the hostess her name, but she was excellent - filled our water glasses without being asked once, and asked if we would like clean utensils after our appetizers. Our server was also excellent. I'd have more pictures usually, but we were so hungry after a LONG day at Sand Harbor, we forgot!

There was some confusion about the heat lamps apparently, we were told they would not be turning them on for us, we said that was fine, we hadn't asked for them to be on. Then the server dnd her trainee came over and asked if we wanted the heat lamps on. Um, ok, so they do work? They had signs up saying no dogs as well which we were wondering about since it seemed like it would be a nice outdoor area to have a well behaved fur companion. We started with the cheddar biscuits- we felt they were average at best. Wish we had skipped them, not worth the calories for sure. My hubby loved his angus burger and his duck fat steak fries with truffle aioli. Hubby asked if they had any hot sauce- we were told they made it in house. He liked it enough to ask if they sell it. They do/ we bought a small bottle for $7.50 I had the conchiglie which I also really enjoyed. Our favorite part of the meal was dessert- we shared a scoop of the salted caramel gelato. First of all, the place itself is so cute, clean, and inviting, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. After taking a quick glance at the menu, I immediately gravitated toward their House Pastrami Sandwich, and oh my goodness, it did not disappoint! It came out piping hot with thick, delicious pastrami, melted cheese, and a creamy mustard sauce that complemented everything so perfectly. And that brioche bun! It was pillowy soft and absolutely delicious. Now, let's talk about those house-made chips! I typically don't eat chips that come with sandwiches, but these were something else. They were served warm, perfectly salted, light, and so delicious that I couldn't resist. And I love me a good pickle, especially alongside a pastrami sandwich! Needless to say, I devoured every bite! As for my drink, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offered unsweetened matcha, which is always a plus in my book since not every place has it. I ordered a medium (16 oz), and it was perfectly balanced, smooth, and not bitter at all. Just the way I like it! I'm so glad I decided to venture out and stumbled upon this little gem. Whether you're looking for a delicious warm drink, a quick yet satisfying bite to eat, or simply a welcoming place to relax for a bit, I absolutely recommend giving this place a try!

We did not get to spend as much time here as we would have liked so I'll just say that our cocktails were delicious, the bartender was super friendly and cool to chat with, and it's essentially a speakeasy connected to the bbq restaurant next door. How fun is that? We came in shortly after the bar opened, after our bike ride along the lake. We were hungry but the kitchen wasn't open yet, and we had to get back to Truckee for plans we already made. If we had no other places to be, we would have lingered around longer and possibly had another drink, but definitely tried the bbq next door as the bartender said it's good and we could smell the wood and meat cooking. Wish I could come back again soon, but it'll be a while so why don't you go ahead and check it out if you're reading this review. Hopefully you enjoy it too :)
